Tiffs from camera not displaying preview

My Panasonic DMC-FZ3 camera takes each photo as both a tiff and a jpeg (it uses the jpeg for display on its built-in lcd). The Finder and Apple apps are having a problem with the tiffs (the jpegs are fine). The finder does not display a preview, and the creation date is blank (could this be the problem?). Any attempt to open the files in Preview or import them into iPhoto gives me an error message saying that the files are either unsupported or corrupted. When I used the camera in October there was no problem with the tiffs created by this camera.
The files open fine in Photoshop, Graphic Converter, several other graphics apps, and even Camino and Firefox. If I edit the files and re-save in one of these other programs, the files will then display a preview, open in Preview, and import into iPhoto, but I shouldn't have to do this time consuming intermediate step.
I do not believe this is a problem with the camera. I pulled out an old SD card with photos over 1 year old that had imported fine last November, but I got the error message when trying to import them this time.
I searched these forums and found others with a similar problem, but none of the advice in those threads worked for my issue. I have tried changing the file name, repairing permissions, changing ownership on the library, and running the daily, weekly and monthly unix maintenance scripts. I even reinstalled iPhoto 5.0.4, but no luck.
I think the problem must be deeper than that, because Preview and Safari also refuse to open the tiffs. With that in mind, I ran the 10.4.3 combo updater, but still no go.
Any suggestions?

My camera doesn't do RAW, just jpeg and tiff.
I doubt the files are too large. The tiffs are about 8.5mb each, not overly large at all. The 16 bit question doesn't explain why the OS, Preview, and iPhoto had no problems just 4 months ago.
Another poster here traced the problem to OS 10.4.3. He thinks the .4.3 update broke something in the tiff handling ability. I wonder if there is an older library component I could import that would fix this?

Import from camera not showing preview images

When I import from my DSLR, I see empty boxes representing all the images on the card but no preview. I'm set to import JPEG and the images are JPEG. I have the option Do Not Import Duplicates turned off. I've tried restarting Aperture (3.1) and even restarting the iMac (10.6.5) but to no avail. Does anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Cool this is good, 1 you can still access images and two you have identified Aperture as being the issue. The next step is to do some basic maintenance on your system, have a read of the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics at the following link.

Trouble shooting is about eliminating possibilities, so step through each of these, although unlikely, it is usually the unlikely causing the issue. If it were obvious you would not have asked the question.

Ipad2: pictures transfered from camera, not displayed on my mac (iphoto, itune , phototransfert.....)

I have a simple issue, I have bought an ipad 2 this summer and transfered the picture from my camera in my device. all was perfect to see each evening the piture daily pictures by using a Diaporama.
Now, I would like transfer the picture to my Mac. But I can't see images when I connect my Ipad elseif I Use Itune ,Iphoto, Image transfert or another applications....
What can I do? All is correct on my ipad , it's like the files are invisible...

Have you tried a reset of the iPad : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Have you also tried rebooting your Mac ?
Do the photos still show in the Photos app on the iPad ?

"From" presence not displaying in Outlook 2010

I've been working on a software product aiming presence and im integration with Microsoft Outlook using IMessenger API.
Integration works as expected with Outlook 2013. However, the presence indicator of the
"from" or sender does not display in Outlook 2010. The to, cc and bcc fields all display presence properly. In Outlook 2013 however, all of the from, to, cc and bcc fields display presence.

My problem is similar to this one except that I've the same problem with Outlook 2010 and I don't have this problem with Outlook 2013. It may be resolved in Outlook 2013 with a hotfix I don't know. Does anybody have the same issue and have a fix or workaround
for this situation? I have latest updates for Office 2010 already.

which also have an effect on the presence indicator, please find the
Key in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\IM
or Policy Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Policies\microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\IM
and then check if the key value is set to 0.

Illustrator CC 18.1.1 print preview is not displaying preview properly. Any work around?!

I only started having this problem recently. It might be a Yosemite bug or graphics driver bug. When I go to print in the latest version of Illustrator CC 18.1.1 I get a shrunken window of what print preview should be (see below).
Circumstances are that I have my MBP 15" Retina connected to a Apple Thunderbolt Display. When I'm working in Illustrator on the Thunderbolt display and have the laptop screen open beside it, print preview will not display correctly. If I drag the print dialog box over to the laptop screen, it then shows print preview correctly. Also, I found that if I close the laptop screen and just work off the Thunderbolt display print preview works correctly again. ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY! Please Help!

DNG suddenly not displaying preview

I just opened my aperture to find none on my DNG Image files displaying previews. They all displayed just fine the last time I used aperture. Which come to think of it was before the last OS X update...
Does anyone have any thoughts on why they would all the sudden stop showing a preview?

yea, mine doesn't show previews or let me import, it keeps crashing on import and i have not used it since before the update. i repaired permissions, dunno what that would do tho. I tried using iphoto, but i dunno if my camera imports into it. however, the previews don't show up in iphoto either. so there is definitely an issue.

"From" presence not displaying in Outlook 2013

When running the Lync 2013 client, the presence indicator of the "From" or sender does not display in Outlook 2013. The cc, bcc & to fields all display presence properly.
When I close the Lync 2013 client and the launch the Lync 2010 client, the sender's or "From" presence displays properly.
We are currently running Lync 2010 servers in our environment.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?

I have certainly come across this behaviour with outlook 2013 against Exchange 2007.

I just installed Office 2013 + all MS updates and am very disappointed as Outlook 2013 is functionally inferior to 2010 because of this for us. I work for a large organisation and this would hold back Office 2013 rollout.

