Time Capsule will not load certain sites

When I've selected my Time Capsule as my network, internet browsers run slow and certain sites will not load at all.  In particular, Yahoo will not load, so I have trouble accessing my email.  It works fine when I switch the network to the wireless router supplied by my ISP.  I'd rather default to the Time Capsule to use the backup function automatically.  Does the Time Capsule have the ability to block sites?  If so, how do I clear them out?

Ok.. you missed the point.. sorry if I used jargonese.
Factory reset the TC and start over.
The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Give the TC a simple name.. eg TCgen5 (or whatever Generation it is).
Give the wireless a simple name.. eg TCwifi when you do the setup with the airport utility.
DO NOT USE APPLE NAMES recommended by the utility. They are WRONG.
For PC they need windows compatible names. You are not giving them windows compatible names with
Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule
But TCgen5 is fine.
What modem are you using?? Make and model please.
If the TC has a double NAT issue it will say so.. ie in the airport utility you will an error.. double NAT. Please if you have a double NAT error do not ignore it.. fix it. ie the TC should be in bridge not router mode.

  • Safari Will Not Load Certain Sites

About a couple of weeks ago, myspace.com was giving me a "can’t connect to the server" error immediately after i press enter on my iBook G4. And back in January chugworth.com was doing the same thing and continues to this day. Both sites will load on any PC and ony my Mac Mini on the same wireless connection. I've tried absolutely everything. I've emptied the cache, reset Safari, repaired permissions, run Yasu, and attempted to access the sites in Firefox and Camino.
    Anyone have any solutions?

Any updates on this problem? I am experiencing the "white screen" problem with the www.livedownloads.com website. I have not experienced the problem with any other sites. Just this one so far.
I know it's not a problem with the site because I can access the site from my Internet Explorer browser at work.
Also, some other sites are "acting funny". Specifically, if any links would normally spawn a new page, Safari is generating an error message.
This really stinks. I tried using Firefox also, but it does not work either. Must be something in the operating system and/or the manner in which OS X interacts with Safari.

2nd Gen Time Capsule - will not power up - just stopped working all of a sudden - I have tried other power outlets - I have tried pressing the reset button - no light

The power supply is shot. But that it lasted even this long is the wonder.. not that it died.
    The TC runs too hot..
Look on ebay for "Time Capsule power supply"
You can get a replacement and fix it although the economics are not so good.. it is probably time for a new TC.
If you can DIY it is really only a few dollars worth of capacitors that go bad.

  • Time Capsule will not spin down

I have read some similar posts regarding this issue, but none could I find that is similar to my issue. I have an older Time Capsule (model #1254) which I recently upgraded from 500 GB to a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 rpm 64 MB cache SATA 6.0 GB/s drive. Old drive was full. Since doing so the Time Capsule will not stop spinning, even when both of my computers are asleep or even shut down. The outside of the TC case is warm to the touch and I can feel and hear the drive spinning. The previous 500 GB Seagate drive did not have any of these issues.
Last night, while at home, I tried downgrading the firmware several times, but no luck. I have since read on the discussions to try renaming the TC and also, resetting the TC. I was hoping that someone else has had similar issues with a similar setup and has stumpled upon a solution. Obviously, I'm worried about the heat eventually killing my TC!
I decided on the 2 TB Seagate drive after reading other forums and discussions, but maybe I choose poorly?
    Thanks all!

