Time Capsule access goes away, after new comps with vista

Hi. I am not a computer person, but I work in a small nonprofit and our IT person has gone on vacation. our network keeps creashing and we loose access to the time capsule data. This all started happening after we installed 2 new computeres with Windows Vista and 2 new laptops with Vista were added to the network. Can somebody please help me out. I can't get any work done! Thanks =)

The amber light is like the "Check Engine" light in your car. It blinks for a reason......the Time Capsule has a message for you.
That message might be that there is a firmware update available for the Time Capsule that needs to be installed....or....that AirPort Utility has detected that the Time Capsule is not configured correctly to work with the Xfinity router that you are now using.
To see the message.....open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the amber dot
Then look for a Status setting, and click on the small amber dot there
A message will appear to tell you why the Time Capsule is whining, along with a suggested action to fix the issue.
If you are still having difficult, we for you to post back with the exact message that you see.

Unfortunately, most Time Capsules do not live beyond 3 years of age.
You might want to consider having the Time Capsule repaired. Apple will not do this for you, but there are some servicers who can. Check the link for Time Capsule Repairers in the document below provided by forum expert LaPastenague.
A local shop might be able to do the repair as well using the information in the link.

Time capsule not working properly after moving to a new house

Hello,
I have a macbook pro and a refurbished time capsule 2tb. I purchased both in 2013 and the time capsule at that time was used as both a wireless router for our house and my back up.I recently moved and didn't have access to the time capsule for over a month. Once I settled into the new house I plugged the power cable and internet connection into the time capsule and assumed that automatically it would keep working. It appears that it is backing up my system as I can pull up the application and see appropriate in-time documents however it consistently has a slow orange light blinking. I am not currently using it as a router as we have xfinity and have a different router for the house and when I try to use the time machine instead it cannot connect.
My internet connection is fine and I would like to leave it as is. It also appears the back up function is working for my mac. The question is, does the orange blinking light matter and or is it indicating that I am improperly using the machine? It it because the ethernet cable is attached and can the time capsule work without this?
I have tried resetting the capsule with the 10seconds hold on the reset button etc as seen on other posts but the orange light remains.

Time Capsule won't mount after upgrade to iTunes 9

See my full post in the Time Capsule support section ("Help! Time Capsule won't mount after installing iTunes 9"). My music library is on my Time Capsule, but after installing iTunes 9, it won't mount on my iMac G5. I can use the internet, but the disk won't mount. My Powerbook hasn't been updated yet and the Time Capsule mounts fine.

To make it easier, here's the post:
"My music library is on my 500 Gb Time Capsule. I just installed iTunes 9 on my iMac. It updated my library and synced my iPhone. Now, the TC won't mount. I still have internet connectivity, but I can't access my media or print to my printer connected to the TC. I can use the computer and everything, but if I hover my mouse over the TC disks menu bar icon, I get the spinning beach ball there. If I try to connect using my Network icon in the sidebar, it allows me to log in and get to the screen to select the volume I want to mount, then stops responding. I used an external hard drive for my backups via Time Capsule. I bought a new computer and I want to transfer all my old fonts over to the new one but when I go into the Font Library from the hard drive backup but my downloaded fonts aren't there?

I used an external hard drive to back up my computer using Time Capsule before I bought a new one. I am slowly transferring information fromt he backup to my new computer and I want to transfer over my old font book. When I go into the Font folder on the hard drive the only fonts that show up are the ones that came stock with the computer not any of the ones I have downloaded over time. Could they be downloaded somewhere else?

The answer to that would probably be "Yes." If you don't remember where your fonts were stored, you may want to search your backups for any of the font files you know the names to. See where that takes you.
Ideally, Font Book and other font managers will temporarily store the fonts you "installed" into the System when you run the OS. When you shut down, etc. they are removed and reloaded on restart. The permanent place fonts reside is where you saved them when or after you downloaded them. I typically create a Resources folder on the root level of the computer and place a Fonts folder there. Then I install fonts from there, and they are available to all users on that iMac.
Perhaps if you did not have that kind of a strategy, perhaps many of them are still in your Downloads folder?

