Time capsule claims mobileme incorrect password

So, today my printers are not working, and they've been hooked up to my wireless network through Time Capsule for over a year, nothing changed from my side. When I opened Airport Utility and restarted the TC, I got a Problem reported: Your MobileMe member name or password is incorrect.
So, I entered them, the thing restarted again, and I'm right back where I was, with printers that show up but don't print. When this first started, the printer showed up as "Printing" though nothing was happening. Then, a bit later, and now "In use" in System Prefs, but still nothing. I've unplugged the one I'm waiting on now, replugged, no go. I've put the job on Hold, then resumed, no go. I've put the printer on Pause/Resume Printing, still not working.
Worked yesterday just fine. Is this a MobileMe is History issue perhaps?

Sorry, spoke too soon. For those looking (though it didn't help in my case, it might in yours), Airport Express>Base Station>Manual Set up> tab for MobileMe, I just deleted my MobMe account altogether. Not sure if I did that prior to a reboot, though, so I'll try rebooting the whole TC and the DSL router ahead of it and report back.
Meanwhile, anyone finding any solutions out there? **** frustrating to not have the use of printers that I depend on for my work.

  • Accessing Time Capsule via MobileMe

Just bought the newest version of Time Capsule. Can't figure out how to access it via MobileMe. I went into the capsule settings in airport utility and put in my password for mobileme login info. Also, back to my mac is turned on. Still, I don't see my time capsule in MobileMe.
    Am I missing something?

Are you trying to find it by visiting the MobileMe web site? It won't show up there.
This feature simply makes it show up in your Finder's sidebar under Shared when you are remote.

  • Time Capsule + Airport Express (no password for extended guest network)

    Hi guys,
I´m using at home an Time Capsule combined with an Airport Express for extended range.
I´ve activated the Guest Network on the Time Capsule, using an WPA2 Password for it.
Problem is, the Airport Express is extending both the regular network and the guest network, but there´s no password set for the extended guest network.
So basically there are 4 networks, 3 are properly secured (TC regular and guest and AE regular) but I can´t set a password for the Guest Network that´s being extended by the Airport Express.
I have looked everywhere on the AirPort Utility with no luck whatsoever.
I appreciate any help on this.
    Kainan-Maki.

Time Capsule and Airport Express, Windows 7
So you don't have a Mac or even iOS device to setup the TC and express?
This addition of extending guest is new in later firmware.. but you need the 6.2 utility to control it.. AFAIK.

  • I can not sign in to my live mail and every time I get the" incorrect password " message.

Hi, I am trying to open my live mail but every time get this message "incorrect password please sign in again". I will appreciate if anyone knows the answer to this.thanks

    Hello there, Ruby_01.
Being able to to send and receive email is definitely an important feature of the iPhone.  The following Knowledge Base article provides some great steps for troubleshooting your issue:
iOS: Unable to send or receive email
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899
    Particularly:
If you are unable to send or receive email, try the following steps:
    Restart the iOS device.
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage to ensure that the device has Internet access. If you're unable to load a webpage, try the Wi-Fi assistant.
    Try an alternative Internet connection.
If your email is provided by your Internet provider, try connecting from the home network.
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, try to disable Wi-Fi:  TapSettings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If not, try a different Wi-Fi network.
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Delete the account from Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then add the email account again on the iOS device.
If you're still unable to send or receive email, contact your email provider and verify the account settings are correct. You will need to gather this information (PDF).
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Time Capsule gives MobileMe/Apple ID password error after adding Express

I have a 1st Gen Time Capsule at the top of my network plugged into my cable modem.  I just purchased one of the new Airport Expresses to extned my network.
I plugged the Airport Express in and used the iOS "Airport Utility" app to set it up.  The utility (both on the the iOS and on my Mac) show the new Airport Express with a green light and connected.  However, my Time Capsule now has a warning error with an orange light.
On the iOS device, it says "Unrecognized Apple ID or password--An Apple ID or password is incorrect.  Enter the correct Apple ID and password and try again."  Of course, on the iOS, there's no way to enter it, so I went to the Mac's Airport Utility (I have both 5.6 and 6.0, but I used 5.6).  On the Mac's Airport Utility, the error says that the MobileMe member name or password is incorrect.  (Note, wireless continues to work--I just have the error).
Since the Mac's utility asks to correct the MobileMe username/password, I type those in and let it update.  I know that I am typing the correct username/password, but the error continues to occur.  I could click "ignore this issue" on the iOS Airport Utility and all lights so green, but the issue shouldn't be there to begin with.  I'd like to figure out what is causing the error.  Is there another location that I should be entering the information?
I do have a separate Apple ID, but it's asking for my MobileMe credentials (which migrated over to iCloud).
It's bizarre that the NEW device has no errors and my wireless is still working.  But the original Time Capsule which was working fine with no errors, now has an error after adding the new device.

Crazy, but attempting to fix the information in Airport Utility 6.0 worked fine--but it wouldn't work in AU 5.6.
It does seem odd that I couldn't attempt to fix the username/password issue from within the iOS app to begin with.  It told me what the error was, but didn't seem to give me a place to edit the information.

