Time Capsule iCloud

Bonjour,
Est-il possible d'accéder à une Time Capsule à partir de iCloud en dehors de son réseau domicile?
Merci

I have three TCs in three locations around the world and need access to them all wherever I happen to be.  I have been using MobileMe for this, but since the upgrade to iCloud access has been removed.  However, I have found two solutions: 1) an app called FileBrowser will still access the TCs on iPhone and iPad.  Yesterday I used it to e-mail a document from a remote TC back to me.
The other method is to use the Go>Connect to Server function in Finder. If you know the public IP address of the router to which the TC is connected, enter afp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (replacing x with the address) in the Server Address field in the pop-up box, and you will be presented with sign-in box.  Sign in with username and password of the TC and it should appear in the left-hand pane of Finder.  If you use a dynamic IP service such as dyndns.com you can enter that instead of the actual IP.
Good luck! This works perfectly for me.

  • How do I access Time Capsule Remotely with iCloud?

Before, with MobileMe, I was able to backup and access my Time Capsule anywhere in the world because I had my MobileMe login stored in my Time Capsule, and my MobileMe entered into my mac.
So when I was at home it would backup through the local network and when remote it did it through the internet.
Once upgrading to iCloud this broke (even though I entered my iCloud info into the time capsule).
Apple apparently fixed this with an update:
The latest Airport Base Station Update 7.6.1 "provides support for remote access to an AirPort disk or a Time Capsule hard drive with an iCloud account."
However, I'm still unable to do it. Is there instructions some where on how to do it with the latest Airport Utility / iCloud?
Note, yes I could do it with port forwarding but that would require that I have a static IP and like most all residential users I don't have a static IP and can't afford to pay 180+ for a business account to have one. And yes, you can use something like DynDNS but that only works if you have an extra computer at home and that its always on. I only have one machine and its my laptop that I bring with me. MobileMe acted like a DynDNS on the Airport to make Back2Mac work and supposively iCloud should do the same.
Also in Airport Utility next to my iCloud login it shows a green icon (so it's connected).
    Thanks in advance!

There is some new info posted by apple.. and links to more setup as well.

I haven't done it.. as I refuse to move to Lion while the networking is so kludgy.

  • Help, I need to use my Time Capsule and iCloud more efficiently for memory!!

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro.  It is running low on memory.  I finally broke down and purchased an Aiprort Time Capsule yesterday.  I was able to back up and everything ran smoothly.  Now that I have done this, I am hoping someone can help me figure out how to remove some items from my laptop to free up some memory.  I had 6 movies in my itunes that I deleted (saved on an external hard drive a few days ago) and yet I still seem to have a large percentage of movie memory taken up.  Although, maybe it is some tv shows I have in itunes.  Along with the Time Capsule I also have 15 GB of iCloud memory which I am using almost 10 GB.  I have 98.87GB free of 319.21 GB on my laptop.  I know it isnt terrible, but I would really like to open up some space as I tend to add a lot of pics and music to my computer.  We have an iPad, 2 iphones and an itouch and appletv that are all using space and I seem to be running out of space on my ipad and iphone as well.  So, I would love to be able to put my music and tv shows and pics on my time capsule or something...Not sure.  If anyone has any ideas that would be great on my computer or for that matter my ipad since I just keep removing items!  Thanks!!

The best thing for you to do, in my opinion, is to:
    Buy a larger internal drive - I recommend the Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 - 1 terabyte, 7200 rpm & SATA III negotiated speeds for your model, and;
invest in some more external storage. 1 terabyte drives are common and cheap. You may want to get a larger drive (I use two LaCie 2big Thunderbolt drives - one 4 terabytes, the other 8 terabytes. I also have four HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1 terabyte drives that I use for cloning my internal drive).
Buying the larger internal drive should be your first step. Adding additional external storage can come later.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Time Capsule timeouts when accessing secure web pages, downloading apps, backing up to iCloud, etc.

