Tiger is making my isight act wierd

Ever since I upgraded to tiger my isight has been acting strange. Now, when ever I try to start a video chat with someone it tells me that the connection was terminated because I didn't respond even though I'm the one who started the video chat. Also, with some people after initiating the video chat, it will say starting video chat but it will not go through. I tried this a couple of times with two different friends and they all say that the video chat starts but that all they see is black. When they start the video chat, the connection goes through fine but I cant hear them and it takes a while for them to hear me. We all have high speed internet, and aim. I'm operating on ichat av 3.0.1. Everything was fine with my i chat until i upgraded to tiger. Can anyone help?
p.s.
I dont know anyone that owns a mac, would anyone be interested in helping me test my connection?

    Hi erastyle,
Actually the Licensing information for the package is missing hence it is not launching any applications. You need to Reserialize the products using APTEE which you can find it on the Machine where you have created the package. If you dont have the access to that Machine then please download and install Creative Cloud Packager and it will download APTEE in the below mentioned location.
    Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\CCP\utilities
Once downloaded please follow this KB article to use the Tool.

  • My computer is acting wierd and i want to transfer all my itunes to anther comp. how can i do this i dont want to lose two ipods and my iphone!! help!!

my computer is acting wierd saying it cannot start up properly, I am getting wrried that it may crash, how do I get all my itunes,..music..movies..pictures etc for all of my devices on to another computer?  is Icloud only for music? what about phone contacts

There are a few methods described on this page for how to copy your iTunes content between computers : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
For syncing your devices to that new computer, these two articles might be of use
    syncing with a new computer : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
    recovering content from a device : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
If the photos are those that you've synced to the device from your computer then you will need to copy the directory that they are in on your computer. If they are photos that you've copied from your device to your computer theg you can also either copy their directory, or (if they are still on it) re-copy them from the device onto the new computer (photos to computer).

  • Macbook acting wierd even after fresh install of OS

i've got a 13" macbook i've had for a couple of years. i've had no problems with it until about a month ago when it started acting weird. it was becoming very slow and crashed regularly when i tried to run simple applications like itunes or safari. even when i tried to shut it down, it sometimes gave me that message on the screen where it informes you to hold down the power button to shut down.
i decided to do a complete re-install of my osx to give it a fresh start. so having re-installed leopard, and with nothing on my hard drive apart from the pro tools and cubase programs i've re-installed (it won't be these as they're both legit programs that i've been using on this mac for 2 years), it still seems to crash and not shut down properly.
i've actually done another clean re-install a couple of days ago to see if this made a difference, but sti ll the same problems.
i was under the impression that any viruses or bugs that we're making my mac act weird would have been wiped when i done a fresh install of my os.
can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong?
    thanks

    It's not a virus.
The screen you see (that requests you to restart your computer) is referred to as a kernel panic; these are often hardware-related.
What you're describing sounds like a possible hard drive failure.
Have you run the Apple Hardware Test? Is your computer still under warranty?
Get your data backed up, if you haven't already, just in case!

    K8n Neo 4 acting wierd

I just built a new computer with this board.   I run an online graphical game (Dark Age of Camelot) for 1 hour, and then the virtual memory overloads and crashes the game.  I do NOT have any of your other symptons tho.  Possibly related?  Latest drivers for everything, no viruses or spyware to be found.  I havnt been able to locate this problem.

  • Anyone running Tiger & Retrospect with an iSight?

I do support work for a user who has an iMac 800Mhz and an iSight camera. He also has a LaCie external (FireWire) hard drive and we use Retrospect 6 to do backups to file-based sets on that drive. Recently, we upgraded the station to Tiger (and did the corresponding Retrospect upgrade for 10.4 compatibility). Ever since then, the nightly backups get intermittent failures, reporting read errors (bad media) when trying to verify writes to the hard drive. I've bantered with LaCie tech support about this; they've had me update the firmware on the drive, and I even went so far as to reformat the hard drive (using Tiger's version of Disk Utility) but the problem keeps coming back. Even though the drive is under warranty, LaCie won't exchange it based upon only Retrospect having read errors. They've asked me to do all sorts of other testing, like attaching it to another computer, try another FireWire cable, copy large sets of files (1GB+) back-and-forth to the drive. It seemed like rigmarole to me.
But I posted a question about this to the Dantz forum, and he says this problem happens to him -- but only if he's left his iSight also plugged into the iMac! We're not daisy-chained here; I have the LaCie drive in one port and the iSight in another -- but I'm wondering if anyone else out there can confim having this problem on their systems? If so, anyone know if it is supposed to be fixed in a future update?

