Tiger vs HP Officejet 6110

Since installing Tiger, I cannot print from Safari, Quicken or iCal. MS Word and Excel docs print just fine, so I know the signal is getting through.
When I try to print from Safari or Quicken, two or six or fifteen pieces of paper feed through with no printing, though now and then a half a line will print on a page or two. Then the print monitor shows the job is compete.
I checked page set up, repaired permissions, restarted, spent two hours manually uninstalling the HP driver files, downloading and installing the very latest new driver with HP tech support. To no avail. When HP said they had done all they could, I tried Apple tech support. They suggested I do a screen save, open the file in Preview and print from there. Aside from the fact that it's an unacceptably cumbersome workaround, it didn't work. Preview acted the same way. The next suggestion was to get a new printer.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestion.
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   HP Officejet 6110 All-in-one

I had a HP Photosmart 3310 with software issues. HP told me that they would refund me 75% of my purchase price or send me a new printer. The same on or a diffrent model equal to or greater then my purchase price. Ask to speak to their supivisor for a refund. They will then refer you to their tier three folk which are the ones who gave me the new printer. I got a 7410 and all but scan to OCR works.

  • Problems with HP PSC 2175 & HP OfficeJet 6110

I have been unable to get my HP PSC 2175 or OfficeJet 6110 All In One printers to work with my Airport Extreme base station. I have been trying to add the printers on a 12" G3 iBook and G5 iMac (with Panther OS) and a 14" G4 iBook (with Tiger). Neither one will work with the printers connected to the Airport Base Station.
The computers would not even recognize the HP PSC 2175 printer through Rendevous or Bonjour. We switched printers and have been trying the OfficeJet 6110, it is recognized in Rendevous on the G3 ibook and G5 iMac, but they will not add the printer because they cannot find the printer driver, even though I have installed the software for hte printer, and downloaded the newest driver. The 14" G4 iBook will also recognize the 6110 in Bonjour, and apparently finds the driver, but when you try to print, nothing happens... the print job keeps stopping, and will not print.
Any ideas on what the problem is or how to get these printers to work with the Airport Base Station... gosh this is frustrating! Hardly any printers seem to work with the Airport!

  • How can I use Active Print on my Ipad and print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one

I was previously able to use Active Print on my Ipod to print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one.  Now, however, with my Ipad version 2 I can no longer get this to work.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Hi,
HP do not provide any USB connection solution for iOS.
As Active Print is a 3rd party application which provide this functionality, i believe you may find a better help within Active Print support as they more familier with their application requirement and functionality:

  • Hp Officejet 6110 & Netgear wireless router

I picked up a Netgear 54 mbps WGPS606 wireless print server yesterday to handle the many mixed computers in my household. I want everything to print to my HP Officejet 6110. So far, my MacBook Pro (10.5.4) had no problem, neither did my wife's laptop with Vista, or my son's desktop with Vista 64. However, I have an older MAC (466 MHz PowerPC G4) running 10.4.11 that is having problems. Previously, the G4 was using the OfficeJet via USB cable. I go into the system preferences, choose print/fax, under printing click +, select LPD, add the ip address (the number is good, it works with the other 3 computers!) add L2 for the queue, but when I go to choose the printer under "print using" , the office jet 6110 does not appear as an option. Auto select just defaults to "Generic Postscript printer" (which does not work). I called Netgear support, and they said to contact Apple so they could show me how to open to the port #'s for the specific ip address.......I'm lost on that one! Any help would be appreciated!

I think it's rather that you need to update the Gimp-Print drivers (on 10.4.x) to the latest (now called Gutenprint):

  • Can HP SW supplied with Officejet 6110 be used with Rosetta to solve scanning problem

Snow Leopard will not recognize the HP Officejet 6110 AIO scanner. Apparently HP Director is not provided with the driver. Can this be rectified by loading the app from the disc supplied with the AIO with Rosetta in place?

HP Support indicates that the current driver is 1.2. When I got the new computer a few weeks ago I updated the driver for the 6110 to 1.2 so I should be current. HP Support indicates that scanning is not supported for this AIO.

  • Officejet 6110 slow printing

My really old (8 years) 6110 All In One has been working well until about two days ago. It started printing very slow, about 5-10 min. per page. It prints at this speed in all modes. It even prints slow on a test page from the printer menu. I have read in the forum that a bad print cartridge can cause this problem. When I turned on the printer this evening, there was an error code that says "remove and check print cartridge". I cleaned the cartridge contacts, but nothing changed. I have no spare cartridges to change out. I can't clear the error code to try a test page. I tried all the tips that I found on the forum, but no luck. Are there any other tricks that I can try? A new set of cartridges will cost me about $60.00. I can buy a new 6500A for $80.00, or an 8500 for $ 110.00. Is it worth wasting any more time on this, or is it time to replace the old printer?
    Thanks, BFK
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges. I do not recall if the Officejet 6110 will print in reserve mode, but try the following: Remove the black cartridge and print a test page.  Does the printer print at normal speed?  Is so the black cartridge was the issue and should be replaced.  If not then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge and print test page.  If the printer now prints normal speed the color cartridge was at fault and needs to be replaced.
Do you print a lot?  The 6500 and 8500 have  a separate ink supply and printhead.  They are most suitable for frequent printing.  If you only print occasionally the Officejet 6110 may be a better choice since it has less overhead for servicing.
If the printer will not print with one cartridge removed then I would replace the black cartridge with a #27, available for $20.  If this does not resolve the issue you could try the color #28 cartridge, about $26.

