Tiff image is being magnified when drug to timeline

I am trying to get the "Ken Burns" effect on a still. I have cropped the image in iphoto as a 16:9. Saved it as tiff in preview. Imported to the bin of project. drug to viewer. keyframed anchor points. keyframed scale from 167 to 145 to pull out and have the face come into view. Added sepia effect. Looks perfect in viewer. Drag to canvas into "insert" box. When it goes to timeline the proportion is off. It has zoomed in more and wire frame is huge. I deleted the picture from timeline and pull down directly to timeline from viewer. Same thing. Started over from bin. Now the one in the viewer is magnified. Drag to timeline and it magnifies again?!?! At this point I can begin to see the finer textures of the skin on my subject's nose. What is going on? I tried another still image and I can't make it happen again.

You must first drag the image to the timeline, then open the new clip in the timeline (for example by Double-clicking), and only then all controls in the viewer such as Scale, etc. will be applied to the final clip. The viewer is just a "window" on media that comes from somewhere else: if you open a clip in the browser you affect the browser clip, if you open a clip in the timeline you affect the timeline clip.
And whenever you drag a clip (from the browser or the viewer) to the timeline the codec associated with the timeline (DV for standard video - AIC for HDV) is applied to the clip. This is quite evident on still images that are scaled to fit. But you can always change their scale, and any other parameter, by opening the clip from the timeline to the viewer, as above.

  • How can I lookup the Tiff Image Compression being used on my file?

    I'm trying to figure out where this is stored in the file structure, I've tried a few different options, but I'm stuck. I dumped all the attributes of the file to console, but it's not there.
    Latest I tried this:
    app.activeDocument.TiffSaveOptions)
    I could simply open up each file and do a Save As Which would show me all the settings, but it's more time consuming than writing this to text.
    Also, does anyone have a recommendation for an Object Model Viewer? Is there one? I'd like to learn more about the files and structures themselves, without having to do hours of experimentation, since it can be difficult to figure out where things are nested.

    var compression = -1; // unknown
    var rex = /\<tiff:Compression\>(.+)\<\/tiff:Compression\>/;
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
      var xmp = String(app.activeDocument.xmpMetadata.rawData);
      var m = xmp.match(rex);
      if (m) {
        compression = Number(m[1]);
    alert(compression);

    There is an OMV for JavaScript that comes built in to ESTK.
    There is one PDF for the PS DOM and another for called the JavaScript Tools Guide.

    There is a Photoshop Files Format PDF, also available on Adobe.com. I've used variants of it since the version that came out for PS6 many years ago.
    But that stuff is not for the faint of heart.

  • How can I keep my images from being deleted when using Image capture. Even when I do not check the box they still get deleted.

    This happened after I updated my operating system.

    Whats with the MBP lid? Dont close it ... if you're so concerned! Just go to System Preferences/Energy Saver and set it to how you like it.

  • Clips are out of order when drug to Timeline

    I was working with final cut pro, showing a friend how to use it and ran into a problem that has never happened when I've used it on my machine. We did log and capture, and captured the video. then I went Mark-> DV Start/Stop Detect. From there I selected the first segment and the last segment and drug them to the timeline. once in the time line they were all out of order. Usually they are placed in the time line 1 through 80 or however many there are, one after another. There is nothing else in the time line. When I drug them this time they would be arranged in all different orders. Anyone have any idea whats going on with this?
    Thanks in advance.

    It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
    You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

  • Runtime Images are being loaded only when i move Mouse Over them

    Hi ,
    I am displaying Images on to a Datagrid at Runtime .
    The isssue is that Images are being loaded when i move mouse over the rows of DataGrid
    Please tell me , how to resolve this issue ??
    Thanks .

    If you know the size of the images, have the renderer return measuredWidth
    and measuredHeight that reflects the size of the image (or approximate
    size).  There should be past discussions on this topic.

  • How do I Convert a  Tiff image to a jpeg without being FORCED to 8-bit Color?

