Ticker tape

I have just been told to see if I can provide text that is like a Wall street ticker tape for a test sequence. Any ideas where I would begin with that one?
Brian

In FCP, click on the Generator Button (the button with the "A" on it in the lower right corner of the Viewer) and from the drop down menu, choose Boris > Title Crawl.
Edit that to the timeline (it will be empty) where you want your text crawl to take place, then double click on the clip you just edited to load it to the viewer. Click on the Controls Tab, then the "Title Crawl" button. This will bring up the pane where you can enter and stylize your text.
When you have your text entered, click apply to have the text appear on the timeline. Depending on the horse power and complexity of the material the crawl is place on, you may have to render to see the effect play back in real time.
You can use the other controls under the control tab to make other adjustments.

  • How can you create a TICKER TAPE in MUSE?

I would like to have a ticker tape on my website which I am desiging in Adobe Muse. Is this possible and can someone explain how I can so this? Thanks

    Hi Melissa,
At the moment, probably the easiest way to do this is using Edge Animate, or another tool, to animate the text in a loop, and then place that within Muse. There are a lot of tutorials online that can help you do that, like this one on Lynda.com. You can also find help over on the Edge Animate forums section if you find you need more assistance.
    Hope that helps

  • Ticker Tape text scroller...

I am able to make a ticker-tape text scroll from right to left on my screen in PowerPoint,
but it scrolls so fast it is impossible to read it! Can it be slowed down? Please reply. Thanks!
    H. Slovic

    Dear Meg St. Clair,
Thanks for your reply! Very kind of you, and I appreciate.
Actually, I'm working on an iMac using PowerPoint for Mac in MS Office for Mac. I have succeeded in creating a right-to-left "ticker tape" of text at the bottom of the screen, but there is no way to adjust/control the speed of "fly by," and it currently flies by so fast it is a blur--not very useful... The "ticker tape" function is so "basic" (it appears on almost every news channel here in Japan), that it amazes me it's not a standard animation feature on either PowerPoint or Keynote. H. Slovic

  • Ticker tape during presentation??

Hello all. I'm a newbie with iMac. I use it in an education context - our school's announcements are presented on a few flat screen VGAs in the school using Keynote. My question... is there a better program out there that will do the same thing (ie. presentation in slide and video format) that will also allow me to display the weather or a ticker tape at the bottom with other announcements???
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums, turboprof.
You might check out the Revolution line of
multimedia authoring products. They're based on a
Hypercard-like foundation, and so should be much more
flexible than Keynote (although they may lack many of
Keynote's beautiful graphical niceties). You might
    also check out iSh
ell, although it appears it is more geared to CD
    multimedia.
Thank you. I guess what I'm looking for is the software tv companies use. (ie. CP24 in Toronto). I've looked at what you suggested and I don't think it will answer to our school's needs.

  • Adding Flash ticker tape display of still photos

This questions is really directed to "Old Toad" - I find your sample iWeb site extremely useful however I have a question. On your example of a flash ticker tape display you mention that the HTML was obtained from OVI.COM - I cannot find anything even remotely related on this site - HELP??

    Pat:
First you need to create an account on OVI.com, upload the photos you want to a "channel". That's somewhat equivalent to an album in iPhoto. In that channel you click on share this channel and there will be code available for a ticker tap, a slideshow, etc. You copy that code and put it into an HTML Snippet on a page. Viewers who click on the ticker tape would normally be taken to your channel at the OVI.com site. To prevent that put a transparent shape over the ticker tape item.

  • I used the ticker tape mode to add subtitles to a clip. When playing it in the pc, the Subtitles are fine, however, when playing it on the tv, only the top half of the words are visible. Any idea why?

I added subtitles to a movie clip using the ticker tape option. When viewing on the iMac, the words are visible, however, when playing it in the tv, only the top half of the words are visible. Does anyone know why?

I would agree with Keith Barkley, it may be the TV Safe Area. You can see what spots might be blocked out or cut off by going to iDVD and opening the original DVD project, under the View Menu > Show TV Safe Area. If your title gets cut off by the cropping rectangle displayed, that may account for the cut-off.

  • Can't move or adjust length of "ticker tape" titles

Ticker titles are now overlapping? When I change time length in the inspector dialog length doesn't change.
I discovered by chance that I could drag a title spanning across video and still picture clips but now no matter how or what I click I am unable?
I'm imagine I could delete and start over but would rather have active control.

I added the positional overrides L1 Offset and L2 Offset (X & Y).  These let you adjust the "ending positions" of the text on the screen (literally anywhere you like). They can be keyframed (see animated gif below).  I also added a Fade In/Fade Out on the texts (only for the Build In / Build Out durations.) The reason being that if you move the texts towards the edges of the viewer, they will start already in view. The fade in/outs make that a little less noticeable. Otherwise, it is exactly the same effect as the original.
tightened "line-spacing" and animated slight drifts:
You can download the altered Title here.

