Tif to Jpg-No Jpg option?

I have an edited Tif file I'm trying to save to a jpg file. There is no jpg option in the "save as" dialog box.
Anyone know why?
Jack

Good enough that it's highly likely that the video compression is much more of a driving factor.

    Backward compatibility FROM what TO what?
    CS6 to older, or newer to CS6?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. To resize for other applications just select those you want to resize and use the File->Export->File Export route. There you will have the option to select the size you'd like.
    As for the JPG vs JPEG, have you tried submitting a JPG file? Those two extensions are the same and can be used interchangeably. The JPEG is the more formal representation of that format. If the simple JPG extension is rejected you can use R-Name to batch change the extension to JPEG before you submit them to the site. You'll have to do that after you export from iPhoto.

    How do I keep photoshop from changing extensions from .JPG to .jpg?

    Preferences > File Handling and uncheck "Use Lower Case" (Mac)
    or in the same area in the Windows version, choose "Use Upper Case" from the drop-down menu.

  • Import and extension case - JPG vs jpg

    I just found something quite odd in the way iPhoto 09 imports pictures from an SD card.
    My camera uses upper case, so all the pictures have .JPG as extension, I've just verified the content of the SD card.
    If the images are taken in normal landscape (horizontal) mode, then the files after import keep the .JPG extensions.
    But if the images are taken in portrait (vertical) mode, then the resulting files in the iPhoto library will have their extensions as .jpg, in lower case.
    This is quite odd, and I see no reason for this behaviour from iPhoto. It's not something terribly distressful, but I still believe that it's odd, and it shouldn't happen.

    but also rewrites the file accordingly, which I am OK with.
    iPhoto doesn't "rewrite" the file. it makes a new one.
    then why the new file has an extension of a different case? Could they not simply copy the original filename instead of massaging the case of the extension only? This is what I don't understand.
    There is no bug. If Photo Linker has issues with JPG and jpg then you should consult the maker of that app.
    ah, there you go, I was sure you'd point fingers elsewhere, what a typical tactic.
    Like it or not, this is an iPhoto bug my friend, I don't see why certain files have an uppercase extension and others have a lowercase extensions, since they have been taken in portrait mode. Does this make sense to you? Cause to me it doesn't.

  • Comic project part 1:Need to pop. an array with 100 images(001.jpg-100.jpg)

    Hi guys. I am trying to break down my project logically. In the first part, I need to populate an array with 100 images, named 001.jpg through 100.jpg. Any takers?

    Well, I dont think its quite as complicated as it might seem. I dont want to build a comic reader that lets you download new titles. I want to build a page flipper that lets me flip back and forth between 100 images. Back button, forward button, website button in middle on the bottom.
    My goal is to post the completed code online for artists to use. I will see my comic start to finish to make sure it works. Then I will do another and finish the documentation (which goes from signing up as a developer, signing up the itunes connect banking information, and finishes with submitting the app). I want to provide artists with an easily customizable framework upon they can drop their comic images appropriately named into the project folder, and compile.
    Its a glorified slideshow, only one that requires a button push to advance. This way artists can be artists, not programmers. I had swiping as the interface (I have a 90% functional app, but there are changes that need to be made. Not a lot, but enough that I have to keep asking questions) until I realized that the comic can be read one handed, so I am moving to buttons! Doh!
    There wont be any updating. Each issue is self contained.
    Another issue with my sample code: it is set up now where I can name the images "image001.jpg" "image002.jpg" etc. This is a little cumbersome. I am hoping the array method will allow for the code to pull the images, and no one will have to trouble shoot 100 image names to find problems. I hope I am not being unclear in my explanation. Thanks for your kind words. My app works as is. But artists will immediately see the shortcomings. If I can fix only one or 2 small issues, it will be good enough for thousands of artists to pick up and use to sell comics. I have the source code for anyone that wants to take a look.

