Tile Function in LR ... Printing Large Photos

I have a 360 degree photo, stitched, from the top of Mt St Helens. I'm trying to figure out how to break it up into six pictures so I can frame each. It would be nice to have this feature in LR.
Can someone point me to a program / feature to help me with this task?
Thanks

Lightroom can do this if the image is small enough to be opened in LR. You could make 6 Virtual Copies, cropping each one to 1/6 size, with or without overlap, and print from there.
Size is dependent on number of horizontal pixels (for normal panos).

    Hi,
Which operating system and printer? It sounds like you need to set the print preferences for the printer. If you are in Windows, right click on the printer icon in the printers folder and select printing preferences. Within that menu you can specify size and tray options . Also make sure that the application you are printing from mirros the correct size and tray settings.

  • Error printing large photo to HP Officejet K8600 when using PSE7

I am running PSE7 on a Toshiba laptop using XP home SP3.  I have 1.5 gb of memory.  I have a large color photo scanned in that is 14x10.  I tried printing it out using MS Office Picture manager and HP photo essentials.  Neither program would allow for the custom size photo on the 13x19 paper that I have.  The best they could do was make the photo larger to fit the paper which made the picture slightly fuzzy.  So I purchased PSE7 thinking that this good product would allow custom print sizes.
The page setup and print commands seem to do everything I want.  The print screen shows how the picture should look centered on the larger paper. When I send it to print with the print spooler on the 277 mb photo goes completely to the spooler without going to the printer.  After waiting a short while it sends a second copy of the photo to the print spooler and even though the print documents window only shows one document it shows 2/1 in the page column and robs another 277 mb of memory.  This continues indefinitely without ever printing.  I stop it when it gets to the sixth send (6/1) and is now using of 2 gb forcing the computer into virtual memory.
I decided to eliminate spooling and send directly to the printer without spooling.  It almost worked but, but half way through the print a 1 1/2 inch wide blank stripe the full height of the picture (10") is in the middle of the picture (in other words:  that part of the picture is missing).  I tried a second time thinking maybe there was a memory hiccup.  The second time the first quarter of the picture is cut off and there is a 3/4" wide stripe in what would have been the middle.
The picture prints out using other programs just not in the custom size.  Of course, HP support tells me it is an Adobe problem and since it doesn't occur with other programs I tend to agree.  One final note:  When the picture goes to print it tells me that certain postscript commands will be stript out since the printer does not support postscript.
Has anyone had success printing large pictures to the HP Officejet K8600?

  • Advice on printing large photos?

I have a Canon PowerShot SD400 Digital Elph camera. As far as I can tell, the largest it can take is 2592 x 1944, which shows up as 180 dpi when I open it in Photoshop. Based on this, I think that the largest standard size I can order is 10" x 8" through iPhoto, but I'd really like to be able to produce some much larger prints of my photos to hang on the wall - more like posters than snapshots.
Any advice on how large I can safely print?
Also, is it possible to produce more than 180 dpi prints with this 5 megapixel camera?
(Please excuse me if this is a duplicate question - I tried to post it last night, but it hasn't shown up in the bulletin board so far.)
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   iPhoto 6

Each camera generated file has a fixed amount of pixels. In you case 2592 x 1944. If you print at 4 x 6 you'll be at approx. 430 dpi. Going up to 20 x 30 you can achieve only about 86 dpi. Not very good. But in PS if you go into the Image->Image size menu and increase one of the dimensions in the document size section, PS will resize the document at the same dpi as the original. So going up to 30 x 22 (un-cropped), using the
Bicubic resample option you'll get pixel dimensions of 5400 x 4050.
On the screen it looks pretty good but I've not gone ahead and had a really large print, like 20 x 30, made so can't comment on the resulting quality.