    I am an Artist.  I have High quality TIFF images.  When I convert the tiffs to jpeg it forces me into 8-bit color automatically. (Forget about 32bit - it will not allow me to jpeg that at all)   The only way I can get back to 16bit color is to use the already SMAshed file and bring it up to 16bit.  THIS makes NO sense.  Once the jpeg is smashed, HOw in the world is it supposed to convert up again. ??  Then even though it says you converted the file to 16 -bit , the metadata refers still to the file as 8-bit.
    On top of all of that confusion, One picture, for example, when supposedly converted to 16bit,  gets much BRighter then even the original Tiff image.  It looks good on one hand and over exposed on the other.  I assume that is photoshop throwing in fake resolution, am I right?
    Am I wasting my time with this imaginary 16bit conversion?
    Is there ANY way to take that original Tiff image and convert it to 16bit jpeg without the Default 8bit?  I have been trying all kinds of things.  I even have asked my web guy.  My web guy says that 8-bit is unexceptable for printing, even for web.
    Could this have anything to do with my computer and scanner?
    I have the iMAC OS X 10.8.3 (3.2 GHz) 8 GB memory.
    And I also have an Epson Expression 10000XL graphic arts scanner capable of scanniing at 48bit color.
    This color stuff Really matters!  It MATTERS!  I HAve FINE art files.  I am already losing so much quality with the jpeg conversion. (which I am required to do for SmugMug, in addition to compressing all my files to 50mb or Under)
    Anyone who knows anything that could help me would be much appreciated.
    Aloha,
    -Melissa

    First of all jpeg is 8 bit only there is no way to save as a 16 or 32 bit jpg, just does not exist. Secondly people print in 8 bit all the time and most if not all web graphics are in 8 bit as that is the only way to view it as there is no 16 bit or 32 bit monitors to view it. All but a few pro monitors are 8 bit monitors.
    If you care about the color gamut and want the full range of color that 16 and 32 bit provide, then why jpg? Jpg by its own nature throws out color just to compress, thats why it is popular on the web, because of its small file size not its quality. If you need 16 or 32 bit for anything it must be in a format that supports that color depth.
    That being said a jpg image at 8 bit will display 16+ million colors,  256 shades of red, 256 shades of green and 256 shades of blue.
    Now here is where I think your bit information is off. a jpg image is a 24 bit image that will produce 8 bits of red, 8 bits of green and 8 bits of blue.
    The 8, 16 and 32 are per channel not total color information.
    If the overall image was 8 bits, the image would be gayscale.

    How can I change (or select) what is being being used when I share, as the file cover. When I Share lets say "Master File" i want to select a frame that is used as the file cover. So when its on my desktop I see this image as the file icon.

    I don't think Finder does this (I've tried).
    iTunes does though. Where you can set artwork or the "poster frame"...
    This may not be what you want but if it helps, I know 2 ways  do this is
    Open the video in QuicktimePlayer7 | View | Set Poster Frame (even then, you might need to save it as .mov (ie in a 'mov container').
    Drag the file into iTunes and set the artwork (as in http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/adding-album-cover-art-or-images-in-itunes .html)
    From there, iTunes will use that frame as the "poster frame" ie the photo/frame that shows when you browse your videos. Which is what you want, but limited to iTunes.
    When I do either of these above, the frame I set does not show when exploring files in "Finder" (or in the other Explorer tool I use called "Pathfinder").
    So it maybe, that exactly what you want, is not possible.

  • Color Changed when reading a Tiff Image

    I have created a ImageIcon of a tiff image by using the following code. but when reading some images the color is Mis-Matching
    BufferedImage bufImage = ImageIO.read( <tiff file path> );
    JLabel jLabel= new JLabel(new ImageIcon(bufImage));whats the reason for this?.. anybody send me the code snippet to read the tiff image in its original color.. please..

    Thanks for the reply.
    When I render a tiff format image, I have a choice to either render with a alpha or not. I pick with alpha.
    In CS2 Photoshop when I would open that tiff file, my image would come up and I would be able to see the whole image I rendered. The alpha would be in the channel tab where I would make active and apply to my image if I wanted to.
    Now in CS5 when I open that same tiff file my image opens up with the alpha applied already. What I mean by applied is my background is gone or transparent. I have no other layer to turn on. Just my image with no background. Also in the channel tab I have no alpha I would have to create one from the original image.
    I hope this explains my issue better, if not let me know I'll have to do some screen shot for you.

  • Color Handling when saving Word document as PDF, containing CMYK TIFF image?

    What is the proper procedure for creating PDFs from Word documents that contain a CMYK TIFF image? I have created a company logo by exporting an AI file with Pantone colors as a TIFF (with a CMYK color profile, since there is the intention of printing). Since it is a logo, color consistency is important and the utmost priority. I will be needing to insert this file into a Word document that will then be converted into a PDF.
    I've read somewhere that Word automatically converts images to RGB, and also have come across potential problems of colors being changed in the final PDF through unmanaged color handling and conversions. I figured instead of running around in circles trying to find the best solution, I'd post on here. Is this procedure possible? What is the best way to do this without changing my original color profile or CMYK values of the logo being used?
    This PDF has the intention of being placed online for offices to print/publish.
    Thanks!

