Tile Printing / Tiling Large Poster

I did not see this as a feature in the print module lr2 where you can tile a large image to print in smaller pieces then cut and tape together a large poster.

You can't in Pages. What you can do is creating a larger paper size, the size you want for the poster, in the File > Page Setup > Paper size > Manage Custom Sizes
Create your poster and save it. Then Print to PDF.
Get the application (free) Tiler or Paster Razor which can split the PDF when printing on you home printer.

  • Printing a large poster in pages

I would like to take a pages doc and print to poster size utilizing 8.5" x 11" paper, that I could tape together to post on an easel. Is it possible?

Thank you, thank you for the help from Monique, an Apple Education contact, for the answer to this problem.
    To print a large poster.
    1. Save your Pages file as a PDF.
    2. Open file in a program that will open PDF files and let you convert them to JPEG. I used GIMP.
    3. Use the program PoseRazor. This will let you drop the JPEG file in, and allows you to print the poster in sections, and then paste together.
    Hope this helps.

  • My illustrator crashes when I try to tile print

This seems to be a simple function, yet illustrator hangs for me while trying to tile print a larger document on 8.5x14 paper on my Canon inkjet. Is this something anyone else has experienced? I remember doing this 20 years ago and it worked fine. Maybe adobe used to test their software better back then.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact printer model, print settings and so on.

  • Any way to print a large page through tile printing?

I have a PDF with dimensions larger than 8.5x11. When I try to print it will only print the center of the page. Is there any way to get it to print on multiple pages (tile printing)?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Ok, I did some digging on my own and here is what I found:
first is an app you have to pay for: *+Poster Print+*
    http://www.luxordevelopment.ch/posterprint/
it cost about $20 and allows you to organize images and PDFs for tile printing. If you want to do a lot of tile printing it would be wroth the price, I guess.
second is a free option: PosteRazor
    http://posterazor.com/
It is free. It does not import PDFs (so you will have to save them as images), but what's nice is that it will save your tiled image as a multipage PDF for easy printing.
If anyone has anything better I'd love to hear it.

  • Exporting An iPhoto To Make A LARGE Poster Print

After a bit of work on my photo in Iphoto, I want to get it printed as a poster 30 inches wide by 20 inches tall.
I have read through heaps of FAQs about pix and DPI ... being an old newspaper & magazine man I am fully conversant with Dots Per Inch, but that has little relevance today.
What is the 'best / most efficient' way to export the photo so I can take it to a professional print shop and achieve a pin-sharp poster that looks like it's been taken by an expert?
Specific settings ( Jpeg / TIF ) (Custom ????? px ) would be appreciated.

The easiest method would just to use the Apple online photo service. No exporting required... just select the pict, choose the 20x30 size, and the picture is uploaded.
As for best quality, as already stated, if your original image is a JPG, then all you can do is send the highest rez of that jpg. If you will be doing more posters in the future, you can set your camera to take those picts in raw and then import that raw into iPhoto.
An important point here is that a poster will not be viewed (by the human eye) at close range like a photo, so the dpi can be lower than a normal photo, and it will look just fine from 5ft away.
Again, the painless way to handle this is just to send the highest rez image you have to Apple/Kodak via the built in service in iPhoto. Your poster arrives at your door in a week.

  • Tile printing, please help!

I'm trying to print an image and am using Illustrator for it's tile print tool. I'm using A3 13x19 paper, tried to use as much out of 4 sheets as possible, but had some of the image chopped and looking for a way to print just the missing parts in 2 sections, hopefully only using 1 sheet of paper and then cutting it out.
So, I've printed (really expensive) 4 sheets, but have that middle part cropped out. Can I isolate that part, print in the same scale so I end up with 4 large prints, and 2 small strips in between? Thanks for any suggestions!

It looks like the full width of the image will fit in the height of the paper. Rotate the paper in the Media section (above Options, where you have Tiling turned on) and turn off Tiling. Drag the image in the preview window until it’s positioned as you want it.
Next time, use an overlap value higher than 0. Your image will not print on four sheets positioned as you have shown it, but it may fit on four, or even three, sheets rotated.

  • The best way to print a small poster?

I am a hobby user (Illy CS3) and don't have access to a printer to print anything larger than DIN A4 and I need to make a small poster.  I've made a collage as a gift consisting of photos of friends with their well-wishes in speech bubbles.   I was thinking of exporting it as a .jpg file and uploading it to an online photo service to have it printed.  If I make the artboard the size of the finished poster (e.g. 50 cm x 75 cm) will this work ok?  If so, do you have any tips on the settings I should use when making the .jpg file?  Or should I do something else altogether?
I would appreciate any advice you have to offer.
    Thanks
Updated:  the collage was done in CS4 on my daughter's computer, but whether CS3 or CS4 probably doesn't make any difference.

