Tiff not reimported in the develop module

Hi,
I convert all my raw files to DNG files when I import my files in Lightroom. when I exported it as a TIFF to Photoshop CS5 and reimport it in Lightroom 3 the file is in the Library but not in the Develop module. I have to shutdown Lightroom and reopen it to see the TIFF file in the Develop Module. It's getting old.
The problem appeared when I updated to version 3.
Adobe support was nice but said they could not reproduce the problem thus no problem. The problem does exist under Windows 7 64bit or Apple systems.
Any suggestions or solutions?
Thanks,

I can't reproduce the problem either. Using LR 3.6 and CS5 on Win XP SP3.

  • LR5 - Selected image does not display in the Develop Module

I recently upgraded to LR5 from LR4.1.   I have seen on several occasions where the selected image in the Develop Module does not appear.  I can move back to the LIbrary view and the image appears, but when I switch back to the Develop Module, the image disappears and only a black box appears (dark grey really).   This seems to happen after I have deleted flagged files using the ALT-Backspace shortcut.    This has happeded when  I deleted while in the Library and Develop Module, but does not happen every time.   I have disabled the "Show photo on Mouse Over" view option.  Prior to that, the preview window shows the selected or moused over photo.
The only thing I can do to get the develop module to work again is to restart Lightroom.  I've seen no other posts regarding this issue and it is very annoying when trying to go through 4000 photos!   I can find no place to report bugs, so I am posting this here.

i found LR5 the most bug infested LR version ever.
i "use" it only as test setup.
real work i still do with LR 4.4.

How does this issue get reported to Adobe as a bug or is the fact that it is in the forum take care of that?
nope.. in this forum you will only hear that this is not such a big issue and will be fixed soon.
honestly im waiting for some bugs to be fixed since v3.6..... and i gave up on reporting new bugs to adobe.
i just hope that some day they will be fixed.
there is a text layer bug in photoshop i reported back in 2011 and that´s still in photoshop CC.....

How do I read inches instead of pixels, in the develop module. I am not discussing resolution. When I crop, I need to see the numbers in inches, not pixels.
I am not exporting to anything. From the develop module I go on to the print module. However I want to see inches, not pixels, in the develop module.
I am not cropping to an aspect ratio. I am cropping to a given size, in inches, just as if I was in PS CS 3.

    >Instead of the image in pixels, why can't I read it in inches? Physical size in pixels is staring at me, why can't inches be there instead?
Because it is not there. The size in inches ONLY becomes real at print or at export time and can and will change depending on what you do there. Before that you are looking at a number of pixels in a computer.
    >I need to set these values in the develop module, just as if I was setting them in PS CS 3.
That does not make any sense. There is no need to set this in develop at all. Lightroom will scale to your final size at export/Print/web/slideshow. Not in develop. There you are working with the RAW data at its native size.

Trying to find it using the "find missing photos" in the library menu does nothing.

After updating from CC to new 2014 updates Lightroom would not go from 'Library' to 'Develop' - develop screen was greyed out showing the message 'Develop module is disabled. Please renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module.' Since my membership is fully up to date. I then uninstalled Lightroom 5 and then installed it again. Now when I try to open Lightroom 5 its LOGO flashes onto the screen and then 'crashes' in an instant. Please fix.

    Hi brooks45,
Please try the steps mentioned in the KB Doc : http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/unable-launch-lightroom-55.html

I'm having trouble with the develop module in LR5.4. Any adjustments are taking effect, but only viewable in the filmstrip, not on the main photo. The navigator will go grey, as does the main area too. This applies to all edits done in develop module. I have posted several times on the forum with no responses to address this, and have seen others with the same issue. I have even gone as far as to do a complete re-install of LR5, with no success. I'm at a loss, and I depend on it for so much editing. Please help.

Reset your preferences file: Resetting (or 'Trashing') the Lightroom Preferences file - Lightroom Forums
Report back if that doesn't work.

