Tiger installation disc for Intel Proc

Greetings, does anyone know where I may be able to pick up an installation disc for Tiger that will work on my new intel based mac book pro? I have a family pack of Tiger licenses but it's for the Power PC chipset (all my other macs are the older chips). My new MBP shipped with Leopard and is sluggish at best. I would like to go to a Tiger build on my MBP, but obviously my PPC Tiger won't install. I was going to call Apple tomorrow to inquire about one, but didn't know if anyone else ever ran into this issue and could give me some advice.
Thanks, Scott

You're probably stuck with Leopard, especially it if shipped with it. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25784 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25497

I'm not sure if this is considered the proper place to put this thread, but it seemed like the most logical location.
I have a MacBook Pro that I bought nearly a month ago now, and it's been working beautifully. I recently got a program, and in the installation guide, it said to intall X11 to be able to put the software on my computer, saying that it was on the installation discs for OSX Tiger. The issue is, when I took out the OSX installation discs, it turns out that I have tow copies of Disc 2, as opposed to a copy of the first disc and one of the second. Is there any way It'd be possible to be sent a copy of the first installer disc? Thanks in advance for any help.

Alright, that helps, but I searched for a phone number and it didn't turn up any results, and looking through the booklets that came with my laptop didn't grant any enlightenment either. Is there something I'm missing?

  • Tiger installation disc won't eject and won't open.

My hard disk crashed on my Powerbook G4. I have the aluminum 17 inch with 1.0 mhz. I had OS X 10,4.7 installed on it. I bought a new hard drive from iFixit.com with more memory. The installation seemed to go OK. I put my Tiger installation disc in and nothing happens. I can turn on the computer but other than the light in the door opener nothing happens. I can't eject the Tiger disc now. I have tried the eject button, starting it up with the mouse key pressed down, starting up with the option key depressed and nothing works. I tried getting into it manually with tweezers and I couldn't grab it. Do I need to install from the original Software install and restore disc? If so, how can I get the Tiger disc out so I can get the original installation disc in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also might try holding down the Option Key during bootup.
Is that a Wired Mouse? Many times a Wireless one wont be seen during boot.

  • Can I start up my new imac (Snow Leopard) from a Tiger installation disc?

Last week I upgraded to an entirely new machine. My old imac was running on Tiger and the logic board failed. Though I had an external, I had my local Apple store transfer my hard drive data to my new mac. Since then, I've run Disc Utility a few times, each time with no problem until today.
Disc Utility is giving me the following error:
The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
Since I don't have a Snow Leopard disc, I've tried starting up with my old Tiger installation disc, but to no avail... At the risk of sounding a little stupid, should Apple have given me a Leopard disc with my purchase?

you can not use the tiger disk. you need to use your snow leopard disk. what happened to yours? every new computer comes with one. it's called install disk one and is packaged with every new computer.

  • My new iMac 10.7.3 rejects the installation disc for Microsoft Office 2011. What shall I do?

My new iMac 10.7.3 rejects the installation disc for Microsoft Office 2011. What shall I do?

A little more description would help. What exactly do you mean by Rejects the disc? Does the DVD drive eject the disc shortly after inserting it?
Does the Office installer say something, like can't install on this Mac?
If the Office disc is ejected shortly after insertion try cleaning the disc. Try another DVD disc of any type to see if it is the Office DVD or if the drive ejects all discs.
If it ejects all DVD or CD discs then the drive is bad and you ned to Return your new Mac fro a Full Refund and then buy another NEW unit.

  • Lost installation disc for OS 10.4 (Tiger). Can I get a replacement?

Should I try to replace this disc (how?)...or is it better to purchase Leopard and upgrade. I have old AppleWorks documents and do not know if they will run on Leopard.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I can confirm that Appleworks 6.2.9 works reliably with Leopard, but doesn't come with Leopard. Also the Leopard installer disc does not include any portion of iLife except iTunes and does not include any of the games that shipped with your Mac except Chess, and does not include the hardware test that shipped with your Mac. For those reasons, I'd definitely consider asking AppleCare for the original installer discs. Also none of those applications come with Tiger retail either except Chess.

  • How can I get tiger installation discs?

Photoshop CS2 opens but wont perform any task (open jpgs, create new jpgs etc). Other CS2 progs such as indesign are fine. MAC shop, couldn't fix, said I should try install op system 4 Powerbook G4-dont have discs- can I get them? or other solution? Am using OS 10.4.11- I think I need Tiger?  Thanks for any help

    Apple no longer has them.
    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
        * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
        * Built-in FireWire
        * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
        * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
        * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools  (I recommend 20GB minimum)

    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

  • How do I get an Installation Disc for Lion after I already installed it.

I am furious, with myself and Apple.... I started this journey of upgrading to Lion soley because I needed to increase the capacity of the HD on my early 2008 MBP. I saw that it was much easier with Lion, I didn't see or understand the part about only on brand new computers...
I have already upgraded the HD once before and had NO PROBLEMS... Time Machine back up and all that.
I am only a Mac user for 3 years... I love it... But some preconceptions die hard...
LIKE ....WHY CAN'T I MAKE A DVD OF MY INSTALL DISC AFTER THE INITIAL INSTALLATION OF LION?????? ESPECIALLY SINCE I DIDN"T GET ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE???
Yea, I didn't read the fine print, I had to make one at the time of installation.... I didn't know that I wouldn't be given the chance again????
Darn Darn Darn.... I only upgraded as a step along the path of upgrading the Hard Drive.... NOW I CAN"T WITHOUT MAJOR HEADACHES.... Grrrrrr
    LOL
So, Apple... if you are gonna distribute your OS this way... fine... but jeez, how about making it so we can get an installation disc after we missed the chance on initial installation???
    What do I do?

Thank you... I will take your advice and relax...
    OK will do.
As you can tell, I totally disagree with apple on this.... It should be a DEFAULT that the ability to make a DVD start up disc is always there... not the other way around.
I have spent hours on this upgrade... upgrading the Snow Leopard, upgrading to Lion, Installing new hardware, re-installing new hardware, re-installing the old hardware...
Some people, like myself, have the ability to DIY, but I don't have the incredible highly detailed inside knowledge that I apparently have to possess...
    Thanx

  • Installer disc for MBP 10.4.9

    Hello,
I purchased an external HD today, have transferred my music and photographs to this HD (~106Gb) Problem is, I'm told that I need to have the installer disc to perform "Erase and Install" -- the disc, I can't find. I'm still under warranty through 2009.
Who or where might I get another disc to perform this function or, can my local APPL store do it for me?
    Thanks in advance,
    - mar

    Of course it did.
    Lost 'em; my bad.
I called APPL today for a new set (of discs). They were very gracious in sending me a new set which I should receive in ~ one week.

  • How to download a windows installation disc for pavilion dv7-6b78us

After F11, try to restore system, my screen asking for Windows installation discs. I don't have. How could I download one. cant find it from HP support yet.

    Hi:
You cannot download recovery disks. They must be purchased from HP.
You can read the info at the link below on how to do that.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
You can however, download and make your own plain Windows 7 installation DVD if you can read the 25 character Windows 7 product key on the bottom of your PC.
    Here's how:
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Lost installation disc for Wireless-G WRT54GC

    Hi there,
Apparently I lost my installation disk for my Wireless-G WRT54GC router and I checked out the downloads section to see if the contents of the installation disc were offered and apparently it wasn't. I'm planning to reformat my computer and might need the software to set it up and I was wondering if there's an available download link for it.
    thanks a lot.

You can use the EasyLink Connect software, at Linksys.com > Support > Technical Support > EasyLink Home.