A large size photo print will be expensive. Better to use a quick copy centre like Kinkos. Call digital print shops in your area and find out how large then can print. For not much more than a couple of bucks you should easily find 11×17 or 12×18. Even larger shouldn't set you back as much as ten bucks.
Whatever size you decide on, set up your document to that size and scale all artwork. The finished, scaled resolution of any imported images should be 200 pixels per inch or better for best results. Use File > Save a Copy to save a PDF as Press Quality. Turn off Include Illustrator Editing Capability.

  • Print too large Deskjet 3510

Lately whenever I print anything it is printing too large - margins are off page. I have done the align printer and cannot find anything in settings of the printer to set this to where it prints the correct size - it is not set to landscape and is set to portrait so I do not understand why it is printing like landscape. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum. Most of the time, the size of the font -- the margins, the scale -- and the "whole general page" that you are printing is handled in the application you are using at the time you are setting up the print job. In most browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer), document editors (Word, Libre), and PDF Readers (Adobe Reader and Foxit), this "setup" is handled a program or subroutine called Print Preview. You (that is, the print job) can get into trouble when the Page Scale does not match the paper -- perhaps the margins are not (and should be) set "Fit to Page". The font sizes can be too tiny -- or too large -- for similar reasons, although it can become somewhat more complicated than that. It is also true that some documents and Web Pages are better printed in Landscape mode than in Portrait -- and it is not always clear by glancing at the Page which is best. You might take a look at the following and see if the explanations and examples can help you sort what is going on in your situation: Manage Print Output with Print Preview When you see a Post that helps you,Inspires you, provides fresh insight,Or teaches you something new,Click the "Thumbs Up" on that Post. Click my Answer Accept as Solution to help others find Answers.

  • How do you change the page format to print a larger area?

Hi there, another new to mac and new to numbers guy.
I'm trying to find the windows equivalent to change page format.
I want to reduce the blank border surrounding my table and print a larger area. How do you reduce the blank border that prevents you from printing up to the paper edge?
    cheers

Page margns in Numbers are set in the Layout Inspector.
Open the Inspector and click the Layout button.
Edit the four margin settings as you wish. Reduce the (page) header and footer settings to zero if you don't want to include running headers or footers on your pages.
Note that margins will be limited by the capabilities/settings of your printer. Printing to the edges of the paper usually requires a choice to be made in the Print dialogue as well as for the document itself.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Using Aperture, I printed a large hardcover book.  Upon delivery, I found a gross error in wording on the cover.  Is there a way to get the cover only reprinted?

Using Aperture, I printed a large hardcover book.  Upon delivery, there was a spelling error on the cover  of the books.  Is it possible to get just the cover of the books reprinted correctly?

No.  If Aperture works similar to iPhoto as far a creating PDFs of the book you can create a pdf of the book and using it find a printer like Kinkos that could print a new cover. The PDF file that gets created by Control-clicking the background in the book mode will create the correct type of pdf file for this:
In iPhoto the PDF that gets created when you try to print the book and select PDF ➙ Save as PDF creates the wrong format for what you want.  If you have trouble creating that PDF file ask over in the Aperture forum.

  • Why does my artwork print slightly larger than actual size? - MacOS 10.9.2

I have an issue which I have no answer.  Every time I print an artwork for product mockup, say a 3x5 card, it prints slightly larger than a 3x5 card.  I have to manually scale my artwork down to 98.5 in the print dialog to get as close as possible to the actual size.  Its not related to a specific printer.  I have an HP printer and a Canon printer and the issue exists exactly the same between the two.  I'm running Illustrator 17.1 on an iMac running MacOS 10.9.2.  Can you please help make this easier for me?

    Wayne,
Are you using PostScript printer drivers (or at least PostScript emulation)? Non PostScript drivers may behave a bit like gremlins.
What happens if you Save As or Print to PDF and then print from that using the actual size/no adaptation to paper size?

  • OS X printing too large

I have a MBP with 10.6 that is printing images to large. By printing too large, I mean that the image of the page is being blown up too big - text is way too large and elements of the page are being cut off. This happens especially with web pages. None of my other computers (Mac and PC) have this problem. Any ideas?

  • How do i create a collage to print as a poster

I want to create a collage to print as a poster of an album of say 30 photos.
    How can i do this?

As Larry said 3rd party software is what you need.  One of the best and easiest to use I've found is Pages.  Just create a custom page the size of your poster, drag photos from the iPhoto window into the Pages window, resize as desired and drag to where you want it.
Another app, OmniGraffle, is one that I used to create this 96 photo poster:
It's somewhat expensive but the demo version will let you work with up to 10 photos on a page.
Otherwise go to MacUpdate.com and search for "collage" to get a list of potential candidates.
