Tidal Enterprise Scheduler Upgrade Paths

Hi guys....
We currently run Tidal Masters v5.3.1 and Linux Agents 3.0.x. We've been running in an environment so strict to changes that I didn't look at upgrade options for years. But now that EOL already kicks in... I have no choice but to look at upgrades.
From my understanding ... the highest available upgrade for this version is Masters 6.0 using the same licensing methods.
To upgrade to latest version (6.2?) ... the licensing model will change to per physical machine.
Did I understand things correctly?
I've been trying to understand the technical changes too... but it seems a little vague... can a Cisco professional help me understand the major differences between
- 5.3.1 and 6.0
- 6.0 and 6.2

Hi seniblue,
Welcome to TES @ Support Forums. Have you reviewed your MLA to see what it covers - and how long support is for? And did you know that Cisco has pushed the EOL & EOS date further into January 31, 2016. So you still have time, but planning should start now.

Tidal 6.0 is pretty buggy from what I've been told, and to perform an upgrade -- it would be better to jump from 5.3 to 6.2 directly. There are a lot of people in a similar situation, please check out

  • Help Regarding Tidal Enterprise Scheduler with SAS

Actually, we have SAS Server running on Windows 7. Till the day one of the developer is manually running the jobs.
Now client want to use Tidal Enterprise Scheduler for all Servers(including SAS) for executing jobs, which is present in another windows 7. We are working on SAS with Tidal.
We have created a .bat file on SAS server which is having below line.
    “C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\SAS.EXE" -SYSIN "\\uscol2k3sas02\SASBATCH\VDM\Batch\BatchRunSas\PCRPManualAdjustmentsDaily_testing.sas"
Then finally we are trying to schedule the .bat file in Tidal. We have received the status as “status change to Externally Defined” without executing the job in SAS server.

  • Tidal Enterprise Scheduler - Get Job status using c#

Is it possible to get the list of jobs scheduled and their status in Tidal Enterprise scheduler using a programming language like C# ?

API depends on your version and you need to have the client installed from Server/DEsktop initiating the API
the PDF document should have been included on you CD2 called Command Line Program Guide
I will use 5.3.1 as an example:
    open a command prompt
    Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\TIDAL\Scheduler\client
type in set alias=DEV > example=DEV otherwise it defaults to Admiral
    type in SACMD
type  HOST I always type in HOST so I can verify what master I am running against (nio need if only one connection)
type in jobmon with your options I included below from doc
    [-d date] +display_options [filtering_options] [-b]
It may be of limited use in 5.3.1 because to isolate you need to know Job ID or Alias or some other filter critiera... Job ID is in database jobmst.dbo.jobmst_id which is the unique identified and can be different from alias... depending on your  requirements (dashboard?) and how you have organized your jobs a SQL query would be the better option.

  • Cicso Tidal Enterprise Scheduler

We use Tidal Enterprise Scheduler for the submitting of our batch processes on Unix and Windows platforms.  Currently we run SAS on windows and use the SAS adapter to make this happnen.  Now a director wants to know how we can run SAS using Tidal on a Unix platform.  Does Tidal require another adapter for this?, if not does anyone have an example of how to get Tidal to submit batch processes to run SAS on  Unix?
    Thanks

It disturbs me you received no answer on this forum. I'll leave something for others who still have this question.
We use the Oracle adapters (not SAP) but ERP adapters are platform independent.  You may have a component that installs on your unix SAS platform different than on Windows; however, you license to the SAS adapter doesn't change.
If you were using Windows command line processes as well since your platform was on Windows but will now be on Unix, you may have to get the SSH adapter for unix/linux so that you can invoke OS level processes in the new SAS environment. But you business processes scheduled under the SAS adapter should work as is (or by increasing the patch level of them). Typically going from Windows to unix you're likely updating your SAS version so you need to check that version support with Tidal.
SAS platform are a good time to get your Tidal SAS agent up to the latest patch level as well.

  • Regarding Calendar Expiry in Tidal Enterprise Scheduler

    Hi All,
While checking the Tidal Admiral DB i found that the Table evntmst contains a column evntmst_untildt which contains information about the Last possible calendar date to include. If the date mentioned is 31st DEC 2013 does it means after this date the Calendar will get expire? if so how to change the expiration date.
    Thanks.
    Parul.

