Time Conversion from Local to UTC Help! - Daylight Savings Problem?

Hi,
I am trying to use the generic conversion of local time to UTC time.  I thought I had everything working since I use the "Get Date/Time in Seconds" and then convert to "Seconds to Date/Time" witht the "to UTC" flag set true.  Then I convert back to a timestamp.
I thought I had everything working until I hit Daylight Savings for the Pacific Standard Time.  Now the Labview is off by 1 hour!
Is there an update to the Subvi's that do this?  Is this a known error?  Please help.   Thank you!

Here is the path you are doing that is causing the logic to fall apart for you.
1.  You are getting the current time.  In your images, it is 12:41 pm PDT which is 7:41 pm GMT
2.  You are asking for the date/time record (that cluster that breaks out everything) but are saying it is UTC, so you get a date/time record that 19:41 UTC (7:41 pm).  And the DST flag is 0.  (Because UTC doesn't observe daylight savings time.)
3.  Now  you are taking that date/time record and converting back to an actual date/time.  You don't wire up the UTC flag so it defaults to false.  Thus the date/time record is interpreted as local.  That DST flag is still 0 in your cluster.  So you are actually converting the time to 7:41 pm PST, which is actually 8:41 PDT.  (+1 hour for spring forward based on the month/date info.)
4.  You are displaying that time stamp in the indicator labelled "Current Date/Time (UTC)", but it is not truly UTC, it is actually the conversion of a local time from PST to PDT, and it is not even the current local time.  It is actually a "local" time 8 hours into the future.  If you put the carat into that indicator's display format, you'll see that the UTC time is in the future as well.  You call it UTC, but you are displaying a future local time.
The inconsistent conversions from local to UTC, and not accounting for the change of the DST flag from daylight time to UTC are what is confusing you.  You kind of get lucky during standard time because the DST flag is 0 for both local standard time and UTC.  But the conversions are still wrong, but it is a case of two wrongs are making it look right.  Even in standard time your input timestamp and your output timestamp indicator don't match which you would see if you used an Equals? function on them.

    Hello,
Jjust a little question to our SAP BI community!

We receive this string in input in a flat file and need it to convert from UTC to CET.
Or do you know any way to convert a date/time from IUTC to CET, eveen using an ABAP function?

  • Time conversion from u0085.Any help on this error in the PSA?

    Hi,
In IDES, I chose a random infosource to test init and delta loads; in the process I created an infopackage for the load. During the load, Monitor displayed showed failure (Red); The details of the message in PSA is:
“Time conversion from 0Calday to 0FISCPER (discal year) failed with value 19911021 “
Any guide on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks

    hi Amanda,
0fiscper has compound infoobject 0fiscvarnt (you can check RSD1 tab 'compound').
when uploading data, conversion will failed if 0fiscvarnt is blank/initial or the date format/value is incorret, your date from 0calday seems correct so 0fiscvarnt blank
seems it's your case, try to check in your transfer rules and mapped 0fiscvarnt infoobject, you can fill it with constant value, choose option 'constant' and fill with K4, you can only fill with values that exist in table T009T.
you can transfer these values from r/3 via rsa1->source system->transfer global settings, mark 'fiscal year' something and option 'update table' and execute.
    hope this helps.

  • Record 1 :Time conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER (fiscal year A1 ) failed

Get red error when loading Delta data and the red error is:
Record 1 :Time conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER (fiscal year A1 ) failed with value 20060426
We went to RSA1 -> Source Systems page, right click on the source system, choose Transfer Global Settings, check "Fiscal year variants" and check "Rebuild tables" and then run it twice, but still not helpful that we always get the above red error!
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    hi Anurag,
You are right that run OB29 on BW, find there is no any period entry for variant A1.  Since all the variant should come from R3 by run "Global Transfer Settings" on the source system, I run OB29 on R3 and find the same thing that there is no any period entry for fiscal year variant A1.  I will go ahead to ask R3 people to correct it on R3, then conduct the "Global Transfer Settings".
    Thanks

  • Daylight savings problem - Fixed in LR4?

    Hi all,
I'm using LR3 and recently discovered a problem where the program automatically adjusts the 'Time Taken' field in the photo's EXIF data to match Daylight Savings time. Obviously this is extremely stupid becasue I want to know what time the photo was taken at at the time, not what it corresponds to now.
It seems the problem has been around since LR1.0, and there's a lot of threads about this dating back to 2007, such as this one: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1383951#1383951
What I really want to know is this: Is the problem finally fixed in LR4? If so I'll be upgrading as quickly as possible.
    Thanks,
    Martin

Why don't you try it out for yourself. Download the LR4 trial and see if it works properly for your circumstances using a test library. Obviously, be sure to you don't upgrade your only copy of your LR3 library in the process.

