Time announcement voice

I changed the voice from an American lady to Kate, the English lady. (My grandmother was called Kate.)
Antway, I now get the two ladies telling me the time and try as I may I cannot cancel one or the other. I've tried unchecking Kate and clicked on Use System Voice but to know avail. I feel as I am being nagged now for being on the computer too long.
Any idease please?

I forgot to mention I am now running Mavericks and just updated my profile after submitting the question.

  • Time Announcement Not Working

I recently turned on my time announcement via System Preferences for my mac to say the time every half hour. So, when it was supposed to go on, it wouldn't. I know other people have had this problem, but I want to know why.
    Thanks,
    Gregory Zackim

Have you tried different settings and voices? If none of those things fix the issue, create a new admin account, log into it, and try setting it there. Report back.

  • Switching off Time Announcement

I have had the time announcement ticked to occur every half hour but when I have unticked time announcement to switch it off it is not working ie the time announcement continues to play
I have tried changing the frequency of the time announcement but this continues to play even though the option is unticked.
Any ideas on how I can stop the time announcement.
I am using OS X Maverics on a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 15'

Have you tried restarting your Mac? Some changes seem reluctant to happen without this.

  • What is recording time for voice memo

what is maximum recording time using voice memo

Before the 3.1 "update" i had no problems recording my 1hour 10min classes. I was amazed , of how easy I could use it, and even when my recordings on my iPhone wouldn't load and play I could easily track them down with iPhoneExplorer and convert them from .mov top .mp3 files.
In my case it automatically stops recording at about 32 minutes. This has even cost me money, I downloaded the iTalk app but i can't transfer the recordings to my pc because I don't have a Wi-Fi connection. Then I PURCHASED the SpeakEasy app with which I could supposedly sync my recordings straight to iTunes, but for some reason it doesn't seem to find my recordings on my BackUp folder.
Apple definitely dropped the ball in this one, I mean, why even tell us to update our iPhones if you hadn't even checked if there were any bugs, especially as big as this one.
oh and another thing...can anyone link me?? where can i report this bug?? maybe if enough people report it it'll pressure them to fix this quickly.

  • Annoying Time announce error

    Hello,
I just came back from Washington DC to Colorado.
The time zone is changed based on the my location, but the announce the time every one hour says the time still in DC.
I just waited it would correct itself, but after an hour and an hour it still says the eastern time.
I have no idea how the time announce could be different to the clock, but it is.
It happened a few months ago, when I came back from the SanFrancisco.
Now, I can be sure this is a bug of OSX and asking debug to the Apple.
    JJ

Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

  • Clock - time announce 'scratchy'

I've been using the option of having the time spoken on 10.5.2. The voice I had been using was trinoids. Today the voice developed a 'scratchy' sound. I also tried a few others - and they have the same 'scratchy/static' with the voice. However, if I hit the play button, the voice is clear. Music in itunes is fine.
The only thing I can think that I did different today (with audio) was to enable the digital output in the DVD player. It's back to the standard setting.
If I have it read the text on this web page, it is also filled with static.
    Ideas?
    Message was edited by: Travmac63

I would also add that using voice over - the voice is clear. Only the clock and 'reading highlighted text' seem to be affected.
Clarification: using voice over to read is clear, when using 'text to speach' - static occurs.
update: I toggled the clock (announce time), voiceover (universal access) and speak selected text when key pressed, off and on a few times - and the problem cleared itself.

  • Auto call timer announcement and cut off

I have been asked to come up with a comms solution for detention cells, where the detainee has the right to make a 30min call to their legal rep. The system would ideally announce at the start of call "your call is limited to 30 mins", then after 28 minutes announce "you have two minutes left" and then announce "you have reached your time limit" and disconnect the call.
Can this be done on UCCX with a controlled transfer, and if so, does anyone have a script? Does anyone know of a commercial application which would do this?

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. These are user-to-user support forums, so in almost all cases the only people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
As to your issue, there is no way to bypass the security questions, so you will need to reset them:
How to reset your Apple ID security questions
Go to appleid.apple.com and click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email.
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.  This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or  there is no rescue email link available, then:
click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
Next, go to getsupport.apple.com. If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services'.
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
A new page will open.  Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.

  • Hourly Time Announcement with a Cackle?

Hello. This may be a funny question, hope not! We have installed an hourly announcement that announces the time with a laugh or cackle. We want to get rid of it as it is a bit annoying but forget what program or utility it is so we can delete it. Wonder if anyone recognizes this and can lead us in the right direction!
    Thanks.