Deleting Time Capsule to Give away

Hey there. Apologies if this question is in another thread but I cant seem to find a specific answer. I am giving my Time Capsule 2TB away. I have performed a 7 Pass erase and also an extra zero out erase for good measure,. When I reconnect the time capsule Airport Utility gives it the name as Time Capsule with "2TB Free" written underneath it. A hard factory reset has also been performed so I'm pretty sure that any data has been secruely wiped and is un recoverable! Ive never really used my TC as a wireless hub. The erase was performed without being connected to the internet, but Aiport Utility gave me the erase progress for all the 7 Erases .I have four (hopefully) simple to answer questions.
1. Is there any way I can link this TC back up to the MAC so that I can view it as a hard drive only to confirm its been deleted?
2. Does Time Capsule write over the Hard Drive on its own, i.e. it is not the Mac that is doing this but the TC itself.
3. When I link the TC back up it gives me the opportunity to "restore network from previous settings", and indeed starts "searching for my (previous network names) settings" which i didnt really use. Can I assume that these settings are being taken from the Mac and not the hard drive on the TC. In other words if someone connects it to her own Mac it wont restore all of my previous settings to their Mac/PC?
4. In your expert opionions can I give this away safe in the knowledge that my data is unrecoverable? Its not exactly sensitive data but nonetheless I dont want it falling into just anyone's hands!

AirPort Utility 6.3.1 will allow you to erase the disk on the Time Capsule, so you can start over again with a new backup set from both your current Mac and new iMac.
If that is what you want to do......
Open AirPort Utility 6.3.1
Click on the Time Caspule icon, then click Edit
Click the Disks tab at the top of the window
Click Erase
The Quick Erase option will only take a minute or two, then you can start over with new backups from both your Macs. Do a complete backup from one Mac first, then do the other.

Boot from your OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Utility.

You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations, so if you only had one installation, you still have the option to install on a second without doing anything further than that. If you originally downloaded the purchase thru Adobe then you might find a download link available in your Adobe account online. You can also download thru the following page if you can find your version:

If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.

you should still be able to get a copy of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), which should run on your G5.

A Time Capsule is an AirPort Extreme with a built in hard drive to allow your Mac(s) to back up automatically, so it's a logical choice if you need a wireless router and back up capabilities for your Macs
The AIrPort Extreme has a bit better antenna arrangement than an AirPort Express, so it would be a good choice for a two level house.
Depending on the location of the "main" wireless router, you may find that you still need to add an extender or two in other parts of the house for full, fast wireless coverage. The AirPort Express is a good choice for this duty.

Wireless between Mac Mini and Time Capsule occasionally goes out.

Is there a known issue with certain models of Mac mini's with wireless issues?
I have a Core 2 Duo Mac Mini (with OS X 10.6.6) with a Time Capsule (7.5.2) used as a wireless router. I also have an iMac, a MacBook, a Windows XP machine and 3 iPhones that connect to the Time Capsule. However, my issues only exists with the Mac Mini which sits about 10 feet away from the Time Capsule and is closer than any other computer.
In short, it appears that my Mac Mini intermittently does not connect to the internet. The wireless signal in the menu bar is fully black the whole time. I've tried connecting to a the regular wireless signal and the 5GHz signal. There is no pattern to the intermittence that I notice. I have a constant ping running on google.com as I'm typing this, and will ping successfully 70%-80% of the time and timeout the rest of the time, all while the wireless indicator in the menu bar is full. This issue has come and gone for about a year now. There will be weeks and sometimes months that the issue doesn't appear, and then sometimes it seems to happen several times a day. Sometimes a reboot seems to resolve the issue, sometimes not. It seems that when I'm not doing anything on the internet, the pings continue to respond successfully, but once I start to "surf" is when the connection will start to drop out again. For instance, if I start watching a YouTube video or stream an audio file, the signal drops out again for a while. Sometimes it will reconnect on its own, sometimes i have to turn the Wireless off and then back on to get it to reconnect. Any help would be much appreciated.

HT1338 I erased my Time Capsule HD using the Disk Utility on my Vista computer

I erased my Time Capsule HD using the Disk Utility on my Vista computer and I now can not see my TC in my computer. I tried to remap it by right clicking my computer and selecting remap drive, but after selecting Z drive I cannot find TC in browser. Not sure if I did something wrong but it was working fine before I erased it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To erase the OSX on your harddisk you have to boot your Mac from the OSx Install DVD that came with your Mac.
You can't erase the OSx from which your Mac is booted.