  • Has ANYONE been successful in accessing their Time Capsule via mobileme???

I have set my mobileme user name and password on both of my Time Capsules yet I have not been able to see either one from anywhere other than from within my network.
Perhaps I am missing a simple step but I don't think so.
Just wondering how others have fared with this.
I am using a new and updated time capsule that I just purchased and the other was purchased in September. All firmware updates are done as well.
    Thanks in advance to all.

I up dated my Time capsule with 7.4.1 and I can see my Time Capsule with no problems on my mobileme, I have a problem keeping my network up with the new update. The Time Capsule looses the internet and network after an hour or two after the updated and new to be upluged and pluged back in to get the network back and the internet, when go back to 7.3.2 the system works fine by I am not able to see my Time Capsule on the Mobileme, but it does show on my network and I can access on the network, I am asked to update the Time Capsule because it keep opening the update window.

PS does anyone else have this problem.

  • Time Capsule and Hard Drive Password on a PC

I have been using my Time Capsule with a PC for some time now and it works perfectly but I have one gripe. Every time I switch on my computer and the backup program runs I have to enter the password for the hard drive (not the network password) in the time capsule. Does anyone know if you can switch off the password?
I only have to enter the password once, if I leave the computer on you don't have to enter it again to access the hard drive on the time capsule.

I believe you can just open the airport utility, enter manual setup, and click on the disc tab, then click on sharing, on the secure disk dialog box select with accounts.

  • Why does my time capsule not recognize the password when trying to connect Apple TV, iPhone 4s or Canon printer

I have tried to set up my wireless as before but the Time Capsule only recognizes my Macbook.  I have used the correct password but nothing is happening except an error message.  This should have been simple so what is the glitch.

Not sure.. but I strongly recommend you start over.
Use all names that comply with new Apple standard protocol .. ie SMB.. which means the names recommended in the airport utility are WRONG.. do not use them.
That is especially important for the printer.
SHORT.. names should be 10characters or less.. if you can manage it.. 20 at most.
    NO SPACES..
PURE ALPHANUMERIC... no apostrophe, no other illegal characters.
So call the TC .. TCgenx (x I replace with the actual generation of the product).
    Wireless name.. TCwifi
Use only wireless passwords that also comply.. only a bit longer is ok.. 10-20 characters is usually plenty.. no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
    No luck.. do some more.
Set wireless names for the two bands to different values.. eg.. TC24ghz and TC5ghz
    Leave off the security..
    Test 2.4ghz band at channels 11, 6, 1
Once it works put the security back on.

  • Time Capsule and its many passwords...

    Hello,
Can someone explain what the different passwords are for the Time Capsule in the Windows version of the Airport Utility?
Under the "Time Capsule" tab is a "Time Capsule Password" which I'm assuming is for access to the Time Capsule for making administration changes?
Under the "Wireless" tab is a "Wireless Password" which should be for access to the wireless network.
Under the "File Sharing" tab is "Secure Shared Disks" with either a "Disk Password" or a "Device Password" and I'm a bit confused here. Would the "Disk Password" be a unique password? Is the "Device Password" the same as the "Time Capsule Password" then?

I have installed a 2T Time Capsule and want to set up Time Machine. I am asked to enter the name and password of the server "(name of Time Capsule)" but no combination of names and passwords works. What name does it want?
Launch AirPort Utility and do a "Manual Setup". Select the "Disks" pane and click on the "File Sharing" view. That's where you declare how that disk will be accessed.
Also I want to extend my network using an Airport Express but the Time Capsule and the Express will not come up on Airport Utilities at the same time. Should they work together?
I've had similar trouble with that in the past. It's required multiple resets and sometimes selecting the Express from the AirPort menu. One thing I've never tried that might help you would be to connect to the Express via Ethernet during the configuration process.
Be sure to set the Time Capsule to "Allow this network to be extended" and be sure to use the identical settings for network name, security type, and password on both units.

  • Is it possible to run my 2013 Time Capsule with no wireless password?

I just bought a 2013 Time Capsule router to replace my first gen Time Capsule
Will this thing let me run it with no security?
I prefer to run my home network without any password so my guests and friends can use it.
I know it's not recommended but I have never had a problem in 15 years.

You are using the wrong setting.
Click Cancel to get out of AirPort Utility without making any changes.
    Then, follow these instructions exactly.
Open AirPort Utility again, click on the Time Capsule icon and click Edit
    Click the Wireless tab
Change the setting for Wireless Security to None
Click Update to save the changes

  • Remote Connection to Time Capsule via MobileMe

Bit of a double topic post here but it's generally aimed at the Time Capsule:
I have a home network and I want to be able to access the Time Capsule either from work or pretty much anywhere. I use the TC to store music and video so I was just wondering how easy it was to set it up like an iDisc? I have files I need on my MobileMe account, but with the 1Gb file limit I cannot send movies to my MobileMe account.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers!

not sure if this answers your question. I am trying to do the same thing. Found this article. Basically, it's easier if you have a mobileme account.