    Hello CC and Paul.
    Welcome to Apple Discussions, CC.
I am sorry to hear that you are having these problems. Most of us who upgraded from 10.3.9 (a mature OS X version) to Tiger 10.4 (the initial release of the version) immediately noted that all was not well. Try the good suggestions already posted in response to your problems. If they do not get you sorted, here follow my best ideas.
As does everyone else, I expect that things will continue to improve as the updates are issued, but until then, the best I can offer is my suggestions for making the current version of Tiger work as well as I can. I also offer my work arounds for the remaining problems.
    First, I suggest that
    b everyone
update to the latest version of the Mac OS they use. 10.3.9 and 10.4.2 both offer significant improvements over their predecessors. If you do not already have a well tried and good method of updating, see How I Update My Mac OS X.
    Then,
    b everyone
    should also try the
    b GREAT
suggestions above regarding updating to the current firmware and software versions on
    b everything
that is giving trouble. Apple covers Mac, the OS, Apple applications, and iSight with Software Updater. However, you will need to check and update all 3<small>rd</small> party hardware and software separately. Many 3<small>rd</small> party apps require updating for compatibility with new OS X version updates. Some patience may be required because development of the 3<small>rd</small> party updates can take a while. In the meantime, 3<small>rd</small> party questions that are not quickly resolved in Apple Discussions are likely best resolved in the 3<small>rd</small> party Support Pages or their dedicated discussions forums.
I have no help to offer to those who must keep iSight, TV or other AV devices, external drives, and other Firewire devices all connected to their Macs all the time. As explained in the Possible hardware or software conflicts with iSight. FAQ, I use iSight by itself.
iSight's demand for a solo connection to my Mac is not new to Tiger. It worked exactly the same for me in Panther, even in 10.3.9. I must
    b unplug.
Nothing else works for me. See How to turn iSight (really) off.
Those who have healthy Macs (Mac OS X maintenance), should not need a telephone to ask someone to connect iSight. iChat AV can run without iSight. In fact, I normally leave my iSight unplugged. A text or audio message asking to plug in iSight when convenient works for me. (You may need to reset the
    b iChat > Preferences... > Video > Microphone
to "iSight Built-In" after you connect your iSight.)
Cheers to Ian, Bill and ÜberMacHead for their good posts,

  • Late MacBook Pro's built in iSight acting weird (goes thru color cycle)

I got my late MacBook Pro 2.4, and it was all good, and during one of my iChat video conferences the other person informed me that my video was acting strange. It was going through a color cycle (green, red, yellow, etc), you could see my image but it would cycle through each color very very fast and non-stop.
I had the unit replaced, got the new one, and it all seemed perfect, until last night, the color cycle started up for about 3 seconds and stopped again. What could be the problem? Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a software thing?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem. After a few seconds of the color cycle it would go to black. This was on any program using the iSight including Skype, Photo Booth and iChat.
They replaced my display/iSight and it's fine now.

  • Built-in iSight Acting Up

The built in iSight of my iMac is acting very strangely:
    - On Photo booth it takes still images very intermittently, like having a framerate of 0.2p.s. Sometimes the image are virtually black whereas others are fine.
    - On iChat the image is constant but flickers and the picture breaks up.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi, try the SMC reset route..

  • Isight acting up - anyone else?

    Hello there.
I've had the new MBP for a couple of months now...at first isight cam worked great but now is acting up...if i'm sitting down it looks so-so and if i stand up or move the lid it goes nuts and goes first blurry then black with multi-colored lines...it happens under two different mac user accounts.
I assume it's either isight or the ambient light sensor? Anyone else experience this?
    Thanks.
    J.

I would definitely give Apple a call as well. This sounds like a hardware issue to me... possibly related to the lens and focus on the camera itself.
However, have you tried the camera with some different software? For ex: Photobooth and iChatAV? If it does this on both those apps I'd say you have a malfunctioning camera.

  • IPhone acting wierd after 1.1.3 update.

After the new software update, my iPhone screen stops responding randomly. It only happens while I'm on safari and the iPod. It only happens rarely on the iPod, but when on safari, it happens enough to be a nuisance. Is this a problem other people are having or is it my iPhone itself?

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps in the order I provided with my first post in this thread with the last being calling AppleCare or making an appointment at an Apple Store?
This is not normal except for getting slow to think from time to time with powering the iPhone off and on - which should be done with a GSM phone every few days or so regardless or a Reset which should take care of this aspect.
I power my iPhone off and on each morning before beginning the day and I usually do a Reset once a week or so just to keep things running smooth.

  • IMac G5 (without isight) acting weird after installing updates.

