Time Capsule powered on but no light is on and can't see it in finder.

So yesterday I had to restart my router and after I restarted it the time capsule I couldn't see it in finder. I noticed that it was working but there was not green light or orange on. So i tried to restart it but nothing helped. is there anyone that had the same problem? please help!

Unfortunately, no light on a Time Capsule is almost always a sign of a power supply issue or outright failure.
Unplug the Time Capsule for 20-30 minutes and try to power it back up to see if it the indicator light will at least light up.
If no luck after a few tries, I'm afraid that the Time Capsule has failed and will need to be repaired or replaced.
How old is the Time Capsule?  If it's less than 3 years old, and you have AppleCare in effect on one of your Macs, the Time Capsule is likely covered as well.  Take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store....if you have one in your area....or contact Apple Support directly to discuss your options.

They can provided you remove them from the Exclude list. Normally, Time Machine does not automatically backup external drives.

  • How do I install Adobe Flash Player when each time I try I get a "Light Room" ad and can't proceed from that point?

When I try to download Adobe Flash Player I encounter an advertisement for Light Room and Creative Cloud that I can't get past and the download does not take place --

    Hi
I have successfully installed Flash Player on All Winner Android 4.4.2 100.1" Tablet. You have to use the following link to Archive Flash Player  Archived Flash Player versions and download Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81). It has to be used in conjunction with UC Browser, Dolphin Browser, Boat Browser or any other which supports Flash player & make some changes to settings. It worked for me.

  • 5th gen time capsule powers down unexpectedly

Whether or not time capsule (wi-fi) is being used it just powers down unexpectedly ( 1 to x times a day). Done a reset and made ssid visible but to no avail ( after diagnostic check help list). Also powers down when trying to make a back up to external drive. Starts up without problems when power cable is re-inserted. Doesn't get hot etc. ( thinking problem is a safeguard cut-out thing). Other than that 3 months with no probs but now this?!? Anyone with same situ? Greetz chilly

We have seen a number of reports of the Time Capsule powering down unexpectedly. You should have Apple replace the defective Time Capsule as soon as possible.

  • Time Capsule with HH3 but want to still use HH3 Wi...

    Hi folks,
I'm thinking about getting an Apple Airport Time Capsule (2013 version) but need to check compatability with my HH3 first.
I've seen other posts here regarding TC and HH3 but not specifically for the configuration I want.
I only want to use the TC for backup and do NOT want to use it as a Wifi router.
I want to continue to use my HH3 for my Wifi network (mostly because I dont want to reconfigure all (10) of my computers with a new Wifi password).
I'm thinking the best way to set this up would be to switch OFF the wifi on the TC and connect it directly to the HH3 using an ethernet cable. In that setup would computers connected to the HH3 via Wifi then be able to see the TC?
Or is there a better configuration?

    Hi.
I have a Time Capsule and have it configured in a similar fashion with my HH4. I still use Airport Utility 5.6 and in the Internet section if you set the Internet Connection Sharing to "Off (Bridge Mode)" it will disable DHCP and any device you connect to it will get its IP address from the HH. It will be visible to any other device on the network. As you say by switching off Wireless Mode you can continue using your HH for this, although the wireless capabilities of the time capsule can come in handy. I have used it to set up a "guest" network and I have also used it in WDS mode to use an Airport Express to extend my network to a non wireless device (PVR) rather than using homeplugs.
    Hope this helps.
    Andy.