How you select which camera to use depends on which application you are using to operate your iSight. Here is how camera selection works in a few examples:
(1) For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
If you cannot see the "Camera" choices bar, your Mac is recognizing only one (or none) of your iSights. In that case, consider the suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 You may want keep your MBP's cover open while testing to ensure that both cameras are possible choices.
This choices bar solution applies ONLY to iChat. Most other applications also have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.
(2) For instance, iMovie HD's camera choice is NOT set via Preferences. When you have more than one compatible camera connected, iMovie uses a drop-down menu choice something like this (depending on which version of iMovie you use):
Note: Because I had no built-in iSight connected when I made this example, when my external iSight was disconnected, the drop-down menu showed only "Time Lapse." Because your Mac has a built-in iSight, your built-in iSight would show in the drop-down menu even when no other camera is connected. Connecting your LED Display's iSight should allow you to choose either camera.

HD from cam to display – how?

A newbie question. I am still working with standard definition miniDV camera, but as I will soon purchase a big HD 1080p flatpanel LCD, thoughts coming up of maybe buying a HD camera too. For that decision I want to know how can I achieve to get HD video from the camera to the display?
A 1080p LCD uses 1920x1080 pixels, so I hope HD cams sold today do shoot in this resolution too? Strange is the do never reveal on Amazon whats precisely the resolution of the cams.
OK, if so, I would then import the HD 1920x1080 pixel movie into iMovie and edit, and from there to iDVD. I would burn on a standard 4GB DVD-R, and of course I will not have so much time to put there as with standard resolution video, how much? Maybe 30 minutes?
Then comes an other question. When I burn a standard 4GB DVD-R thats readable by a standard DVD player, but is such a player able to stream HD video to the Display? Or does this need a special DVD player, or is the whole thing only possible with the new Blueray DVD's?
Will this work with standard RGB cable connection or does full HD need a digital connection between Player and Display? If so, which?

ITunes Store image links do not display - previews & purchases do not work

PLEASE HELP!
Below are the images of what I am seeing.
And I promise you I have really made an effort to research and try to resolve this without success. I have even run iTunes on a completely seperate computer and a different login (both OS user login and iTunes store login) and have the exact same issue.
I have reinstalled with a reboot (several attempts), performed a winsock reset, followed procedures in TS4123 for LSP conflicts, I have cleared my cache, I have checked for Firewall issues, I have restarted my cable modem, I have copied iTunes store links to a browser to check that images are displaying - nothing resolves this problem.
Email support has only recommended what is already posted in communities forum and on the knowledge base.
I have seen that in past there have been posts related to this specific issue but were not answered (for what I found). It seems that unless you are having a complete white screen when accessing the iTunes store that there is no solution for a problem like mine??
Also only "Ping" will display all images for image links.

Updating Contact info from Mail not displaying in Address Book

So I was updating an existing contact from Mail using the data detector feature. Address Book was already running in background. I clicked on the data detector and said "update existing contact". I pick the contact that I want to update. When I go to address book to see if the contact was updated, it "appears" that it hadn't updated. However, if I exit address book and restart the data does appear. So it get's in the database but doesn't display until exit and restart.

After several days of trying, i finally seem to have it working. What i ended up doing was exporting my backing up my addresses on another computer that still had Snow Leopard on it. I exported both as .abbu and vCards. I was then able to get the vCards into iCloud.
Problem was, i could not get them to import into Contacts in Mavericks. I could not even add the iCloud account to contacts. It would let me sign in and choose contacts, but iCloud never showed up in the accounts nor did the contacts show up in Contacts.
After trying repairing permissions and resetting the PRAM to no avail, it occured to me to delete the Address Book folder from /Library/Application Support
Once that folder was gone, i was able to add iCloud to the accounts and import the .abbu file from Address Book.
So if you did not export your Address Book contacts before updating, you will need a second computer that is still running Snow Leopard to export the contacts. Then you can delete the Address Book folder from the Library and you should then be able to import the contacts into Contacts on Mavericks.

Songs imported from CD not displaying in song list

I tried to import songs from three different CDs. The first and third were fine, but the second CD imported, but doesn't display the songs imported in the list of all songs, although they are playing. I tried re-importing and it asks do I want to overwrite. I overwrite and same result. I re-import a second time and ask to not overwrite. Still no sign of the signs in the total list, and it now shows up in the duplicates list. Anyone know how I can find the songs, as they apparently are there, just not visible in the total list.

Dell Inspiron 600M Windows XP Just upgraded to latest iTunes and iPod s/w.

I discovered what the problem was for me. When I looked at the Recently Added songs, I saw that the songs were there. However, for the Name of Song, they showed the artist/song title, and for the Artist it showed "Various Artists". That's why I couldn't find it when I sorted by Title or Artist. By going into Recently Added, I right clicked on each entry and deleted the artist from the Title and added the appropriate artist in the Artist spot. Now the songs are properly logged in the music database and now my iPod.

Image Coming from URLRequest Not Displaying?

I have a main app here with a subclass that is supposed to "send images" based on the "parameters" that sends to a HTTPService.
However, even though the url seems to be generating correctly, I could not see the image. Since my PHP is working fine with the url as shown in the trace statements from my app, I am assuming that there has to be something else that I am missing here.

Data From Query not Displayed on Public Page

Hi all,
I just created a page which has a dynamic portlet that runs a query to display some data. Now I recently made this page public which means that anyone can basically access this page from the outside and not have to login. However, the data does not seem to come up after I access this page on a browser even though the banner comes up fine!! I made the table that the dynamic portlet accesses public. Is there something that I may be missing here? THanks.

Well I went to the grant access tab and there is no make portlet accessable to public. The only place to make a component accessible to public is when your editing a page. The only options when you click on the Grant Access Tab is 1) Publish To Portal and 2) Inherit Previleges From Application.