  • Time Capsule claims to be out of space

I have 125 GB to back up using Time Machine, using a 500 GB Time Capsule. It tells me there is not enough space on the disk. (But Time Machine is supposed to erase old backups as needed.) What should I do?
    --Henri

What I did, which seems to have worked, was use Airport Utility to erase the Time Capsule disk. (I learned how to do it in another discussion on this site.) So far, Time Machine seems back to normal.

  • Password for encrypted backup on Time Capsule never asked

    Hello,
My system is Mac OS 10.8.3 on a MacBook Pro.
I do encrypted backups with Time Machine on a Time Capsule.
I wonder why I am never asked the password I chose when encrypting for the first time, especially when I do "Enter Time Machine".
As a comparison, I also have external disks formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)".
When I connect such an external disk to my laptop, before it is mounted I am asked the password I chose when formatting, which sounds good.
    Thanks

When you originally set up the Time Capsule, you were asked to establish a Time Capsule or Base Station "device" password, which is stored in KeyChain Access on your Mac.
Rather than have to enter the Time Capsule Base Station device password each time that you access the device, KeyChain Access on your Mac remembers the password and enters it for you when your Mac connects to the Time Capsule.
If you do not want KeyChain Access to remember your password, and you do want to be asked to enter the password each time that you connect to the Time Capsule disk, then change the password using AirPort Utility and remove the check mark next to "Remember this password in my keychain" in AirPort Utility. Then, click Update to save the new settings.
It is much easier to let KeyChain Access remember your password on your Mac, but you can do it all manually if you wish.  Remember that other users will not be able to access the Time Capsule disk unless you have given the device password to them.

  • Time Capsule won't accept my user name and password for access - Help!

    Hi all,
My Time Capsule seemed to stop working one day and I had to do a hard reset with the little button at the back. After that it worked and I restored my wireless network settings but now I can't access the Time Capsules hard drive with Time Machine.
When I try to choose it as my Backup Disk in the Time Machine preferences it says "Enter your user name and password so Time Machine can access the file server "Our Time Capsule" (the name of my time capsule). However, every time I try to enter my password I get "Sorry, you entered an invalid username or password".
I've already tried several resets of the Time Capsule and I've also tried logging on my computer as the Root user and changing my administrator account password back and forth but no go.
    Help! and Thanks.

    Norman & Harry,
    Consider the following:
*_Time Capsule Keeps Asking Me For a Password_*
It will be important to know what is going on, or what you are doing when it asks for the password. Is it asking for a password only when Time Machine attempts a backup? Consider this:
It is NOT your username and password it wants when you try accessing the Time Capsule. (I know... it SAYS "username and password") But it means the Time Capsule's Name and Password.
You will find that by launching Airport Utility.
Select the TC on the left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
    Click the "Time Capsule" Tab.
You will see "Time Capsule Name:" and "Time Capsule Password".
Make sure “Remember password in keychain" is checked.
That is the information you need to enter when it asks for "username & password."
*I Don’t Remember What My Time Capsule Password Is*
You can see what your current TC password is by going into Keychain.
Open your Keychain and select "login" from the Keychains pane in the top left. Highlight "Passwords" in the Category pane from the lower left.
Sort all the items by Kind. Note everything labeled "Airport...". How many do you have listed? There should only be one "Airport base station password" for each base station that you have active. Also, there should only be one "Airport network password" for each network you have created. If there are more than these, then delete all but the ones with the most recent Modification date.
To see what passwords are being stored, double-click your Time Capsules' entry. A new window will appear.
Put a check beside "Show Password". You may be asked for your own Admin password so enter that.
Now the Password field will display the password you entered into Airport Utility for your Time Capsule
*It Still Won’t Accept the TC Name and Password*
Launch Airport Utility --> Manual Setup.
Select "Disks" in the tool bar above.
    Click the "File Sharing" tab.
Is "File Sharing" checked? It should be.
What is selected beside "Secure Shared Disks"? If it says "With Accounts" or "With a Disk Password" then the system will ask you for a password every time it mounts the TC hard disk. If you switch it to "With Time Capsule Password" then use the password you designated earlier in the “Time Capsule" tab. It should only ask you once and then never again - because you had checked "Remember password in keychain".
If you have made any changes then click "Update".
Let us know if this resolves your issue.
    Cheers!

  • Setting up brand new Time Capsule and it asks for a Password????

Okay, so I'm attempting to setup my girlfriend's new Time Capsule with her brand new MacBook Pro but when I access Airport Utility and it tells me there's a problem with the Time Capsule accessing the internet, I then click to continue to troubleshoot the Time Capsule and it asks for a password. Now, the Time Capsule has never been used before and is fresh out of the box. WHy is there a password? I will say this detail:
That the brand new MacBook Pro that she recently purchased, she had all over her old data and files and settings transferred from her old MacBook. I don't know if that means that it automatically installed a password or anything, but I tried using the computer administrator password and that didn't work. ANyone have any idea what's going on?

jkwells84, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sometimes it does help to read some documentation. Like most routers, the Time Capsule has an admin password to keep others from being mischievous and changing your settings.
The default admin password is "public."
