TIF File Type Reads as PhotoDeluxeBusiness.TIFFile HELP

I use Photoshop 7 and PageMaker 6.5 with Windows XP and after connecting and installing a new Maxtor backup unit all of the .tif files on the computer are now PhotoDeluxeBusiness.TIFFile file types. This computer does not have Photo Deluxe software on it and I do not know where this new file type came from. The problem seems to only be on this computer as images opened on another computer still open as a tif.
The images will still open in Photoshop and appear as normal tif files but they are not recognized by PageMaker and thus all of the images in the PageMaker documents have become unlinked.
b Does anyone know of a way to change the file type back to a normal TIF and a way to re-link the PageMaker documents?

Find a tif file on your system. Right click on that file and select properties. On the General tab click the change button for open with. Now find the program that normally opens tif files when you double click on them.
To see the tiff extention if it is hidden:
In windows explorer, click the tools menu. Click folder options. Click the view tab. Under advanced settings find "Hide extentions for known types". Uncheck the box to see the file extentions.
Note: In the folder options you can change the properties of files extentions there as well.

despite the workaround, it doesn't fix the real problem. It shouldn't be a huge deal for adobe to add support for multiple svn versions. Dreamweaver is the first tool i've used that works with svn that doesn't support several types of svn meta data. If they're going to claim that Dreamweaver supports svn is should actually support svn, the current version, not a version several years old. This should have been among the first patches released, or at least after snow leopard came out (and packaged with it the current version of svn).
does anyone know if the code that handles meta data formatting is something that is human readable, or where it might be, or is it in compiled code.

  • File type changing during "Save As" - Help!

Good Morning!  I have a set of tif files converted from RAW that I'm resizing for an order for a client and every time I do a "Save As", the file gets changes to an extension of $CB, then Adobe and nothing else will recognize it.
    The history;
Converted RAW to Tif in Bridge CS3
Opened in PSCS3 extended - cropped to size - do the Save As, still shows the file as a Tif in file type - reopened the original to make another size and noticed that file I just created is not there.  No, I didn't save the file with the same name, thus Save As.
My normal file naming, I just add a designated letter at the end of my file name to indicate the finished size ie.. legion post 576_001D.tif (D = 8 x 10)  The original file would be    legion post 576_013.tif.  I did this on 3 different computers, using PS 7.01, CS2, CS3 and CS4, all the same results.
Also, I can view the original tif in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer - as I normally am able to, however, this new one comes up with the error and unrecognizable file.
Now I'm wondering did the RAW conversion did something.
Help, I need to get these off to my printing service!
    thanks,
    Jan

    Never mind!  Found the problem!
For some reason, there was a check on the “Hide Extensions for Known file Types”.
I had to Go to Tools – Folder Options – View and uncheck “Hide Extensions for Known file Types”.  Would have never guessed that one!
You know one of those places your always changing things in!!!!! NOT!
    Anyway, it works!

  • Itunes delays ONLY when playing mp3's. Also it delays when I move any file type into a playlist. Help! I'm about to go back to Windows Media Player!

Hi friends! Like I said Itunes delays ONLY when playing mp3's. Also it delays when I move any file type into a playlist.
    Here's what I've done so far;
I 've checked my external hardrive (by playing it off my internal instead), I've tried reinstalling (although it wasn't an uninstall), I've tried clicking on all the neccesary boxes (let itunes organize files, copy files, consolidate, and reorganize), I've tried different sound cards, I've tried moving files quickly (as some have said this works). I'm not sure what's wrong. I have 7000 songs.
    Any help would be great!

Have you tried installing Media Manager on another computer and streaming the songs from there?
How about smaller playlists? See the same problem?

  • Help with file type

In Adobe Camera Raw, is there a way to select the file type that you save your image in. It seems .dng or DMG are the onle file types, or am I missing something. I would like to save my orginal CR2 file and save a copy in jpeg for others to open. Please help.