  • Ticker Code

Hello Folks - I am new to Java and like to dive right into some code. I am looking for some sample code for a ticker tape that would scroll along the bottom of the desktop (not within a web browser). The input for the ticker tape would be a text file or db. Any ideas where I can find some sample code? Thanks.

  • IPad tap (click) timeout?

I am developing a web app (Javascript) for the iPad and I detect the touchstart and touchend events to detect touches and taps (and to get rid of the 300ms tap delay). This works fine.
However I feel that if I tap many buttons in sequence, some taps are not registered because I moved my finger between touchstart and touchend.
So I thought of a timeout, that if touchend is called within e.g. 100ms from touchstart it is registered as a tap.
OR maybe it is better to check how far the finger moved (maybe allow 10-15 pixels move)?
What is a good timeout (100ms?) or pixel area (10-15px?)?
    Thank you!

I'm really having a problem with this as well.
I have a MBP from March 08, my trackpad started randomly failing to tap click in about September, I have applied all the updates from apple and am running 10.5.6, nothing seems to have helped so far. I have tried trashing these preferences and resetting it.
    HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.universalaccess.plist & com.apple.systempreferences.plist
tried rebooting holding down various keys to reset various things, all to no avail.
If anyone can think of any other ideas please help as this is driving me mad as its only fixed by a restart, un-ticking and re-ticking tap to click in system pref's or if you wait a while it might start working again!!
I think these problems are all linked:

  • How do you import photos into IPhoto from a RSS feeder?

I want to create a Photocast so I can deliver pictures into my friend's photo management program of choice. I have IPhoto 6 but my friends that have IPhoto 5 are having trouble. When I send them a Photocast, they can put the URL in the Safari Address Bar. They can see the pictures. But when you click and drag them to Iphoto, they do not get added to the Library, even though the green plus sign appears. The same thing happens if you drag to a desktop...an image appears on the desktop, but when you click it, nothing happens. It's like it's not a complete file or something.
Now,back in SAFARI, if you click the title of the picture file, it expands in the window. Then you CAN drag it to your desktop as a complete file, but it will still not add to IPhoto.
What is the best way to send pictures to friends other than sending emails with attachments?

Allan's suggestion of using the iDisk will work but will fill up the iDisk unless you do housecleaning occasionally. Another, non Apple way would be to upload them to an account on Twango.com. It sort of like MyTube but for photos and videos and is more personal in nature. It's free (monthly uploads are limited to 250MB/mo) and others can easily pop into your public channel (individual sections of a person's account are called channels) and download whatever size you want. You can select the size of your uploads from full sized to 1600, 1024 or 640 pixels max. What I like about the site is that you can email photos to your account. Makes it rather easy. You can also add slideshows and a ticker tape type of display from Twango to web pages (they create the code to use for the channel you select) like this. It's not an Apple thing but I've found it's quick. May or may not be what you're looking for.

  • Slow Performance of JApplet with Firefox Plugin in Linux

    Hi everyone,
I recently revisited an applet I wrote 8 years ago. It's a simple ticker tape. I need a ticker tape for a larger project I am working on, and I had to convert it from AWT to Swing.
Anyway, with the new 1.6.0_xx plugin for Firefox 2.0.0.5 under Fedora 7, the performance is slow and the text scrolls by in a choppy manner. However, if I run the mouse over the JApplet area or the Java console itself while it is running, the text scrolls by smoothly. This does not happen with the 1.5.0_xx series plugin, and although the JApplet was compiled with the 1.4.2_15 compiler, I cannot find a plugin from that series that works with Firefox 2.0.0.x to test if the problem is there as well.
So, can anyone help me out? Is this a known issue with the newest plugin? I don't think there's an error in the code. Both the embedded applet and source code can be found at this URL: http://www.brian-borowski.com/Ticker/
Thanks in advance for your help.
    -Brian

I tried to do a simular thing, but I did not notice a performance decrease. However it might be possible that this happens. For example, if you are calling a time critical vi in the second while loop, it will lock all other processes until it is finished. Or maybe you are calling a shared resource (allocate an array, access to a file, using a mutex) that the other loop holds. Until the shared resource is released the first while loop must wait before it can access that resource (memory, file, etc.).
Without looking at the source code it will be hard to say what is causing it. I recommend to remove part by part subVI's from the second loop, to debug where the problem exists. If you want I can have a look at the code, please reply to this thread.

  • Gallery for pics & movies?

This m,ight be off topic for this discussion, but I wasn't sure where else to ask. Feel free to point me to a different discussion group if you know of a more appropriate one.
I am looking for a gallery application for web creation that will accept both pictures and movies.
I'd prefer if there was an index tree for the photo/movie folders.
I like Jalbum's Bananalbum, but I can't see that it works for movies other than .swf's with no controls. I'm good with using .swf's, but I think there should be some movie controls with it.
Here's an example of a Jalbum Bananalbum that has a nice, simple and clean look.

    Luke:
As Smtr mentioned I like Twango.com as it will take both video and pictures. It's not as snappy as iWeb, more like a cross between Utube and one of the photo sites. It lets you embed slideshows and ticker tape photo displays in other pages like this. Good luck.
    Do you Twango?