After I use the Develop module in LR4 I edit in PS-CS4, now the develop module changes do not show in CS4.

You need to send the file over to CS4 as a PSD (with Lightroom Adjustments checked)
CS4 cannot interpret the newer processing version used by Lightroom 4

  • Changes not displaying properly in the Develop Module

When I make a change in the Develop Module, the changes are not displayed correctly in the main window, and the navigator window turns grey. When I return to the Library Module, the changed image is correctly displayed. Then when I return to the Develop Module, the changes are correctly displayed. I followed the troubleshooting steps and at one point Adobe says the user permissions might not be right. I created a new user, and in the new user profile, LR works as it should. I am using Windows 7. What do I need to change in the old user's 'permissions' to match the new user's 'permissions'? I would prefer to delete the new user, rather than re-create my computing environment all over again.

If you see grey windows in Develop it is almost typically a bad monitor profile in Windows. Unfortunately quite common. You should recalibrate the monitor. If you don't own a calibrator, try going into your monitor's properties pane. Go to the Color management tab and delete any profile associated with the monitor.

  • How do I show the Develop Module settings when I open up an image I've exported from LR 4.4?

Say I have a preset that I use upon import.  I import some raw files using that preset but decide to tweak the settings a bit per each image.  IOW, now they are different than my preset.
I now export from a tweaked raw file a jpeg.  If I later import that jpeg back into LR 4.4 but don't apply any presets upon import (just leave it blank, I don't even check None), when the image is in the Library the "Saved Preset" line over on the upper right says "Custom" so I figure my settings were "embedded" into that jpeg when I exported it.
However, when I then go into the Develop module, all the Develop settings are zeroed out.  Is there any way to have the setting sliders represent what I actually did to the raw before I exported as a jpeg?  I can't just hit the preset I used upon import because, in fact, the current settings have been tweaked.
Along that same line, is there a choice I can select upon import (of an exported jpeg or tiff or whatever) that says "show current Develop settings" or some such instruction that would take care of this during import.  Thanks.

No it’s not possible but you have a record in the history panel for your master (raw file) It will show the date you exported the jpeg etc. If you click on that line it will show all the develop settings to the right e.g. the slider values etc.
You can in fact save them as a snapshot; so if you make further tweaks to your raw file, the settings you used for your jpeg will always be saved.
Most users don’t re-import jpegs because they can export a fresh one at any time. It’s also possible to create a virtual copy from the menu (Photo >> Create Virtual Copy) which can have different settings to your master (original raw file). You can create as many VC’s as you like and they take up no extra space on your hard drive. Because they are virtual they are simply stored in the catalog as metadata.

  • Where can I find the equivalent tools in Photoshop that are in the develop module of Lightroom

    Friends:
Where can I find the equivalent tools in Photoshop that are in the develop module of Lightroom?  For example I would like to use the shadow, clarity, lens correction and such tools but cannot find them in Photoshop.
    Thanks amigos
    Migs

The obvious or not so obvious first. Depending on your knowledge. When you open a tiff, jpg, or camera' raw format they can be opened in Adobe Camera raw first which has identicle controls to lightroom's develop module.
Starting with I beleive CS5 maybe 4, some of the tools made their way into photoshop it self. Take a look at the camera lens filter, the Image>Adjustment menu or the adjustment layers which now support vibrance for example.

