Time capsule and IP config problems = no internet... please help!!

Dear all,
No wireless internet for a month, Apple won't help without £35 from me and my ISP is stumped. This forum saved me from myself before... I'm keeping the faith!
The problem is a D-link DSL-300 T configured to provide DHCP into a Time Capsule which should then theoretically allow wireless internet access at home. After updating the airport software, it all went wrong. I have tried every combination of enabling/disabling the DSL DHCP; setting the TC in bridge mode/range of IP addresses/public IP address (10.0, 172.16 and 192.168 all tried) to no avail.
The closest I got to success was DSL in DHCP, TC set to DHCP public IP address starting 172.16. Even then it worked for only an hour. I keep getting the pop-up message "IP configuration 87.112.**.** in use by 00:21:e8:01:*:*, DHCP server 192.**.*.". I have run out of ideas and am rapidly losing the will to live.
Any help or advice would be gratefully received!

If you're still experiencing "disconnects," even with the earlier firmware, but not experiencing these at all when directly connecting your computer to the modem, there is a good chance that one of the following may still be the problem:
o Bad Ethernet cable between the D-Link & TC.
o The TC is faulty.
o The D-Link is faulty.
o The TC & D-Link are just not compatible with each other.
o The ADSL signal strength, coming from your ISP into the D-Link, may need "tuning."
I'd start with trying a known good Ethernet cable. If that doesn't resolve the problem try contacting your ISP/ADSL-Provider next to see if they can run a ADSL line diagnostic to verify that there is a good signal to the D-Link; While you have them on the line, see if they can provide you with another modem.
Finally, if available to you, try temporarily replacing the current TC with another TC or another wireless router.

Time Capsule and iTunes set up not working, please help.

I have moved my itunes library to my time capsule and changed my itunes preferred path to its time capsule location. However when I restart my apple laptop, after having shut it off for the night, and open itunes (time capsule is visible and accessible to the laptop), itunes has reversed the preferred path I set to point to my time capsule to my local laptop hard drive instead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have looked in other discussions concerning lost itunes file paths, however I never had this issue with my wired external drive; and I only start iTunes after I am sure that my computer can access the files on my time capsule. Thank you.

Time Capsule And Snow Leopard - Problems Accessing Files / Folders

Hi all,
I am having a problem accessing the time capsule drive and my networked Macs drop boxes etc from the finder. They were working fine, possibly before 10.6.1 and are very intermittent at the moment. If I goto 'go' then 'network', it shows all connected devices fine however accessing them seems to be sketchy. For example, from my Mac Pro upstairs, I can see the time capsule and macbook fine, I can connect to them fine, even screen share with no problems, however when I try to access the drop box, or anything at folder level, I get a spinning type icon in the lower right of the finder by the new zoom bar that just keeps spinning and nothing happens. I have this problem accessing the 'data' folder on my time capsule from both the Mac Pro and the MacBook unless I access it from the drive it mounts on the desktop, I get straight in that way! It's quite infuriating really. Anyone else having this problem? Just to update, I have both Macs connected to the time capsule for time machine and backups are working fine. It would seem that you do eventually get into the folder you try to access, but takes forever for some reason.

I couldn't access files on a drive attached to my TC recently, and I fixed the problem by repairing permissions on my main hard drive (the one in my computer.) This option is in Disk Utility. Not sure if that will work for you but it's worth a shot, it doesn't hurt anything! A lot of people recommend repairing permissions every time you update your operating system.

I need help with this Time Capsule and External HD problem!

my time capsule is working perfectly and i decided to hook up a seagate 500 external hd thru the usb on the back of the time capsule!
well i can see both drives on my macbook and i can transfer files from my mac to both hd with a breeze
one major problem i cannot extract files from my external hd only put files in! i tried checking the setting and everything but with no avail! anyone have this problem and how did they fix it? thank you!

Try connecting another USB storage device to the TC - HDD or memory stick. Format the device while it's connected to the TC, then try writing and reading to it.
It does seem very odd that you can write to the HDD but not read from it. Presumably when you copy files to it they appear in Finder - you can see them OK? Do they appear to be the right size ("get info", or click in "columns" view). What exactly happens if you try to drag them back to the desktop?
I can only think that you may have a hardware or formatting problem, hence trying a different, freshly formatted, drive.

Time Capsule and Epson R2880 problem

I just set up a new Epson R2880 but can't print using time capsule. I was using as epson 1270 with no problems. I opened system preferences- Printers and fax - clicked the + and selected the R2880. It shows up in the printer utility and the print the cue says"printer is ready" but the print job is missing. Not sure what to do. One thing I just noticed, in the dialog box that opens when I hit the + the printer description says R2880 then under kind is says Bonjour and that seems odd.

I have same problem for Epson EPL5900L. I can setup EPL5900L in MacBook Pro and WinXP (through Bonjour) machine but I just cannot print. I have tested with MacBook Pro and WinXP machine connected to 1T Time Capsule both wirelessly and wired.
I had upgraded the EPL5900L driver to ver 5.0 for Mac. I have tested with different drivers, including GUPS+Gutenprinter v5.2.4. But so far have no luck.
I have tried connecting EPL5900L to WinXP machine and shared the printer. I was unable to print wirelessly from MacBook Pro to EPL5900L, but have same problem. I was able to do this with my old NETGEAR wireless router.
Apple support center told me it is EPL5900L driver issue. But I doubt so.
Someone on the web said is the Bonjour URI setting issue, I had tried that but no luck.
Anyone have solution on this?

