Tiger doesn't mount any volume anymore... advance help needed.

Last weekend I made a 'deep clean' to my laptop, migrating my files to an external hd, then formatting, installing Tiger again and moving my stuff back.
I changed my startup disk several times in the process, using both ways, from System Preferences and pressing alt at start. At some point I couldn't see the external disks on my desktop anymore... So far I've made some attempts, in both accounts, mine and root user.
- Disk Utility keeps crashing before opening.
- In Terminal, diskutil verifyPermissions do nothing (my experience with unix commands is quite limited though)
- Cocktail crashes everytime I try to choose the disk.
- Software Update doesn't work, and can't mount any .dmg or CD or DVD either. I've tried to download an update from apple.com, but once downloaded nothing happens.
- System profiler doesn't show info about my ATA devices.
- TechTool Pro passes all tests (??).
Still I can choose the startup disk by pressing alt when starting (so dvd drive and FireWire connections are fine, I guess).
Using a LaCie as a startup disk my internal hard disk has all its permissions fine (DiskUtility & TechTool) or is not possible to read them (Cocktail)...
The only solution is apparently to start again: external startup, migrating, formatting and installing again... Unless you guys have a better idea.
Has anyone found this problem before? Is there any way to fix it?

Turn the volume up... in call volume and sounds (ring, notifications, etc) are seperate volume controls.

APE8 doesn't open any projects anymore

My APE8 doesn't opene any projects anymore. In some cases it allows me to create a new project, but after shutting down the computer and restarting it the next day or so it cannot open the project I made th day before. As a matter of fact: it cannot open any project anymore.
After clicking to open the project a small window appears with a bar indicating the percentage the project has loaded. When the bar reaches 100% it disappears and nothing comes instead of it: the screen stays grey as shown in the screenshot.
There is a menu bar however.
In Adobe help and through Customer Support is searched for help as well. I worked my way throught 2 documents: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/515/cpsid_51584.html and http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/515/cpsid_51552.html. I both did them step by step. including the removal and re-installation of the software. Nothing helped, the results stay the same: projects do not open, and the screen stays grey.
Can anybody help me?

Thank you for being there again...
I worked through your list:
Install all Windows Updates. (All updates are installed)
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.9 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it. (I updated from 7.6.8 to 7.6.9)
•Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites. (The most recent versions are installed: video: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 V 8.631.0.0; sound ATI High Definition Audio Device V5.0.7000.4)
Free up at least 30GB, preferably 60GB disk space(130 GB available)
Run Disk Cleanup. (I did so)
Run Defragmenter. (I did so)
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning. (I use McAfee, and it is kind of hard to find the 'switch'... I haven't been able to switch it off yet.)
Tonight, when I started my computer up, APE worked. After closing APE and using the IE I could no longer open my project.
Sometimes I feel as if it might have something to do with a memory issue. As if there is not enough memory. I use a Dell Studio XPS 16 with Windows 7 and 4 GB memory and 1920x1080 resolution.

Iphone 4s is charging, but doesn't indicate that it's charging - HELP NEEDED ASAP

Goodmorning to you all, this is my very first post in the apple community and i would like to greet all of you !
My iphone had recently stopped indicating that it is charging (When the battery turns green & the lightening sign comes on), but it's still charging. It charges very slow, but if turned off, it charges very fast. In addition, it is not connecting to the computer or syncing to itunes. I do not know if this is a hardware issue, or is it my connector cord... i have not tried any other connector cord as yet. Any feed backs or help that can be given will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your iPhone 4s in relation to charging. Trying a different cord is definitely a great isolation step. The following resource provides additional steps that you can try as well:

Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
1. Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
- Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
- Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
- If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
- Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
2. Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
3. Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
4. Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
5. If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
6. If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.
I also understand that your iPhone is not recognized in iTunes when connected. This too may be related to the cable itself, however here are some troubleshooting that you can attempt, based on your computer’s operating system:

Having the same issue when sent from my iPhone, iPad, Mac or iCloud...says it's being sent, but nothing in my Mail sent folder and the recipient never gets it. Worked fine before the iOS 5/iCloud update.

[SOLVED] Thunar doesn't show external volumes anymore

Hello,
Thunar used to show external devices (USB sticks, iPod, ...) in the left panel (when displaying shortcuts instead of tree). For some reason I can't figure, it doesn't do it anymore.
All I have in the left panel is the standard "home, Desktop, filesystem" and the static links to the different folders I placed there.
I tried to uninstall completely thunar and remove the configuration files, then re-install it, but it changed nothing.
Desktop : openbox.
Running daemons (I'm not sure if all of theme are relevant) : dbus, hal, fam.

Usually a hard reset of the device resolves this error. A reset is equivalent to rebooting your PC. To do the reset, first make sure the Hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

I accidentally left my phone unprotected during the rain. My phone got wet and when I got home the sound won't work and the next day it doesn't let me charge anymore. HELP!

I went out to join the amazing race challenge in my work. When we were almost to the end, the weather changed and it started raining. I put my phone my my backpack and got wet along with my other stuff. By the time I got home, there's no more sound and it keeps showing "SLIDE TO TURN OFF". Then the next day, I can't charge anymore.

You might consider a case like Otterbox or something similar for active events in outdoor use. They not only give good protection against drops but also protect from water. It's not meant to swim with take underwater pictures but really good for rain splatter or the situation you were in. Good luck.

IPHONE 4 DOESN'T ACCEPT WIFI PASSWORDS ANYMORE - PLEASE HELP!