NO.  Don't click on Save Image Button.  Instead go to:
    File >> Save as
You'll get a dialog like this one:
You need to click on the arrow shown in the red box to select the various file types.

  • .tif files wouldn't open with Reader XI. It said  they weren't supported or were damaged. I uninstalled readerXI and installed Reader DC and it still doesn't work. When I send them to another computer, they open without any problems. What can I do next?

Reader XI would not open several files. It said .tif was not a supported file type or it was damaged. I uninstalled Reader XI and installed Reader DC with the same results. When sent to another computer, they open with no problems. What do I do next?

The other computer must have something that opens .tif files. Adobe Reader has always only opened .pdf files.
If you are double clicking on a .pdf and Reader is trying to open the file, you need to set your systems file associations for the proper program to open that file type.

  • When I try to open a PDF downloaded from Adobe DC I get an error message:Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email

When I try to download a PDF from Adobe DC, I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)"
I am using a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.5, Safari browser. Previous versions of Adobe Acrobat have worked fine for years.

What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

  • How do you set default save file type

My Photoshop when I choose save as is choosing TIF as the default file type after opening a raw file. I want to choose PSD as the default. I cannot figure out how to change the setting to raw.

Hi, Unfortunately, Photoshop will chose a format that fits the minimal requirements of a file according to the absence/presence of layers.
You could go to the feedback website, http://feedback.photoshop.com and ask for a preference to set the default file type.

  • Can I exclude certain file types in the Photo Downloader?

    Hi there!
I am very new here, so please do correct me on etiquette and if I'm doing something wrong. I've been searching the web for quite a while now but couldn't find an answer or even questions concerning this problem...
I like using Bridge's Photo Downloader, for the nice renaming and other options it gives me. Usually I want to download all images from a card and then delete them on the card. The problem I am having is that Photo Downloader will not only see images (like .JPG, .CR2 or .ARW) but camera database files and settings (.INT, .BDM, .BIN, ...). This is annoying, since I neither want them stored on my hard drive nor deleted on my card. I also would like to import movies in a different way. The way I can work around this now is that I manually deselect all non-images in the Advanced Dialog and then only download these. But I was hoping that there is a more elegant and automatic way to just exclude certain file types from automatic selection. Or even just a way to mark or unmark the images by file type. This should be very easy to implement and I am really curious if I am missing something obvious here or if this is just not possible yet.
Has anyone else thought this before? Or are you all using different methods to import images from your card reader?
Any help or comment is appreciated.

Sorry, download history is either on or off. There is no preference setting to exclude specific file types.

  • Trying to sort library by file type

Hey all, I'm trying to sort by file type so it can quickly arrange all the TIFF files together in one easy to see group. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong here, because it keeps just slightly rearranging my images, but not putting all TIFF together and all RAW together. They are still mixed, and I have to select by hand, which negates the purpose of sorting by file type for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, that worked. I guess out of sake of discussion though, is there not a way to just apply a view filter while in the library module to show only files of a certain type? Like in Bridge, how you can set a view filter for like... Anything. Am I missing something here? This seems like it should work too, because on the bottom of the screen there is a fly down menu that lets you select things like file type, extension, etc... Yet it doesn't seem to actually work as far as narrowing down what you are looking at in your window.

  • LR 3.3 Import Dialog - Can imports be filtered by file type?

I sometimes use a Canon S95 point and shoot and a workaround to have RAW images AND a certain aspect ratio (such as square) is to shoot with the RAW + JPEG setting. This allows me to shoot in any aspect ratio with out cropping in post. For this reason, my import dialog in LR shows both the RAW images and the corresponding JPEG images. Often I wish to simply dump the JPEGs and keep the RAWs.
Is there any way to selectively check or select just the RAWs other than having to hand check each and every RAW while avoiding the JPEGs. In other words, is there a way to filter or segregate just what you want to import by file type.
    Thanks for your help!

