Tiling a rectangle with arbitrary number of rectangles

I'm trying to figure out how to tile a rectangle (the stage) with an arbitrary number of rectangles. Simple tiling where all the tiles are the same size and simply stacked in a grid.
I'm doing this with a resizable layout and a number of tiles that is arbitrary and will change over time.
Given a more or less 4:3 or 16:9 monitor I would like a solution that tends toward minimizing the perimeter of the tile and being similar in aspect ratio to the screen. I realize that if I have a prime number of tiles that I won't be able to make a nice grid, but other than that it seems there should be some way to do this.
Lets say I have 231 tiles I need to arrange. The factors are 1, 3, 7, 11, 21, 33, 77 and 231.
If the screen is really, really wide 1 x 231. Wide but not not as crazy wide as before 3 x 77. And most likely 11 x 21 is what I would need.
So is there an easy way to do this on the fly? Is there a pre-calculated way to make it easy?

I've found some algorithms for doing a prime factorization of a given number, but not one for finding all the factors. Anybody got a suggestion?

    Hey guys,
    I am looking for a way to create a output gui (dynpro) with an arbitrary numbee of alc grids. The grids has different structures. Any ideas? I dont know the number of grids which shoild be displayed.
    If i use command write, thats quite easy but with alv is diffixult.

  • How do I fix the format of plot lines for an arbitrary number of sets of data plotted on the same x-y graph?

    I have written a VI to control an LCR meter and perform sweep functions. I have two x-y graphs on my front panel (one for each of 2 measured parameters). The VI is designed with a button to take a measurement, plot the data, and then wait for another event (like write data, clear plot, or measure again). The user can take simultaneous measurements and these are plotted on top of the data already there in the same x-y graphs (using an array of clusters with shift registers). There is no limit on how many sets of data can be on the x-y graph.
    Now, my issue is in formatting the plot lines (color, thickness, marker type). I can fix the first plot line by adjusting the parameters of the x-y graph. However, I also want to control the format of all consecutive plot lines. How can I do this for an arbitrary number of lines? The main thing I want to do is to have all of them show the square marker type (the default is no marker type, just a line).
    Thanks!

    Hi maximum23,
    You can use properties of plot to format the plot lines. You just have to select Active plot using property and then select color and line width etc..
    You can define color and width etc parameter by asking user or you can just make them default.

  • [ETL]How to transform a Source model into an arbitrary number of target models ?

    Hi all,
    I need to know how to transform a source model into an arbitrary number of target models which conforms to different target metamodels using ETL ? Is there any examples that can help me ?
    Thank you
    Mana

    Hi Antonio,
    Actully I mean the number of metamodels are known.For example, assume that there are two known metamodels in the target side, the first one is the target metamodel, and the second one is the trace metamodel .
    I would like to see an example of ETL transformation that run on a source model and generate the target model and the trace model as well. This statement is part of the chapter 5 of the ebook which says "it is often essential to be able to access/update additional models during a transformation (such as trace or configuration models). Building on the facilities provided by EMC and EOL, ETL enables specification of transformations that can transform an arbitrary number of source models into an arbitrary number of target models."
    could you please explain this more for me or provide me with an example.
    Thank you
    Mana

  • Arbitrary number of parameters

    I try to call a method defined to accept an arbitrary number of parameters, in particular in the following piece of code:
    String catalogPath = "/path/to/catalog";
    Constructor constr = resolverClass.getConstructor(
      new Class[] {CatalogManager.class});
    Object obj = constr.newInstance(catalogPath);where the method newInstance (see java.lang.reflect.Constructor) is declared as follows:
    public T newInstance(Object... initargs)
                  throws InstantiationException,
                         IllegalAccessException,
                         IllegalArgumentException,
                         InvocationTargetExceptionHowever, this piece of code is rejected (method not applicable to String). Casting the String into an Object returns the same comment, now for Object. Putting the String into an array and passing that array as a parameter is compiled without any problems but then throws an IllegalArgumentException with the message "type mismatch".
    What am I doing wrong here? Or is that in fact a compiling problem? (I'm using Java SE 1.6.0_01).
    Dieter

    Dear endasil,
    many thanks for your helpful comments! In fact, I was slightly confused about my own writing after reading your comment!-)
    What I really wanted to do was the following:
    CatalogManager mgr = new CatalogManager(path);
    CatalogResolver res = new CatalogResolver(mgr);In the meantime, I have found a way to avoid Reflection so the problem has gone for the moment. But I tried to rewrite the snippet above correctly, and - at least - there are no compiling problems any more:
          String catalogPath = "/Dieter/JAVA_Beispiele/XSLT/build";
          CatalogManager cm = new CatalogManager(catalogPath);
          // get a CatalogResolver instance and preset its CatalogManager
          Class resolverClass = loader.loadClass(className);
          Constructor constr = resolverClass.getConstructor(
             new Class[] {CatalogManager.class});
          Object[] args = new Object[] {cm};
          Object obj = constr.newInstance(args);However, I have to explicitly use an array; just putting cm as a single argument instead of args is not accepted by the compiler!
    Many thanks for your (eye opening!) help!

