Tiff (or tif) file created in Photoshop is not displaying in Firefox 2 or 3

I embedded a tiff file that was created in Photoshop but it is not displaying in Quicktime/Firefox.
It works in other browsers but not Firefox 2 or 3. And another point is that if the Tiff file is created in any other graphics application then it works!
It leads me to think that Photoshop might be adding some metadata to the file that Quicktime/Firefox is not liking.
Any ideas on what might fix this? By the way it happens in both Mac and Windows

There are different types of TIF files with different kinds of contents (compression schemes, channels, bit depths, etc). It is no surprise that you might get different results with different browsers/plugins.
What kind of TIFF are you using? Why are you not using a more standard web image format that does not require the overhead and hassle of an optional plugin?

  • Files Created in Photoshop CC Not Compatable With Older Versions of Photoshop?

I have heard that the new Photoshop CC uses a new file system that is not compatible with older versions of Photoshop so you can only edit them in the new Cloud version of Photoshop CC.  Is this true?

i opened a fine in PSCS 13.1.2.I edited it a bit, converted a layer to a SO and used liquify on that layer.
I saved it as a tiff. Did not try it as a psd.
PSCS5 opened the tiff without complaint, including the SO+liquified layer. When i clicked on the liquify at bottom of the SO layer to try to edit it I got the notice "CANNOT FIND THE FILE", or something like that.
So, I guess pscs5 is already done for.

  • Can I open psd files created in Photoshop CC with lower version? Actually CS5.

Can I open psd files created in Photoshop CC with lower version? Actually CS5.
My home and office have different version each.

Yes, PROVIDED that the file has not been saved with any layers containing any of the specific new features introduced starting with Photoshop CC and higher.
If the file has been flattened or if it was flat to begin with there will be no problems.

  • Import error when importing .psd file created in Photoshop CS3

I have a file that was created in Photoshop CS3. I am trying to import this file into Catalyst CS5, but I keep getting an input error. I created a file in Photoshop CS5 and I was able to import this .psd file successfully into catalyst. So I guess my question is this; Does Catalyst support .psd files created in Photoshop CS5 only? If this is the case, how can I convert the CS3 .psd to a CS5 .psd

I am now building my files using photoshop CS5. A few challenges I have experienced while trying to import into Catalyst:
    - If I do a straight import into Catalyst, I loose all my colors in Catalyst. That is, catalyst imports all my vectors without any of the colors I had in Photoshop. My understanding is that Catalyst has libraries to support Photoshop files, so your import from Photoshop should not look any different in Catalyst.
Work Around: I have had to rasterize / merged all my image layers for the different components I have built in Photoshop CS5. Then when I start the import process I click the Advanced button on the catalyst import dialog. From the advanced dialog, I have to flatten (to bitmap) all the images I intend to import.
This process takes about two hours because I have a lot of components on the page.
Is there something  I'm not doing right here? I'm not seeing the value add to Catalyst, if it's taking me this long to just import .psd files

  • DNG files created with LR4 do not show thumbnails

    Hi,
When using LR3 to create DNG files from my RAW files, those files would show me thumbnails of my image in Windows Explorer.  I am running Windows/7 (64) and have installed a CODEC from "Fast Picture Viewer" that allows thumbnails from RAW & DNG files to be shown.   It seems, however, that the thumbnails do not show for DNG's created with LR4.
To Remedy this I uninstalled the CODEC.  Downloaded the most recent version and installed it but this did not fix the problem.
I then went to the user forum for the CODEC product and searched for my problem.  I found a thread who's solution is to turn off "Embed Fast Load Data" when exporting to DNG and it fixes the problem.  I tried this and indeed it did fix it.  The responder went on to say ".....When this option is enabled the files created are no longer DNGs (just an undocumented private format of Adobe that no one else can read to this date)".   This statement surprised me as it is counter to what I understand Adobe created DNG to be.  Can I get some input on this comment as if true it is very troubling.
My second question is that I see where to turn off the "Embed Fast Load Data" in the LR Export module, but where do I do the same thing in the Import module when I'm selecting import mode "Copy to DNG"?
And, my thrid question is this.  If indeed the DNG files created by LR4 are proper DNG files and this CODEC is just flawed in some way, does anyone have a better way to allow image thumbnails to be shown in Windows Explorer?
    Thanks -- Dan

    Hi David,
You testing does not coincide with mine.  I have consistently kept "Use
lossy compression" turned off.  With lossy turned off, it seems that using
Fast Data Load prevents the thumbnails from displaying whereas turning off
"Fast Data Load" allows the thumbnail to be shown.
Below is comment from Adobe confirming that they have yet to release the
    spec containing "Fast Data Load".

SharePoint 2013 site coll's created. Home page not displaying. Same issue for all site coll's in the farm. Done the basic checks. Any Ideas?

    Hi lakshita,
Would you please check whether you can go to the page:
    http://siteurl/_layouts/settings.aspx page:
http://siteurl/default.aspx page? If so, go to Site Features in site settings page, reactivate the Wiki Page home page feature, check the result.
If not, please check whether there is related information in ULS log and event viewer log file? Does the page shows page not found or other errors? Check whether the site can be opened in other machine?

  • Newly created images will not display in Firefox 8 for Mac. Same images appear in other browsers. Why?

