Tif/Tiff !!!!!

Hi,
When saving in Aperture 1.1. It saves Tiff files as Tiff, but Photoshop saves them as Tif. Is there a way to get either Aperture to save as Tif, or Photoshop to save as Tiff. It's annoying when editing an image in both programs, becuse you've got 2 versions.
I.e. Editing image 001.tiff in Aperture and saving as tiff, then opening the new 001.tiff in CS2 and saving as 001.tiff instead of 001.tif.
or
Editing image 001.tiff in CS2 and saving as tif, then opening the new 001.tif in Aperture and saving as 001.tif instead of 001.tiff.
Hope that makes sense
Thanks

I'm not too sure what the problem is. I just exported a raw file in Aperture to .tiff. Opened it in Photoshop and after editing it went to SAVE. It kept the .tiff extension.
If what you need is just adjusting something that Aperture can't, then your best bet is to use the "open with external editor" option in Aperture. In Preferences, you can select tiff format if you want.
The workflow then would be, adjusting Raw in Aperture, select edit in external editor, which creates a version in Tiff or Psd format and open it automaticly in Photohop. You finish editing it there and then close the file, when ask to save the changes click yes and the version created in aperture would be update with the changes done in Photoshop.

  • Cannot view TIF, TIFF files,

    Just installed Itunes w/quicktime. Now I cannot open any of my TIF or TIFF files that were able to be viewed with Microsoft Picture viewer. Seems to default to Quicktime, but screen is blank. Any ideas?

    Ta again Kirk!
    Yeah, after I posted this I remembered about the possibility of Windows file associations, and thought I should have checked on that too. Hadn't got back to do anything about it though.
    (On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I've gotten the QuickTime PictureViewer and the QuickTime Player to display tiffs in the past during the course of some testing ... so given that this chap's getting a blank QT screen (of some description) when trying to open the files, I'm wondering if something else might be afoot too.)
    I've only got the XP Pro box on hand for a few hours, so I'll have to wait a short while before doublechecking how file association works on a Vista box. Then I'll pop back with instructions. (Or if someone else with a Vista box can drop by with instructions on changing a file association, that would be lovely.)

  • Multi-page Tif / Tiff  attachments

    Hello,
    I am working a lot with my Iphone4, there's a big problem with my mail attachments, i can't read multi-page tiff that I use very much (usually it is within "Fax2Mail" application) I can only read The first page of these files,other pages seems to not exist.
    I've made many tries, installing applications like quickoffice etc' but didn't solve The problem (also these applications showed only The first page)
    It is not practical to convert each file to PDF file.
    since it is a big issue for me, i would thank you a lot for your kind help.
    Thank you very much for your help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620 - Scan to TIFF?

    I don't own this MFP so it's not in front of me. I'm trying to assist a client who keeps sending PDFs that are too large for our portal.  If he could send as TIF/TIFF it would likely be much smaller.
    I've looked at the manual and don't see instructions/options for this.
    Does anyone have experience with this on this MFP? Is it possible?
    Thanks!!

    Hello there @Frannia  welcome to the forums!
    I have taken a screen shot from my HP Scan (on a Windows PC), there should be the option to change the file type to a TIFF file if the Everyday Scan is selected. See what I had highlighted in yellow below. Ignore the red arrow to scan as a PDF file.
    Also ensure the full feature driver and software is installed. If the driver is needed, click this link, select the operating system the printer needs to be installed on and scanned from, and download it here:

    I hope this helps!

  • Quicktime grabs Vista file associations in Internet Explorer (TIFF etc.)

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with Quicktime 7.6 and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows Vista - maybe someone here knows a fix? I've tried everything I could think of ... to no avail... Many thanks in advance for any hints!
    Trouble is:
    After installing iTunes 8.1.1 including QuickTime, whenever opening a TIF image in Internet Explorer 8, QuickTime will display it. I don't want that, I need to set a different application to open TIF files or to have Internet Explorer ask me whether I want the file displayed or download it.
    This is extremely annoying, since our HTTP scan server (HP) sends its files as TIF directly to the browser, so there is now link to the file to right-click on and chose "save as". Before installing iTunes/QuickTime, Internet Explorer asked me where I wanted to have the file saved - now it just displays the image using the QuickTime plugin and I can't save it anymore.
    I tried to right-click the image in the QuickTime display, it tells me I would need to buy QT Pro to save a copy.
    I opened QuickTime's options and disabled TIF and TIFF both in file types and in MIME types.
    Result: nothing; still IE8 displays TIF with QuickTime.
    I right-clicked on a TIF file on the harddisk, chose properties and changed the program with which to open the file (first Acrobat, than tried Windows image viewer, then Photoshop...).
    Result: nothing; still IE8 displays TIF with QuickTime. (When I open a TIF from a folder on the harddisk, Vista opens it in the program I specified - but any TIF within IE8 is still displayed with QuickTime).
    I opened Vista's control panel and set the standards for file type TIF/TIFF to a different programm.
    Result: no change, within IE8 any TIF image is still displayed using the QT plugin.
    I used Internet Explorer's Add-On settings to disable the QuickTime plugin.
    Result: any TIF image is displayed as a red X, it doesn't ask me what to do with it or where to save it.
    What can I do?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Best wishes
    Frank