  • Sharpening and noise defaults in the Develop Module

    Capture Sharpness
I’m getting my head around sharpening and am of the understanding that there are three distinct phases: Capture Sharpening, Creative Sharpening and Output sharpening
With regards to Capture Sharpening I’ve noticed that when I import a CR2 file into Lightroom 3.6 there is an Adobe pre-set in the Develop Module. Is this a form of Capture Sharpening default?
    Sharpening
    Amount: 25
    Radius: 1.0
    Detail: 25
    Noise Reduction
    Luminance: 0
    Colour: 25
    Detail: 50

In Lr, "capture" sharpening is global sharpening, and "creative" sharpening is local sharpening (or sharpen masking on global basis but tailored to the image), or at least that's one way of looking at it.
in other words, if you're sharpening raw data non-destructively, such that first round of sharpening isn't being baked in, there is no need to separate capture sharpening from creative sharpening, in your mind, or in the software you use.
Put another way, the notion of capture sharpening comes from days when first round of sharpening was baked in, e.g. shooting jpegs, or in raw workflows where first pass yields a baseline tiff, and 2nd pass is artist's choice...
That said, what's needed for artistic sharpening (creative effects) can differ from what's need for baseline sharpening (initial "capture" sharpening, if you will).
Capture sharpening: just make stuff look reasonably sharp, since without it things don't.
Creative sharpening: sky's the limit... - some people consider Clarity to be a form of creative sharpening...
Note: since Lr's sharpening settings can't be varied (there is no way to apply high-radius sharpening in one region, and low-radius sharpening in another), and since its algorithm is aimed primarily at countering inherent and/or subtle/limited unsharpness, some people consider Lr's sharpening to be "capture-only". On the other hand, capture sharpening is, almost by definition, global, so since Lr supports local sharpening, and sharpen masking, those aspects can be considered "creative".
In my opinon, it's best not to get too hung up on semantics/terminology, but in a nutshell, conceptually:
    * Capture sharpening needs to be done so stuff looks reasonably sharp, and is often done across the board, not dependent on image content (this is why most people apply a default amount of sharpening in Lightroom).
    * Creative sharpening is going beyond initial/default sharpening, generally on an image-by-image basis, although not necessarily. Note: it may involve removing all global "capture" sharpening in favor of no sharpening, or local sharpening only (raw data required).
    * Output sharpening depends on resolution and medium etc, and therefore needs to be done last - tailored to output device and such..
Sorry if this post had too high of an answer to question ratio .

  • I purchased standalone LR5 in December 2014 and installed on home computer.  I have a mobile home with a 2nd laptop and installed       on this one also.  However, I now get a message saying that the Develop module is disabled and I need to renew membersh

Can anyone help me understand why the Develop module on my 2nd laptop is disabled and asking me to renew membership to reactive.  I have a standalone LR5 which I purchased in December 2014 on the Windows platform.  My 2nd laptop is in a different location to my home laptop and is in my holiday home where I would like to work on my photos when I am away from home.

thanks for replying.  I purchased online from Adobe and they sent a confirmation email with order number and serial no along with the instructions for downloading. There was no indication at purchase that renewing membership was needed at any time and it's only 3 months since purchase. I have just returned home from my holiday home and checked my home laptop (primary and first installation) and all modules still enabled !!  As far as I understand I am able to install twice as long as not operating both at once. This would be impossible as holiday home with laptop no 2 is 60 miles away. When I installed on no 2, i opened the order email and was able to use the serial no again. Now however it is greyed out. I don't want the cloud version and hope this is not what I have.
UPDATE 1 April 2015-   I have checked the system info in Lightroom on my first laptop installation (home) and it is definitely a perpetual licence.  I downloaded what I thought was my 2nd allowed download on my holiday home laptop using the original email instructions and serial number.  I checked the system info on this download and it was it is a cloud version!!!!  This doesn't make sense - anyone out there - can I download to 2 laptops in 2 different locations with a perpetual licence??

  • EJB Model Builder: class is not available in the ejb module archive file.

    Hi,
    We are testing
    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and
SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java(TM) EE 5 Edition.
We created a sample EJB project(EJB 2.1) with an ejb and an EAR project, we deploy it using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
But when we see in the log of the server , there is a message like this:
"EJB Model Builder: Bean class com.saptest.ejb.TestEJBBean is not available in the ejb module archive file., file: TestSAPEJB.jar#TestSAPEJB.jar"
The jar contains this class, we don't know what is wrong.
    Thanks