  • TC problem printing large photos

I have a canon mp530 hooked up to the usb port on my 1gig TC. It prints documents fine, but whenever I send a picture file to be printed, it begins to print but stops just a few seconds into it. After a while, the printer just ejects the unfinished document. I tried hooking up my computer via ethernet to see if it was a speed issue as the picture is rather large, but the same problem occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my Canon MP830.
Direct USB works fine, but printing thru AEBS, large document just stops.

  • Print large photo in several sections

How can you print a 16X20 inch photograph with one fourth of the photograph on each of four 8X10 inch photo paper? When complete and alined the full photograph will be shown

Click the crop tool, then in the upper right hand corner, set your width and height for 8x10. Then save each piece that you crop and print them all out.

  • How do I get multiple tiles to appear on my large piece for printing?

Hi, I'm working in Illustrator 6. I've got a large piece that I'd like to print onto several 11x17 sheets. When I select Veiw---Show Print TIling, only one tile appears. I expect there to be enough tiles to cover the entire piece and be numbered for me? Where are they? How do I get them to appear?
Then when I go to Print the tile option in the print dialog is greyed out.
I know I've done this before in earlier versions.
    Can you please help me?

You can see a tile view in the preview section of Illustrator Print dialog.
Choose a printer of your choice and then under the Media Size select 11x17.
Under Scaling: Tile Full pages and Scale them to any level that suits your preview and thus the output.

  • Epson Stylus Photo R2400 won't print large pages?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard. I immediately had problems with printing to my Epson Stylus Photo R2400 as a print driver gutenprint had suddenly replace my Epson driver when going thu dialog to print. Called and Epson and they got me thru process of getting rid of the newly replaced gutenprint to an Epson driver. Problem is I can't print anything larger than an 8.5x11 page. The printer set up says and shows me that what I have set as an 11x17 or 13x19 is going to print. But all that prints on this large expensive paper is an area 8.5x8.5. No matter what I change in set up. Epson says they have done all they can do. (And I just found out last week they have replaced this printer with another printer). I have hundreds of dollars in newly purchased inks and I am wasting expensive paper.
Also I had to remove the patch for OS leopard to get the printer to work in this diminished capacity.
And my email signature disappeared. Can't get that back either.
But printer is my biggest problem. Any suggestions how to get this printer to work with this new OS leopard and print large sizes? I have deadlines and hate to outsource the printing when I could easily do it in house.

Well, you picked the very hardest way to do it, and as time goes on, you will probably discover many other things wrong with your system as well. You CANNOT go back to Tiger from Leopard via an archive and install; you have to wipe the drive and start over from scratch, and then transfer all your data over from a backup and reinstall most, if not all, of your applications so the right elements are in the right places. Even so you'll never get your system exactly back to where it was, unless you had a perfect bootable Tiger backup (via SuperDuper) and merely restored from that. Obviously whatever Leopard element that killed your printing capability is still on your frankenstein system of BOTH Tiger and Leopard parts.
There are hundreds of posts on the issue of reverting to Tiger from Leopard, many quite detailed. So many things are changed from upgrading from one to the other that what you attempted (unless you completely wiped the drive and all your data) has always proven disastrous, which is why I highly recommended against it after reading hundreds of horror stories here.
I suggest doing a search at downgrading from Leopard to Tiger, following those instructions if you can, and making the best of it. You'll find that springing the $200 for an external drive would have been a much better and easier solution, because it can come in very handy if you ever need to do any maintenance on your internal hard drive, or if some update or problems kill your internal drive and you can't even boot the system. Not to mention sooner or later always needing more storage capability, and even a drive for reliable backups.
I would never dream of attempting a downgrade or needing to do it in the first place (having taken precautions as to never have to), so I can't give you any further advice than that.

