Tile Folder background

I'd like to tile a background image for certain folders. I have a small pixel pattern of 20x20 that I would like to tile the whole folder background. Right now, all I see is the image in the upper right hand corner.
I don't see an option to tile. Anyone know if this is possible?
Suzy

definitely not possible. You can request this feature at [OS X feedback|http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html].

  • Folder background color changes by it'self

    I have picture folders that seem corrupted. First I will start off by saying my home folder is set to have a background color "Nice light green" instead of the brilliant white. The home folder is set for this color to apply to all folders and my icon setting is at 64.
    I like to modify my picture folders by choosing "show view options" from the drop down menu on the opened folder then making the icons larger so it is easier to see the thumbnails of the pictures in that folder. So far so good. The light green should still apply, right. Well when I open those folders again the background color is always different, usually purple. I always set the preference "for this folder only" but the problem seems not to go away. If I set the picture folder to "all windows" the green background comes back but my icons are small again.
    I also tried making a new folder and copying the pictures to it and deleting the so called corrupted one but it still does it. I think it is a bug in the OS myself.
    Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Glenn

    In my last post I stated "I found a work around for this but does not fix the actual problem.
    Open the folder(s) you want to have larger preview icons in and choose picture for background color instead of color. I made a small 640 x 480 solid color .jpg (a nice soft green) that matches the rest of my folder backgrounds for my main folder. Each time I had to tell the folder preferences twice to choose the picture then after closing the folder preference and folder it was good the next time I opened it. Now I can open picture folders with a large icon setting so it is easy to preview them and not have to look at some horrible purple background or some other extreme color."
    The only problem is that if the folder is open larger than the image assigned to it OS X does not stretch it so you see your main color scheme. I tried to match them with little luck on perfection so I came up with this and it seems better.
    Another way is to make a .jpg as small as possible. I made one about one pixel but OSX sees it as a picture. You can those choose to use the ultra small picture in the folders and this way OS X will default to the main color scheme anywhere outside the one pixel or so and this will allow you to have some folders with larger icons for picture preview and not have those crazy colors.

  • How can I use an image as a folder background on icon

    vista updated firefox - how can I use an image as a folder background for an icon of that folder (for desktop)

    This is not a Firefox related issue or Firefox setting etc. This is a windows or OS setting, I provided the link below on how to change this in Windows Vista.

  • Tile finder background

    In previous versions of os x I have been able to edit the "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist" file to make finder background tiling possible, but since getting tiger I have been unable to find the correct line in the file since it is pretty much a jumble of symbols. Is there a way to decode these symbols or another way to tile finder background images? Thanks.

    This is because Panther used plain XML files however Tiger encodes the XML into binary (because it's faster to read).
    You need Property List Editor, which is part of the developer tools. If you're confident in OS X and know the line exactly, you could write to it via the Terminal instead of using PLE.
    If you want a third party solution, PListEdit Pro is a quick alternative.

  • How can I customize the folder - Background (i.e. transparent) of my 5s WITHOUT a jailbreak ?

    How can I customize the folder - Background (i.e. transparent) of my 5s WITHOUT a jailbreak ?

    You can't do any more than what is permitted in Settings regarding the backgrounds. If you would actually JB your phone for something so trivial, risking virus and worm attacks, violating your license agreement, voiding your warranty, risking bricking your phone or making it unstable and excluding any paid repair service from Apple I question your judgement.

  • 10.9.4 no folder background change, its greyed out

    10.9.4 no folder background change, its greyed out since I updated. both computers i can't change the folder back ground color
    Thank You
    Dick

    I figured it out. Under the folder actions/arange by: I changed to NONE and this allowed me to change the background color. It appeared after I did the update the Arange BY was changed.
    I personally don't care for the white backround and a light grey is easier on the eyes. I wish that the background color be change dglobally for all folders no matter what the arange would be. Te ac only allows this on folders with icons.
    Thank you for the response.

  • Folder Background Picture

    Okay, I was changing stuff around today, and I realized I like using a picture as the folder window background, the problem is, the picture doesn't carry all the way through. Once it ends, it ends. Which is kind of stupid to see a cool picture, then whiteness. I figured it would tile or something. Is there any way to make it tile?
    Thanks.