Last week I upgraded my broadband connection to fibre, requiring me to install a different router because the Draytek one I had in place was not suitable, so I went for a Time Capsule.  My other devices are a 13” MacBook Air, an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4.
Web browsing performance was immediately fantastic, with consistent readings on the Mac of 12ms ping, 35Mbps+ download speed and 1.5Mbps+ upload speed.  One oddity I did notice when running a speed test (using speedtest.net), but which I didn’t think about much at the time, is the time taken between finishing the download test and starting the upload test.  In my previous experience there would be only a few seconds between them, but on my new fibre connection through Time Capsule it takes anything from 30 seconds to a minute for the upload test to begin.
However, a few days ago I tried to download some app updates in iTunes to the Mac, but after a wait I received a message that the network connection had timed out.  I tried again multiple times and each time the result was the same.
I then Googled the problem to see what might be causing it, but I found I was not able to access any results from the Apple Support Communities pages because the browser would time out with a network connection error, or they would take an absolute age to load. Subsequently, I have also discovered that I cannot backup my iOS devices to iCloud (it tries for ages and then says there was an error), I cannot log in to any online accounts (the browser eventually times out with a network connection error) and I cannot send email from the mailbox that syncs with my work Exchange account.  I have also realised that the Apple Support Communities pages are secure, so the common theme seems to be there is a problem accessing anything that requires security/authentication/encryption.
This is not a Wi-Fi issue as it is the same when I switch off Wi-Fi on the MBA and attach it to the router via an Ethernet cable.
It is also not a Mac/iPad issue, as both function normally on my work Wi-Fi network.
I have reached the end of my limited technical tether, so does anybody have any suggestions please?

    Hi,
Many thanks for taking the time to respond.
Bizarrely, after more than a week of problems and time wasted in trying to resolve them, I arrived home from work today to find that everything is working perfectly. The network is exactly as it has been all week and when I called my ISP they said they had changed nothing on the line, so it's a complete mystery.
I'm happy it's working, but it would have been nice to understand what caused the problem, just in case it happens again.
Anyway, thanks again and sorry for wasting your time.

  • ICloud, MobileMe, Back To My Mac, and remote Time Capsule inconsistencies

I just upgraded one of my two computers to 10.7 (a little late - was hoping to avoid a problem - oh well).
After the upgrade I updated my local Time Capsule with the "new" Back To My Mac feature via Airport Utility as requested.
However, when attempting to connect to my remote TC it is not visable in Airport Utility of in the Finder Sidebar under "Shared" since it is still using the "old" BTMM through MobileMe. I can confirm this since my seoncd computer is still using 10.6 and can connect fine to this remote TC via the "old" BTMM.
I want to upgrade the second computer to 10.7, but then I will not have access to the remote TC in order to reset it's BTMM from the "old" to the "new" version of BTMM. Yes, I could go and get my remote TC (used for off-site backups), bring it home, connect it to my local LAN, update it, then return it to it's remote location - but should I have to if BTMM is a feature of 10.7 and iCloud? Has anybody else resolved such an issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    More info:
Both TCs are running the latest firmware (7.6.1)
Using both Airport Utility 6.0 and 5.6 (5.4 on the 10.6 Mac)

If this is the drive I back up to, will my Macbook back up to the drive over the net using Back to my Mac when I am not at home?
I would guess that you could find a 3rd party application which would be able to backup to a remote drive.
Although Time Machine might do that, the problem is that Time Machine would see the drive accessed locally (while connected to your local LAN) and the drive accessed remotely (via Back to My Mac) a two completely separate drives. Therefore (if Time Machine allows this) a backup done locally would have no impact to a backup done remotely.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 13" and am using Airport Time Capsule and iCloud. I delete my cookies all the time, but every so often the cookies reappear after rebooting. It is the exact same amount of cookies each time, so I wonder why they're being reloaded?

I have a MacBook Pro 13" (2010) running OS X 10.9.2   and have Airport Time Capsule. I routinely delete my cookies and often (every couple days or so) when I reboot, a number of cookies reappear in my Safari settings. The number of cookies that reappear is exactly the same when it does it (351 cookies) so I'm wondering if it is related to my Airport Time Capsule or possibly iCloud? How do the cookies get back into my MacBook Pro? Or.... Have they ever actually left? Befoer I reboot, I delete them and sometimes they stay gone for 24hrs or more, but then reappear the next time I reboot. Can someone tell me if there is a way to clear the cookies so they won't come back?

Blocking all cookies in Safari does not work. Deleted cookies will not stay deleted. There are numerous threads on this going back years, both in these forums and elsewhere. Many claim to have submitted the issue to Apple, but I have never seen anyone post a reply.
I have seen many suggested fixes that involve finding the cookies file, some including Terminal manipulations, and none seems to work universally. I can find noplace where Apple addresses this officially with an actual Apple-approved explanation or how-to.
Bottom line, your browser's security features should do what they claim: delete cookies. When they come back without ever even visiting another page, this is clearly not working in the way a reasonable user would expect.
Bottom line, Safari does not protect users' privacy in the way it pretends to and, after so many years of this issue, it appears that Apple wants it this way.
Having spent way too much time on this, I realize the choice is between Safari which is pretty well optimized; Firefox which is a lot pokier, at least for me; and Chrome, which I assume funnels personal information directly to Google.

  • How do I retrieve my calendar from time capsule. I inadvertently deleted it through icloud.

