Tiger:  Lexmark Z35

I've recently installed Tiger 10.4.8. While I'm able to print, I'm not able to access 'Lexmark Z25-Z35 Utility.app', which would allow me to clean the print nozzles, align the cartridges, and print a test page. I tried downloading and installing the latest version of the Printer Driver from Lexmark and still I'm unable to access the utility.
Anyone have the same problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks!

I just checked and it does indeed say 'Lexmark Z25-Z35'. I tried deleting it and re-selecting it, but still I'm unable to access the utility.
Yesterday, I emailed Lexmark concerning this problem. In their reply, I was given instructions on how to 'manually' clean the print nozzles. So it looks like their latest version isn't fully compatible with Tiger. That's very disappointing. Anyway...
Thanks for your help, John! Much appreciated!
Cheers!

  • Unable to Add Lexmark Z35 Printer

The driver does not show up in the driver selection pull down menu, the computer was be able to detect the printer via USB but there is no correct driver for me to select. I tried to reinstall the driver sets from the Tiger DVD and it does not work, the driver still wasn't showing up in the pull down menu. I then tried to go to Lexmark's website and download the driver there but StuffIt Expander cannot open the HQX file, it gave me an error message saying the file is compressed differently.
    Any hints and/or tips?
    Thanks.

Since there is no edit options here, I just did a search and found out that all the non-modern drivers are not listed (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301175#lexmarkdrivers) in the pull down menu, however the note said "3. Drivers that are not denoted as Modern Drivers cannot be selected when adding an IP printer or Windows shared printer." This is neither an IP printer nor a Windows shared printer, the printer is directly connect to my MacBook's USB port.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
EDIT: Well apparently there is an edit option but I can't edit my original post for some reason.

  • Lexmark Z35 (usb) don't work?

    Hi all,
Printers USB don't work in the Tarantella EE 4?
    Thanks

    Hi Fernando
Whether a printer is USB, Parallel or Network isn't relevant at all. The
tarantella client makes whatever printer is available on the system visible
to the application, receives the print job itself and then uses system calls of
the client operating system to send the print job to the printer. The
client needs no knowledge of what type of device the printer receives
    information from.
If the printer is visible but not working it suggests a problem with the
print queue. If the printer isn't visible it probably isn't available
    for some reason.
The following may help troubleshoot the problem:
    http://www.tarantella.com/support/documentation/sgd/ee/4.1/help/en-us/base/standard/printing_problems.html

  • Network - Windows connecting to Mac printer.

I'm having trouble getting Windows XP to print to the Mac shared printer - It says its getting the drivers, and then the printer shows up in options, but when I print to it, the printer just never prints.
How do I get it to actually print?
    Brian

Well, I finally got everything working last night, thanks to (a) the wonderfully clear step-by-step directions by iFelix (although they should add a quick word about port :631); very helpful comments from this forum; and sheer persistance in dealing with Windows XP.
    Here's what I did wrong:
    1. Omitted and then mis-typed the port number after the IP address.
    2. Didn't check the signal strength of the 802.11g network (it was strong enough to see the Mac, but bizzarly not strong enough to see the printer attached to the Mac). Everything worked fine as soon as got an increased signal level.
    3. Didn't read far enough ahead in the instructions and downnloaded the drivers for the Lexmark Z35 instead of using the Apple drivers as recomended by iFelix.
    4. Forgot that under Windows you have to "Uninstall" - you can't just drag something into "Recycle" - so I couldn't understand for the longest time why XP kept finding the Lexmark drivers even after I'd emptied the Recycle bin.
Bottom line. "Thank you, iFelix" for your very detailed instructions. I only wish that Apple would make their own "Help" as clear and detailed.

  • 4 in 1 scanner  lexmark 2580 is it compatible mac os tiger

I recently bought with a 4 in 1 scanner lexmark 2580. I was able to install it. but when I used it it wont save the document that I scanned. Im just a new mac os tiger user. I bought it second hand or used. So i dont if it compatible to mac os tiger or I just dont know how o save it in mac. Im used to windows. pls tell me what to do. if it compatible or should I returned it. thanks.

Checking the lexmark web site I found this driver:
    http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:593:0:0&searchLa ng=en&os_group=Mac%20OS%20X&target=
Yes it is compatible. Choose the driver you need for your OS.

