Tiger in french and iLife en english..why

Hello,
Could you please explain why, after having installed Tiger in French, all the iLife applications are in English, even though they were in French before? The Finder is in French but not iLife?? I don't know what to do! Should I throw iLife in the trash and re-install it? Thanks to anyone who speaks French and can help me!
But I can read English, if someone can help me

  • Upgrading MacBook Tiger to SL and iLife 09

I currently have a MacBook running Tiger and I also have the Family pack of iLife 09. What is the correct procedure for upgrading Tiger to SL and iLife 09? It is not clear to me that I can upgrade to SL with out using the Box Set?

If you don't need iLife '09 and iWork '09, the least expensive route from Tiger to Snow Leopard is to buy a copy of Leopard and the Snow Leopard upgrade from a dealer. Amazon has Leopard for $95.99 and the Snow Leopard upgrade for $25.00. That's cheaper than the $149.99 Amazon sells the Box Set for, though the Box Set would be a better deal if you want iWork even though you already have iLife.
    Regards.

  • New Imac with Tiger want Leopard and ILife without waiting

I just got a new IMac for Christmas but it has Tiger on the hard drive and in the box. (Last time I buy hardware from Amazon). I do have a full Leopard install disc I used on my Laptop. Can I use this while I wait for my free Leopard upgrade to come or is this breaking the user agreement? Secondly if I do a clean install when I get Leopard how do I get ILife back onto the IMac without buying it again?(since it came pre- installed)?

    My personal opinion........
I really wish they would fix it or do away with it....
A simple thanks for the help would do it for me rather than these misguided points...
It's not like Apple is giving away computers when a person hits 50,000 points....
So, really, what good is the point system when the points are NOT given out properly........?????
Happy Holidays and you take care.........
The other dupe is gone. Wonder what would have happened if I got the star on that post? Easy come, easy go?
I was not here for the original post system, wherein if I simply posted, "what a great day" I would get points for no reason at all except that I typed something. You certainly would not want that, would you?
When you see people with zillions of credits, look at the date they registered. Most were here when the credits flowed like green beer on St. Pat's day on Brody Mountain.
I think you are dwelling on the few exceptions, however. Most people here actually do earn their stars and for those who do not like the system, they can simply ignore it.
The truth is that I did answer his question in that now deleted post first, and that is probably why the credit for the solution. Yes?

    HI GalaxieMusique,
I'm french too, but I'm going to write this post in english so that everyone may understand it
I have the same problem in Mavericks, but I'd say, more important, with QuickLook.
Indeed Quicklook can't read avi movies anymore. Actually it always been the case, but with Perian we were able to fix it. The problem is that Perian is no longer available for Mac OS 10.9....
I'd assume that our only hope is Apple themselves... It would be nice from Apple to creat an add-on for quicklook to be able to preview the avi movies.
In regards with quicktime, you can download QuickTime 7 here:
    http://www.01net.com/telecharger/windows/Multimedia/lecteurs_video_dvd/fiches/10 0.html
and ask all the .avi movies to be played by QuickTime 7 and not QuickTime X (included into Mac OS).
Sorry for the english, we french people can make mistakes sometimes
If anyone has a solution for QuickLook, please do not hesitate. This topic is becoming a real mess....

  • IWork and iLife apps are _not_ showing free in the AppStore anymore. Why?

Just uppgraded to iOS 7.0.3 on my new iPhone 5s. iWork and iLife apps are _not_ showing free in the AppStore anymore, only the Buy (for a price) option is there. Why? These apps used to show up free for me earlier, but i didn't install them due to the reported system instability they caused. That instability is reportedy addressed in iOS 7.0.3 but the apps are not free anymore, are they? Looks like it's not what was advertised...

Ok... rebooting my iPhone 5s one more time after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3 solved the problem - after the reboot all the iWork and iLife apps are showing free in the AppStore again... Good deal!

  • Removing OS 10 Tiger in Spanish and installing OS 10 tiger in English

I am not aware that it is possible to buy an english language version imac in sunny Spain.
I am living in Spain (but am returning to my native english speaking New Zealand)at the end of this year, and want to "come over" to the other side and buy an apple imac and move on from my PC.
So want to know if it is possible (and if so how), to un-install the spanish language version of Tiger that will come with a spainish bought imac, and install an english language version of the same OS(which I could buy separately) - also are there any other issues.
Any better ideas anyone has as to change the language- short of getting an Easy-jet flight to London and buying it there would be naturally welcome.
    cheers

Hi BazMan and welcome to Apple Discussions.
In addition to Mike's advice, when you buy a new Mac and first turn it on, one of the first things you get asked is which language you want. Changing from Spanish to English won't be an issue.
Enjoy your Mac when you get it.