  • Cannot see Time Capsule for backup but internet perfect A

I've seen other posts about time capsule problems and most talk about wireless dropout and loss of internet connectivity. My situation is almost the reverse:
Full airport strength in menu bar. Full access to internet sites on at least one computer. Cannot see Time Capsule via Airport Utility or in Finder on any computer. Time Machine backups fail (marked as Delayed in menu bar item).
If I reboot (via unplugging) the Time Capsule, it shows up again in Airport Utility and backups are successful. This has happened three times now. I think the first time was prior to upgrading the firmware. The second two times were after the Time Capsule firmware upgrade. In the second two instances, it looks like the backups run for about 12-13 hours, every hour. No problems. Then, they drop out. Yesterday, it ran from 8:30 AM until 9 PM.
I've got two Macs (a Powerbook G4 and a MacBook Pro), each running latest software updates (security, 10.5.2, etc.).
Unplugging (rebooting) my Time Capsule each day is not an option. That's partly why I moved from an ancient LinkSys router that always needed to be rebooted since we lost local and internet access. Any help is much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Drew

Have you set up the TC with user accounts??
Most people just use the TC password..
I have done very little with user accounts on the TC.. it seems fundamentally wrong headed to me.. If you have a domain controller with everyone using accounts to login that is fine.. and the TC would then exist in connection to the domain controller.. but it is a home device and there is no function to all that.
What will happen if you change over to standard security or even turn on the guest account I am too scared to suggest as you may not easily get connection back again.. The TC certainly displays a warning going to accounts.. I am not sure of warnings going away from accounts.
If you didn't setup the TC, do you have admin access to it??
Perhaps I am assuming too much before you tell me everything. But I may suggest things you don't want to try.. unfortunately I cannot say this will work.. the issue is widespread across the Mountain Lion TC combo and I have yet to see Apple suggest a solution or even fess up there is a problem. Daily reboots are just simply now a part of the scene for all windows and Mac users.
Is the TC the main router for the network.. 1 hour is not default lease in the TC and very few people even know how to change it.. standard is 1day. I would consider 1hr adequately short for all arp tables to be kept up to date.. the computer should be seeking new lease at 30min.. ie half lease time.
If the TC is bridged an not controlling the network.. that can contribute to the issue.
Setting a static IP on the TC if it is bridged my help.

My Time capsule A1302 has the yellow light on continuously

A slow, blinking amber light indicates that there is a setting that needs to be checked, or an update may be available for the Time Capsule.
A solid amber light indicates that either the hard drive has failed, or the power supply is having problems. This link may provide some help:

  • Time Capsule backup works but internet doesn't

I use my Time Capsule as my wireless router and while Time Machine seems to backup wirelessly just fine with my MacBook, as of yesterday the wireless router (Airport) portion of the device isn't working. I know my modem is fine because when I connect it directly to my MacBook, my internet service works. I'm just not getting the wireless internet signal through the Time Capsule/Airport device. When I check it with the Airport utility it tells me that my "wi-fi base station does not have a valid IP address. I have no idea how to fix this. The amber light on my Time Capsule is blinking.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks.

    Hi JaschaW,
Can you try to update me with more specific details. The only idea I can think of now, is for you to :
    1) Open System Preferences>Network.
    2) Click on Airport, go to TCP/IP.....check if there's any setting being set to Manual on the IP address part.
OR you can try doing this....
    Shut down your mac.
Switch it on back......now quickly press the Apple Key + the "S" key. Hold it there, until a black screen is prompted. It will prompt you to type a command, in order for you to proceed to boot normally. Do that....after that another prompt....type "exit" without the inverted comma.
Try that....let me know if it works....
    Cheers

  • My time capsule wouldnt let me back up my computer, and when I rebooted it, the light won't turn on at all, is my time capsule dead?

My time capsule said that it couldn't back up my Mac because the backup was already in use, I went to the apple communities, and it said to reboot the time capsule, after I rebooted, the light didn't come on at all and my Mac can't find the network at all. Is my time capsule done? Or will apple fix this?