The data model says that field is Last possible calendar date to include
Looking at our dates in our database I would say that that field isn't used for either calculation or expiraiton.
I think Cisco TAC would have to comment further, but if I were to bet... I would say that it was obsoleted...
I just created a calendar in our dev environment and heres what I found:
evntmst_untildt        <--- looks like this stores the calculated date 3 years out to the end of that year
    2016-12-31 00:00:00.000
evntmst_lstcmptm   <-- last Last time dates for this calendar were compiled
    2013-09-11 11:43:50.000
if Calendars did expire it would create huge operational headaches..
How would you even know what the value is as I don't think that field is exposed through the GUI
    From a best practices/maintenance perspective
We calculate all our calendards annually in december to project out the date 3 years
    Marc

  • Tidal Enterprise Scheduler is Sending Blank E-mails

    Hi,
We're trying to pin down what exactly is happening - jobs running (whether they fail or not) are returning e-mails to users (as intended) with nothing in them (which is not intended).
It was my understanding that the emails returned to users usually do not behave in this manner. They seem to be sending them repeatedly during one time interval (one user got three emails with nothing in them at 10:00AM).
    Thanks.

I'd suggest going to 6.2.1 patched up to the eyeballs There have been some big improvements in performance and the new java client is actually pretty nice.
A big win was swapping ojdbc7.jar to ojdbc6.jar which I think is something you can do in 6.1.
For us it turned the web client from borderline useless to very effective.

  • Hyperion Enterprise 6.4 Financial Reporting upgrade path

We are currently using Hyperion Enterprise 6.4 Financial Reporting and would like to know what the upgrade path is to the most recent version.
What is the most recent version and can our current version be upgraded directly to it, or will the latest version need to be installed on the same server or a different server?
    Let me know.
    Thanks.

The latest version for Financial Reporting available is EPM 11.1.2.2.
You may need to migrate first to 9.3.3 or 11.1.3.3 and then move to 11.1.2.2 which is the upgrade path.
You could refer the documentation for 11.1.2.2 in the following link : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_1.htm
    For 9.3.x : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10530_01/welcome.html
    For 11.1.1.x : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/index.htm

  • Upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 to R2 Fails - Unsupported Upgrade Path

    Hi everybody,
I'm currently upgrading our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 after have finished with the upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 CU4, thus far everything works fine, but when I try to update any
of the site servers, whether CAS or Primary, I'm getting the following error message in the Prerequisites Check:
I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,
etc, have been followed as per the official documentation available, however I'm stuck in this point, and surely enough I haven't been able to find out a similar case.Additionally I'm adding
the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
the impression that it's being cached somehow.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.

    Hello again everybody,
I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE

And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.

  • Error Message: "This upgrade path is not supported"

    Scenario
During the process of upgrade to Windows 10 Technical Preview, we may encounter the error “This upgrade path is not supported. Please close Setup and re-launch from the root of the media or go back and pick a different installation
    choice.” in the Compatibility report.
    Analysis
Step 1: Perform the scenario 1: the upgrade installation fails.
Reproduce this error following the steps below:
Download the Windows 10 Technical Preview ISO installation file.
Extract the ISO installation file to C:\New folder, and now the location of the installation file is
    C:\New folder\9841.0.140912-1613.FBL_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_VOL_X64FRE_EN-US\.
Click setup.exe from the installation file, and then click
    Install now.
Setup is starting, and then get two options Upgrade and
Custom which is the classic setup wizard which we can see during booting from DVD.
Click Upgrade to run upgrade installation, however, the error occurs.
It seems that it is impossible to perform upgrade installation to Windows 10 Technical Preview, although it is fine to click
Custom to perform clean installation which cannot keep the personal setting and applications.
However, what we want is upgrade installation, not clean installation.
Step 2: Perform the scenario 2: the upgrade installation works fine.
If extract the ISO installation to C:\New in the above step2, click the
setup.exe from the installation file C:\New\9841.0.140912-1613.FBL_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_VOL_X64FRE_EN-US\, the upgrade installation would work fine, which is as shown the following two figures:
    Step 3: Check the setupact.log
file which contains information about setup actions during the installation of the two scenarios.
Scenario 1: Check the setupact.log file of the scenario 1. The detailed information is shown as below:

Scenario 2: Check the setupact.log file of the scenario 2. The detailed information is shown as below:
2014-10-14 19:08:04, Info UI Determining whether we should run ConX or legacy setup
2014-10-14 19:08:05, Info UI Will launch ConX setup experience

According to the two logs, we can get the following points:
In scenario 1, it would invoke the SetupPrep.exe in the source folder directly to perform an installation preparation. However, it failed to recognize the path
C:\New folder\9841.0.140912-1613.FBL_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_VOL_X64FRE_EN-US\Sources\SetupPrep.exe. Then it would launch legacy setup.
In the scenario 2, Windows setup would be redirected to the ConX setup to perform upgrade installation automatically.
So, what is the difference of the scenario 1 and 2 to bring the different results of upgrade installation?
    Workaround
Based on lots of testing, we find that if there is no space in the extracting location of the ISO installation
file, the upgrade installation would work fine.
What’s more, we can get the meaning of the two setup models in the setupact.log:
Legacy setup: it is same with setup from DVD boot.
ConX setup: it would check the compatibility and language UI for upgrade preparation, then perform migration and upgrade directly.