  • FCE 2 and Tiger and iLife 05 or Leopard and iLife 08? on G5 Power Mac 2.5

I want to do basic and advanced editing with my FCE 2
I have Quicktime pro and Apple TV and Airport Extreme Base Station that I am about to hook up and integrate with my computer and Television.
Should I leave well enough alone with my Tiger and iLife 05 or should I install a full version of Leopard and iLife 08
I'm thinking I need the Leopard and 08 for the Apple TV and Airport Extreme Base Station.
Should I go ahead and put the Leopard and 08 and Quicktime Pro and UPGRADE to FCE 4, I can do this?
But will my old 2004 G5 2.5 Dual handle all this.
I could as easily stay with Tiger and FCE 2 and 05 except for the Apple TV and the Extreme Base Station.
Sorry I'm so long. I'm totally confused?

I'm one of the ones that got hurt really bad when Apple went from the G5 to Intel
I paid $3500 in Dec 2004 for what I thought was going to be the center of a Recording and Video Studio for music Video's and Documentaries.
I lost three years due to health matters and my Applecare expired Dec 2007
I'm trying to recover and start filming and recording.
I know that I will have to go with a new Intel PowerMac 8 core to run Final Cut Studio 2 beginning one year from now. I can't afford it now.
I'm trying to buy stuff that will work with the new Intel and my old G5 for now.
I bought the AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and an Apple TV in September to integrate with my new Panasonic Plasma 42" High Definition TV and a ONKYO 7.1 Home Theater System. $900 for the TV and $300 for the ONKYO
I bought a Canon HV20 High Definition and Standard Definition Camcorder to film with.
I want to shoot and film and edit sound and video on my current Mac until I get the newer computer and software that I am going to need to accomplish my goal of near professional quality in all facets. So this is the first step. I will be able to run all this stuff but compatibility issues are killing me because of the G5 Intel Changeover.
The learning curve I am trying to lessen by getting as near as I can to what next year will be fully modern and state of the art Apple Equipment and Software instead of piecemeal like I'm doing. I'm trying to lesson my losses the best I can and get this thing going without losing any more valuable time. I am 63 years old and couldn't set a watch seven years ago. It has taken me this long to get somewhat of a handle on what I knew was unimagined capability for a common man with all this new technology.
I bought the Leopard thinking I needed it. I can not use it and resell it pretty easily. I have no tech support, I'm trying to get this thing to work.

  • Why is iCal in . and not in English? And why does it cast its malign spell over Mail?

Why is iCal in German and not in English? And why does it cast its malign spell over Mail?

Go to the Settings app and check under General, International and see what language is set. Even if it correctly set, reset it.
If that doesn't work, try a rest of the iPad: hold down the On and Home buttons simultaneously until it shuts down. Ignore the Off slider if it appears. This will take 10 - 15 seconds or so. After it shuts down completely, press the On button to restart.

  • Is it possible (simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

I am in the process of changing my computer and would like to buy an iMac. I live in France but want to buy an iMac with English OS and a qwerty keyboard.  Is it possible (simply, and I mean simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

  • Download: French AND English versions?

    Hello everyone,
I bought last week the English downloadable version of Photoshop CS4. What I need in fact is a copy including both French and English. At the moment, I can buy either the English or the French version. There doesn't seem to be a way to do that, and it seems to me a bit strange. I need this because I'm a member of French and English forums where I have to know command names in both languages.
What is still more bizarre is the fact that in this English version, Bridge includes in fact at least 15 languages!
Is there a way around this, short of buying another copy, which would really not do?
    Roger The Photographer

Thanks Buko, I shall call them. I am a bit surprised you see, as most (not all...) applications' UI on OS X will use the language of the OS as determined by the user in Preferencees->International.
In Photoshop, the choice of the language for the UI is fixed in Preferences->Interface->UI Text Options->UI language. Clearly Adobe expects that the user will have a choice. Right now the only choice is English.
As I said, for Bridge that is installed with the same download, apparently "English only", is not English only! You've got 23 different languages to choose from, from a slightly different path: Preferencees->Advanced->International->Language: . Right now I'm trying to use Bridge in Chinese...
I love to use all my applications in my own language, which is French. But I must know the command names in English, even if it's only to be a member of forums about Photoshop.
    Look at this:
    Adobe Reader: localised
    Adobe Media Player: localised
    Adobe Bridge: localised
    Adobe Device Central: English only
Adobe Drive: Windows in French, menus English only!
    Adobe Extension Manager: localised
Job half done, in other words. I hope I can have the French localisation for free.
    Cheers,

  • Exe in french and runtime engine in english can it run?

exe in french and runtime engine in english
    also max version is english
    can it run successfully?

    Hello,
You can build your executable with the french version of LabVIEW and run your executable with the english Run-Time Engine. However, note that strings in menus (such as File, Edit, Project, Help, and so on) and pop-up menus depend upon the version of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine you are using with the executable. If you use the english Run-Time Engine, the menus always appear in english, regardless of the language of your operating system.
Also, note that for standard dialog boxes, LabVIEW uses strings (such as Open, Close, Save, and so on) that are specific to the operating system. Some dialogs contain LabVIEW specific strings (for example, Select Cur Dir), which LabVIEW displays in french, german, or japanese, according to the operating system's regional settings.
So if you need french menus and LabVIEW resources in your executable, use the french version of the Run-Time Engine available here.
Good luck and have a nice day!