  • Close ALL open files and save jpg with jpg option

    Hi,
    I have some (a lot) of -jpg images to crop, and resize, while I have to do this one by one based on what portion of the image to crop, once done I need to close, and save them.
    To speed up the process I open several files, and do the crop&resize, and when finished I use "close all", and would like to avoid to confirm the "save" dialogue, and the "jpeg options" "image quality option" dialogue, having to say save, and the option set to a given value.
    Unfortunatelly I am not a coder, and didn't understand anything from the Javascript Scripting Reference guide.
    I found this
    app.docRef.close(SaveOptions.SAVECHANGES);
    here, I pasted it into ExtendScript, saved it, but when opening the script from file > scripts > browse it returns error 21 (undefined is not an object)
    Will you please kindly give me the script?
    Thank you

    Add this snippet to a script file.
    Load script file in PS scripts folder
    Restart photoshop
    Assign keyboard shortcut to script
    #target photoshop
    //Make Photoshop the formost Appplication
    app.bringToFront();
    // Requires at least one open document
    while (app.documents.length > 0)
         //Save all open windows
        {activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.SAVECHANGES);}

  • Multi-page .tif file attaches as  .jpg (1 page)

    I've just changed from Entourage to Mail. I have multipage .tif files downloaded from Companies House. When I try to mail them as attachments Mail changes them to .jpg files which only have the first page of course. I can see that on the open email so it is not a Mac to Windows recipient problem.
    When I resave as .pdf there is problem but that's unsatisfactory. Other files eg Word and Excel seem fine.
    The solutions I've seen here seem to be the for the reverse problem.

    Save aas tif file.

  • Want to convert  tif image file into jpg image file , pls help me

    hey coders, i want to convert a tif image file into a jpg image file , can u all help in this

    In it's simplest form, it's two lines of code.
    BufferedImage bi = ImageIO.read(/*the tif file*/);
    ImageIO.write(bi,"jpeg",/*output file*/);Though, you need to install [JAI-ImageIO|https://jai-imageio.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html] read the tif file into a BufferedImage.

    The fact that it worked, but it doesn't anymore means something has happened to interrupt this procedure.Remember if there was an update or something done that will explain it. As for the workaround I always saved as .RTF to avoid such troubles and it hasn't (yet) failed me.

  • Creating PDF in Outlook 2010 w/ JPG attachment - jpg does not attach

    Using Acrobat X Std. w/ Office 2010 standard.  Have an email message with a jpg file attachment, using the "convert to PDF" add-in, PDF gets created but there is no attachments.  This works will .doc, .xls, .pdf attachments but we are having no luck with .jpg file attachments.  Interestingly, i've had jpg files attach but it seems to be hit and miss.  Most jpg's will not attach.  I've got Acrobat Convert to PDF set to allow all attachments but still cannot get most jpg's to attach.  Anyone have any ideas?

    I found this exact same issue with Acrobat 9 & X and Outlook 2007 & 2010.
    The Workaround:  Drag/Save the message to your desktop and open it there.  Then perform the conversion.
    What I've Noticed:
    It only seems to occur with JPEG.
    It doesn't fail everytime, but if a particular message does fail the only way that has worked is the above workaround.
    Outlook: Changing message download options has no affect.
    Outlook: Changing mailbox caching has no affect.
    Acrobat & Outlook: Full repairs or clean installs don't help.
    Now the most odd piece to the puzzle... this only began AFTER we transitioned from in house Exchange to Microsoft BPOS.

  • Stupid attachment names: photo.jpg, image.jpg

    If I email pictures from my iPhone, it stupidly names renames the attachments photo.jpg or image.jpg depending on how I do the attachment. I could not find a setting to keep the original name.
    Thanks in advance
    PS Just curious, does anybody share my view? I think that iOS becomes more and more anti-Mac (that is, as stupid as it gets). It is very frustrating. In this particular case, why rename the attachment? It doesn't make any sense. (I keep buying iPhones out of inertia - thanks to the Macs)

    Hi Gaurav,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have already done the changes given in those notes(SICF settings).
    I am able to get file type information for all other file types for images like bmp,tif, and gif.
    Not getting for only jpg file type.
    Any other inputs welcome.
    Regards

