Ti4800SE needs fan replacement

I have a Geforce 4 Ti4800SE card and the fan was at a dead halt when I took my system apart the other day.  I took apart the HSF assembly and lubed up the fan to get it spinning freely again.  It's ok for the time being, but I'd like to replace the cooling unit.  It uses that Top Tech cooling http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms/TOP.asp
I haven't been able to find the replacement parts for it anywhere and I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.  I'm not looking for anything fancy as I don't overclock etc.  The stock replacement unit would be fine or I'd be open to any other suggestions.  Thanks!

Sarthak,
Either send it in to MSI for repair or get something aftermarket like:

  • Do I need my fan replaced?

My fans recently have started making a much louder, more scratcy noise. It is not the macs fan simply speeding up as it happens even at low rpms around 2000. I am not sertain on this but I think my fans need lunbricating or replacing. Is this covered in the 1 year warrenty that came with the macbook pro. And on a side note does anyone know if apple would repair it even if I have bought it from John Lewis (somethink like best buy for you amercans).
Thanks for your replays in advance.

Your one-year warranty is good at any Apple Store or AASP. You may need your fans replaced if you've already blown them out. I wouldn't try any lubricant - just take your unit into your local Apple Store and let them 'hear' the problem.
    Good luck,

  • HSTNN-E06C - Fan is not working, need a replacement.

    Hello.
I have a HSTNN-E06C laptop. It seems that my CPU fan does not work anymore.
Before I got my  laptop  disassembled, I would like to prepare myself  with proper   components. I would like to ask You what is the  FAN product code, so I will be able to order a fan replacement?
can you also provide me some  service manual, which will help me to take the laptop apart in proper  order.
Fan replacement should not  be any problem for me, so I really   count on you, guys
    Thanks in advance.

If it is the fan that is you're having problem with, you can replace it. HP doesn't provide cooling fan alone as spare part.
You might want to contact the online sellers mentioned above or your local stores with the part number & ask about it.

  • Need a Replacement Graphics Card for Light Gaming

My current 7800GT overheats when gaming or even just running GLXgears. I need a replacement of similar or slightly better performance (preferably less than $100) for an nforce4 SLI board. How are the ATI drivers right now? I've heard they still have issues. I'm kind of wary of Nvidia due to the possibly wide spread defects. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia … ,6248.html
It seems sort of lose-lose. Which graphics card would you recommend?
Edit: Do either of these seem reasonable? Which is better? The 2600XT?

You might be able to fix your current nvidia.
Maybe try removing and re-attaching the heatsink/fan setup and cleaning ou the fan. You'll probably need some thermal paste to re-attach the heatsink, but it doesnt cost much. Keep in mind that graphics cards can run really hot, some have max temps over 150C iirc..
I wouldnt worry about that nvidia thing, it's probably not an issue now.

  • Fan replacement on G4 Quicksilver 2002

The fan inside my wife's G4 recently broke and I need to replace it. I need instructions/diagram of how to remove/replace the shroud that goes over it.
    Tim
    G4 Quicksilver 2002   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi
If it's the small processor fan in the black plastic shroud:
Unplug the red and black fan cable from the logic board by pulling it straight up (without pulling directly on the wires).
Undo the two screws securing the shroud to the case. This is done from the outside and the screws go through the outermost ventilation holes (left and right sides with the case open) above the ports.
Lift the shroud still containing the fan up and out of the computer.
Remove the fan from the shroud.
If it's the larger case fan in the metal shroud:
Disconnect the red and black fan cable by pressing the small locking tab on the black rectangular connector.
Undo the two screws securing the shroud to the case. One is below the shroud, the other is to the left, is slightly longer and also secures the bundle of cables. Both go through the metal flange.
Lift the shroud still containing the fan out of the computer.
Remove the fan from the shroud.

  • Need to replace my graphic card

Hello. My current graphic card is ati radeon x800 xt mac edition - for some reason the fan stopped working so I need to replace it.
My job place offers an ATI 40% discount so I'd like to stay with ATI. Only thing is they do not offer this exact card any longer. Are there any other cards that would be supported with this version of PPC?
Radeon® X1650 Pro 512MB AGP says it only supports xp
    Radeon® X1900 G5 Mac® Edition RoHS 256MB PCI Express® this I know isn't supported since my G5 doesn't have PCI-Express...
I never bought a graphic card before - so I'm super concerned about compatibility issues.
Do you know of any current ATI graphic cards that are supported with this G5?
    Power Mac G5 (PowerMac7,2)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2CPU 2GHZ 1GB RAM

There are four ATI cards that work in the AGP G5. In order of speed:
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Power Mac G5 Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC & Mac Edition (one single-link, one dual-link, DVI)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition (one ADC, one dual-link DVI)
They are all listed in the Mac section of ATI's web-site as current cards
    <http://ati.amd.com/products/mac.html>
They used to be listed in the store section, too, but since AMD bought ATI, they only list one Mac card there, and it is not AGP.
    Most are available at OWC

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Check the following manual for the part number of the fan you require:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62733.html
But I think 41V9932 is the part number you need based on information here for 2007-b4x:-http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62741#23

  • I need to replace my processors....how?