  • Tiger 10.4.3 and Lexmark X75 problems

Being a good Mac person I have been religious about updating my software as it becomes available. But somewhere I seem to have lost the ability to use my Lexmark printer utility. Everytime I try to load it, it crashes. I've generated many reports to Apple, downloaded the latest drivers, reinstalled the software after trashing everything "Lexmark" that I could find and still no luck. I don't know for sure when this happened because I don't use it all that often. But without it I can't align or clean the nozzles or even check ink supplies. I'm getting very frustrated and welcome any suggestions.
    PowerBook G4, 17 ,1 GHz PowerPC   Mac OS X (10.4)   Lexmark X75, 3 in 1 printer.

    Also having trouble here.
I tried installing from the original CD and from the latest drivers on their website.
The install will not complete, but the scanner does work after going through the install routine.
So, at this point everything works but the printer.
I didn't have any trouble with this printer on my rev. A iMac G5 with OS 10.4.0.
But, what a head-ache getting it to work on my new system with 10.4.3.
Well, at least the scanner works. The rest of the printer is garbage anyway. Good scanner though
I've always had trouble with this printer as a printer, so I've just been using it as a scanner anyway. The print cartridges dry up extremely fast, and they don't print many pages. So, with the high cost of keeping it supplied with ink, I just don't use it as a printer.
Interesting though that now I don't even have the option to try and print with it anymore. No Utility access to align the cartridges (utility just crashes as others said).
But, I have a nice over-sized bulky scanner
Here's hoping someone finds a solution....
    Edit:
I just stumbled onto this link about using the Print Utility under classic to get things going:

  • Upgrading to Tiger Installer problems

Ok, thanks in advance for giving a glance, and, Happiest of Holidays.
I did search and still doesn't fit my situation...
Upgrading to Tiger-retail box from OWC. I use an external partinioned 200g firewire drive as a B/U and bootable OS/software tester before installing on the Pismo. The drive has 10G space available on the bootable OS partion.
Start the Tiger DVD installer it begins and after installing Base System part 1 and moving to Running Installer Script the process stalls; doesn't crash - just stops: The FW drive stops blinking and the DVD stops spinning....
OK maybe i overlooked something etc... Have to erase the OS partition; clone 10.3.9 from the pismo to it and start again. This time do all the checks: Run disk utility, Tiger cache cleaner etc... all works well, even boot and work on the drive for a few days. Start the upgrade process again, stalls at the exact same place. I want to run Tiger on the FW drive prior to the Pismo to check it out and i don't relish the thought of having to start from scratch if problems occur installing on the Pismo....
This time i printed the log file which i include below.
I called OWC tech dept. - they said i probably don't have enough disk space for the process... the process told me it only required 3.5G. They didn't offer any further knowledge.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
    Peace

  • Unable to print to shared windows printer (lexmark)

My Windows printer is shared on the network through an XP machine. Other XP PCs can see and print fine to the printer , but not my OS X (tried it with tiger and Leopard). The printer is Lexmark P6250, and the mac driver for that printer works fine because the printer works fine when it is directly connected to my mac via USB.
When looking for the printer through my MAC OS X, it can locate the printer on the windows network , no problem, but when I try to print anything from the mac to the windows network printer, Mac os x returns a communication error indicating that it cannot communicate with the printer. I have all firewalls on my windows PC disabled , and port 139 is open.
Can anyone help in resolving this problem ?

That is a limitation of the Lexmark drivers. There are no network capable drivers for this Lexmark printer either from Lexmark or from the open source developers. You can, however, print to the printer on the Windows comptuers by using a redirected printer as outlined in the following web page

  • Tiger Update Crashes my Mac Mini Intel

I got a new Mac Mini and finally got it going though it was not easy to transfer from my eMac. But I prevailed. Then I made the fatal mistake of updating all that the Software Update software suggested. Now my brand new Mac Mini will not run at all.
REWIND: I tried to update my eMac a couple of weeks ago to Tiger. I did that and ran Software Update and GUESS WHAT? It crashed my eMac so badly I had to reinstall ALL the Panther software.
    Did Microsoft buy Apple???

I figured out the problem last night after a week of gnashing, grumping, and general anxiety. Hope this post helps others with a similar problem.
I have a free Lexmark 1150 All-In-One printer attached to my Mac. Apparently Tiger DOES NOT like the Lexmark application that turns off the printer during Restart and Shutdown. The application is in Library/Startupwhatever folder and I just trashed the Lexmarksleep..app (whatever it is named - I'm at work and cannot remember the exact name) and erased it.
Now my Mac Mini is back working like a Mac - PERFECT.