Hi, after some tests i went to a new situation, which allows me to spin down the disk, in certain circumstances. It took me a week, so I want to share this experience in case it would be of any help.
I executed the following operations using a MacBook Pro with a new installation of OS X 10.6 from an external disk. This is not necessary, but I wanted to exclude the possibility of some app or hidden process in my system, or even some unknown (to me) new feature of OS X 10.9 using the TC disk without my awareness. During all the test, no other device was connected to the TC network.
First, I copied the Time Machine spare disk volume from the TC to an external USB drive, via the USB port at the back of the TC.
Then I formatted the TC disk to all zeros and reset the TC configuration to factory default.
At this point, restarting the TC, the disk was spinning for hours like before, no change. But now I can exclude it was the OS X Spotlight indexing the files: with the disk formatted to zero, there was nothing to index. So, Spotlight is not guilty to for this buggy behavior of the TC.
Now what happened is that I mounted the TC with Finder, and, 5 minutes later, the disk stopped from spinning. I can't say if this would happen even if I wouldn't format the disk, as I don't remember the last time I mounted the TC as a remote disk. If someone has this problem, I believe this is the first thing to try, keep the TC mounted and see if the disk spins down.
Then I went back to my Mavericks installation, copied the Time Machine spare disk volume, perviously backed up to the external disk, back into the TC. And finally reconfigured Time Machine to keep on using the old backup volume.
Now Time Machine regularly backs up every hour, and 5 minutes later the disk spins down. But this only works when the TC is mounted as remote disk. Whenever I unmount it, and then backup, the disk keeps his old behavior and doesn't spin down.
I think it is out of discussion that the spin down command always comes from the TC and not from the Mac, because the default spin down time of OS X Mavericks is set to 10 minutes (and so is mine), while my TC now spins down after 5 minutes, according to his settings. So, the TC is able to spin down my non-original disk, but only when he likes. This means that if I disconnect my Mac from the TC network, and someone else connects his Mac to the same network, without mounting the TC drive, it will start spinning endlessly. This is definitively crazy.

  • Time capsule will not back up any more

My Time Capsule will not back up anymore. I have a message stating there is not enough storage room. I have the setting to delete the oldest backup to make room for the newest backup. Any suggestions?

When you upgrade the OS, it produces massive backups. Mavericks in particular has produced all kinds of issues for people.
    You have several choices..
    1. If nothing in the backup is important to you.. erase the TC and start over. That is the easiest.
    2. If you want to keep the old backups then archive the existing sparsebundle to USB drive plugged into the TC.
Then erase the disk and start over. That is good way as once TM has established its routine.. and you are certain nothing in the old backups is needed you can wipe the USB.. after 6months or 1year or whatever.
    3. Plug the USB into the TC and use that as the target and start a new TM backup.
    4. Plug the USB into the computer and use that as the target for TM.
    5. Delete older backups in the sparsebundle yourself. I place this last, as it is the worst option IMHO.

  • IMac will not load internnet sites despite it having all green lights on the Network Diagnostics screen.  In other words there is a valid internet signal going into the iMac, but the machine will not load sites. Help? iOS 10.9.5

iMac will not load internet sites, despite having all green lights (strong WiFi signal etc) on the Network Diagnostics screen. in other words there is a strong
internet wifi signal going into the iMac but the machine does not connect to the internet.  I OS 10.9.5.  Other devices work fine with the same internet signal.

    iOS 10.9.5 does not exist.
iOS refers to the operating system on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch.
10.9.5 was never a version of a Classic operating system.
10.9.5 was a version of Mac OS X, and is 13 years newer than Classic.
Here are reasons for WiFi signal to fail even when they appear to be strong:
    Most common Wifi issues
Your Mac may be too close to your WiFi router, in which case, it might be better to connect to it via an ethernet cable if it can't be moved.

  • My computer will not load certain websites

    Hi,
Both Safari and Firefox will not load certain websites consistantly (Twitter is one of them). I check on my wife's computer and they can load on her computer no problem. It shows the "Problem Loading Page" message. I've cleared history, cache, everything that I can think of. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • My ipad 2 did its own update as normal except this time it will not load anything to do with game center I cant even open that app is there something I can do

my ipad 2 did its own update as usual ( 7.0 to 7.1) except this time it will not load anything to do with game center even its own app............is there anything I can do?

Try closing all of the apps on your iPad and then reset the device.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it. Close every app this way.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Time Capsule will not reset

I'm trying to delete old user devices from my access control list, but after I remove them, the Time Capsule will not reset properly.  After I delete one of the devices, click on Update, the time capsule gets stuck during the update and never fully resets.  If I pull the plug and restart the time capsule, it reverts back to it's previous state with the devices still in the access list.  Is anyone having this trouble?

