TIF to PDF coversion

Hi
We have a scenario where there are archived TIF,Txt , OTF files in the archive repository. Now we want to switch to PDF viewer as the common viewer when data is retrieved and displayed.
These documents need to be converted on demand.
For OTF , there are functions available using which it can be converted to PDF.
But for TIF & txt files is there an SAP solution available which can do this conversion on demand during display.
Regards
Rani

Thanks Eddy,
I did go through the documentation . does it mean that external converter is required in all cases.
Is anyone aware of any sap certified External converters.
Also the functions mentioned seem to handle Microsoft document only.. is TIF to PDF also done the same way
Does anyone have implemenation experience on XDC...any inputs would be highly appreciated , since this area is like a blackbox for me.

Rani

  • Windows picture viewer fails Acrobat TIF to PDF conversion

Hi. I have some users running Acrobat Pro 9 in batch mode to convert TIF to PDF and run OCRing tasks.  Some multi-page TIFs with large color pictures do not convert correctly, and some pieces are missing.  We think that Acrobat uses the default picture viewer as the imaging enging or whatever.  We have tried opening the images that fail to convert, using the Windows picture viewer, and the viewer fails to display all of the color image - so this does not appear to be an Acrobat problem, but a viewer problem.
Is this a known problem; is there a workaround?  Otherwise can someone recommend an alternate image/TIF viewer that will work better for this process?
    THANKS!

Have you tried changing the program that opens tif files by default to something else (like Photoshop or Paint) and rebooting?

  • Convert TIF to PDF

    Hi all,
I have some TIF documents stored in DMS. When I use SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT I can have the binary content.
With this content I need to convert to PDF and store in another repository.
Anyone knows how to convert this?
I believe the function module CONVERT_OTF will help me, but I can't populate the OTF table.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hai to All,

TIFF hiliting is not a standard feature of that format and involves the use of private extensions.  You would need to find a product that supported reading TIFF files with those extensions - Adobe Acrobat and our SDK does not.

  • Lossless TIF to PDF conversion

    Hello,
I want to convert many (multipage) 24bit color JPEG-compressed TIF files (from scanner) to a PDF format, lossless, in order "to gain the Acrobat functions on the TIF".
I thought it was possible to have the PDF as plain "TIF container", but didnt manage that so far without to change the image structure.
Is this achievable? My attempts failed and yelded sometimes much(!) bigger PDF counterparts of the original TIF file. It must be a lossless conversion.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dani

No, PDF cannot be a TIFF container. PDF can contain JPEG compressed data (which happens to be almost exactly the same as JPEG files) but this is the only image format that can be used directly.
It is theoretically possible to convert JPEG-coded TIFF to JPEG-coded PDF without a second loss (since of course creating the JPEG format TIFF was lossy in the first place), by preserving the separate JPEG strips in the TIFF. It is doubtful whether you will find support for this, given that JPEG-coded TIFF is a bit of a minority format in the first place, and given that TIFF is likely to store the image in stripes which need to individually become entirely separate images in PDF. More likely, every conversion tool you might find is going to extract, decompress and then recompress according to defaults or options. Given that you maybe should focus on the recompression options.

  • Keep getting error when I try to convert tif to pdf

  • SAP pdf coversion fails to preserve hyperlink (SCOT)

    Hi
I create an email in raw text format. The URL is quite long and spans 2 lines.
When Sap Connect (SCOT) is configured to output emails in txt format, the emails are
generated fine, and the URL can be clicked on.
However, when the SCOT email option is configured to output PDF format,
an automatic line break is inserted in the URL. So when you click on the URL hyper link only the first part (first
line) is copied in to the browser, the rest is ignored.  So we must cut and paste the rest manually.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    Kind regards

You may be able to find more information by putting an infinite loop at the beginning of your user exit:
    x = ' '.
    while x = ' '.
    x = ' '.
    endwhile.
and then go into debugging via SM50 and set the x variable to break out of the loop.
This technique is useful debugging workflows and other code which you cannot get to directly by placing a break-point.

  • PDF Coversion stopped working

I am getting this error:  Trouble occurred when signing in - however my name is in the corner as signed in, my only choice is to SIGN OUT.

    Hi KelleyW,
If you're logging in via Adobe Reader, please sign out, and then choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version of Adobe Reader. And, if you're trying to log in via the website, clear the browser cache and try again.
I checked your account, and everything looks good there...

  • Converting .pdf to .tif

I deal with constuction documents. Our plans can be as big as
36 x 48. Ive been converting .tif to .pdf and .pdf to .tif for
years. I recently upgraded to the CS4 package (Acrobat Pro 9). Now,
when I try to convert .pdf drawings to .tif I get an error, "The
image is too wide to output, Please crop it or reduce resolution
and try again. Document: 04 C1.1 Cover Sheet.pdf Command: Saving
    Page: 1".
I cannot adjust the dimension of the drawing due to scaling
issues. The plans must remain at the same scale due to the drawings
being architectural drawings & engineering drawings.
    Any ideas?

Thank you for posting! As long as the tiff that you're
exporting doesn't exceed 4GB, it should be able to export just
    fine. That is odd!
You may like to know that this question would best be asked

  • Differences between PDF and TIF

Printing a file to TIF or pdf as a bitmap image format gives me WYSIWYG
However, when I print the same file in pdf format, part of the data on the right side of the page is missing although the print preview looks good.
As far as I know, in the first case, the printer is dealing with raster data whereas in the second case, the printer is dealing with vector data.
I would like to know more about the differences between raster and vector printing and I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this.
    Thanks in advance!