    Though actually, let's take a step back -- why do you want to use CMYK? Most offices won't be using PostScript printers, so the CMYK will be converted to RGB for printing. For publishing - do you know the required CMYK profile to use for all possible publishing scenarios? Properly tagged RGB is generally considered the way to deal with this in modern workflows not targeted at a specific press. But still probably not with Word!

  • TIFF images are shown as blank when embedded in some web pages

    After I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I see blank the TIFF images displayed in some web sites, like for example any patent image in the www.uspto.gov web site.
    This happens on both Safari and Firefox. They both use the QuickTime plugin (I have version 7.6.3).
    However, if I drag and drop the TIFF image and save it in the local hard drive, local applications like Preview display the page correctly.
    It seems to be an issue with QuickTime and possibly the MacBook model (I have a first generation MacBook Air, with the GMA X3100 Intel graphic card).
    Has anybody experienced this bug?

    Any patent image in the www.upsto.gov web site. For example, this link goes to the first page of the U.S. Patent 161,739 Improvement in Transmitters and Receivers for Electric Telegraphs by A.G. Bell:

  • InDesign crashing when importing tiff images

    I have upgraded to InDesign CC 2014. I have trouble importing some tiff images. InDesign crashes. Not all tiff images create problems. It depends on which version of Photoshop, they are saved in. If I open the image in Photoshop and saves again, there are not any problems. Our database is very large and contains several folders, so it is a big task to archive all images again, even if I create an action in Photoshop. I have searched, but I can not find any settings in InDesign that helps. Does anybody else has encountered this problem and found a solution?

    ASk in the Id forum and provide exact system info, versions of PS, details about your files and so on. There is an issue with legacy color profiles in some cases, but beyond that I'm not aware of other problems that may be relevant here.

  • Images downsized and converted when exporting to PDF

    I have Pagemaker 7.0.1 installed on Virtual XP so that I can help out a family member.
    Pagemaker's embedded Acrobat 4 was not working properly so I installed my Acrobat 9.0 on Virtual XP. This unfortunately has not solved the problem, which is:
    My images are greyscale and 300 ppi when imported into Pagemaker. When exported to PDF using Acrobat 9.0, the images are being converted to CMYK and exported at about 50% of the actual size. Interestingly, those images that are only at 200 ppi are converted but not downsampled.
    This is happening no matter how I fiddle with the settings. Happens to both jpegs and tiffs.
    I found an old thread on another forum where this problem occurred but a solution was not found or posted.
    Any ideas?
    Michelle

    This reply is a series of comments and suggestions rather than a definitive answer.
    1. Your set up is less than perfect, if not unstable, and will be prone to all sorts of bizarre behaviours.
    2. Never copy/paste a graphic or table into PageMaker.  Always use the Place command. The only "exception" would be that you can copy and paste a properly Placed graphic from within your PageMaker document.
    When placing images in a PageMaker file, the following message appears: “The graphic in the linked file would occupy xxxxxxx bytes in the publication. Include the complete copy in the publication anyway?” The correct answer to this question is always "NO".
    (You can permanently avoid this popup in future docs by unchecking "store copy in publication" under Element -> Link Options with no publication open. You can do the same to avoid further prompts in pre-existing documents.)
    3. Try updating PM to Ver 7.0.1a which had a better Export… AdobePDF…macro. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=34&platform=Windows
    4. In PageMaker’s Print dialogue, click on the Options button, and check "Write PostScript to File." Select the "Normal" radio button. Set both Type 1 and TrueType fonts to download. As always, set the Send TIF/Images option to Normal and NOT Optimized. Make other settings elsewhere in the print dialog as desired, such as "paper" size, crop marks, separations, etc.
    5. With your non-standard setup, try the two stage print then distill process. Create a PS file using a postscript printer file, then load Distiller and convert the PS file to PDF.  Note: if you have hyperlinks in your PMD file, they will not appear in your PDF and need to be re-created using Acrobat.
    6. It's time to leave PM and move on to InDesign - see it as PM Ver 13.
    7. Aternatively, use PM7 on a contemporary Win2K PC.  http://bigjohnd.org.uk/PageMakerExportPDF/index.htm

  • .Tiff image issues

    When I try to insert .tiff images (like iChat smilies) I have to move them way over for them to actually come up where I want them to when the site is viewed through a web browser. If I don't move them they show up no where I want them to. I have attached an image to show you what I mean.
    I want the smilie to show up in the "hole" and where it is positioned now makes it show up there.