The Wireless Router portion uses standard protocols that will work with ANY computer using standard protocols, including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
The shared Printing features are well supported by Mac OS, and may be partially supported by Windows and other Operating Systems.
The Time Capsule features require support from the Operating System in your individual computers, and at this writng, I believe only Mac OS X supports these features.

Time capsule and Power book G4 10.4.11 help

I have an old powerbook G4 running 10.4.11. I recently purchased a new time capsule. I am trying to figure out if it is possible to copy my old iphoto and itunes library to the time capsule. I tried plugging the time capsule into the computer via ethernet but the time capsule doesnt appear on the computer. The G4 also does not have time machine, so i would like to know if there is another way to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The latest OS X version for PowerPC-based Macs is 10.5.8, so you can't install Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Instead, check that your Mac can run Mac OS X Leopard > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp517 If so, you can buy Mac OS X Leopard at Amazon.
Then, make a backup of your Mac with Carbon Copy Cloner (there's a version for Tiger) and finally, insert the Leopard DVD and upgrade. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install the most recent Leopard version.
After upgrading to Mac OS X Leopard, you won't be able to use Classic applications

Trackpad and Mouse click problem!! PLEASE HELP!

I have been having this weird problem which is having to click several times on something of it to work. Mostly I have the problem with Safari and sibelius 6.0 which I work with.It doesn't click and its frustrating.I bet its not the trackpad as I happen to have a magic mouse and it's the same with that too.I have to click several times on for example "Close" the tab button for it to work.

Kirstiee, login to another User account and test it in there.
sahba99, you would need to drag the whole preference folder to the Desktop and reboot. If it works, you know it's a preference file in that folder. Keep dragging a bunch back at a time and reboot (or log out and back in) until you narrow it down to the corrupt file. It's kind of like troubleshooting an extension conflict back in the pre-OS X days.

Access time capsule remotely from windows 7 os. Please help!

I have enabled net/bios in the network prefs in windows but to no avail. It works fine from a vista os but I cannot seem to figure it out from windows 7. Will someone please help me. I cannot find it anywhere on the web. I am good at finding answers and this one has me stumped. THANK YOU!!!

The failure of the airport utility to find the TC suggests something more fundamental is wrong.
1. Use ethernet. Plug the laptop directly into the TC. Make sure you have internet connection and wireless is off.
2. In windows explorer type directly into the address bar the TC name or IP address.
\\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
If both of them fail and you still have internet access then the issue is firewall.
3. Test again with airport utility.
4. Ensure that the PC is set to home location, not work or public. Turn off all internet security, not just the firewall you can see.. as there can be another you cannot see.
5. If your laptop is setup for windows domain controller, then explain to your IT department you want to connect to peer to peer resources at home. It maybe blocked somehow.

IPod and iTunes... significant and rather severe problems...please help!!!

A few days ago my iPod all lagged up when I was using it...so I synced it with the mac and all the problems went away...so far so good right!...well a few days later it wouldn't shuffle when I shook it (it would only go back to the previous menu!),
nor did the "shuffle songs" menu item work in the main menu...
...and during play if the little 'shuffled' icon was displayed in the top right corner, then it would only play that song, and then go back to the previous menu...
...so I synced it again...and reformatted it!-still no change...and then the shuffle songs button on iTunes stopped working!!!
Can somebody please help...I have no idea what's going on!!!

Time capsule and NAS drive Problem

Currently have my TC connected to my wireless router via its only ethernet port. I want to add a NAS drive but as there is no port left onthe router, can I use one on the TC??

Does your cable modem have an Ethernet port? If it does, then connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the TC. You do not need to use the WiFi from the cable modem. The TC will provide both wired and wireless networks. The second NAS can be connected via Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the TC.
I use just a cable modem (it does not provide any routing - it's a Motorola SurfBoard) connected by Ethernet cable to the WAN port on an Airport Extreme Base Station which is basically the TC's router but without an internal hard drive. Then any Ethernet device connects to one of the LAN ports on the AEBS.

Time capsule slow when transferring files over wifi - please help!

Well - the problem started after the insallation of Lion. It takes around 1 min to transferre 8 mb. So if i want to see a film from the TC i need to cable it and thats not realy the point of having a wireless harddisk.
I have turn spotlight off
I have reset the disk - default settings
I have made a clean Lion instal.
I have called apple support, that wanted 40€ to fix the product they made - in a bad way.

Time capsule and time machine keep disconnecting

My Time Machine keeps losing connection to my Time Capsule and dropping it's wireless internet connection. The internet comes back, but when I click on the Time Machine settings and open Airport Utility, it shows the internet connection as Green, but it never finds the Time Capsule.
A. How do I get it to reconnect.
B. What is causing it to disconnect?
I have an iMac (Intel) with OS 10.7.5. I have Time Machine setup to backup my iMac wirelessly to a Time Capsule. I also have a cable modem providing wireless access. The Time Capsule is setup in Bridge Mode.

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
If that doesn't work try changing channels on your Router.

I recently created a new apple ID
Bad idea.
Content bought with an Apple ID is forever associated with that Apple ID. Apple will not transfer content from one Apple ID to another and Apple will not merge Apple IDs. Unless you are prepared to forfeit all the previously purchased content and buy it all again with the new Apple ID, you will need to maintain the old ID to update and redownload your content.