I need to replace my processors on my G5.
I already purchased the replacement processor, I just need instructions on how to do it.
    Can anyone help?

Whoever knows how to do a replacement for, please post it here.
Interestingly, I rand the Apple Hardware Test on my G5 (A CD that came with the computer). I ran the Quick and Extended versions. The Hardware Profile tab says I have a 2xPowerPC,G5 @1.8 GHz. So that must mean it's still reading two processors. By the way the fans have been blowing full blast for over an hour while it did these tests. So I restarted and now the darn thing is showing 2 processors (in Utilities=Activity Monitor). What happened? It "fixed" itself???
After starting up and waiting a minute, the G5 froze up. Then I got the gray screen telling me to restart.
I restarted. Then it froze up after I entered my login screen.
I force quit and restarted. Got past the login. Activity Monitor shows 2 processors. Got a dialog box: The computer was restarted after Mac OS X quit unexpectedly. I clicked "Report." Here's what it read:

I have the same problem in a 2Gen MBP 17. Not sure about the part numbers you listed.
I found the parts here but I have not yet ordered but I did remove the offending fan from my Mac and took a can of compressed air to it and that part on power bookmedic.com look to be an exact match for my 17.

  • Fan replacement - do I have discrete or UMA memory?

    Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6c80us laptop that I need to replace the cooling fan on.
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
    Intel HM65
    Intel core i7 2670QM
To order a replacement fan, I need to know whether I have:
    a graphics subsystem with
    2048-MB of discrete memory
    (Part #666391-001)
    a graphics subsystem with
    1024-MB of discrete memory
    (Part #666390-001)
    a graphics subsystem with
    UMA memory
    (Part #666392-001)
How do I find this information?
    Thanks.

If it only has the Intel HD 3000 Graphics, that is UMA.
The specs confirm that is the case:

  • Fan replacement: 26R9074 vs. 26R7957

I need to replace my fan on my 2005 T43 (Type 2668-71U). According to the user manual I need FRU 26R9074. I searched online for that number but came up with multiple vendors selling a fan number 26R7957 that's supposedly compatible. I've been trying to verify this unsuccessfully. Here's a link to the product (which sells for about $33).
    http://www.brainydeal.us/cooling-module-Notebook-26R9074-Thermal/dp/B004YIBXQO?traffic_src=froogle&u...
Alternatively, I have a link here for an actual 26R9074, but it's about double the price:
    http://www.thinkpad-parts.com/26R9074-ThinkPad.html.
Could I just go with the 26R7957 or should I get the real thing -- 26F9074 even though it's double the price (and not as commonly sold)?
    Thanks.

I've never done a fan on that model, but I've done several on the T61, and although there are many different heatsink/fan assemblies for different models, they all use the same actual fan which can easily be replaced in your existing heat sink. You can buy them for about $14 including shipping brand new.
I'd see if you can do this with this model too.
I'm sure one of my friends will be by to tell you specifically if you can or cannot do this on your model.

  • R61i fan replaced, now goes into standby every 20 to 25 minutes

First post on this forum. Having paid a tech ($$$!) to come to my home to replace the fan, I've had the additional issue of standbys occurring at least once per hour which are without a clean power down option, only unplugging the machine actually works. The tech denies that this issue is related to the fan replacement. Friends (non R61i users) say it's overheating or possibly the heat sink is not correctly positioned. Is this machine worth trying to repair? Yes it's old and an XP but my situation is such that I need guidance as to my next step. Any help appreciated.

I have replaced the fan on my R61 myself 3 times. It failed the first time when it was 4 years old, and each time I replaced it with a used fan bought on EBAY. Maybe they were too used. All you need to do it yourself is a copy of a few pages from the Hardware Maintenance Manual, a tube of thermal paste, a screw driver and about 30 minutes of your time.
The last time it failed, I did not replace it. I bought a can of compressed air, and blew it over the fan blades, which were heavily coated with dust, and it has been working fine since then (although I do have a spare waiting to be used just in case).
I am thinking that possibly, the thermal paste was not reapplied correctly. You cannot have a heat sink not correctly positioned on an R61 as the fan and heat sink are one unit, and fit tightly in position. There are many vidoes on the internet that will show you haw to change a fan.
    Good luck.

  • ThinkPad T60p fan replacement

Hello, the subject says it all, I need to replace the fan in my T60p asap... its coming on a year since I've got it and the fan was never an issue until a couple of days ago and now it sounds like it's on its last legs!  My question is what part numbers exactly do I need to reference for this? I noticed in the parts descriptions that there are 'discrete' and 'integrated' fans? I'm confused as to which part I actually need, please help me with this...
    Thanks in advance,
    Corey

    ctrlaltdelete, welcome to the forum,
members would be able to better help if they know which T60p you have. If you post your Type and Model Number, or better add it to your signature, this would help. If it ends in "CTO" you will need to provide a description of the main components.