My iPhone 4 out of blue decided not to accept the wifi password- it says "wrong password for xxx network" - it's my home one it always worked-
I was away and worked fine for a week in others houses (where the password was stored already) went to other house, tried to connect with passwprd and started saying the pw was wrong - got home last night and didn't connect right away as usual(maybe because I've reset the network when away) so I've put the pw in and again says it's wrong - Of course the password is correct - laptop works fine and iPod touch as well - At work there is a non protected wifi and it connects fine - So looks like the iPhone doesn't accept passwprds for the wifi
I've tryed to reset the network few times, reboot it few times, reset all settings and update the sofware (version 5.0.1) - nothing worked - aw also unpluged and re-pluged the router at home (knowiing wouldn't' help)
PLEASE help, very frustrating - I've seen few people had the same issue but nothing worked.

Incorrect. The passcode lock is not included with the backup. The restrictions passcode is, but not the passcode lock. If it were included with the backup, you would need to restore as a new device or not from the backup. Either way, you must restore with iTunes which is the only way around a forgotten passcode.

When i unlock my ipod touch 4th generation and i click on an applicatio to play a game it flashes and the screnn reappears as it was and doesn't connect. any suggestions that would help solve my problem?

My computer doesn't recognize any software update, but I need to upgrade to 10.8 ?!?!?! haaalppp

I have to update iTunes in order to sync my phone, but I can't update iTunes with my current software (mac OS X, version 10.5.8) It says I need version 10.8 something. But when I go to software update and check, it says my software is up to date. OBVIOUSLY it isn't. Why is this happening? What can I do to make my computer realize it needs an update??? AAAAGHHH

The Minimum requirement for iTunes Version 11 is OS X 10.6.8
Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x

Outlook is empty after update - Many fixes tried already - Advance help needed

Hello there,
First of all, I've scoured many forums and tried many fixes, so this is not a first-look question, I've really tried my best for the past 12 hours.
Yesterday my MacBook froze with Excel and Outlook and I had to do a hard shutdown, which was more complicated to do than expected. Right after that, I did a disk repair and a permissions repair. After a new restart, I figured I should also download the most recent Office update (14.4.2 I think, though I don't know where to check). Then I went to bed. When I opened my computer this morning, my Outlook was empty of all emails. The folders and accounts were there, but no emails at all. So I looked in forums and saw that I should do a Main Identity rebuild. So I did that, it took about 3 hours (way too long, right?) and it blocked at Step 4, "Impossible to rebuild database". The forums said if that doesn't work, created a new identity, migrate the Microsoft User Data for Outlook into the new identity and do a new rebuild. I migrated all of the data and did a new rebuilt, stuck again. Another forum said to be more selective with the data migrated (only the most important folders, like Messages, Contacts, Folders, etc.). Did that with another new identity and it completed the 5 steps. But when I opened the new Outlook with that new identity, now it was all brand new and empty. So I decided to go back to the root and go back to the original Main identity and do a new rebuild with that one. Now it says that it works with a previous version of Outlook, so I'm thinking the culprit is the update, but from what I can understand, it's impossible to go back on an update without completely uninstalling Office.
Of course, I restarted the system every time and restarted the system in safe mode for the Outlook try-outs.
Also of course I wouldn't be in that trouble if I could just TimeMachine a few days back, but I was travelling for the past months and had external drives problems, so my last timemachine dates a few months back (stupid, I know, but that's how it is.)
So to recap:
- I still have my Microsoft User Data files (for example through Office 2011 Identities / Main Identity / Messages / OT / OB / OM / Loads of files dating back from 2013 to this morning.)
- Original Rebuild didn't work.
- New identity Rebuild didn't work
- New Identity Rebuild worked but Outlook still empty
- Return to Main Identity rebuild rejects new Office update.
What can I try next?

I had meanwhile created a new nickname, very similar to the original one, and requested that they swap the advanced world to the new id. I sent this last Saturday evening. This morning (so effectively on their first workday after my request!) I received a kind response from Rachael that they had swapped the parks. Like your daughter my son couldn't believe his eyes. Advanced Help Needed - Restoring iPhone data from Backup

Upon updating my iPhone 3G[S] from 3.1 to 3.1..2 I did a full restore, I made sure to backup the device before this. Post-update/restore I, accidentally, hit "Set up as new phone" therefore deleting my earlier backup, a backup I have been building on for over 2 years now. When realizing that iTunes had automatically deleted my backup, I quickly opened my file recovery program and got the whole backup folder restored to a separate drive. I moved the whole freshly-recovered back up folder to the correctly directory within iTunes appdata, right next to where my new/empty/useless backups where. Right clicking my device within iTunes and selecting "Restore from backup" my backup from earlier in the day was not listed. After further inspection of the backup folder that I had recovered I noticed that there was no Info.plist file. I went into the other/useless backup that iTunes had just made and brought the info.plist into my older backup folder, now in iTunes my older backup was listed, I selected it and attempted to restore to only receive an error half way through restore "(-32)" to be exact. I checked again and again with my recovery tools to see if the original info.plist file was deleted, it was not, I have no idea why it would be missing, but worse is that I have no idea how I can get iTunes to restore the backup without it, considering it doesn't even recognize it the backup as existing without it, is there way to create a custom info.plist so I could restore or force a restore outside of iTunes? Please any advice would be greatly appreciated !

Backup c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
If you copy these folders into a new computer in the same location (or the contents of a current long name folder into one of the long name folders in backup) you should be able to restore your old data.
Outside of that maybe track down the location of your outlook PST or address book database. support.microsoft.com probably has some tips.

In java only - no.
If there is a command line tool that does it then you can use Runtime.exec() with an OS specific command. Presumably you are talking about windows so you might look in the appropriate resource kit. That is probably the most likely location for a command. But it could be somewhere else too.
If you can't find a command then you would have to use JNI.