  • Lexmark X7550 Duplex printing

I have an all in one Lexmark X7550 printer. However under Leopard 10.5.4 I cannot get it to do duplex printing. I have checked all the options are correct for duplex printing in the print dialog box, yet it still does not do duplex printing. If I print a document from a Mac Mini running Tiger 10.4 to the same printer I can do duplex printing without a problem. I have downloaded the latest printer drivers from Lexmark's site. Anyone have any idea how to solve this issue? I connect to the printer wirelessly
    Many thanks
    Jon

Contact Lexmark's tech support. It's quite possible their driver does not work correctly in this version of OS X. You might try upgrading to 10.5.5. No guarantees.

  • Lexmark Optra T610: "Printer Not Responding"

Right. Where to start. Just got a new PB G4 17". Used to have a titanium G4 15" running 10.1 through 10.3. Now running 10.4.3 on this new 'book. I have a Lexmark Optra T610 with the USB option, which used to function just fine on the old computer but which is now making me want to toss gasoline and a lighted match on it. Basically, all the necessary software has been installed and the correct (ie, working) cable has been connected. The Printer Setup Utility sees and recognizes the printer, and I can select it in all the print dialogs, as well as change various settings such as resolution. However, when I press Print and the computer does its thing and sends the file to the printer, I get an error message saying "Printer Not Responding". This is driving me nuts and I can't find any word of this anywhere (mind you, I haven't come to the "end" of the internet yet, so maybe the answer is actually out there somewhere). And yes, I have tried doing strange things, such as deleting PPDs and preferences and so forth. I've also gone through all the menus on the printer until it's obvious I'm going in circles. It's like the printer has turned into a feline that simply ignores its master. GRRRR!!!! Thanks for any help you can provide. --Pete

I have had exactly the same problem from my iBook. Until I upgraded to Tiger all I had to do was plug in the USB cable and print. Now I get the "Printer Not Responding" message. I install the latest print driver for OS 10.4 from Lexmark and the computer lists the printer in the print dialog box.
I spoke with Apple tech support and he suggested resetting the printing system after reviewing what else I had done. Noting had worked and neither did this. The only other thing he could suggest was to contact Lexmark, if that didn't work he said we would have to try an archive and reinstall.
I really hope someone has a more constructive suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Edward

  • Custom re-install of Tiger

I have default installed Tiger on my iBook, although I have since used the Monolingual programme to free up space taken by additional languages.
How much space would I save by doing a 'custom' re-instal with the intent of stripping as much as possible out (eg drivers etc)?
Is this straight forward? What would I need to re-install in addition? All my third party applications?
I have no problems other than that I am running short of hardrive space.
I have an external firewire drive with a bootable clone of my drive (using Super Duper) as backup.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dunstan, there's no need to do a re-install to get rid of your unwanted printer drivers. Printer drivers are in the HD/Library/Printers folder. You can safely delete any named drivers that you don't have a printer for. For example, if you have a Canon, you can remove Epson, Lexmark, Hewlett Packard & Brother drivers. Epson alone takes up close to 1gb. You can even remove specific drivers from within the manufacturer's folder. For example, if you have an Epson C86 you can safely trash any other specific drivers in the Epson folder like C46, C66 etc. If, at a later date, you buy a printer whose driver you removed they can be added from your install disk, the disk that comes with the printer or downloaded.
(Sorry if any of that is too simplistic, it's a copy/paste from my standard reply to "How do I free up disk space" type questions).
The rest of the standard reply goes like this:
"For example, on my iBook, I have removed GarageBand from Applications and its Loops from HD/Library/Application Support or HD/Library/Audio. As my iBook only has a combo drive and I'm not into video editing anyway I have trashed iDVD & iMovie. (Not DVD player). I have also trashed preloaded games and World Book, and its associated files, again in Application Support.
Language support files can be removed using Monolingual. Do not remove any English language files, though. (Already dealt with.)
A word of warning: More cautious heads than mine advise against messing in the HD/Library, but if you stick to the examples above, i.e. GarageBand loops, World Book and printer drivers you will be OK.
Certainly, I have had no problems with my system after removing those examples.
Check, too, in your music folder. It is possible that you have, say, 'xyz song' in the first level of your Music folder and the same song in Music/iTunes/iTunes Library. If you are sure that you do have 'xyz song' in iTunes, it is safe to delete from 'Music'. The same principle can apply to your Pictures folder and iPhoto Library, but staying with iTunes for a moment, with iTunes open select Edit in the menu bar, then 'Show duplicate songs'. You can trash duplicates if you are sure that they are true duplicates, i.e. exact name, artist and file size.
Some excellent advice has been posted by ~JB~, with corresponding words of caution.
Dr Smoke has some advice here too.
Last but by no means least, when you have finished dumping your unwanted stuff in the trash, don't forget to empty it. You haven't regained the space until you do "
    Have fun!
    Adrian

