Time Capsule not appearing during re-install?

I've decided to reinstall my computer for the first time with time machine and my time capsule.
So i put the 10.5 install dvd and went to utilities and selected restore from backup.
It then goes onto searching for backups window but nothing appears?
My Time Capsule is connected via ethernet, should it not appear there so i can connect to it?
Or do i need to do something else?

Time capsule not appearing in airport utility

I'm trying to connect my Time Machine to my Sagecom F@st 2864 wireless router to use it in time machine. However, airport utility does not see the time machine. What's weird is that when I brought it in to the apple store it appeared to work.
Any ideas? I tried connecting it through both the WAN and LAN ports in the router and both don't work

AirPort Utility only works with Apple devices. Using that device with Time Machine is unsupported and should be expected to result in total data loss eventually.
Apple has published a specification for network devices that work with Time Machine. None of the third-party NAS vendors, as far as I know, meets that specification. They all use the incomplete, obsolete Netatalk implementation of Apple Filing Protocol.
If you want network backup, use as the destination either an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or to an 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only the 802.11ac base stations support Time Machine, not any older model.
Otherwise, don't use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to back up, though none of them is anywhere near as efficient or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.
If you're determined to use the NAS with Time Machine, your only recourse for any problems that result is to the manufacturer (which will blame Apple, or you, or anyone but itself.)

Time Capsule not appearing in airport utilities

Hi all,
I have been using my time capsule as a wireless base station and back up volume for over a year. Yesterday it just stopped working. The light is green, but I can't find it in airport utility. I tried resetting it and now a new volume is showing up but it says it is an airport extreme base station not a time capsule, and it requires a password that I don't have. Any ideas?

Just so I understand correctly, here you are referring to the process of trying to establish a wireless connection with the Time Capsule from a computer, correct?
First, restart the computer to see if that helps.
Do you recall what Radio Mode you chose for your wireless network? Was it a compatible mode such as 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) that would allow most devices to connect?
Some older devices may not be able to handle the WPA/WPA2 Personal security settings that the TC uses by default. Can you provide a bit more info on the device that you are trying to connect to the Time Capsule?

Time capsule not working properly after moving to a new house

Hello,
I have a macbook pro and a refurbished time capsule 2tb. I purchased both in 2013 and the time capsule at that time was used as both a wireless router for our house and my back up.I recently moved and didn't have access to the time capsule for over a month. Once I settled into the new house I plugged the power cable and internet connection into the time capsule and assumed that automatically it would keep working. It appears that it is backing up my system as I can pull up the application and see appropriate in-time documents however it consistently has a slow orange light blinking. I am not currently using it as a router as we have xfinity and have a different router for the house and when I try to use the time machine instead it cannot connect.
My internet connection is fine and I would like to leave it as is. It also appears the back up function is working for my mac. The question is, does the orange blinking light matter and or is it indicating that I am improperly using the machine? It it because the ethernet cable is attached and can the time capsule work without this?
I have tried resetting the capsule with the 10seconds hold on the reset button etc as seen on other posts but the orange light remains.

The question is, does the orange blinking light matter and or is it indicating that I am improperly using the machine?
The amber light is like the "Check Engine" light in your car. It blinks for a reason......the Time Capsule has a message for you.
That message might be that there is a firmware update available for the Time Capsule that needs to be installed....or....that AirPort Utility has detected that the Time Capsule is not configured correctly to work with the Xfinity router that you are now using.
To see the message.....open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the amber dot
Then look for a Status setting, and click on the small amber dot there
A message will appear to tell you why the Time Capsule is whining, along with a suggested action to fix the issue.
If you are still having difficult, we for you to post back with the exact message that you see.

Can't get Time Capsule to appear in AirPort Utility

Have been mucking with my new Time Capsule and somewhere during that process have done something which is preventing Time Capsule from appearing in my AirPort utility which is frustrating as **** cause now I can't change any of its settings.
I'm within range. Have attempted to connect via wireless and ethernet. Have turned on and off several times. Have reset it with the pin hole at the back.
The wireless network it is currently configured to host will appear after a reset in my wireless menu. But will still not appear in AirPort utility.
How do I get Time Capsule to re appear in AirPort utility so that I can properly configure it.

Have you followed the steps on page 30 of your TC Setup Guide?
Did you do a factory reset?

Time is not appearing in iCal

I am facing unique problem and i don't know how to fix it. In my ical, time is not appearing in the calendar for all the views(Day,Week, Month). Rather only Sat is appearing on the left side bar. In the Sidebar, 2010, All Day, then Sat is appearing in the place of Time. Which leads to lots of problems for me. I can't sent an invite for a particular of time. Even old events does not show time.
Please let me know on how to fix this issue.