  • Importing Folder w/ RAW & JPG, no JPGs load

    I download my CF card to a folder I create on my HD. With my present camera setting, I get a RAW capture and a JPG capture.
    When I import this folder into Aperture, the JPGs show up in the Import>Local Files, but won't import into a Project folder. Why is this?
    I have not had this problem with all folders, but with almost all.
    Also, I have one folder with layered PSD files. The PSD files appear as blank thumbnails, both in the Import>Local Files window as well as the Project folder. In the middle of this blank thumbnail is tiny tiny text in four languages that says: "This layered Photshop file was not saved with a composite image". These layered PSD files are identical (as far as I can tell) with other layered PSD files that have been imported into other Projects with no problem. I have tried following the "...Layered PSD..." thread in the Support page, but to no avail. Need help with this.
    Thanks

    Hi twims,
    As BNO said, the JPEG files are recognized by Aperture when they are in the same folder as their associated RAW upon import. However, you only see one version of the image. The actual RAW Master and the associated JPEG Master kind of sit behind this version. As BNO also said, you can use the menu option Images>New Version from Master JPEG to view and adjust the JPEG, just like you can use Images>New Version from Master (which creates a new version from the RAW in this case). The options are also available by right clicking on an image version also, or by using shortcut keys.
    I also shoot RAW+JPEG quite often because I have wanted a way to have JPEGs available quickly. This may change now that I have Aperture...time will tell. But I have to say, I prefer Aperture's handling of the RAW+JPEG files in this way. I don't like the way Bridge handles them, by showing both the RAW and the JPEG. This makes it more difficult to see what I have. I might shoot hundreds of shots in a day, so I don't want to see that multiplied by two. PhotoMechanic combines RAW+JPEG as one viewed image and I have always liked that. However, PhotoMechanic makes it a Preference setting, which might be a good future enhancement for Aperture.
    Oh, I have also noticed that if you change metadata in another program (such as PhotoMechanic) that the RAW and JPEG may import into Aperture separately. I think that the file timestamp gets changed and this makes Aperture think they are different shots. I have fixed this by using PhotoMechanic's Tools>Adjust Capture Dates and Times menu option. Once I run the files through this tool with the "Update file creation date/time" and the "Update file modification date/time" options checked, the files will import into Aperture joined.
    Regarding your Photoshop files, one thing you might try is to check your Photoshop Preference settings under File Handling. Set "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" to "Always." Also, search this forum and you will find that some people have had problems with Photoshop files saved in Lab Color Mode instead of RGB Color Mode. I think I've also seen people having problems with certain types of saved paths or channels, I don't quite remember the exact issue.
    Hope that helps,

  • System or Safari renaming .jpg to .jpg.pdf and pictureviewer fails

    Hello all.
    When using webmail (on Safari 2) I ran into this:
    File attachments using .jpg extension is being downloaded and renamed to .jpg.pdf when clicked on. The file gets downloaded to desktop and when pictureviewer trys to open it it fails, as the file is not pdf.
    Any suggestions?
    Yours Sincerely
    Martin

    Hello andyball_uk
    Thankyou for your advise. I do agree that the problem on the server end and when trying to ctrl-alt click on the link I get a Download.php file. THe webmails Costumer service basically told me to f* o** since they didnt and wouldnt support OSX.
    But i found another workaround:
    Since my OS is the danish version some translations might be wrong, pls correct if so.
    Created Download folder on desktop, set Safari to use that as a download folder. Unchecked "Open safe files..:" too. the file now saves in that folder.
    Created an Automater workflow who is to rename finder items from .jpg.pdf to .jpg. AND then open finder item.
    Saved as accessory to foldercommands, applied the folder and voila.
    Its works.
    Thx for the reply, I consider this solved.

  • Is there a way to edit plist export lowercase jpg, not JPG?

    Is there a way to edit iPhoto's plist in order to export lowercase jpg, not uppercase JPG?
    Or is there some other way to accomplish the same thing?

    No. Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
    Create an Automator folder Action that would change the case of the extension on any file dropped into it. Then export only to that folder. You would use the "Rename Finder Items" action.