    Hi,
    I am new to MSDN and require some help on dealing with TIFF images.
    How do i extract the values from TIFF images, edit their values, and resave them as TIFF images?
    I saw the MSDN information on "How to: Encode and Decode a TIFF image".
    But still have the following issues.
    1)Image^ myImage = gcnew Image(); --> error: Image is ambiguous. I am apparently missing some includes or namespace, but i can find the System::Windows::Image namespace.
    2)How do i extract the grayscale values from the TIFF images? What variables are they being stored in?
    Thanks!

  • Difficulty Importing a Properly Sized TIFF image (I think)

    Hello,
    I am having difficulty importing an appropriately sized TIFF image that is a screen shot from my film.  It seems to be a resizing issue of some sort.
    The TIFF image is a straight frame grab from my film, which is sized 1920 x 1080.
    here is the issue:
    The screen shot from the film has the reclining face buddha image overlay upon "the walk in the forest" perfectly centered in the frame of the film, but when I import that screen shot from the film, the mouth of the Buddha and chin is cut off on the left hand side.
    Any thoughts?
    Is this because I am making this into a smaller DVD frame in Standard Definition?
    Will it do this cutting off of the image for my entire film as well?
    Matt

    Hey Matt.  If you are using this tiff in a menu in your SD project, there is going to be some issues going from an HD size of 1920x1080 down to 720x480.  Is your project 4:3 aspect ratio or 16:9?  Generally you want your menus to match what the video elements are.
    If your encoded video elements are 4:3 (hard) letterboxed, then the menu should be 4:3 as well, although it could be 4:3 full frame.  No sense having black bars on your menu pages.  If this is the case, that 16:9 tiff image will be edge-cropped.
    Likely since your video was shot in HD, you want to have a widescreen dvd.  The source video will have to be encoded as 16:9 SD.  I usually make all my elements before bringing them into Encore.  For any menus, I start in Photoshop using the appropriate "Film and Video" preset.  Probably the 720x480 widescreen preset (1.21 pixel aspect ratio) will work for your project if it is indeed a 16:9 disc you want to make.  Being a 16:9 frame size, the tiff file will scale down almost perfectly into a 720x480 widescreen frame.
    I would suggest making a new file in Photoshop using the appropriate film and video preset.  Then open your tiff file in Photoshop and drag it into that one.  Scale it down and save.  That way when you bring it into Encore, the scaling has been done and you know what it is going to look like.
    Note that when you are working with files in Photoshop that are not square pixels, they will appear jaggy or squeezed depending on if you have pixel-aspect correction turned On or Off in the View menu.  The files are fine and will look good on a disc.  Also, I almost always change the viewer in Encore to 100% or some other whole number rather than "Fit".  Fit just seems to make things look terrible, especially text and the outer frame edges.  There is also the option to toggle pixel aspect correction On or Off in that viewer as well.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • Cann't show large tiff image?

    I am using form6i to show a tiff image from database table's column(BLOB). when i execute query_execute from form6i,i can only show the image that size is small(FE:50kb),and cann't show the image that size is more than 100kb. what shall i do?

    It does seem a bit silly to retain the icon that implies a full sized viewing though.
    iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
    If a change is an improvement, I'm all for it. If it is an arbitrary and unnecessary change, it can just be irritating. Like changing the reload button in Safari from the upper left to a variable position somewhere in the upper middle part of the window, a change that improved nothing and probably was a bad idea; changing a constantly located icon to one that roams around depending on the window width.
    Absolutely. Not sure what that has to do with iPhoto, though.
    I can cope with changes that make things more efficient or improve quality.
    Good to know.
    I don't quite understand the defense of mindless changes that merely require the user to dig around and waste time figuring out what happened to seemingly missing standard features.
    But who’s defending anything?
    I don't think that the sheep who copes by blithely accepting being herded onto the slaughterhouse truck is necessarily exercising any signs of higher intelligence.
    True. But what do you make of the one who goes ranting off about things based on incorrect information?
    This change in the software is inconvenient and makes the program worse.
    By way of explanation and not at all to defend: It’s a subtle thing, I know. But it does add a level of coherence to the OS. Quicklook in the Finder, for instance, does a similar thing with the same keystroke. Itunes starts playing a track on the same keystroke. So, I’m not sure where the failed analysis is.