  • Printing multiple photos on single A4 page

With my previous version of iPhoto, there was an 'N-up' printing option that allowed printing 2, 4, 6, or 9 photos on one A4 sheet, without borders. That was perfect for printing A4 sheets for a hard copy photo album. With iPhoto '09, there is no N-up function.
How can I print six (as large as possible, with no borders or text) photos on one A4 page?
Thank you for your assistance, Isshi.

it is not possible as far as I have determined to print n-up with no white space between photos with iPhoto '09
To print n-up select the photos and click print, select the printer, paper size and print size (you will have to experiment to find what you want for this)(note that is the size is not the same ratio - typically 4:3 for point and shoot digital cameras and 3:2 for DSLRs - as the photos you must either crop the photos to the correct ratio prior to printing or the computer will crop for you - often not where you would choose)
Then click customize and click on the setting button in the tool bar at the bottom - select print multiple photos per page - the preview will reflect what will print
If you are happy click print again, select any printer specific options and click print to print the page

I am new to macs, and I can't figure out (using iphoto 11) how to just print multiple photos on one piece of 8 1/2 X 11 paper in my own printer at home. I want to choose the size of each picture (like one 4X6 and two wallets on one page. How do I do this? it seems I can only print one pic per page when I use the print function in iphoto. Please help! • Print multiple photos on 1 sheet

I am trying to print 4 photos on a single 5x7 photo sheet. Print Package seems to be totally unusable.
I select 3 photos and can't position them on the screen
I select a 4th photo and it positions it on a 2nd sheet
I can't resize a photo by clicking the image and adjusting the size (like most other windows packages)
If I move a photo it seems to change format from landscape to portrait
I set Printer settings to 5x7 Glossy but whatever option I chose in 'Select a Layout' gives me a message saying The layout selected is larger than paper size - eventhough they're both set to 5x7.
If I select a photo and try and move it, it just duplicates the image somewhere else on the print page - and doesn't let me delete it or undo
I have selected 5x7 paper size and Layout 5x7 (4) but the review screen still doesn't show 4 photos positioned logically.
This task should take 5 minutes - I am now quitting after nearly 2 hours - which included reading many community issues of people trying to do this simple task and clearly having the same problems I have.

This seems like a flaw in the program.  In a good tool you could just print the four 5x7's and not have to mess with this garbage.  Are you listening Adobe?????
I really don't like to see this thread degenerate into an exercise in polemics. PSE has a picture package layout, but the default is limited. However, it is relatively easy to tailor additional layouts to one's needs. You will find instructions in this thread:

  • Help please:  Large photos do not appear in album...

I am having difficulty viewing the large photos in iphoto. All of the photos appear in the "thumbnail size", but when i want to view them "screen size", only the small size photos appear - when i try to view a larger photo, nothing but white screen...is there a "blanket approach" i can apply that wil let me view all my photos? i have about 4000 photos scanned, large and small.
    Thank you in advance.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How can I create only thumbnails photo page without larger photo

Is there a way to create photo page without the larger photo?

I wonder if you can use a photo template page to drop your photos into and then just leave off the slideshow button. I wonder if that will disable the click to enlarge photo function or if it just affects the slideshow stuff.
Otherwise, you could manually make your thumbnails page...like a contact sheet.
    1. Use something like iPhoto to export photos scaled down to thumbnail size, like 100x133, into a folder on the desktop
    2. Drag and drop thumbnails from this folder into iWeb using blank template page.
    3. select all the thumbnails, open up the Inspector ruler tab, click on "Use orignal size".
    4. Arrange thumbnails in desired order and position on page.
This is a complete manual job. I don't know if there is any other way besides disabling the slideshow function. I would probably live with the "click to enlarge" function over making a contact sheet by hand.

  • How can you tell photo quality is good for large photo books

I want to make a large photo book (13 X 10) and I have a good quality camera, but how do I tell the photos are good enough to blow up to that size.

I want to make a large photo book (13 X 10) and I have a good quality camera, but how do I tell the photos are good enough to blow up to that size
With a bit of arithmetic. Check the pixel size of your photos.
To print a good quality book you will need at least 200 pixels per inch to get the necessary dpi in the printout.
    So your photos should have a pixel size of  at least 13 x 200 by 10 x 200 = 2600 x 2000 pixels.
Check the Info panel for the pixel sizes of your selected photos.