    I used this link for tiff http://www.nrl.navy.mil/content.php?P=IMAGES
    QT was opening the tiff files. When going into the QT control panel Browser>Mime settings>Images-Still image files I was able to uncheck tiff, which held. I was also able to uncheck all the file types under File Types tab(Images-Still image files) in the QT control panel. However the preference would not hold. Went into Start>Set Program Access and Defaults that also was of no help.
    The only way I was able to get QT to release the tiff's from the website I posted was to go into the Folder Options control panel for File Types and change the tif & tiff from QT picture viewer to windows picture and fax viewer.
    So not sure why the QT control panel will not respond, there are other file types in the Folder options control panel on this computer other than tiff's that are still associated to QT, but didn't try changing them, perhaps that needs to be done?
    Good post I didn't realize this before reading your post, if I come across anything further I'll post back.

  • Bridge doesn't open tiff files in photoshop

    When I click a TIFF file in Adobe Bridge, the files is opened in a Windows viewer, not in Photoshop as I prefer.

    I appreciate your feedback, Ron, but although your answer is technically correct, it doesn't give the full story. What I found via Adobe Support is that I needed, in Adobe Bridge, to (1) go to Edit > Preferences> File associations; (2) Scroll down to TIFF (.tif, .tiff); (3) click the down arrow then click "Browse..."; (4) Find Photoshop.exe and select it through this path (in my Windows computer): C: > Program Files (x86)> Adobe> Adobe Photoshop CC> Photoshop.exe; (5) Then, press "Open", note that Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 is listed next to TIFF and click "OK".
    It worked!

  • Disable "Do you want to save changes to *.pdf before closing?" when closing a tif

    We upgraded to Office 2007 and decided to stop using the Office 2003 document imaging tool to view TIF TIFF files.  This tool wasn't included with Office 2007 so we started using Acrobat 9.1.3 Standard as our default TIF viewer.
    Here is the problem. When you close the TIF document you are prompted "Do you want to save changes to 'xxx.pdf' before closing?" Is there a way to disable this prompt?  We don't want to convert the files since they are in a read only database.

    Nope. Using WORD or Acrobat is forcing a conversion and it not an ideal way to view such files. In addition, you may want to change resolution or such of the graphic before you import it to something such as WORD. Many folks embed graphics that are 3500 dpi and millions of colors and totally bloat the file. They even crop the graphic and reduce the size, wondering why their DOC file is sooooo big. In that sense, there is an advantage to having some of the other tools available. You may have special needs and I do not want to second guess your company needs, so that is my two-cents worth. Sorry that I do not have other ideas, but using an existing graphics package would be the best for your need.

  • Pdf soll's werden - tiff wird gespeichert :(

    Guten Tag,
    Tagged Image File Format (*.tif, *.tiff)
    beim Wegklicken kommt dann die Fehlerausschrift: "PostScript-Ausgabe konnte nicht gespeichert werden."
    Liegt der Fehler bei den gespeicherten Druckerformaten in PageMaker? Was muss ich denn jetzt ändern? Bin langsam am Verzweifeln ...
    Danke für die Antwort
    Petra

    Vielleicht gibt es eine Größenbeschränkung für die Dateien, die auf dem Server abgelegt werden können.

  • QuickTime updates resetting TIF associations to PictureViewer

    My clients work with scanned docuements that are multi-page TIF files both at work and at home. This week's security updates to QuickTime reset the TIF association under Windows XP from Microsoft Office Document Imaging to QuickTime PictureViewer on many of the computers AGAIN! PictureViewer does support the display of single page TIF files within Internet Explorer, but DOES NOT support multi-page TIF files. Here are my requests to Apple:
    1. Respect the existing MIME setting for TIF files and do not reset to PictureViewer
    2. Explicitly warn users when changing the TIF association that they will loose the ability to view muli-page TIF files
    3. If a multi-page TIF file is opened in PictureViewer, warn users that additional pages cannot be shown.
    4. Upgrade PictureViewer 7.4.1 on Windows to allow the display of multi-page TIF files.
    5. Add these enhancements to the Macintosh version of PictureViewer as well
    I have run the installation on 4 computers myself and reproduced the problem 2 times. In all 4 cases I answered "No" to the prompt "Some of the file types associated with QuickTime applications are currently associated with other applications. Should I restore these file type associations to QuickTime?".

  • Viewing tif files using EasyDMS

    I have installed EasyDMS 6.0 SP16 non-unicode. When I double click on a tiff image , the image does not appear. If I "edit" the file the tif image is displayed and the little lock Icon appears in the EasyDMS window.Then if I double click on the image (after trying to edit it) the image will appear.
    Any ideas how to resolve this??
    Thanks much.

