Tiger upgrade- wife cant open ical

Hi- I recently updated to tiger from panther, then updated to 10.4.2. Have been consist in running disk permissions. I have seperate user accounts for my wife and I (I'm the admin). Since updating to tiger, Ical bounce onces when she clicks on it and that's it- no flippy triangle. I checked get info from my side and it says
Owner/system- read & write
group/admin- read & write
others read only
Does my wife fall into the others group? I tried to change others to her login but it only reverts back to "others". I've deleted plists, reopened, but nothing.

My standard contrary position/experience: I have never reformatted a drive when doing Macintosh operating system upgrades. Not once.
I'd suggest you run every piece of diagnostic and repair software you have at your disposal and maybe check with the Tiger forum before you commit to a scorched earth reformat and reinstallation of everything. Incredible pain in the patootie.
BACK UP EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE. That means use a cloning application like CarbonCopyCloner (versiontracker.com) and NOT a simple backup app.

Cant open ical after doing program update

I recently did some updates on my computer. when to open Ical and this was my error message:
“Calendar Cache” could not be moved because you do not have appropriate access privileges for “Calendars”.
To view or change access privileges, select the item in Finder and choose File > Get Info.
It will not let me in or see any part of my calender. I have searched around my computer, but have no idea as to what the message wants me to do. Cant even tell you what version I have because it wont tell me anything. But my computer is about a year old.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Quit iCal and navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder, and find the "Calendar Cache" file. Drag that file to your trash and restart iCal.
The Calendar Cache file will be rebuilt and hopefully iCal will once again function properly.

Cant open ical to backup calendar

I had to reformat my computer due to an OS error. Luckily I backed up my whole HD on an extrernal drive before I reformatted. I need to know where the files that store all my ical info are located so I can somehow put them back into my new fresh calendar.
I didn't backup my calendars from ical, I just copyed my whole HD and need to know where the calendar files are normally stored.

In Tiger the calendar files are stored in folders in Library> Application Support> iCal. The name of the calendar is stored in the info.plist file and the actual data is stored in the corestorage.ics file.
I have an Applescript that makes a valid iCal backup file on your desktop from this. Copy and paste the blue text below into Script Editor (Applications>Applescript>Script Editor), press run and navigate to your old Application Support folder. You should then be able to choose File>Revert To Database Backup... from iCal and select the file on your Desktop.

Apple keeps books for a short time (used to be 40 days. I've not seen a recent time frame)
What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that

I've check iCal preferences and Help - can't find a way to stop this from happening automatically. Any Clues? Also, some of the events are already on my calendar and have been for quite some time.

What do you mean by "events to update"? Do you mean invites to new events or changes to existing invites?
Troubleshooting:
1. Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.7, 10.6.8 is the current version Apple > Software update.
2. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't use Phantasm or VectorScribe (or any Astute Graphics plugins for that matter). I do, however, have a Wacom tablet and have a few plugins that concern using Blurb Book Creator as well as LiveSurface Context.
I did the very unfortunate and foolish act of upgrading to Maverick without a backup, so postponing isn't an option for me.
I geuss my question at this point would be, would it be worthwhile to wipe all the adobe products from my harddrive and re-install them? Or would that be a useless endeavor.
I don't have an external hard-drive so backing up and re-installing the entire OS would be a bit much. Any suggestions?