    Hi Totalimmortal
    You can increase the size of the image with Photoshop, if you have it.

  • Folder background color won't stay

    Help would definitely be appreciated for this one. It's frustrating. I want the backgrounds of my folders to be different colors, simply for the look, but every time I change the color and leave the folder - I will come back to that folder and it will have a different color applied. Any ideas what's causing this or how to control it?

    for my part, i can say : yes. all folders for which the background color is set.
    closing and reopening switches color.
    switching from "this window" to "all windows" and back also triggers the alternation of colors in the "this window" mode.
    steps :
    - create folder
    - open it
    - set icon view
    - set color background for "this window"
    - close it
    - open it again
    or, after setting color background:
    - switch to "all windows"
    - switch to "this window"
    ...while doing this you may withness another strange behavior: each time the folder window opens, its position is offseted right and down, until it goes back to its intial position and the cycle starts over.

  • White Application Folder Background

    Hello, I just recently recieved my first blackberry, BB Curve 8330. For some reason, when I changed the wallpaper for the home screen, the background for the application folder turned white (dont remeber when it actually happened, but it doesnt happen immediately after applying the wallpaper, probably after a reset). Reseting the theme to defaults fixes the problem. The same happened to another person that I know that recently recieved a BB Curve 8330. Any ideas on how to avoid this?
    Edit: This is what I'm talking about:

    Anybody know a solution to this? I can confirm that the background turns white after a reset only after applying a wallpaper. This has occurred in three different blackberry curve 8330s... Is this normal? The white background is pretty ugly... Look at the picture to see what I am referring to.

  • Folder background colors & System Profiler?

    I just installed Lion (10.7.4) yesterday and have a couple problems. First, there is a question mark in my dock for the System Profiler which used to be there and I can't find it in the application folder anymore. Also, the colored background of various data folders I created turn white when the files inside are sorted and the "background chooser" in "view options" won't change it back again. I used colored backgrounds in folders to help in organizing data files. Is there any way to get back control of this?

    On the background chooser issue, it looks like it only works in icon view.
    Change a window’s background
    You can use a color or photo as the background of a Finder window.
    Open the window and choose View > As Icons.
    Pictures and colored backgrounds are visible only when items in a window are viewed as icons.
    Choose View > Show View Options.
    Under Background, select either Color or Picture.
    Color: Click the color box and select a background color.
    Picture: Click Select and choose the picture you want to use.
    White: Return the background to normal.
    To have every Finder window on your computer use this color or picture as its background, click “Use as Defaults.”
    To reverse your changes, press the Option key and click “Restore to Defaults.”
    Note: The “Use as Defaults” and “Restore to Defaults” buttons do not appear if you’re adjusting icons for the desktop or for the “All My Files” and “All My Applications” folders.

  • Tile Desktop Background

    I cannot seem to get my pictures to be tiled on my desktop. If I have a 1944x2592 jpeg, is it possible to tile this size picture?

    Well, as far as I know, you can only tile if the picture is of a lower resolution than your screen. The picture you describe is much larger and probably will not tile.

  • Tile background in html not working

    I've been editing my html using dreamweaver to tile the background of my webpage.
    <style type="text/css" media="screen">
                html, body  { height:100%; }
                body {
                          margin: 0px;
                                            padding: 0px;

                                            background-repeat: repeat-x;
                object:focus { outline:none; }
                #flashContent { display:none; }
            </style>
    Saved changes, republish, but still it doesn't work. When I run the website, It only shows the artboard I made in flash catalyst, no backgrounds.
    Any ideas? I really need some help. Thanks!

    Acutally, what is happening is the Flash content is filling up the browser, thus not showing your tiled image. Change this
    swfobject.embedSWF(
                    "Main.swf", "flashContent",
                    "100%", "100%", ...
    to
    swfobject.embedSWF(
                    "Main.swf", "flashContent",
                    "1024", "768",...
    and the two <object> references
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="100%" height="100%" id="Main"
    to
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="1024" height="768" id="Main"
    and
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="Main.swf" width="100%" height="100%">
    to
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="Main.swf" width="1024" height="768">
    That should do the trick.

    If it was missing, please consider a clean reinstall: Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
    '''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
    #Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    #After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    #Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    #*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    #*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
    #Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    ##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    ##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
    More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
    <b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
    Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.