  • Lexmark  4550 printer wont work on snow leopord 10.6

HI All i recently upgraded my os from tiger to snow leopord  and was trying to instail my lexmark x4550 wireless printer on my mac with OS 10.6.8  when instail my printer it says ..it has incounred and unexpected error and closed  i  i had no probs using the printer with tiger
i know its a lexmark driver issue  with Snow leopard  as others have had the same issues with it
does anyone know how to fix this issue
or Know if lexmark has released a software driver update for 10.6 that works
and where i can get it from if so
    thanks all Chuck

To correct the error in my name of your download I set out the corrected message:
    Hi
I have had a nightmare still unreolved to get your C734dw received today to work wirelssly with OS 10.6.8.
I have tried with your C734x download and Apple's C734_X download to no avail. I have taken the usual steps suchs as repairing permissions, shutting both devices down and restarting etc.  I am used to using my Mac and router with another wireless printer and know how to make the relevant setting. I have followed the Lexmark Wireless Setup Guide for OS 10.5 since there is not reference to 10.6 and in any event any differences are simple to resolve.
The Lexmark printer simply pauses without ever printing.  Is there a soluton please? If not it goes back to the retailer.
Is there no UK support helpline?

  • Lexmark C530 printing problem question

OK, I still haven't solved the various problems with printing from Leopard to my Lexmark C530dn but could anyone help me out with what is actually going on here? I've been round the houses so much I need some clarity. This is what I think I have discovered:
Apple bundled the driver for this printer with Leopard (it's in their list), though when you install the drivers a driver specifically for the c530 doesn't appear in the printer drivers folder. It does appear from System prefs (as driver 10.5.0.0). But it doesn't work, even though it was (presumably) specifically designed for Leopard. Nor is it mentioned on the Lexmark website that only mentions the old Tiger driver with a very different number, so you can't actually download this driver from Lexmark's website as it isn't there (nor indeed are any updates that might actually work).
The long and the short of this confusion is that no-one knows whether the bubdled driver was written by Lexmark or Apple and so no-one knows who is meant to be writing one that actually works (and presumably the one supplied was completely untested before being put on the Leopard disk).
Is this crazy or have I missed something somewhere? Any clarity will be most welcome (though a solution from Apple or Lexmark would be even better!).
    Thanks
    James

Apple bundled (and updated) a LM driver with 10.5. It doesn't work. LM has announced there are no drivers that support 10.5; they are starting to write them and they may be out in March '08.
There are some workarounds posted in other threads, but I'm not sure how well they work in all cases. My solution was to return my 5470 and get a Brother MFC240C

  • PLEASE HELP! Lexmark printer won't work!

I just upgraded to snow leopard today and I'm already having some big problems. The worst of them is that my Lexmark X1185 won't work anymore. It used to work fine in leopard, but since I upgraded, I can't scan, print or do anything else.
Here's what I tried to do to solve the problem:
    1. Tried to reinstall it from the manufacter CD (that didn't work cause snow leopard would crash every time I tried to open this CD).
2.Deleted the printer in "Print and Fax System" under system preferences, and then added my printer again (also didn't work).
    3. Tried to look for drivers (the latest driver to the Lexmark X1100 series, wich my printer belongs, was for Tiger. It also didn't work.
Also, when I turn on the computer, I get this error message: “/Library/StartupItems/LexSleeperX.app” has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I urgently need my printer....
Edit: I'm running 10.6.1, my Mac is an aluminum iMac, 2.4Ghz, 1Gb RAM

I have been experiencing the same issues printer there but no one home!
I have spent 6 (yes 6) hours on the phone to Lexmark today, they advised that it was due to the format of my Hard Disk not supporting their drivers. Apparently they do not support Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) which means I will need to reformat the hard disk correctly to not be Case Sensitive. Apparently this will affect any driver installed.
To find out if this is the case go FINDER > Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities (look bottom left FORMAT) I don't have any other solution to this. Spoke to Apple and they said if thats whats suggested by Lexmark then thats what needs to be done! Good Luck
