Time Capsule 2TB was working until i disconnected and connected again.
Now the airport utility says "no configured AirPort base stations have been found."
And it has a flashing orange light.
I moved it from the house to another apartment.
I want to get back whats inside of the Time capsule, and back up again.

OK, newer laptops do not have an Ethernet port, unfortunately.
But i am conected to wi-fi on this device (computer) and my iphone.
Is this the Time Capsule WiFi signal, or does the complex provide a WiFi signal?
So internet is working.
So, you can connect to the Time Capsule WiFi and get an Internet connection on your laptop and the iPhone?
Or, does this mean that you are connected to another WiFi network (not the Time Capsule) and you have an Internet connection?

The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.

Time Capsule 2TB, use as multi MAC backup and extra HDD partition question

I just purchased a 2TB Time Capsule. I have an intel imac and a PPC G4 laptop, both running Leopard. I don't care about having to start a new Time Machine backup and just discard the old individual ones. I just need to know if I am supposed to Partition the Time Capsule HDD to have one Time Machine volume for each computer and another partition to use for a network storage area.
I have not opened the box yet, but read the manual online with a whole bunch of other information, and I don't seem to find the answer to this situation.
Logically it just doesn't seem correct (or neat) to have just one 2TB lump of space and have it used for many variations.

MikeTime Machine will automatically create a sparsebundle file on the Time Capsule for each computer that will look something like this:
"nameofcomputerMACaddress.sparsebundle
The Time Capsule will appear in the Finder under the SHARED heading and you can click to open the Time Capsule Folder to reveal the sparsebundle files there.
By clicking the gear shaped icon at the top of the window, you can also "Add New Folder" and rename them as needed. You can create as many folders as you like. -

time capsule first said the back up was delayed, now it won't connect to my home network. my internet is working fine and so is everything else but when i try to connect to the time capsule it says to check my server and ip address and if it continues to contact system administrator.. i didnt change anything, please help!
Lion networking.. just need to reboot everything.. modem TC and the clients.. then it will work.. Sometimes just the TC is enough.. sometimes just the computer. .. Vista golden networking award.. did you turn it off and on again??

AirPort Time Capsule 2TB doesn't works
My Airport Time Capsule 2TB has a problem. Today when i came back to my office i found out that my wifi doesn't works. The TC light is green but there is no wifi connection and i can't find my modem via Airport Utilities. If i leave the modem like that, after few minutes the light turns off. I tried reset my TC but doesn't work either. (unplug, press the reset button and re - plug) nothing happens at all, the green light stays on and after few minutes just turn off again!
It sounds like it is faulty. Is it still in warranty.. take it to apple store for testing / replacement.
If it is older.. what model is it exactly.. older ones are not repairable in most cases..
Give us the model, A1xxx from the base. -

Following a question solved on March 24 by LaPastenague, but gone bad again.
Apple AirPort Time Capsule
I felt the need for a physical backup of my data, as I would not completely trust the different clouds. I use, and have used Dropbox for 4-5 years and are very satisfied with that, but I am still not sure if or when a political lunatic will shut off the internet.
I purchased the Apple AP Time Capsule 2T, because all my other stuff are Apple, and that it's wireless. My old backup is Maxtor 300 GB.
Since we stay 2-3 weeks on two locations, one in Norway and one in Sweden (two different countries) we must use Mobile Broadband 4G, cables or fibre connections are useless for us, and we don't have it up to the houses. I have one mini router for each country, we bring with us iPhones, iPads, iMac, Apple TV, APExpress. When we pass the boarder I change the mini router, and the system continues working perfect on the WiFi, except the APExpress that needs to be reconfigured, but then it works.
The APTC was difficult to make working as it would not accept to be in an existing network, but with good help from the Apple Community, LaPastenague, with forcing the TC connect to the APE with Ethernet cable in bridge mode, ref "My Time Capsule does not work with existing WiFi" from March 24, the problem was solved and all gadgets worked together in a perfect harmony, until we changed location.
Now, as I have my second WiFi network, and the APExspress is reconfigured, it's like the TC thinks, I am the base boss here, I am not taking orders from APE one more time, and it simply does not work, not only that, it fluctuates all the time.
I have a slight feeling that the two WiFi bands are making the trouble as during the configuration of the TC sometime the last figure 6 and 7 pops up, and that has something two do with the two different 2,4 and 5 GHZ bands
So, I am curious if you have any idea ?