I've got this problem as well. My left hand column (to the left of the days in Week view or to the left of the day in Day view) is just white with no hour references.
In Week view, for example, it's a white column with (in this case) '2010', then a keyline, then 'all-day', then a thick grey line, then just white space where you'd expect to see 1.00am, 2.00am etc.
I've just had a Leopard (10.5.8) install from Tiger (10.4.11) and it's been like this since start-up.

No errors in error console. No effect using *. I tried using the dns name of my localhost both in the Firefox URL and in the javascript and I get exactly the same. I have spent a huge amount of time looking into this issue.
One thing I noticed is that if I use the examples on the internet (http://arunranga.com/examples/access-control/preflightInvocation.html or http://saltybeagle.com/cors/) they work in the same browser. These examples however, are accessed through HTTP proxies.
I am wondering if the issue has to do with using the same hostname just with different ports.

You need OS X 10.7.5 or later. Most likely you can upgrade OS X on your iMac. You already have 10.6.8 and access to the App Store. If your computer qualifies to run Mavericks, then that is what you would upgrade to, otherwise, you would upgrade to Lion.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Airport time capsule not found error message

HI,
My time capsule is blinking orange.
I open aiport, sometimes airport finds the TC, sometimes not.
When not, get message:
"airport time capsule not found"
When TC is found, aiport utitily shows an error with the extended network I am setting up. I press 'edit', the settings all seem good. Re-type passwords etc and update.
The problem remains.
I have updated the firmware. An apple shop near me has reset TC using the recessed button on back of TC, and then I have re-configured at home.
BTW, TC was working fine in my old house with same laptop, so prob not simply a basic user issue...
4 other devices on my wifi network all have reliable connection, visitors' phones and laptops too, so shouln't be a wifi netowrk issue, ie network outside TC.
Any thoughts out there?

OK.. I failed to ask enough questions.. I think your comment it all used to work threw me.
1. You are trying to extend wireless network of what router. This will only work with another Apple router.. the way apple built it is in the family only. So please spell out what is the primary router??
If you did have it working to extend the wireless of a non-apple router in your previous house I simply don't know how.. according to Apple it isn't possible. You can use WDS.. that is slow and reduces everything to G wireless.. that is the only way.
2. When you say in the first post..

I presume if you turn off the TC, these devices still have wireless network because they are connected to the primary router.. not the TC.. again my bad reading.. I assumed they are connected to the TC.

And how was it setup in your old place and how is it different now.

I have just bought an airport time capsule and im trying to install an airport utility. I tried the 6 version but it wd not load because it said might mac would not support. I then tried the 5.6.1. and it said it would not work with airport capsule.

2. I have BT home hub 2. I presume I cannot bypass this as the internet router? I bought the time capsule for its capability to back up . The router was a byproduct. But am I correct in thinking that it acts as a secondary router or a booster rather than a primary router . I still need the BT homehub?

You should either return the Time Capsule or upgrade your Mac at least to OS X 10.7.

Mountain Lion installed Time Capsule not seen...

After installing Mountain Lion, my Time Capsule does not exist anymore... I use TC as a router, plugged directely to my MacPro, Mac Mini, and a Wi-Fi network to my 2 MacBookPro. After this instalation, I cannot "see" Time Capsule anymore... my iPhone does not accept my wi-fi... my MacBookPros too...
Please what happened? I cannot even creat a new Wi-Fi, because at the system preferences, network, it is no longer there (wi-fi)
The internet itself is working, I do not know how, because the green light in TC is on, I cannot "see" TC but the internet is there... How is it possible? Time Machine also do not exist...

Maybe they were using imprecise terminology. Seems to happen a lot.
You can use Time Capsule without any Internet (WAN, or outside) connection. But you can only reach Time Capsule through a network (LAN, or local) connection - Ethernet or wireless. I guess a lot of people need to learn that "the Internet" and "a network" are not the same thing.

Labview vi controls not appearing during Teststand Editor run time

Hi,
I'm running established sequences (TS3.5) and vi's (LV8.2) in Teststand 4.2 and Labview 2009.
During sequence execution in the Editor environment, vi's are called which display simple yes/no
user controls.
I am finding that when the Labview step is called the controls are only appearing briefly, if at all.
The execution appears to have entered Labview waiting for a control to be operated, but
the only way forward seems to be termination of the sequence.
On termination, the controls immediately appear allowing selection, but on doing so the sequence
does terminate normally.
There are 2 vi's, the 1st is called early and has only shown this problem rarely,
but the 2nd called later in the sequence always displays this problem.
Another vi which displays a progress bar, executes in a separate thread without problems.
We also notice that the additional task on the task bar does not appear as normal when
the vi's are called.
Any ideas why the controls are not displayed until sequence termination, please ?

Make sure you are checking the "Show Front Panel" checkbox on the Module specification panel. Not having that checked is the most likely explanation.
