Time always goes back to GMT

I set my time zone to New York city, and either manually set the time or tell it to automatically set it off the Apple server, then lock the settings and still it switches back to GMT. So here it is 11:56 in NYC and my computer says 3:65.
Is there a fix?

My new iMac arrived yesterday and has the same problem. I followed the suggested procedure in the post above this one and can confirm that it works - my iMac now displays the correct time.
I notice that whereas I deleted a folder called localtime, it now has an alias called localtime, and the alias points to the time zone I selected.

Hey.
I've set a personal Screensaver because I like it when a Slideshow will be shown on my screen while I'm not on the iMac.
For some reason my screensaver always goes back to the original National Geographics Pictures and I don't know why. I've been searching for this issue on the internet before and in some other forum they said that I have to delete the "screensaver" file from the Preferences Folder in the Libary. I don't have this file through.

Ever since I downloaded OS X Yosemite when I set screen saver to use my iPhotos it always goes back to default national geographic images

In previous versions of iTunes, when swapping between playlists (or building them, for example), every time you went back to the music folder in the library, you get back to where you left off.
Now, it seems that if you switch out of the Music folder in iTunes 11, it "loses" its place, and always goes back to the top of the list. It's a pain to have to scroll down to where you were especially if there are several thousand songs to wade through) every time you switch in and out of the Music folder.
Is there a way to go back to where you left off, like in previous versions? I'm not sure using the column browser helps with this if you're building a playlist that spans artists and genres...

It seems to happen in all the other views as well. Very annoying. Please post if you find a solution for this!

When a TV show or movie finishes in iTunes on full-screen mode, it always goes back to my desktop instead of my iTunes library. Does anyone know how to change this?

Next time this happens, run Applications/Utilities/Console and see if any error messages are logged. If so, post them here

And today it won't even read my camera's sd card, and I try with 2 different ones. If I restart the computer, leaving the memory card in, then it reads it; but if I pull it out and push it back in it doesn't see it. Whath am I doing wrong, if anything?

Where/how are you trying to change the name? If it is in Finder (after you've downloaded the pics to your desktop), highlight the pic icon and press Return. the name field will change and you can type in your new name. Hit Return again. That should make it "stick". If you're trying to do it elsewhere, please post the steps that you've tried.
As for your card: do you eject it properly? Either drag icon to trash or hit the eject symbol in the sidebar?

I changed my password on my computer a few weeks back. Since then my iphone 5s will not let me know when I have a new email. In order to get my emails I have to push the mail icon, wait for it to connect and check to see if there are any new emails. Upon doing this, my emails will come through. I went to the Apple store today and they tried putting in my new password on my iphone. When I left the store they had accomplished what I went in for. Checked password on iphone and it had reverted back to old password. I have deleted my Yahoo account 3 times, changed password and it still goes back to the old one. All this is quit frustrating since I don,t live in Chandler and have to travel 40 miles, one way, to see a Genius about the same problem.

InDesign always goes back to Default settings

I cannot seem to get my settings to stay. If I have to force quit for any reason, the default settings always come back its is so frustrating. I also always have to open the tabs bar even though I check the tabs in the menu, every time I reopen the document, the tabs bar is gone....is this the norm? I am using Tiger, 10.4.11 on a G5 Powermac.

you must make your settings then quite not force quit. When you quit ID thats when the app writes the new settings as default when you force quit ID does not have the chance to save these settings. you must follow the prceedure in post 2.
If you can only force Quite ID there is something wrong with your computer.
first thing I would do is Archive and Install the OS.

When-Timer-Expired goes back to form

Got a problem in my application where I have a timer on my for which requery's everytime it expires. However if I am in another application e.g. Windows Nt Explorer every time the timer expires control goes back to the form.
Does any one have any ideas??

Try closing Mail App in Multitask Window

Time Capsule goes back to blinking yellow.

I have now rebooted my Time Capsule several times since setup a couple weeks ago to restore the solid green light. Ironically everything seems to continue working (internet and backup) with the blinking yellow - I think. How do I stop the time capsule from going back to a warning sign? And is there truly something I should be concerned about when it is blinking yellow? I am running two MacBook Pros and my wife and I both take them to other locations out of range and usually just "close the lid" on our laptops without powering off the MacBooks (Yes, occasionally we do deliberately power down and reboot - I've been told that's good to do now and again). Love the fact that as soon as we arrive home, and start using the Macs, the backup process begins automatically. Want to make sure that process is continuing without interruption. That's why we bought Time Capsule. Thanks!

A green light signals that eveything is working normally on the Time Capsule.
A flashing amber light is doing so for a reason. To find out why....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page) and another window will open to explain why the Time Capsule is complaining, along with suggested remedies
If everything appears to be normal on the network, the flashing amber light might be a message that there is an update available for your Time Capsule.

Long waiting times when going back to the organizer after doing changes of images. Elements 11.

After doing changes of images and going back to the organizer I have to wait a long time. This was not the case when I used elements 9. I have a lot of images stored around 18000. There are also often long waiting times when I move around in the organizer. Any suggestion?

How come the volume on my ipod touch is turning up when im not pressing any buttons? any time i turn it down it always goes back up like im pressing the button!

i think i just need a new ipod. ive tried even turning up the volume and the button isnt responding. something is wrong with the button. there is also some minor damage inside the ipod i think as well, but im pretty sure my warrenty is up because ive had this ipod for so long. will i be able to send my ipod back into apple and get a new one?

After latest security update Safari 5.1.9 (OSX 10.6.8) is not always going back to the preceeding page even the the URL is the correct page.

On several different occassions, I have hit the back button on Safari and it goes baack to a page several sites earlier. The URL displayed is the correct one (the one preceedin the page), but the page is not the one that the UL is saying it is - sometimes it is an entirely different domain. Any ideas anyone?

With Safari open, press Command + Option + E on your keyboard (empties the Safari cachee) then quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, empty the cache more often.
BTW, the Safari 5.1.10 update is available for download > Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard
