Time capsule remote access message from airport utility "An error occurred while reading the configuration"

WHEN I TRY TO ACCESS Time capsule remotely, I receive a  message from airport utility "An error occurred while reading the configuration." It worked before on the same computer with the same setting. I am in a different country now (Afghanistan). Not sure if that can be an issue.

If the TC is at home and in router mode as the main router of the network, get someone at home to give you the current public IP which will be on the summary page of the airport utility.
With the public IP try and access it by typing the IP directly into finder.. go.. connect to server.
AFP://publicip.
If you have setup WAN access it will. Otherwise no.
For BTMM and iCloud access and its various issues.. this thread may give you some ideas.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3699096?start=0&tstart=0
If the icloud method proves unreliable and you are dependent on access to the TC.. I strongly recommend better and more reliable access methods.. in particular buy a VPN modem or router.. whichever suits your internet type and put the TC in bridge behind it. Direct connect to the TC via the vpn.
You will need either a static public IP which you purchase as an extra from your ISP .. maybe via a business account or setup a dyndns account which are readily available.

    Hi,
We are getting the following error when running our SSIS packages on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11.   A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)
SQL Server Data Tools and SQL Server Database Engine reside on the same server.
    We tried the following:
    Disabling TCP Chimney Offload
    Installed Windows Server 2008 SP1
Splitting our SSIS code into multiple steps so it is not all one large continuous operation
The error occurs during a BulkDataLoad task.
Other options we are investigating with the engineering team (out-sourced, so delayed responses):
Firewall configurations (everything is local, so this should not make a difference)
    Disabling the anti-virus scanner
Are there other things we can try?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi HenryKwan,
Based on the current information, the issue can be caused by many reasons. Please refer to the following tips:
Install the latest hotfix based on your SQL Server version. Ps: there is no SQL Server 2012 R2 version.
Change the MaxConcurrentExecutables property from -1 to another one based on the MAXDOP. For example, 8.
Set "RetainSameConnection" Property to FALSE on the all the connection managers.
    Reference:

If the issue is still existed, as Jakub suggested, please provide us more information about this issue.

  • HT3275 The error message I get with Time Machine is 'Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.' Any idea how I solve this problem?

I am a little perplexed. The Time Machine does seem to be backing up my data but I continually get the following message displayed on my screen 'Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.' I am using a WD My Passport for Mac portable hard disk drive.

    Hi Peter,
    http://pondini.org/TM/C10.html

  • HT3275 How do I correct this problem - Time Machine could not complete back up. An error occurred while creating the backup folder? The problem started on 5th March but I had backed up to an iomega HD since I got my iMac in October.

I have had a problem since 5th March with Time Machine on my iMac. I have had no problem since I got the computer in October backing up to an iomega HD but now I keep getting a message that "Time Machine could not complete the backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder". Anyone know how to correct this?

I had the same "Error creating the backup folder" error - many times over.
I went into the Disk Utility, selected the Backup Disk and ran Verify. It checked out OK. But if not, could have run Repair.
Then did a complete shutdown and restart of the iMac and then tried "Backup Now" from the Time Machine icon's menu - it worked fine.

  • HT3275 what do I do when time machine says: Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder?

I am trying to back up my imac using an external storage: My passport Studio 1TB.  Each time it trys to back up Time machine says: Unable to complete back up. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.  Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks

    Plowie,
Do a search in Discussions, "An error occurred while creating the backup folder."
Many of us are having this problem and no fix has been offered, that I could find.
Unless you call "eject the external HDD; turn off; turn back on" a fix.  That's what I have to do every 2 or 3 days; I even have to "force eject", with the concomitant warning message that you could lose data, etc.

  • Time Machine Issue-Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

As usual, backups worked for a few days.  Failed again on wakeup this morning...
    Starting standard backup
    Backing up to: /Volumes/TM Backup/Backups.backupdb
    Error: (22) setxattr for key:com.apple.backupd.ModelID path:/Volumes/TM Backup/Backups.backupdb/David’s Mac Mini size:10
    Error: (-50) Creating directory 2012-02-25-074454.inProgress
    Failed to make snapshot container.
    Error: (22) setxattr for key:com.apple.backupd.ModelID path:/Volumes/TM Backup/Backups.backupdb/David's Mac Mini size:10
    Backup failed with error: 2
I've searched Discussions and have seen the exact same error messages with all kinds of Macs and ext HDs, both USB and FW.  I can't believe it's a 'failing HD' since it works for a few days; and that it's been going on for months now.  Seems like the ext HD would have actually failed by now if that was the case.
I wish I could figure out why three different errors are reported: (-50), (22), and :2

  • How to resolve Time capsule not being seen in Airport utility?

My Time Capsule cannot be recognized by Airport utility.  I have already tried the soft reset option, but still no luck.
Trying not to do a hard reset, b/c I would prefer not loosing all of the information on the hard drive.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Trying not to do a hard reset, b/c I would prefer not loosing all of the information on the hard drive.
Any type of reset....soft, hard, or Factory Default.....will NOT touch the data on the Time Capsule drive.
You have to perform a completely separate Erase operation if you want to wipe the drive clean.
If you have not already done so, try connecting an Ethernet cable directly from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule. Power down both the Mac and Time Capsule and restart.  See if that helps AirPort Utility "see" the Time Capsule.
If not, then you will need to perform a Hard Reset or Factory Default Reset and start over again. You can use the same device name and passwords that you used before if you wish.