  • Using HP Officejet 6110 and Officejet 6500 wireless issues

I have been using an HP Offciejet 6110 printer for a long time with an HP laptop running WINXP. I purchased a new HP laptop running WIN7.  The WIN7 laptop will print to the 6110 in color only and doesn't allow the HP Imagimg Director software to work.
I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer and set that up to run off the HP laptop with WIN7 using the full software install.  That seems to be working OK.
I then setup theold  XP laptop using only the drivers for the Officejet 6500 so I could still use the Officejet 6110 from that computer and all the scanning and other features of the HP Imageing Director software.   But it appears that the Officejet 6500 drivers have scewed up the Officejet 6110 software drivers on the XP laptop. How do I get this computer back to using the 6110 as normal (which was very useful) but be able to use the 6500 as an optional printer without all the 6500 features?

    Hi dresdenron,
Thanks for clarifying the issue again. I was a bit confused.
How is the Officejet 6500 and Officejet 6110 setup on the Windows XP? (USB, Wireless)
Both models use completely different software. So there shouldn't be any interference even if the full software had been installed for the Officejet 6500. If both printers are connected by a USB cable, then the Officejet 6500 might have taken over the port and therefore causing the scan not to work.
What happens when you try to scan? (error message)
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Officejet 6110. This way it will be recognized on the new port assigned.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
HP Officejet and PSC Full Feature Software and Driver.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
The Officejet 6110 is a Windows Update for Windows 7. There is no HP Imaging Director software available to run on Windows 7. Installing the Printer Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection.

  • My OfficeJet 6110 will print (with errors) with Yosemite but will not scan

I just finished reading this entire thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/Mac-OS-10-10-Yosemite-and-HP-Printer-Support/...
I have rebooted the computer; repaired disk permissions; deleted and added the 6110 back; dowloaded the HP printer drivers and manually installed them; deleted printer and reinstalled printer drivers; repaired permissions again.
Almost everytime I print, the printer does not actuate and I get an "inkjet error." Then I just print again and it works fine. However, it will not scan and although it shows up in SystemPreferencec>Printers and Scanners, it does not show up in Image Capture or Preview>Import from Scanner.
I also have an Epson GT-S50 scanner. It scans perfectly without any problem.
I just changed machines to a new iMac from my earlier Mac Pro. The 6110 worked fine with the Mac Pro running Mavericks.
Here's the kicker: Although the scanner does not show up under ImageCapture or Preview or when R-clicking the installed printer window, it seems to work fine with the scanning software named VueScan. Under VueScan it shows up as an OfficeJet 6105 but seems to work ok.
I want to use the native scanning software, however.
I don't know what to do next.

  • Using Photosmart essential 3.5 with Windows 7 Officejet 6110

Hi, I installed Windows 7 without HP-Software and my printer prints well.
Now I will use HP-Printersoftware, but Image-Zone I can´nt install and Photosmart I can install, but the Programm doesn´t  find my printer, so Photosmart doesn´t work. I can start Photosmart essential, but a message said "HP Photosmart Essential doesn´t works".
Know somebody if it´s possible to work with Photosmart and Officejet 6110 in Windows 7.
    Thanks for your help

Hi - I can't find any information on Photosmart Essential being compatable with Win7, so I'm assuming it isn't.  However, it looks like there is a new software - Photo Creations that you can download as a replacement and it is compatable with Win7.

  • Cannot Print B&W on OfficeJet 6110 using Win 7/64 bit

Using OfficeJet 6110 working fine under Win XP.  Upgraded to new PC using Win7/64 bit.  As instructed by HP's web site, I did not install drivers from CD, but allowed Win7 to configure its drivers.  Printer is connected via USB to the PC.
Printer will only print in color.  When I change properties (either global properties or specific properties via application, e.g. Word) to designate print in black and white, the printer still prints in color.  This happens for all applications (word, excel, etc) and all documents.
The only way I have been able to force the printer to print in black and white is to remove the color cartridge.  However, if I do this, the copier functions of the printer become disabled even if I only want a B&W copy.