    Hello all,
My iMac G5 has started acting very strange the last week or so. I had not used the computer in a while (I have a laptop as well) but started using it again about a month ago. Since the computer had been off for so long I went ahead and downloaded all the new updates. I updated the OS to 10.4.11, updated Firefox, updated to iTunes 8, etc.. Everything was working fine for a day or two, until I shutdown the computer (as opposed to having it sleep). When I turned it on the next day, iTunes acted as though I had never opened the program, walking me through setting up my library and everything. This happened EVERY TIME I opened iTunes, even if I had just added all my songs. I suspected it was because I had my music on a desktop harddrive, so I moved it and re-imported, but it still happened. Then, 4 days ago, things got worse.
I logged on to my computer and everything had changed. My dock moved to the bottom, resized itself, and all the programs I had on it were removed. It's basically reverted back to the original lineup (finder, dashboard, mail, safari, ichat, addressbook, iTunes, iphoto, imovie, a transparent question mark, ical, quicktime, etc). The files on my desktop were gone. And, again, when I opened iTunes it was as though it had never been opened. I reset everything to the way it was and then shutdown. But it all gets set back EVERY TIME. It's as though I've logged into a different user, but I'm the only user on the computer. It is getting kind of frustrating having to reset everything.
Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas what is wrong? How I can fix it?

    Thanks for your reply Miriam,
Before you replied I opened disk utility and ran the Varify permissions, which found several amiss and corrected them. Then upon restart all of my preferences (background, dock, screensaver, etc.) were intact, so that seems to have fixed that issue.
However, now I still cannot open Firefox at all. In addition to updating OS X, I recently updated Firefox, so I thought perhaps there was an incompatibility between the two. I went to Mozilla's website and searched their support. They recommended checking firewalls, etc...which I did, and in doing so noticed something else odd. Everytime I open the Network section a pop up opens stating that my network settings have been changed by another program. When I try to click OK, the window disappears and then reappears. Because of this I am unable to quit System Preferences and have to Force Quit.
Meanwhile, my laptop notified me that there were software updates and I installed them. I noticed that they were the same 2 updates I had just made on my desktop...a Security Update, and a Java update for 10.5+. After these installing these updates, Firefox will not open on my laptop either! Could it be the Java update causing the problem with Firefox? Also, why did my desktop (which is running 10.4.11) prompt me up download a Java update meant for 10.5 and up?
Now, I know this probably isn't a problem with my Mac hardware or software, and most likely it is an issue to take up with Firefox, but I would still appreciate any input you may have. At this point I would be willing to shine it on and just use Safari, except all of my bookmarks are in Firefox. I do have them backed up, so if there is a way to convert or copy the bookmarks to Safari that would be wonderful. Any ideas?

  • What freeware is best for making short iSight videos to be emailed.

I have iMovie HD but it says "No Camera Attached" when I click on "iSight" even though my iSight works fine in all other programs that use it.
I need to make <30 second videos with my iSight to email to a PC user who knows little about computers.
I don't need any bells and whistles, just the video with audio to make short clips showing the progress and operation of new product prototypes to my client.
I haven't found what I need in Google yet but still looking.

  • Select-option of a  variable is acting wierd in web report

    Hi,
I am getting the following error in web report when I click a select option button of variable. Has any of you come across this situation ?
Error:  <b>"System error in program CL_RSR_WWW_RENDERER and form GET_VARDEF_FOR_F4:03 (see long text)"</b>
    We are on BI 7.0.
The ABAP code in the above mentioned Class & method are in sync with a relevant OSS note 671405.
This is kind of wierd to me as it doesn't give any error when I run the same report in our QA Portal, It is happening only in our BW Production system.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    MG

The OSS note you specified is for 3.x and you mentioned you are on nw2004s.
Whats the Support pack you on currently.
I saw couple oss for SP-8 and 9 for the error you mentioned howver ,I presume you should be minimum on SP-10 ,so those may not help.
You may wish to take a look at OSS below-
Note 1018019 - Hierarchy node selection without hierarchy in web F4(7.X)
PS- As a part of sanity check if your QA and PROD are on same support pack.
    Hope it Helps

  • Firefox 4.0 acting wierd

I have a folder on my desktop I call this My Web Sites, in it I have websites I go to a lot ,But ever since I updated to Firefox 4.0 it works wierd, when I double click on My Web Sties folder it open,I double click on any of the web sites to open and I get a window up saying windows does not know this site, but after a few seconds it will ope to the site I want .This dont happen with the old Firefox only sinc I updated to firefox 4.0

    I found the problem.
The Smart Update on SpyWare Dr. had gone dumb. It was updating the virus database files - but, it had stopped updating the version of the application. As a result, My version # was 8.0.0.608 when it should have been 8.0.0.624. That far of a stretch with current database updates resulted in a psychosis that was hostile to almost all things FireFox.
After updating SpyWare, then updating the update, testing FF 4.0 RC1 in Safe-Mode and regular, rebooting - and, checking again = The FireFox 4.0 RC1 is working fine