  • Time Capsule Remote Access [HELP]

So like the title says I want to have access to my Time Capsule from anywhere.
I'd like someone to post a [HowTo] Step by Step.
    I have:
MB Pro with Lion OSX 10.7.4 (Airport Utility 6.1 and 5.6)
TC with FW 7.6.1 (Bridge Mode)
    T-Home Speedport W 504V configured as a DSL-Modem
TC is connected to the Speedport.
I've read many things but they make everythin more complicate.
I also tried to activate NAT-PMP with a public IP so that I can Share Disk over WAN, but the program tells me that
DHCP Staraddress and Endaddress are in conflict with my WAN-IP-Address.
So at the moment I'm using the Bridge Mode.
Also iCloud "Back to my Mac" tells me NAT-PMP or UPnP isn't activated on my router.
So please give me some help with this stuff so I can get access from an extern network.
And if I try to do it on Airport Utility 6.1 it tells me Double NAT.
    Regards
    Khanh Duy

I don't have a howto step by step sorry.. I refuse to use OS with as bad a Networking as Lion.. and no interest in clouds..
You can do this without icloud at all. And it is simple if you have a static public IP address.
Even without static public IP you might do ok with the modem you have.
So let me suggest 3 possibles..
    1. If you want to continue down the icloud road.. the issue is upnp .. did you turn on upnp in the modem.. if not do so and try it. TC should be bridged.
Or if you ISP allows pppoe authentication then bridge the modem and use the pppoe client in the TC.. this is a better method as then the TC gets the public IP on its WAN port. You can select to allow disk access from WAN. Although if this is necessary or not from iCloud I have no idea.
    2. With a static public ip, simply port forward AFP to the TC ip address. I will not post the details unless you do have a static public IP because most people don't. TC is in bridge.
    3. Use dyndns client in the modem.. Here again you will have to check if that facility is in the modem.. again the TC is in bridge.. port forward AFP to the IP of the TC. The router has to control this using a fixed IP to the TC.
In both the case 2 or 3, you access the TC remotely by simply using its IP address or URL. In finder, go, go to server and type in AFP://PublicIPaddress or AFP://TCdyndnsaddress
If you just google for "Time Capsule remote access" there are hundreds and thousands of posts explaining how to do it.. but if you cannot figure out method 2 or 3.. I am happy to give further details.

  • Time capsule won't back up - Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder. Any ideas?

I have tried all the resets, the firmware is the latest version, the green light is on.
But I get this message "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder."
    Any ideas?

Do setup again.. but make sure both your wireless and your ethernet have ipv6 turned on to local link.
Done this OK, but no idea about IPv6 - something new to me and rather Appley I think?
Unplug the WAN for the moment.. Just LAN port TC to the MBPr ethernet via thunderbolt.. (thunderbird was the kids puppet series.. Thunderbirds are go!!). Done - New real people Thunderbirds movie coming out soon I believe!!!
Reset the TC again.. sorry.. !! You're welcome ... done.
Make sure the ethernet now has an IP address.. 10.0.1.2 - Yep - done that - on ethernet anyway ...
You need to open the network preferences to find out. Yep - that's good ...
****** I then reconnect the TC WAN to the router - is this right?
And then I think I start going round in circles ... boot, reboot, restart, reboot again ...
The final result is green light on TC, but error message when trying TM is "Backup disk is not available".
Then open the airport utility and you should be able to setup the TC.
Do as little setup as possible and then run the TM backup and see how it goes.
I have managed to get Thunderbird to LAN on TC to create a folder on TC and copy a file onto it.
So I guess the drive is working - it must be the software, settings or perhaps even the operator that isn't quite so clever ...
I named network RFG, named device RFGTC.  RFG network shown as IP 192.168.0.72
Wireless router is BT Homehub 3 with IP of 192.168.0.254 - is this issuing new IP addresses when rebooting TC?
I have three wireless networks here - the BT Homehub3 wireless, the TC wireless, and also a D-link power socket ethernet thingy for an ethernet connection to the telly - DHP-W310AV which is also wireless link.  All are effectively connected to the BT Homehub - is there a conflict there?
Have several times achieved in Airport Utility schematic with internet shown as green, RFGTC shown as green, light on TC green, but no TM backup run ... "backup disc not available."
And there are no tall building around here to hurl myself off ... at least you can go to Sydney Harbour bridge - not too far away ... it was my son in Sydney that persuaded me to scrap Windows and go Apple ... it's all his fault ...

Reboot the TC.. it sometimes gets lost on the network.. are you still actually using 10.6.8 as the problem is more prevalent on Lion and ML it seems is no better.
You might find reset of the TC is needed. change the names to short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.
Reset the TM to the new name.. use the A4 in Pondini's great KB.