    1. Specific new images are uploaded but will not display in Firefox 8 on my Mac with OS 10.6.8. (Does appear in other browsers, e.g., Chrome and Opera, and appears on Firefox 8 for PC.) Also, other images on the page display.
    2. I have cleared cache, cookies, etc., in Recent History, and restarted both application and computer.
    3. I've tried creating GIF, JPG and PNG, but none show on the page in Firefox on my Mac. I can see the offending image in other browsers such as Chrome on the same computer, and on Firefox on PC. Offending pages are in both PHP and HTML: http://www.brookfieldcivic.org/advertisers.php and http://www.brookfieldcivic.org/advertising_freedom_montessori.html
    Image links: http://www.brookfieldcivic.org/images/advertisers/freedom.png and http://www.brookfieldcivic.org/images/advertisers/Freedom_Montessori_bizcard.jpg

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Some PDF files and other emails do not display the whole page. Is there a way to change that?

If an app does not behave as expected, try closing the app completely and reboot the iPad. It appears as though you have the original iPad. It helps if you list your iPad model and the iOS that you are running.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • File Compatibility, Files Created w/Photoshop on Apple Will Not Open on Windows platform

I have created a book in InDesign CS5.5 that contains Photoshop documents created in Photoshop CS5.1 using a Windows 7 professional 64bit computer. These files were subsiquently modified by a Graphic Artist using the same versions of this software running on an Apple computer. When his files were packaged by Indesign and then returned to me, the linked .tiff files that he had modified in Photoshop would not open again on my computer. Note that other liinked photographs that had not been subsequently modified opened correctly and that the InDesign document included in the package would link and open correctly when the InDesign document opened. Is this a problem with cross platform compatibility?

The platform that created or reads the file doesn't matter -- the files are the same.
No, that is not a platform compatibility issue - because there are no such issues.
Are the files failing to open in Photoshop, or InDesign?
What does the error say when they fail to open?

  • Why doesn't Photoshop CS4 open DNG files created in Photoshop CS5?

I download raw photo files from my Leica Dlux 4 and convert the Leica raw files to DNG files using CS5 Bridge.  Recently I discovered that when I try to access these DNG files in Photoshop CS4 I get a message saying 'cannot access this file'.  The files also do not show up as thumbnails in CS4 Bridge.  Do I need an upgrade or a plug in to see DNG files created in CS5 Bridge in Photoshop CS4?

    System: Windows 7
Third party plug-ins: Not to my knowledge?
    Quicktime: I believe so.
Save Method: I save as two copies, one in the default Photoshop format (PSD) and then I hit "save as" to save as PNG.

  • .pdf files created in Photoshop - Not all layers appear in Connect

So I have created a marketing flyer in Photoshop that contains images and text.  I save this out as a .pdf file and upload to Connect.  When I open the file, many of the layers, usually the text layers, are missing.  I've tried saving the original Photoshop file a number of different ways, like flattening, etc, and the .pdf file a lot of different ways.  But it still appears in Connect missing some of the text layers.  BTW, the original .pdf file is fine.

Understand that not all Adobe PDF features will translate completely in an Adobe Connect meeting if using the Share Document pod.
When you upload a Powerpoint or PDF file using that pod, the document is converted on the fly to Adobe Flash format so it can be streamed very efficiently. Not all features in Powerpoint and PDF files will convert to an equivalent look and feel when converted.  If you see inconsistencies, then try using a different font or font size. Some features just won't translate. Of course as new versions of Adobe Flash are released then more features will convert. So, beware that if you must have a document look exactly as it does in the native application you always have the option of screen sharing where no conversion takes place. Just beware when you use screen sharing you are using a lot more network bandwidth. It's a trade off but you do have a choice!

Are you using the Photoshop SDK, a programmer tool? If so, please
focus the question so the people here know how you are using it. If

  • Tiff files with Alpha Channels do not display or print correctly...

I have Tiff files that have been edited in Photoshop that do not display correctly. As far as I can tell this is caused by the existence of Alpha channels in the channels panel in PS. When the files are imported to Aperture, they only display information from either the alpha channel or a layer using that alpha channel as a mask.
If this is true, what are people doing about it. This cant be acceptable???
Are there any work arounds and is apple addressing this problem?
    Can anyone else confirm this?
I am using Aperture 1.1.2, OS 10.4.7 and PS CS. on a Dual 2GHz Power PC G5 with 4.5 GB RAM
Please note, these are NOT .psd files. I have read and am aware of some psd compatibility issues, and have checked the maximize compatibility in PS.

Thank you for your response, I am trying to figure out what to do differently when we re-create the PDF so we don't have font issues when we combine. I don't want to keep recreating the problem, I am looking for a solution. Why does this happen? What settings do I tell other to apply on their Acrobat? Is the a font issue in Adobe? I found this on a Google search on the internet and can't seem to get it to work on XI PRO.
Embedding fonts into Acrobat 9 through Distiller:
    Launch Acrobat.
Choose Advanced > Print Production > Acrobat Distiller.
    Select Standard in Default settings.
Go to Settings and select Edit Adobe PDF Settings.
Select Fonts and in the font source window select the fonts you want to Add.
Click Save As and then OK.