Open the airport utility .. go to the disk tab and select erase.
When you select erase you will get mulitiple options.
Quick removes the file table but does not delete the files,, it takes 2min or less.
A Zero out data is the secure way,, by writing 0 ie low level drive format.
It can take several hours..
7 pass will take a week.. not recommended..
35 pass erase is ridiculous.. it would take a month.. put an ax through the TC. It is quick and better.

The fact that it did work and has now failed might point to faulty unit.
The only way to tell is reset it properly to factory and start over.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Generally having multiple wireless AP should not cause problems.. but it is better to set channels manually.. so it doesn't go beserk rotating channels.
Remember to keep all names short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Sadly though the Apple routers have no logging now and no SNMP and almost nothing to help diagnose a problem, so if it continues .. take it back to apple.. they have given you no other method of fixing it. -
Time Capsule 2TB vs. Netgear WNDR3300 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless Router
Hey everyone, I just bought the Time Capsule 2TB since I was running out of space at home and wanted a solution for both PC and MAC machines. Upon installation I learned that the TC can actually be my Wireless Router! Right? For some reason I never knew it could do this - I thought it could just be a wireless harddrive.
Ok, so I already had a wireless router (the Netgear WNDR3300 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless Router). So my questions are the following:
1) Is the TC a completely safe and equal replacement for the Netgear Wireless Router that I have?
2) Currently the TC is setup as a wireless HD on my network (where the Netgear is the router) and the transfer speeds I am seeing are pretty darn slow! I am assuming it is because the data needs to go from LAPTOP -> Router -> TC. Right? So my question is, if the TC is setup as the actual wireless router, then would the data transfers be faster? Since I would only have to go from LAPTOP -> TC to store the data.
One more side question regarding the TC and connecting a printer:
3) If the printer has scanning capabilities, then where does this scanned document file go when the printer is connected to the TC ?

It appears to offer essentially the same features and performance at a glance. If you are using ethernet devices, the TC has 3 LAN ports, while there are 4 on the Netgear.

I think it will be about the same. You could of course hook up the TC and try it, but I doubt that you would notice any measurable difference.

Assuming that your printer is compatible with the TC you will be able to print, but advanced functions such as copying, scanning, maintenance, etc. will not work. You will need to connect your all-in-one directly to your computer if you need these other services. -

And what does it mean "to administrate" because it was written in requirement of the Airport Time Capsule 2TB ?You must use a Mac running Lion (10.7.5), Mountain Lion or Mavericks to be able to set up the Time Capsule and make any changes to the settings.
A recent version iPhone or iPad could also be used for this task.

Im using iMac airport utility but it seems there was a "crash" when I had choose the extending option, As it went nowhere
Does this airport can only be used with internet cable ?
I also have an old version of Airport Extreme which i can actually extend HUAWEI E5776 4G/LTE mobile wifi connection
I assume perhaps there is something need to be updated?
Other questions are
- iPhoto, would it be possible or "wise" to have all of my pictures in this airport and all of my Apple products can access it?

Thanks for your helpThe instructions for upgrade install of DD-WRT are very clear.. and simple although you should always take care. I read the instructions and follow them.. It might seem like obvious but 90% of the issues people get themselves into is caused by not reading the instructions.

As with any products in the domestic realm.. some are excellent .. some average and some stink real bad.
I have dealt with rotten products from all the major companies. Netgear still have plenty of stinkers out there.
Any universal wireless repeater should work.. be careful though with some products are actually not UNIVERSAL. I do take great care again to find out if people can use the Netgear with products from another brand. All wireless is voodoo .. wireless across brands is like voodoo plus plus.
My current Asus router is one of the best I have owned .. RT-AC66U.. far superior to what went before.
And I usually avoid dlink like the plague, but it is important to realise that amongst the dross there can still be specks of gold. -
Airport Time Capsule 2TB - Problem with Backups

I´m from Germany but I hope you understand my english. I have got a problem with my new Airport Time Capsule 2TB. I want to use it as a data storage, where all my pictures and videos are accessible via WIFI.
Copying the datas was no problem but now I want to make a backup of all the datas. For this purpose i created a RAID 0 out of two 1TB external hard drives. I connected the bay with these two hard drives in it with the Time Capsules USB interface. The problem is that no drives were displayed in the airport-programm ... Also non of my other USB hard drives were found. Only the Time Capsule´s partition "data" got found...
In the time machine program I can´t see the Time Capsule, so I can´t do a backup on the normal way... Even the "hard drive - program" from OS X didn´t show the Time Capsule.
It looks like they don´t want to know anything about each other ...
So, how can I realize to do a backup of the datas saved on my Time Capsule?

