Time Capsue 1GB + MobileMe: I guess I dont 'get it'
I've poked around and I think being new to Mac and the Time Capsule [not to mention MobileMe] I am a little confused.
I purchased the Time Capsule for doing backups, and then found it would integrate with my MobileMe account - great! My impression of what it would do is that I would go to http://me.com and login with my ID and then be able to see my Time Capsule from home listed either alongside or underneath my 'iDisk' area... but this isnt the case.
With that said:
* What does the integration with MobileMe actually do? Can I get to my Time Capsule files while not at home? If so, how?
* What is this feature to backup to my Time Capsule while not at home, too? How do I set it up?
Apologies - I've looked around and I see many posts but they assume the information I'm already lacking... thanks for helping correct my perception of what this setup is supposed to do.

One more addition... talked with a MobileMe support person (chat) and they said I need to open these ports on my Time Capsule... which doesnt seem to make sense... but also when I attempt to do that (via Port Mapping in the UI) it says there is a conflict and doesnt allow the setting of the ports anyhow. :/
I beginning to think that Apple didnt really think this all the way through for how it would work?
And in asking the tech couldnt say if, when using my MacBook Pro remotely, does it go to MobileMe which in turns go to my Time Capsule? Which would mean opening my local ports isnt needed... or does my MacBook Pro attempt to directly connect to my Time Capsule? Which means it would not only need the IP or DynDNS, but also the ports opened.
Thanks again for listening... maybe I'm simply thinking too hard?
One troubleshooting measure I did try is that while connected to Cricket Broadband I went into Preferences > MobileMe > BTMM and it stated that I needed a router with NAT-PNP capabilities... which I have... it's the Apple Time Capsule. :/ So I'm back to thinking that Cricket is blocking...

I've been getting the error message "The disk you inserted was not readable by the computer". I can't open system preferences, disk utility, or Time Machine. I had backed up my IPhone 4s on iCloud on Jan 19. I am now trying to do another back up but it says the time required is 7 hours. It appears to long a time for 1GB of data stored on the iCloud. Can someone help me please?
To be honest, that sounds about right.
For example on my 8Mbps (megbits) down service I get around 0.4Mbps upload. That is the equivalent of (very approximately) 3Mb (megabytes) per minute or 180Mb per hour. Over 7 hours that would be just over 1Gb.
Obviously, it all depends on your connection speed, but that is certainly what I would expect, and that is why I use my computer for backing up, not iCloud. So much quicker. -
I dont get sound for videos, games and music but ringtone still works. When i press volume buttons on side of phone i only get the picture of the nell and no little dots underneath. This is on my iphone 4s and ipad. It happened at the same time.
Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

I am getting this error when time machine tries to back up to a time capsule. "The backup disk image “/Volumes/JUDY ARCENEAUX's Time Capsu-1/JUDY ARCENEAUX’s MacBook Air.sparsebundle” is already in use." Same time capsule has worked in the past.
First, restart the computer and the Time Capsule. In most of the cases, this should solve the problem.

I have over 20 songs and apps on my phone and when i connect it to my computer none will transfer over into my Itunes on my computer this is the first time this has done this and i dont want to loose anything, everything is up to date so im not sure why this is happening
The computer must be authorized to the same account you have on your iPhone. Connect the phone and choose Transfer Purchases from the iTunes File menu.

my password is no longer working.. I did NOT change it. I requested that it be re-rest and it would email me the steps to re-set. I've done this several times... I dont get the email w/ instructions.. Ive checked spam folder also.. please help
You can send iTunes an email about your password and they can reset it on their end and email you the temp password. When they reset the password they usually make it something generic like Apple06.11

Accessing Time Capsule via MobileMe
Just bought the newest version of Time Capsule. Can't figure out how to access it via MobileMe. I went into the capsule settings in airport utility and put in my password for mobileme login info. Also, back to my mac is turned on. Still, I don't see my time capsule in MobileMe.
Am I missing something?Are you trying to find it by visiting the MobileMe web site? It won't show up there.
This feature simply makes it show up in your Finder's sidebar under Shared when you are remote. -

Soundstorm, i still dont get it

i still dont get it, which nf2 board supports soundstorm? eventhough i've asked this a million times, i still couldnt get a straight answer. does asus deluxe offer them? msi, which model? leadtek? epox?
but i guess, soundstorm could only be achieved with spdif, right?
thanksThere are only 2 nforce 2 boards by MSI that have Soundstorm. They are the K7N2G-ILSR and the K7N2 Delta-ILSR. These are the only MSI boards that come with the MCP2-T. Go to the links below and on both pages under PRO. MODEL OPTIONS only the ILSR models come with the MCP2-T which is required for Soundstorm. It is very easy to look at these web sites and assume all boards have Soundstorm but they don't. You have to read the fine print. I know the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe has Soundstorm but I'm not sure what other nforce 2 boards have it.

I keep getting the message MobileMe has been discontinued - iPhoto willmove albums you have published to MobileMe Gallery. . . but I have not knowingly published any photos to MobileMe. How can I get this message to stop. It's getting annoying.
Also, how can I remove duplicate photos in an album without doing it manually?
Thanks!When the prompt pops up next time you start iPhoto select Learn more. Then click on iPhoto preferences and select the Accounts tab. Delete your MM account and the quit iPhoto. Next time you open iPhoto the problem should be eliminated.

If the timeout expires, a java.net.SocketTimeoutException is raised, though the Socket is still valid. The option must be enabled prior to entering the blocking operation to have effect. The timeout must be > 0. A timeout of zero is interpreted as an infinite timeout.
i dont get what it means when it says block? stop? And when it says it must be vailid prior to entering the block operation where abouts is that?
ThanksSome Socket methods are designed to read a known number of bytes from an input stream. If those methods read less than the specified number of bytes, they will "block", which means that Socket is incapable of performing any other task until the read method completes. This can tie up system resources by keeping connections open, and might not be something desired. To avoid this, you would set the Socket's timeout value, and after the specified interval, if the Socket is still "blocked", it will timeout. When it times out, it throws an exception, but does not close the Socket or perform any Socket-related shutdown routines; it has not been "stopped". In order to shut down the Socket, you would have to write code to catch the appropriate exception, and explicitly close the Socket in that catch block. The explanation of the Socket's behavior is intended to let you know that the timeout process that happens when you set a timeout value greater than 0 is not designed to perform any resource deallocation or Socket close actions - that responsibility is left up to the programmer to handle or delegate as they see fit.
So basically, a Socket, when attempting to read from an input stream, will not be able to do anything else until that read completes - it "blocks" waiting for the read to complete. If the read does not complete, a method is needed to free up resources that may be associated with that Socket after a certain amount of time has passed (maybe the code is being run in an environment where system thread or connectivity resources are at a premium). By setting a timeout value on a Socket you can achieve this goal, but the responsibility for stopping or closing the Socket so that the appropriate resources are released lies with the programmer using the Socket.
Hope this isn't too incomprehensible; I recommend looking at Sun's tutorials and documentation related to Sockets for somewhat clearer explanations and code examples.