I had changed my Apple password which prompted icloud to ask for it. I entered the new password then got a message from icloud with two choices. I obviously picked the wrong one because it deleted all entries from my calendar. Now I need to get the calendar back intact but don't want to take any chances with the copy on my time capsule. So, I need help going through the steps to bring the calendar back from the time capsule at about 3:00PM yesterday. Thank you.
I have tried going to time capsule, mac hd, my user account and then the library folder but after that I do not see calendar.

Restore the backup when given the option during the iPhone setup process.  If your phone is already set up, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • Access files stored in Time Capsule via iCloud

how to access files stored in Time Capsule via iCloud

Yes, you can remotely access files in the TC..
Did you read the apple instructions and do them??
    http://www.apple.com/au/support/icloud/back-to-my-mac/
It does depend on the main router being upnp or NAT-PMP capable.. so the best is if the TC is the main router.. otherwise you may have to manually forward the ports.

  • Time capsule stuck restoring iPhoto library from iCloud drive

I bought a new macbook pro. I used Airport Extreme Time Capsule to upload everything from old mac to new mac. Everything worked fine except on thing. My iPhoto library wouldn't transfer. It showed up in the new iCloud drive with a cloud and an arrow pointing down. I then tried to restore a previous version from time capsule (again it had been stored in iCloud drive), but it has been stuck on "copying "iPhoto library.photolibrary" to "cloud drive"" for many many hours. My iCloud drive has 190GB free and my iPhoto library is 20GB. Can anyone figure out what is wrong.

You don't remember what the message was?  Not even roughly?
Hint: when you get an error message, take a screenshot of it so you'll know what it says.
My network is just a wireless ADSL Router connecting my Mac & TC. If I want to connect via ethernet cable, do I need to connect TC with Router?
Either connect both your Mac and the TC via Ethernet, or connect them directly.
because connecting Mac & TC did not work.
What do you mean?  What happened?  Error messages?  If so, what?
Can I connect using the ethernet cable now while the restore is on to speed up the restore?
Yes.   Once it's connected, and on, make sure Ethernet is above WIFI in System Preferences > Network.  That will insure that OSX will use Ethernet when both are active.
If it isn't, click the "gear" icon at the bottom and select Set Service Order.  On the next window, drag Ethernet to the top.

    Hey jamesarm97 & diegofoto,
On August 21st, some users may have been unable to access iCloud services for a short period of time. Apple worked quickly to resolve these issues, however you two may have experienced them. To check the current status of these systems please see:

  • How to remotely access Time Capsule using iCloud and firmware 7.6.1?

I have just applied the new Time Capsule 7.6.1 firmware that supposedly enables remote access to the drive via iCloud. However, how precise would this work?
I have read several other threads here and elsewhere but they either explain how to do this using MobileMe or DynDNS.
How precisely does iCloud now translate my internal IP to an external one and where do I access my drive in OSX when on the road?

Really pretty simple.  That's if you've got the Time Capsule and your Computer set up correctly.
    Time Capsule setup:
    1.    Open Airport Utility
1a.  Open Time Capsule Base Station tab
1b.  Put iCloud NAME in "Back to My Mac"
1c.  Enter Password, then wait for activation (less than 1 minute normally)
1d.  Open Time Capsule Disks tab
1e.  Check mark "Enable file sharing"
1f.   Check mark "Share disk over WAN"
    1h.  Password self explanitory
    Computer (Mac)
    1.   Open iCloud in System Preferences
    2.   Put a check mark on "Back to My Mac", wait for actication (less than 1 minute normally)
Connecting to Time Capsule Disk from you HOME network or outside your home network ((INTERNET))
In order to connect to Time Capsule Disk off your local (home) network you must have an internet connection, if you do then do this:
    1.  Open Finder
    2.  In Finder open Shared if collapsed and double click on your Time Capsule name.
    3.  Double click your Time Capsule, enter password (if you required).
    4.  Once connected to your Time Capsule double click on your Disk to mount it enter password (if your required).
    5.  Done,  remember the connection speed is dependent on your internet quality (broadband vs dial-up).

  • Back up iCloud in stead of in Time Capsule

Is it nessessary to continue back-up processing on time capule now I've started working in iCloud and using iCloud back-up?

My question is, if the time capsule is formatted in HFS and the laptop is formatted in NTFS, how does it back up to the time capsule drive, without reformatting?
The Time Capsule is a network drive, so PCs will "see" the drive as if it were formatted in FAT32, which is a Windows format.
Also, how do you restore the windows computer from the time capsule back up if needed without reformatting?
The backup software.....Macrium Reflect in your case.....will take care of this for you.