    Hello,
I would guess that existence of a space in the folder name is what the issue is.  Try removing the space from the folder name and see if works. New_Folder for example

  • Upgrade path to Siebel 8.1.1.5

    Hi,
Does any one know the exact upgrade path to Siebel 8.1.1.5 from 8.0.0.6 SIA.
    This is for SIA Applications.
    Thank you

    Wilson,
The same document has this note, which is causing the confusion.
For Siebel Enterprise Applications customers who are upgrading to the Siebel 8.1.1.3 Fix Pack, the upgrade path is as follows: Upgrade to Siebel version 8.1.1, Siebel 8.1.1.1, or Siebel 8.1.1.2, and then upgrade to Siebel 8.1.1.3. This applies to a Siebel database upgrade only.
8.x to 8.1.1 is fine but the going to 8.1.1.3 FP is not clear.
8.1.1.3 FP maintenance doc doesn't talk about any upgrade.

  • 10.2.0.4 on OEL x86-64 Upgrade Path Issues

I am performing a new installation of Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM GC). I want to want to run Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.04 on Linux x86-64 - OEL 4 update 5. My installation for OMS and Repository will be on one server. I will install the database separate from the OEM GC installation.
My upgrade path is a full install of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.3 followed by patch to 10.2.0.4. I desire to have my databases at 11g so I would have to upgrade 10gR2 database to 11g database as well. My questions are as follows:
    1) Linux x86-64 is not supported on 10.2.0.3 according to certify page. Why is OEL 4 update 4,5 not on Certification page for OEM GC?
    2) What installation instruction set should I follow for 10.2.0.3 GC on Linux x86-64? Linux x86-64 documentation following RHEL install?
    2) Oracle 11g Repository is also not supported on 10.2.0.3. Is it possible (is it supported?) for me to install Oracle Database 11.1.0.6 EE as repository for OEM GC 10.2.0.3 then only patch OEM GC to 10.2.0.4?
    Thank you.

There is no direct full installer to 10.2.0.3 Database. Do I need to do the following:
    1) Install OEL 4 Update 5 x86_64
    2) Meet prerequisites for Oracle Db 10.2.0.1 (x86_64 - only full installer is 10.2.0.1)
    3) Patch Db to 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3 (is there a reason for 10.2.0.3)
    4) Install OEM GC 10.2.0.3
    a) requires 10.1.0.4, 10.1.0.5, 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3 database
    b) use ignore system requirements parameter since OEL 4 Update 5 (x86_64) is not supported
    5) I am not sure if any patches are required to OS, DB or OEM at this level
    6) Patch OEM GC 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4
    7) I am not sure if any patches are required to OS, DB or OEM at this level
    8) Follow note: 467677.1 replacing OEM GC 10.2.0.1 with my version 10.2.0.3 and upgrade db to 11g
    done
Does this look correct? Is there a more efficient way?

  • Corporate upgrade path to windows 10?

You should still buy one 10 Pro volume license for the re-imaging rights.  Until someone says otherwise, you would need to install 7/8 Pro, upgrade in-place and accept the new EULA, then you can re-image the device (or just stick with the upgrade).

So about a year ago my company dropped its volume licensing agreement with Microsoft. All of our computers we order come with windows 7 pro pre-installed and licensed for windows 8 pro. However, because we have already over bought on our volume licensing when we ordered, we are still deploying our image with windows 7 Enterprise. We do not have licensing for windows 10 under the now cancelled agreement, only windows 7 & 8.Anyhow, so I can't use the enterprise upgrade path to 10, so I must use windows 7/8 and then upgrade to 10, THEN I can wipe it to do a clean install of windows 10. Is that correct? Can you make an Orchestrator playbook to install windows 7, upgrade to 10, then format and install windows 10 clean? I know that seems like a lot of fuss to just get windows 10, but it would be free as we have already paid for the licenses...

I am trying to upgrade EPM 8.9(8.49.23) to EPM 9.1 (8.53.08). During dataconversion step the AE process finished succssfully in few seconds. When i see the log it says "There are no conversions to run for upgrade path PF89 (18028,10003)". Please let me know why it didnt do any conversion. Am i missing something?

yes, that app engine didnt inserted any rows. So now when i tried to drill down i found that there was no data in the "new demo" database on table UPG_DATACONV. That is the reason for all this.
When i applied required for upgrade patch in demo it said couple of patch already exists so those update i skipped. Now when i check upd877654 has a step which imports the data in this table. my change assistant told that the update is already available in my demo so i skipped. Now i am not sure what to do.
I tried reimporting the data and running the analyzer again. But worried that there can be any issues due to this.