Thanks very much Stedman 1, appreciate that, I will now use something else as there are lots of choices--maybe start out easy with a Whisper!
    Cheers.

  • Why can't a customer change the length of time before voice-mail picks up??

I spent nearly half an hour on the phone yesterday with tech support attempting to lengthen the amount of time that elapses before voice mail answers from 30 to 40 seconds.  This use to be the easiest of settings to modify, even from first generation mobile phones.  Heck, you didn't even have to call tech support for such a simple change - just accomplish it from phone settings.  I was informed by Verizon tech support that now all Verizon phones have a standard 30 second time to pick up and IT CAN NOT BE CHANGED!!!  Ridiculous!  I use my phone for business and each time a miss a call it represents a potential lost customer.  Give me the extra freakin 10 seconds to answer please - come on Verizon!!!

Controlled by your carrier, so contact them.

  • Ring only 3 times before voice message is activated

I got an iPhone 5 and handed my iPhone 4 to someone. We reset the iPhone 4 completely and restored it to factory settings but it only rings 3 times before switching to the voice message. The current user is not on a contract and is making use of the prepaid system. He also uses another carrier. Please advice is as I/we have depleted our options.
    Regards,
    Gerhard

This is carrier dependent and based on time, not the number of rings.
The current user needs to contact his/her carrier and ask for the time to be increased to the maximum.

  • Does anyone know the max record time in voice memo?

Hi I am trying to find out what the max record time is for 1 voice memo on an i-phone 4 with 32 gb of ram.
I can not find it documented any where.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Thanks Ingo2711,
The pages you suggested point to the local carriers as the only authorized service centers.
The problem with Etisalat is that they outsourced that service to another company called Technocare.
That company sent the phone back twice (for the reasons mentioned above) and suggested that I have it fixed at a third party, which I am refusing to do since that will void my warranty. Additionally, they are refusing to give me any thing in writing to that affect.

  • SG-300 28P switches problem with VLAN Data and Voice, working all the time as Voice VLAN

    Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for your help in advance. I’m pulling my hair to fix the problem.
I  just got the new SG-300 28P switches. My Bios ordered for me. I did not  know how it runs until now... not an IOS based. I really do not know  how to configure it.
I have 2 VLAN are Data and Voice.
    -          Data VLAN ID is 2 IP 192.168.2.X/255.255.255.0
    -          Voice VLAN ID is 200 IP 192.168.22.X/255.255.255.0
    -          I created two vlans, in switch, Data and Voice.
    -          On the port number 28, it is trunk by default, so I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged.
    -          On the port number 26, it is trunk by default, so I add Voice vlan ID 200 tagged.
    -          On the port number 27, I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged for Data vlan out.
    -          Port settings No.1
I set it up as Trunk with Data vlan 2 untagged, and  200  Tagged (voice vlan). I plugged in a phone with a pc attached. But the  PC will get to the vlan 200 to get the DHCP address, but no from vlan 2.  The Phone works with correct vlan ip.
    -          Port settings No.2
Trunk with vlan 1UP, 2T, and 200T. The phone is even worse. Would never pick up any IP from DHCP.
    -          Port settings No.3
Access  with 200U...of course the phone will work... and the PC could not get  to its own vlan. Instead, the PC got an ip from the voice vlan. Not from  VLAN 2.
I have Linksys phone I’m not sure if this help.
For more information I setup in switch,
                - enable voice vlan
    - set the port on auto voice vlan
    - enable LLDP-MED globally
    - create a network policy to assign VLAN 200
    - assign this network policy to the port the phone is connected to.
I  hope this information help to help me to setup Data and Voice vlans, to  plug the phone to work with vlan Voice 200 (IP rang 192.168.22.X), from  phone to Pc and pc work as Data vlan 2 (IP rang 192.168.2.X).

I just got done setting up voice VLANs on an SF 300-24P and verified working.  This was working with Cisco 7900 series phones connected to a Cisco UC setup.
    Here's my sample config.
Note that I edited this by hand before posting, so doing a flat out tftp restore probably won't work.  However, this should give you a clue.  Also, don't take this as 100% accurate or correct.  I've only been working with these things for about a week, though I've worked with the older Linksys SRW switches for a couple of years.  I'm a CCNP/CCDP.
VLAN 199 is my management VLAN and is the native VLAN on 802.1q trunks.
VLAN 149 is the data/computer VLAN here.
VLAN 111 is the voice/phone VLAN here.
    VLAN 107 does nothing.