  • Can ADF Faces tree components do an arbitrary number of levels?

    In the help/ADF Developers Guide for the latest version (JDev 10.1.3 build 3673), the section titled "Working with Master-Detail Relationships" shows an example of using the Tree Binding Editor to wire up an ADF Tree component. The process of doing "Add New Rule" to wire up each node of the tree suggests that the number of levels in the tree must be known beforehand.
    Is there any way to do the binding for an arbitrary number of levels (e.g. if you are using a composite pattern)?
    I'm guessing that if I can't do an arbitrary number of levels, I'll somehow be able to set up a maximum number of levels and have the component behave properly when less than the maximum are actually in use.
    TIA,
    Clark

  • Message with IDOC number, created by LSMW, missing in job log in SM37

    Hi gurus,
    We have a temporary interface which uses LSMW to create IDOCs and update in SAP. It's used for materials, BOMs and document info records. In LSMW we have defined standard message types MATMAS_BAPI, BOMMAT and DOCUMENT_LOAD for the IDOCs. All these have the same problem.
    A background job runs and starts LSMW. In the job log in SM37 I want to see which IDOCs were created. For some reason this is different in my development system and my test system, and as far as I know all settings should be the same. In the test system LSMW creates more message lines in the job log, than it does in the dev system. Message number E0-097 is "IDOC XXXX added", and this is missing in the dev system.
    This is what it looks like in the dev system:
    Data transfer started for object 'MATMAS' (project 'X', subobject 'Y')             /SAPDMC/LSMW   501    I
    Import program executed successfully                                                             /SAPDMC/LSMW   509    I
    File 'XXX.lsmw.read' exists                                                                               /SAPDMC/LSMW   502    I
    Conversion program executed successfully                                                    /SAPDMC/LSMW   513    I
    Data transfer terminated for object 'MATMAS' (project 'X', subproject 'Y')       /SAPDMC/LSMW  516    I
    And this is what it looks like in the test system. More information, which is exactly what I want in dev system too:
    Data transfer started for object 'MATMAS' (project 'X', subobject 'Y')             /SAPDMC/LSMW   501    I
    Import program executed successfully                                                             /SAPDMC/LSMW  509    I
    File 'XXX.lsmw.read' exists                                                                               /SAPDMC/LSMW  502    I
    Conversion program executed successfully                                                    /SAPDMC/LSMW  513    I
    File 'XXX.lsmw.conv' exists                                                                              /SAPDMC/LSMW   502   I
    IDoc '0000000002489289' added                                                                      E0                         097   S
    File 'XXX.lsmw.conv' transferred for IDoc generation                                      /SAPDMC/LSMW   812   I
    Data transfer terminated for object 'MATMAS' (project 'X', subproject 'Y')      /SAPDMC/LSMW   516   I
    In both cases the IDOC is created and update works fine.
    My only issue is that I can't see the IDOC number in the dev system. I know I can get the IDOC number in WE02, but in this case we have program logic which reads the job log to be able to check IDOC status before sending OK message back to the other side of the interface.
    I hope any of you can have an idea how I can update somewhere to get message E0-097 with IDOC number into the log.
    Regards,
    Lisbeth

    Hi Arun,
    If you want to show your messages in the job log you have to use the MESSAGE statement. In case you use WRITE statements an output list be created which can be found in the spool (there is an icon to go to the spool directly).
    Regards,
    John.

  • Importing CD to Artist folder\Album folder\file with track number and name:

    I have a problem then importing my cd’s to my harddisk using iTunes.
    On my previous pc I got what I want, Artist folder, Album folder and file with track number and name:
    e.g.
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\03 I'll Survive.mp3
    But now I get:
    D:\My Music\Compilations\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
    D:\My Music\ Compilations \02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
    D:\My Music\ Compilations \03 I'll Survive.mp3
    In iTunes my settings are Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced: iTunes Music folder: D:\My Music and checkmark in both: “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”.
    My version of iTunes is 8.0.1.11
    Thanks in advance
    Peter

    It will depend on the album. Gracenote considers anthologies, a collection of tracks by the same artist taken from different albums, as a compilation. In iTunes the compliation setting should really only be applied to a collection of tracks by different artists.

    Hi Patrick
    I am working on this one as well. I have a UC560 with SIP Trunk provider Les.NET.
    It was working fine until a few weeks ago when something changed on the provider end and broke it. My hunch it is something to do with the SIP REFER.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-express/91535-cme-sip-trunking-config.html
    Here is an excerpt from the above page:
    Call Transfer
    When a call comes in on an SIP trunk to an SCCP Phone or CUE AutoAttendant (AA) and is transferred, the CME by default will send a SIP REFER message to the SP proxy. Most SP Proxy Servers do not support the REFER method. This needs to be configured in order to force the CME to hairpin the call:
    Router(config)#voice service voip
    Router(conf-voi-serv)#no supplementary-service sip refer
    Figure 3 shows the behavior of the CME system with the REFER method disabled.