    Dear Stephen,
I have the same problem and I found this thread describing the same thing on another forum. Each time I try to change any setting this happens (i.e., TC won't reset and I have to unplug it before I can use it again).
When the postings in the mentioned thread are any indication no reset (hard or soft) will have any lasting effect. But of course, I will try to reconfigure and see what happens.
Any solution or localization of where the source of the problem (firm-/soft-/ or hardware) would be highly appreciated:)
    Best
    Rene

  • Time Capsule Will Not Connect to the Internet

I would appreciate any help or suggestions with my Time Capsule problem. We have a 1TB Time Capsule, in all of 2010 it worked great. We had 2 Mac Books backing-up to it daily, never had a problem. We purchased an iMac this month and I migrated the setting from one of the Mac Books onto the iMac, no problems. However, now the Time Capsule will not back-up either the iMac or the other Mac Book. The Mac Book that I migrated all the information from hasn't been turned on since the migration. Yesterday, the Time Capsule no longer allow us to connect to the internet. I contacted my ISP to ensure internet service was active and plugged the exisiting Mac Book (we still use) into the cable modem and was able to use the internet. This morning the TC wouldn't allow audio streaming to an ATV. Any ideas on what to do to correct the problem?

I'm good with erasing all former back-ups on the Time Capsule and starting fresh with the iMac. Please tell me how.
o Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
    o Click the Disks icon
o Click the Disks tab just below the Disks icon
o Click the Erase button in the center of the window
The Quick Erase option will be fine for your purposes. This will only take a moment or two.
When you are ready to backup the iMac,
o Connect it to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule using an ethernet cable
o Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    o Open Time Machine
    o Click Select Disk
o Click on your Time Capsule to highlight it
    o Click Use for Backup
The backup will begin in a few minutes. Allow a long time for the backup. A good time to start this is late at night so you can let the backup run overnight.

  • Time capsule will not hard reset

Have a older time capsule will not reset any method. Light just keeps flashing yellow

Can you access it via the airport utility.. if so you can reset via the utility.
When you press the reset button with a paperclip or toothpick you should feel the switch.. it is fairly normal switch effect like the keyboard. If in the past you pushed too hard you have bent and jammed the lever.. so it is now broken.. the only way to fix it is to open the TC and fix the lever arm.
BTW the light always flashes yellow.. when you have done a successful reset it simply flashes faster.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Time Capsule will not back up address book

Fior some reason Time Capsule will not back up my address book. When I delete an address and start up Time Machine, it will show my address book screen. However all my "older" address book screens in time machine are blank. I have searched various forums but have not been able to find other topics on this issue. Is here anybody who has a clue (the address book is not exempted for back up)?

I just checked to see if TM was backing up my address book, and at first I saw the same thing you're describing, but after a minute or so, old backups appeared. Have you waited a minute to see what happens?

  • Time capsule will not turn on

my time capsule will not turn on

Is it Gen 1 or Gen 2?
It is utterly standard dead power supply. Just google tme capsule power supply.. you would be highly fortunate it lasted this long.
Gen 3. It has a shorted board. They used a batch of poor ceramic caps that short out.
Gen 4. Don't know.. they will suffer the same issue as Gen 3 if that batch of caps was still being used. They are still too young to have an easy to see pattern.
Most will be under warranty or applecare still in which case it is apple's problem not yours. Plus they are not landing in my hands yet.. so I cannot give you info.. Apple will never tell you anything.
Tell us how old? What model A1xxx from the base?
    What size hard disk?
Do you have just backups or do you have data that needs recovery?
For just TM backups it is better to let them go now, unless it is gen3.
Economic life 3years and 3days. The 3/3 principle.. make sure they last the full apple extended warranty.. plus some margin..

  • Time Capsule will not start

My Time Capsule will not complete the startup sequence as indicated by a solid amber light on.  I have tried pushing the reset button for more than 5 seconds to no avail.  I also tried holding the reset button while connedting the power source and that did not work either.  Any ideas?

Let's clarify how the normal startup sequence occurs when you perform a Factory Default Reset
Power off the Time Capsule (TC) for 4-5 minutes
Hold in the reset button, and while you continue to hold it in, plug the power back in to the TC
Continue holding the reset button for 8-10 seconds after you plug the power back in and then release the reset button
The TC should display a solid amber light for approximately 25-30 seconds and then begin to slowly blink amber. The blinking amber is your signal that the TC has fully reset and is now ready to be re-configured.
If the amber light stays solid and does not change to blinking after 25-30 seconds, and you have tried the Factory Default Reset a few times, then I'm afraid that there is an internal electrical problem with the TC and you will need to get in touch with Apple to let them have a look.
    Please post on your results.