    Hi,
Please clarify your meaning "reinstalled" the printer - The driver for your printer already included within Windows7, any software you may use is not intended to Windows7.
May the stuck print job being printed upon restarting the PC?
If so, i would recomment you to try and disable the USB Ports power Management. It may cause connectivity issues with the LIDIL printing language being used by your printer:
    Right click on Computer.
    Click Manage.
Open the Device Manager from the left pane.
Locate the Universal Serial Bus Controller category, double click to expend it.
Locate the first USB Root Hub
Double click it, then click the Power Management tab.
Clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 for each USB Root Hub listed in the Device Manager.
Now follow and check for any improvement.
Please let me know of any progress,

  • Officejet 6110

I am in real trouble! My OJ 6110 is connected by USB to my Windows 8.1 desktop. That desktop is connected to a wireless router in my own private network (WORKGROUP). My Vista64 will not see the printer and asks for a user name and passowrd (which I never set up, I don't think). Anyway, if I hard plug the USB into the Vista, no problem, but coneecting to it on my wireless - no luck! Please help. Thanks.

    Hi there,
I understand you're having some issues with your Officejet 6110 printer. I'd like to do my best to help you with this.
I just need to ask a few questions.
Are you just trying to use printer sharing between the 8.1 and Vista machines?
Do you have all of the administrative rights for your workgroup?
Does the printer work on just the Windows 8.1 machine? (I ask this because there were no drivers on HP's website for this printer for Windows 8 or 8.1)
I've done a bit of research still, and was able to locate this document that explains how to make sure everything is enabled for printer sharing.
Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • Officejet 6110 and Windows Vista lost communication

I have used this printer with this computer for years.  It is an HP Officejet 6110 and Windows Vista.  No problems and prints all the time using the built in driver that came with Vista.  We powered the computer and the printer down.  Moved them to the other wall, 6 feet.  Plugged them back in, excatly, all same ports and cords, and when you print the spooler shows "Print - Error".  Only message and no more details.  Thought maybe cable for printer bad but tried one form a different computer and same thing.  Uninstalled printer and when rebooted Windows did not see it to Auto install.  Told Windows to search for new hardware and it found nothing.  Turned printer off and tried reboot and still nothing.  Tried manually adding and choosing old port, and nothing.  Looked all over web and did not see solution. Went in to safe mode and printer not listed.  Where can we go to completely remove printer so Windows will find new hardware and reinstall properly?

    Hi RFG1022,
Thanks for getting back to me with the printer information.  Much appreciated.
What I would like to do is go step by step through a series of troubleshooting steps with you.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
The next step would be to remove the usb cable from the printer and from the computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
Please click on the following link for Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer so the changes take affect.
When the computer is back up and running, disable any firewalls or anti virus protection you may have running so that we don't have any conflicts with the reinstall.
The next link is for the HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Save the file the desktop so that it creates its own icon. Double click the new icon and follow the instructions. The install will prompt you as to when to connect the usb cable or wireless option so please do not connect the usb until asked to do so.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

  • Hp officejet 6110 all in one printer wont work!!!! i need help!!!!!!!!

i turn on my printer and it says that i need to remove and check my cartridges. i did that a million times and it still says that same message. i dont know what else to do. any suggestions??? also, i dont know where to get a connection for my labtop to connect to my printer. where can i get it???

    Hi,
There is not a scan driver for the 6100 for 10.6/10.7. The product was released in 2004, and reached end of life in 2008 (a year before 10.6 was released). Chances are that a driver will not be written for this product.
I don't have a 6110 here that I can test with, so all I can offer are steps that I would try given the opportunity.
One thing I noticed from your response on trying the 6210 driver was that the product (in the queue) was still showing as the 6110. I am curious as to how you went about installing using the 6210 driver. I can only think of two scenarios off the top of my head:
    1) You had the 6110 installed, went to options and supplies, to the driver tab, and specified the new driver.
    2) You had no products installed, and when you went to add, you specified the 6210 driver in the Print Using box prior to clicking add.
The option that is more likely to provide the scan option is option 2, so if you haven't tried it, I would encourage you to do so. If that doesn't work, try other Officejet All in one drivers, or consider upgrading if none of the above will get it to work.
I understand that the lack of a full feature driver is frustrating, but most (if not all) companies have dates in place to cut off development/support for their products. A similar scenario is the Netgear FA311 Network Interface Card. I remember using one of these cards back in 2000/2001, but if I wanted a windows vista 64-bit driver i'd be out of luck. I'd likely end up using a realtek driver (per a forum post suggestion) and see if it would work, and hope for the best.
Best of luck, I hope option 2 (if not already attempted) gets it working for you.

  • Officejet 6110 shared network from a Netgear Ready NAS unit

Dear HP Team & HP friends,
I bought a ReadyNAS unit from Netgear. Their compatibility list says the Officejet 5000 and 7000 series work with this unit. Do I believe the 6000 serie also. And it does as when I plug it it comes up as a shared printer form that unit on the network and the name is also correct.
However to use it from any computer I need to install the driver for that shared printer.
As I'm using XP Pro I ask to add network printer then comes to install the driver and cannot. So I chose to install manually and then go to chose it form the list = it does not exist !
So chose to browse and go to the latest driver from HP, but not sure which one to chose.
So tried all of the .inf drivers of that folder, but none worked.
Anyone has the right driver I could install manually to manage to share this printer form the Readynas unit ?
Or how have you manage to overcome this problem ? (for those who solved this already).
    Thank you for your help.