No light.. no body is at home.. the TC is dead.
    What model is it??
A1xxx (x are numbers) on the base..
eg A1254 Gen 1 A1302 Gen 2 A1355 Gen 3 are moulded into the rubber first line. Gen4 is A1409 and written on the paper label where it always should have been. Gen 5 is the new tall AC model.
If the TC is in warranty ie a Gen4 or Gen5 purchased in the last year Apple will replace it.
If it is more than 1 year Apple might replace it if it is covered by applecare you have on a computer.. this is complex.. ring apple and ask.
Any TC older than 3years is not covered.
Gen1 and Gen2 are prone to dead power supplies. Gen3 and Gen4 prone to board failure. All have the effect you mention.. no lights on.
Let it cool right down.. off for several hours.. then power up again and tell us what the front LED and ethernet LED do during the boot cycle.. if anything.

  • My backup to Time Capsule is taking over 4 million days. How can I shorten the time? I am not able to connect through ethernet. How do I fix this?

My backup to Time Capsule is taking over 4 million days. How can I shorten the time? I am not able to connect through ethernet. How do I fix this?
Not only that but my Mac Pro keep running and does not stop, my Address book has a blue light under it but wont open, the light for my monitor in the bottom right corner wont turn on or off. Please need help...

It sounds like there is an issue with the Mac itself.
Use the verify disk A5 in troubleshooting.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Even if you cannot connect by ethernet, at current location.. you can simply disconnect the TC from the network and bring it to the Mac and plug it in by ethernet. The TC can be reset if you haven't got a suitable current setup (save previous setup before you change it) and run just as backup device.. do the backup and then return it to the network.
If this is just a standard incremental backup.. then something has broken. The issue is not the TC pe se but failure in hardware somewhere.

  • I have a Time Capsule on which I back up 2 MacBooks and on my wife's machine she keeps having Airport Utility popping up all the time with a yellow button flashing on the left and a Red button on the right side with a "1" in the middle of it.

I have a Time Capsule on which I back up 2 MacBooks and on my wife's machine she keeps having Airport Utility popping up all the time with a yellow button flashing on the left and a Red button on the right side with a "1" in the middle of it. Can any one tell me what is wrong. I read where when the yellow light was flashing there was a problem, but I am a novice at this and have no idea where to turn. It seems to be backing up on a regular basis.

    On the Mac......
Open up Macintosh HD > Applicatons > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the small window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Change the setting for Router Mode from the current DHCP and NAT to read Off (Bridge Mode), then click Update at the lower right of the window, and wait a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a green light.
    Then.....very important
Power off the Time Capsule and your Arris modem/router for a few minutes
Start up the Arris first, and let it run a few minutes by itself
Start up the Time Capsule next the same way
Your network will now be correct, and your printing capabilities will improve.
If Time Machine backups do not occur now, post back and we will tackle that next.

  • Using Time Capsule as external hard drive on a PC, and beyond...

I need to achieve two separate things with my new 500GB TC. The first is to send it to a friend on the other side of the country for her to use Time Capsule with her PC as an external hard drive.
I then want to take those files (once sent back to me from CA), and put them on my computer. After that I just want to use Time Capsule with Time Machine, but I'm pretty sure I can figure that set-up out.
My question is, is this possible? And if so, what is the easiest process to tell my PC friend in order for her to connect Time Capsule as an external?
The reason I am attempting to do this is because I didn't see a need to buy an external and TC as well. The guy at the Mac store said it would be easy to do this, but I'm rather computer illiterate.
That being said, I apologize for my ignorance in regards to the use of Time Capsule, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Brody M. Nasse

Well, you just hook the Time Capsule up (either wirelessly or wired via ethernet) and for the PC you will want to install AirPort Utility, run it, and then she will be able to copy files to it. Then when it gets back to you you can run AirPort Utility (it is located in Applications/Utilities) and then access the files she put on your Time Capsule.

Sorry we are unclear as to the external hard drive and its connection to the TC..
For instance the light that blinks.. is that the TC or external hard disk or what.
Did you try just rebooting / restart the whole network in correct order.. modem.. router / TC.. external drive.. clients with 2min gap between each.
Are you actually running Snow Leopard as the profile states?
    How old is the TC?