You have two problems.. maybe 3.
1. Time Machine (TM) does not work on network drives which includes Time Capsule.. so you simply cannot backup your pictures from a TC to a backup location using TM. It only works on locally connected drives.. you can use an alternative software like Carbon Copy Cloner .. I did check superduper but in the past it was not able to backup network source drives. You will need to check if the situation has improved.
2. The Time Capsule will not accept raid array disks.. it must be a standard hard disk on a USB drive that it has drivers for.. and that is far from every model out there. So not all plain single USB disk works.. almost no array disks work.
3. Your iphoto library if that is what you mean by pictures should not be on a network drive.. apple says it is going to be corrupted.
YMMV.. it is dangerous and only a matter of time.. if the pictures and videos are raw from camera that is fine.. it is only the iphoto (or aperture) library that is at risk. -
Time capsule backup not working - again!
My 2TB Time Capsule has been causing problems recently - hanging and not backing up completely - and also causing my iMac to hang with the spiining beachball of death. I have other backups so I decided to erase and start again - but, three times now it has backed up OK for the first few GB - saying it would take one day to complete the 1TB backup. But, each time it gets to 18.65 GB - and then says it wil take 26 days! I left it for another day and it had only backed up less than one more GB.
Why is this happening? Why does it hang at the same amount? I have even erased it completely - which took 8 hours - yet still the same problem!
I have tried everything that seems relevant in Pondini's list (and deleted time machine .plist)
What else can I do? This is driving me crazy!Hi
Thanks for your advice. I erased the drive in the TC - first attempt was via quick erase then later via an overnight complete erase.
I am now giving up on this backup - which now shows it will take 29 days! It has actually reached 23.7 GB now. However, as I said earlier it backed up the first 17 GB in about as many minutes - then, on each attempt it has got slower and slower - until now at only 23.7 GB it will take a month!
I have now detached the TC from wirelss,leaving only an ethernet connection. I will try and reformat and start all over again!

Why does wireless on my Time Capsule (2TB, 3rd Gen) drop the wireless network now?
Starting a couple of weeks ago, my Apple Time Capsule (2TB, 3rd Gen) has been dropping the wireless network almost daily. I end up pulling the power cord to restart it. I've had the device for what I think has to be about a year and a half already, and it's been working flawlessly until now. I have it on 802.11N (dual-band), using WPA2, with an average of about 7-8 client devices at any one time throughout our home. The problem doesn't appear to be any one client, since all lose connectivity at the very same time. The Time Capsule LED is still green when it's down, and again restarting it solves the problem. The device is out in a well ventilated area, and doesn't feel like its overheating. Devices using Ethernet to connect are unaffected (other than losing visibility to wireless network elements). It can occurn at any time, day or night, seemingly at random. The Airport Utilty advises that I have the latest firmware version (7.5.2).
Anyone have any idea whats going on? Having similar problems? Fix, workaround, suggestion?Try setting the wireless to manual and fixed channels.. the auto channel swapping does cause issues.. I would also give different names to 2.4ghz and 5ghz so you know clearly which wireless you are connected to.
But sometimes they do just go bad.. power supply is not robust. They do become unreliable. -

When i first got the time capsule about 2 months ago i had problems right off the bat. I changed the WEP to a WPA, plugged the time capsule into the router instead of going wirelessly and used it to extend the network. After several time of reseting the capsule, changing settings and passwords, and waiting several minutes for the airport utility to say it could not connect i finally got it to work.
Now, the other day i went to move my desktop to another outlet, so everything was unplugged via the surge protector, for about 5 minutes then plugged back in. Now the capsule no longer works. I was getting the same messages as two months ago, as if everything was reset in turning it off for a minute. I went through the same processes as last time to get it to work, but not this time. After waiting at the airport page for a few minutes it says that internet connection is the issue. Now the capsule is about 1 foot away from the router and plugged in, and i have internet connection to the desktop and my macbook pro.
Does anyone have any ideas, omitting the stupid suggestions web pages tend to give, such as is it plugged in? is it turned on?

I have an external hard drive from my time capsule that stopped working on me. I am attempting to access the data with a hard drive reader on my MAC. I am able to see the drive in disk utility and under system info USB. But I am unable to access the data and it does not show on the desktop when connected.
Ok if disk utility was able to verify the drive I doubt there is any problem.. are you trying to open a TM backup??
You need to mount the sparsebundle then check the actual info inside the bundle.
Don't use disk warrior.. if the disk has verified then unless you deliberately deleted files there is nothing that is going to do.