  • Time conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER (fiscal y

This is the error i'm loading. Please any one solve this.

    Hi,
you cannot directly derive the fiscper from calday. You need create a routine and call a function for this. The function has to be called with calday and a fiscal year variant in order to derive fiscper.
One example for a fm is FISCPER_FROM_CALMONTH_CALC, another one DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT....
    kind regards

  • One time calls from local number to group conferen...

Is the only way to accept calls via this online number from a landline.  We have a group conference call tonight and one person does not have a computer.  Can they dial into the call in any form?

    Douglas,
I think those users will need to have their expectations reset, bite the bullit and you will need to implement SNR.
although it is probably technically possible to have mobile numbers routed to through a SIP trunk, I dont think there will be a single provider who will do it.
You are right, if you forward all mobile to their respective DID and you implement SNR on those, you will have a loop.
    Cheers

  • HELP - Daylight Savings not observed in INDIANA

AFter the time change last weekend, I noticed that my computer was an hour early. I looked into my date and time function and realized that I had myself set to Chicago as my nearest city. Okay, so I changed to Indianapolis hoping this would fix the problem. This corrected the time readout on the clock but not the times of events on my calendar. I suspect this is because I entered these times based on Chicago DST and now we've changed to Eastern Time. I can deal with that. My question is, does anyone in Indiana or Arizona know if my calendar will be okay come April when we DONT change again?? I can change the few errors that I have in there now, but I don't want to get the calendar full of events only to have a problem again in April. I can't seem to find a function for setting my clock to Indiana time where we do not change our clocks.

Why don't you try it out for yourself. Download the LR4 trial and see if it works properly for your circumstances using a test library. Obviously, be sure to you don't upgrade your only copy of your LR3 library in the process.

  • Daylight Savings Time...Again

It's the semi-annual file synchronization crisis, brought to you by Adobe and Daylight Savings Time, now in its nth year!
My entire 4000+ page site has gone out of synch with my local files due to daylight savings time. Apart from spending hours uploading the entire site, what can I do to maintain proper synchronization? I'd love to see an official tech note addressing this issue. BTW, I do not have any authority over the server to which I post files, so I can't make changes to how the server's timestamps are administered.
    Any solutions/suggestions would be appreciated!

I've no solution, but just wanted to post to share your frustration. This has been a problem with Dreamweaver for years, and is frankly a major PITA. You'd think such an expensive product worked on by so many coders would have squashed this bug ages ago, but no, plainly the coders can't write simple code which would detect when Daylight Saving kicks in and offer you the option to 'fix' the synch such that files whose timestamps are exactly an hour behind/ahead would be marked as synched. It's not as if it's a tough algorithm, after all. Sadly, DW has become baroque bloatware since being taken over by the Adobe corporate behemoth, which seems intent on building in pointless features so as to generate sales from those eager to keep up with the latest version. I use it because my employer's bought it, but there's no way on this green earth I'd shell out for such a poor product if I had to pay out of my own pocket.
    Just my 2 cent's worth...
    Fred
PS: Oh, and here's an 'issue' for the board admins. Hitting reply in Firefox 4 doesn't generate this HTML editor, but instead everything just hangs. I've had to go into Safari to reply. No big, it just adds a few mm to the blood pressure and makes the poster even more cross.

  • Error 3 in Update(The Conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER failed)

    Hi Guyz....
Seriously struck with this issue while loading data into 0PP_C02 using the D.S- 2LIS_04_P_MATNR. I've been getting the error "Time Conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER (Fiscal Year) Failed... and at update rule I've been getting the error "Error 3 in Update"
I've searched almost all the posts- alas, all are unanswered.
Can anyone please provide me the right soultion...?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    G!

    Hi Gautam,
For converting calday to fiscal period, you need to have fiscal variant and also entries in Table T009B for this fiscal variant.
    1) Check whether you have company code populated for all records.
    2) Please check whether you have fiscal variant maintained in the company code master data.
    3) Check whether you have T009B table maintained.
If not this can be transferred in source system -> Global settings.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Krishnan

    Hi,
Pls Look for the erroneous records in PSA.
Compare the error records with the correct one's.
This is due to the difference in the date format..
Follow the format in the correct records.
For the time being you can edit these records in the PSA to the correct format and continue with the load, and later you will hav to make the changes in the source system.