  • I changed my sim on my iPhone n reconfigured iMessage, it configured with my number but when i sign in with my apple id it says username/password is wrong while in all other things like FaceTime, App Store it worked with the same id and password

    i changed my sim on my iPhone n reconfigured iMessage, it configured with my number but when i sign in with my apple id it says username/password is wrong while in all other things like FaceTime, App Store it worked with the same id and password..
    can anyone help me to solve this issue

    i just opened my ipad, started my apple account/I.D. and realized I put the wrong e mail. I was having trouble correcting my I.D on the Ipad so I went to my laptop and make the proper changes/slash e mail address I wanted for my apple ID. I got back to my ipad and try to download an app I can't because I have to sign in my apple account and I can't because it still has the irrelivant I.D/email address..
    So, i did what you said.. went to setting>app store> tapped on my e mail.. it asked me to sign in (with my invalid emails address showing). I signed in with the password I had created. It said "incorrect".. I went to reset password. I reset password, tried to sign in and it says again "unvalid password".. this is getting irritating.  I have been asking and no one knows what to do.

    Hi hectorness12!
    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I have found an article that can help you with troubleshooting your iMessage issue. The article can be found here:
    iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation

    Thanks,
    Braden

  • Two phones ordered, only one shipped. The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and charge to my card. iPhone 6 Plus has no information available, no one at CS can tell me if this is normal, if it is delayed, any info appreciated.

    I placed an upgrade order for two phones, an iPhone 6 and 6plus.
    I was in the Verizon shopping cart at 11:55 and checked out by 12:01 AM pacific time.
    I do have my email confirmation for both phones with ship date 9/19
    The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and the charge to my card came through for the price of this phone.
    There is no other information available - nothing on the status of the 6 Plus. Customer service doesn't know if this is normal or if my order went through, its really bad.
    Any further information would be much appreciated.

    I was just told by a Verizon sales rep that, when her team got in, when she checked the system at 3:03 (midnight+ 3 minutes)  all 6Plus had a back order date of October, and now its going into November even though the pre-order system was showing 9/19 - that all verizon iphone 6 plus had an instant sell out.
    She had no additional information on my iPhone 6 plus, not even if there was a chance for it to ship out, when the back order date would be - no further information.
    (A different rep I talked to said all iphone 6 plus pre orders had a ship date of October, all of them - I asked what Verizon is going to do when they advertised iphone 6 plus for 9/19 delivery and your telling me they never had any available - at this point he transferred me... *****)

    What's error 1 in adobe photoshop elements configuration? I have a computer with W Vista 8, Windows office home and business 2013. I recently tried to install Photoshop Elements by CD with serial number but on the desktop appears the following message: error 1 (configuration problem) try to uninstall and reinstall. I have done this but the message continues to appear

    You haven't mentioned which version of PSE. If it is PSE 13, that requires a minimum of windows 7.

  • How can I get a document from apple online store with IMEI number on it?

    Hi
    I got my iPhone stolen, and currently have insurance requesting a document with IMEI number on it, I called apple and they say this doesn't exist?
    I tried to explain to insurance, but they won't listen. I have sent in packing list, shipping notification, and scan of sticker on box with IMEI and serial number.
    2nd email
    Thank you for your email. We require a document with the full IMEI number on it. Once this is received we will be able to continue processing the claim.
    Kind regards
    1st email
    thank you for sending us your documents, unfortunately the proof of purchase you have sent in does not show the serial number or the imei number, so i cannot match it to the side of the box label to use the two together for a proof of ownership .To enable us to continue with the processing of your claim, we require a valid proof of purchase for the mobile phone you are claiming for.
    This must confirm the make, model and IMEI (International Manufacturers Electronic Identity) number of your phone and can be either a letter from your airtime provider on their letter-headed paper, a copy of the original receipt or despatch note that was provided to you when your phone was purchased. (this is not a air time bill)
    Thanks a lot,

    I bought from Apple online store, and IMEI only appears on sticker on the box which I've peeled off , scanned and emailed. Called apple and they said document doesn't exist with IMEI number on it. I've saw on another post someone managed to get apple to send them receipt with all the info within 3 days so I'll call back tomorrow, just the guy I spoke today didn't think it was possible.
    Thanks

    When I receive and answer e-mail, the correspondence is usually "nested" "behind"  the original message, and the number of replies, etc. are indicated with a number next to the original message in the inbox.  How can I change the mail settings so that every reply is listed individually in the inbox instead of having them "stacked" behind the original message.  I'm afraid I might accidentially overlook messages the way they are handled now.

    Somebody here will correct me if I'm wrong, but what you have to do is go into Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendars and under Mail, turn off "Organize by Thread".  I think that will make each message show individually.