This has nothing to do with the pdf specification, but a function of the
software running, the OS, and the printer driver. If part of the data is
missing the problem probably lies with the application software or the
printer driver. If you are using Acrobat to create the pdf, please
repost in that forum, that is where you will get the most help.

  • How do I combine PDFs into one document?

I want to scan CD booklets for online digital storage. I have Pages and Preview, of course. I do not have Acrobat Professional.
I have a large scanner and can make individual TIFs or PDFs of each spread. What would be the best way to combine these into one file?

    etresoft,
Please don't read this as an actual reply to your post because it is not.
But, since the thread is dealing with CUPS-PDF and I have been desperately seeking CUPS-PDF for a long time ever since I've got my brand new iMac only 5 days ago (5 days on a new iMac [which is not only new but is intel-based, and which I was forced to buy because my older PPC iMac G5 died of preternatural or some other causes] is an extremely long time on account of Snow Leopard, about which I am like a babe trying to start speaking for the first time) I found it more expedient to "reply" in order to get some help with CUPS-PDF from someone who knows.
I've downloaded CUPS-PDF from "https://bitbucket.org/codepoet/cups-pdf-for-mac-os-x/wiki/Home" and installed it following the instructions included therein.
The only instruction I could not follow is to pick "Generic postscript color printer"; I could pick  "Generic postscript printer" though.
CUPS-PDF shows in the printer list.
CUPS-PDF apparently prints as indicated by the progress bar.
But, the print doesn't show anywhere on my computer:
The output is not in /Users/Shared/CUPS-PDF in a folder with my user account's name.
I did make an alias to this folder on my desktop but it only contains two folders: "my user name" and "SPOOL"
The first folder had a "clone" of the download source page (which I deleted.)
    SPOOL has nothing in it.
I've never had a problem using CUPS-PDF while on OS X 10.4.11, something I'll never be able to revert to.
I'll be eternally grateful to you if you could help me with this issue but, on condition that you use a language as plain as English since my expertise with OS X, which was never as considerable as to be able to use terminal to any advantage, nor understanding terms such as sudos and the like, is now even diminished on account of the new OS I am forced to use from now on.
Thank you so much for your help and excuse me for using this approach to ask for help.
    Best regards,
    Ruben

  • Convert files to PDF in asp

I need a web application (asp page) that can combine four files (tif, xfd, pdf, html) into one pdf file and stream it back to the user. These files are sitting on an IIS 6.0 server. I have Adobe acrobat 8 professional and was able to convert all the files to PDF's using the Adobe PDF silent printing in a visual basic application. However, It does not work when I call this executable from an asp page. I tried putting this code into a DLL to use it in a web page and it did not work. Any ideas on what I need to do to make this work?

It looks like LiveCycle PDF Generator Requires a Java Application Server. Do you know a product that meets this requirement in a Microsoft server/development tools environment such as IIS, Asp, Visual Basic, .NET, C#, etc... (A solution that does not require a Java environment.)

  • Adding keywords to eps, ai, pdf & jpeg

Hi I'm new to bridge and I'm also new to keywords/tagging so I need little help.
I'm trying to tag files with keywords then upload them to a service called fluxiom (which is like an online portfolio). Fluxiom allows you to search your files by keywords. Now I've added keywords to jpgs and tifs with success but when I try other files like pdfs, ai, eps, etc my keywords are not "sticking" - any ideas? I've also tested it locally by searching my files with Spotlight which is giving me the same results - tif, jpg are okay but not the others.
    help please.

I tried restarting with the option key and reset everything but I'm still not having success. I've attached a pdf that shows the results I'm getting. The tif and the jpeg worked fine, the pdf half worked and the ai and eps (which I saved a variety of ways using different previews) didn't work on any of them.
As I mentioned I'm running CS3 on all these apps in Leopard 10.5.5.
Another related question to help me get a better understanding of Bridge and tagging shouldn't I be able to search on my mac either using the finder (command + F) or spotlight for these embedded keywords? Isn't tagging the files to have the ability to search for them either on the web or on my computer the main reason for tagging. I ask because after I added these keywords/descriptions and searched for the files the only three I found where the tif, jpg & pdf - again confirming the issue I'm having.
sorry if I'm asking a dumb question.

  • Problems converting images to PDF or PDF A1B (OS is already english)

    Hello,
I'm trying to convert images with the PDF Generator Elements. I installed it on Windows Server 2003 ENU with Office 2003 (English version) and Photoshop CS2 Tryout (English version).
I tried to convert .jpg, .gif, .bmp and .tif into PDF or PDF/A with always the same result: 'conversion timed out'. I searched the forums, however all I found was that point with the English OS. I already changed that, but it is still not working (however the .doc and .xls conversion is working now). Any hints to configurations, places to start to search for errors (there is nothing useful in the jboss logs) etc. would be really appreciated.
I also tried it via watched folders, with the same result.
    Regards, Karin

    Hello,
The only thing I can suggest right now is check the settings in your watch folder and double check that the following are set to '*', meaning any file type
'Specify the file extensions of file types accepted for this folder, separated by commas. *Allowed extensions:'
Also check the following that you purchased the right software:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/server/pdfgenerator/pdfs/ds_pdfgenerator.pdf
For example, the proffessional version of PDF Generator can be used to convert any form of file, from image to office documents such as word and excel.
Notice that Postscript can only be used to convert ps and prm files. Hopefully, this will help