Ian, thanks so much for your reply. However that material in the link was WAY over my head. Now that I know that indeed I cannot filter by file type in the import dialog, I will simply import all and delete the JPEGs once in the library module where I can quickly filter by file type and delete the unwanted files there. Thanks for helping me out.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 displaying the wrong icon for certain file types

I recently upgraded to the Maverick and I noticed that my Dreamweaver changed some of my files' icon to Acrobat Reader symbol. This does not represent the actual file type. My most important files, such as mp3 and m4v, are not displaying correctly. My concern is that it is affecting my website. How do I change the icons back to the original file type icons? Much needed help! Thanks!

What do local file associations have to do with your website? You have a severely wrong understanding of this stuff. Anyway, file associations on Mac can be changed using a right-click and Get Info and then choosing a new default program for the file type.

  • Setting Quicktime File Types

I keep checking the "default" Quicktime box under Quicktime "Preferences/File Types tab, to set my Quicktime File Types, but Quicktime is refusing to let me do this, insisting on checking all the file types and using itself to open everything. Particularly, I can't seem to get it to uncheck the "Video For Windows (AVI)" and "MPEG Media" choices, even though checking the "default" box unchecks them. However, when I re-open the Preferences window, they are always re-checked again! This is driving me C R A Z Y!!!
I've rebooted the computer, tried resetting my file types with my other programs, and Quicktime still insists on "taking over" and rechecking these boxes each time I reopen the Preferences/File types tab.
Can anyone help me stop Quicktime from doing this. I don't know what else to do to get Windows Media Player and my VLC Media Player back playing my video and Youtube video files! Aarrrrgggghhhh!!
    Thanx,
    Lida

    Hi,
I feel your pain regarding Quicktime 7.4.5 not letting go of file types. I didn't want to mess with the registry or security permissions, so I downgraded to 7.2. I'm contemplating upgrading to 7.3.1, but I'll do more research. The downside to doing this is that I cannot watch iTunes videos and the security risks. Since I use iTunes for music and don't go to fringe Web sites, it doesn't hurt that much. The minimum version of Quicktime that iTunes 7.6 uses is 7.1.6, so I'll stick with 7.2 or 7.3.1 until Apple fixes this.
There are problems with 7.4.5 in Mac OS Tiger, too. I'm using 7.2 there as well.
    Cheers!

  • Some file types not listed in Applications settings

    OS: Windows XP SP3
    Firefox 4.0 & Pale Moon 4.0.5
I have a problem when I download files of the executables type (.exe). Previously, I have checked the sign so that Firefox automatically download the file via download manager. Unfortunately, some sites disallow downloading with it. But, when I want to change the setting, I can't find the executables type in the Applications settings. So, how I download normally again? Please help!

I think the setting you need must be in the add-on's settings.
Firefox's Tools > Options > Applications is for downloads that need an application to open them. Executables are designed to run directly on the OS rather than being opened by another application. Also, executable files usually are sent from the server with a generic binary file header, so Firefox will not be able to match them up with a particular file type.

  • Base file type error on import

I created a bunch of custom item types in my dev environment.
then i decided to clean up the ones i wasn't using, so that I, and content owners wouldn't be tempted to use them.
one of the item types i deleted was the base file type.
all kinds of content items which had been loaded and tagged with properties dissappeared, many pages quit working, all kinds of problems.
I rebuilt the base file type
    then repaired all the pages
then added all the content back
HOWEVER, now I am unable to import a transport set built from these "repaired" pages...because i get an error saying that the base file type does not match.
So...I exported and imported the shared items...thinking that my rebuilt base file type would now be in the target environment as well. Didn't work.
Any ideas how to fix my blunder? And oh by the way...NEVER DELETE A BASE FILE TYPE.
    Thanks for any help.

    hi dennis,
looking at your problem i suggest opening a service request with oracle support services. this looks like a severe problem that will be hard to diagnose in this forum.