    I think I have things configured correctly in dc20 and dc30. I can view tiffs thru the gui (cv03n) and if I select a tiff from EasyDMS , right click , view thru gui and edit thru gui all work.
    If I select a tiff and right click then click on "edit file", the file opens in the picture viewer and the little lock icon appears. I can also then check in the file.
    The only item that does not work is the "view file" (without using the gui). I see the "Downloading File" box come up and I can see where the file goes into the temp directory, but the application never starts up.

  • Is there something wrong with Quicktime and TIFFs?

    I've been trying to see with Firefox the TIFF images of patents at the USPTO site and I can't. The browser advises me to install the missing plug-in although Quicktime is already installed. I wonder if it's a Quicktime problem or a Firefox one. I have a reason to believe there's something wrong with Quicktime though. Read on to see why.
    On my system the *TIFF Image Test* (from mozdev.org) fails although I have the latest Quicktime plug-in. This happens regardless of the browser I use, all latest editions: Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions) and Chrome 4. All seem to fail to recognize the presence of the installed Quicktime although my Windows OS is set to open TIF/TIFF files with Quicktime/PictureViewer.
    Running about:plugins on my Firefox does show the Quicktime plug-in for a variety of files but NOT for opening embedded TIF/TIFFs. Also, when I open *Tools -> Options -> Applications* I see there is no registered handler for TIF/TIFFs. They don't appear on the known Content Types.
    Is there something wrong with the installation of Quicktime? I can see USPTO TIFF images only with Safari which appears to have an integrated TIFF viewer. I haven't tried to install alternatiff or any other alternative TIFF handler.

    DocBAZ,
    I tried to visit the "test site" above. I'm not really sure it's an embedded image on a HTML page because I get a Firefox download window and a suggestion to open it with PictureViewer, which is the expected behavior for downloadable images. The mozdev.org test page on the other hand had an embedded image that needed the plugin, which is what is bugging me.
    If you want a real complex test page with both an embedded TIFF and a downloadable one check AlternaTIFF here: http://www.alternatiff.com/testpage.html
    Indeed the changes I made were in the QuickTime preferences, not PictureViewer which has no settings to change. And yes, Windows 7 has a unique place to deal with file types and MIME settings.
    You will find some interesting suggestions over the problem at SuperUser.

  • Change save to jpg to tiff

    I found a script that allows to crop and straighten scanned photos. However, there are 2 changes I want to make:
    (1) Instead of being saved as jpegs, I want to resulting files to be saved as tiff
    (2) Right now, it only looks at one level in a folder. I want it to dig into all subfolders as well. Is that possible?
    #target Photoshop
    app.bringToFront;
    var inFolder = Folder.selectDialog("Please select folder to process");
    if(inFolder != null){
    var fileList = inFolder.getFiles(/\.(jpg|jpeg|png|tif|tiff|psd|)$/i);
    var outfolder = new Folder(decodeURI(inFolder) + "/Edited");
    if (outfolder.exists == false) outfolder.create();
    for(var a = 0 ;a < fileList.length; a++){
    if(fileList[a] instanceof File){
    var doc= open(fileList[a]);
    doc.flatten();
    var docname = fileList[a].name.slice(0,-4);
    CropStraighten();
    doc.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    var count = 1;
    while(app.documents.length){
    var saveFile = new File(decodeURI(outfolder) + "/" + docname +"#"+ zeroPad(count,3) + ".jpg");

  • Error in using DBMS_LOB Package

    Hi,

    end;
    FILE_LOAD is a folder on the database server(unix).
    I have also tried to give the full path on the unix databse server instead of FILE_LOAD directory but then it gives error ora-22285.
    while executing this procedure I am getting the error ora-22288(Invalid file or directory).
    But this occurs randomly
    For instance i tried to attach a pdf file with the name cross.pdf ,it gave me the above error and when i renamed the file as Cross.pdf it attached successfully.
    The error comes whilke executing the statement dbms_lob.fileopen(f_lob,dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    Please guide on the above issue.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!

    FILE_LOAD is a folder on the database server(unix).
    I have also tried to give the full path on the unix databse server instead of FILE_LOAD directory but then it gives error ora-22285.The first argument to BFILENAME is the name of a directory object, as found in the directory_name column of all_directories. That is not the same thing as a folder name, which is found in the directory_path column of all_directories. Look up [CREATE DIRECTORY|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_5007.htm#sthref6211] in the SQL Language manual for a description of Oracle's directory objects.
    If you have problems with this, post the results of
    SELECT  *
    FROM    all_directories;It might also be useful to see the Oracle "CREATE DIRECTORY" command that was used.
    As you probably noticed, this site compresses white space by default.
    When you post code or results on this site, type these 6 characters:
    (small letters only, inside curly brackets) before and after sections of formatted text, to preserve spacing.
