Time Dependent InfoObject and InfoPackages

Hi There,
I did create a time-dependent infoobject ( bI7 object) however the timeframe in the infopackage does not show-up meaning I can not restrict the load _ unless I define the dateto and datefrom as selection when I create the datasource in R/3 ... Any explanation ? is it a BI7 feature ?
Cheers,
Erik.

With Time-dependent InfoOject, it is usually possible to restrict in the tab "Upadate" the FROM and TO date from the extraction. Usually the default value when you create the infopackage is TODAY for FROM and 31.12.9999 for TO.
In my case, when I create the infopackage these options do NOT appear in the screen. ....
What is the reason for that ? Is there a reason for that ?
Cheers,
Erik

  • Time-Dependent Data in InfoPackage

    Hi, Experts,
I tried to load CO Master Data from R/3, I got some issues as follow:
    1. In the InfoPackage creating, what is the meaning of Time-Dependent Data, How can I know what are the properly value range I should entry.
    2. After I excuted the Infopackage, I got red color in Monitor, I checked the PSA, some of the data's status were green, some were red which the system said that the records time overlapped, but I couldn't verify this is true anymore. Could you please give me some idea?
By the way , does any body have the documents associated with BW-SD including extraction, Business Content and query design. Thanks a lot

    Hi Ryan,
Time-dependent data means data varies from time to time. For example one employee may work in US from Aug - Feb and in Canada from Mar - Jul. Then to maintain such data you have to declare them as time-dependent.
Time-dependent data has date-from and date-to fields. In your case the date-from and date-to have multiple entries thats the reason for the error.

  • Time dependent infoobjects.

    hi sapgurus,
When i am creating the infoobjects,i am facing following can some help with them.
1.Why are very putting attributes as time dependent attributes?
2.What is the importance of HIERARCHIES NOT TIME DEPENDENT AND ALSO INTERVALS PERMITTED IN HIERARCHY.
3.What is the importance of conversion routines?
4.If we write transfer routine then it will be applicable where ever infoobject is created, what is the advantage of that?
Can somebody spare some time help me with this.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Nrupal,
    1. Time dependant attributes we use if they mean to changeable with time.
    2. Intervals, we can choose 2 nodes (at same level).
    3. Conversion routine is useful if we want to convert the format (time or date)
ex:  date:  dd/mm/yyyy but if u give input mm/dd/yyyy it suppose to give an error but u can use conversion routine to convert into internal format.
    4. Transfer toutine at IO level for permanant and TR level only for that InfoSource.
    Assign points if useful...

  • Master data loading  with Time dependent  InfoObjects

    Hi
For product master, I have a infoobject Standard Cost, a time dependent keyfigure attribute.
How do I Load data for product master
    1. From flat file
    2. from R/3 Pleas provide steps to do on R/3 side
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Though you Material grade is time dependent and sequentially changing.
You can create 4 different DTP with Grade selection (only 1 Transformation).
For example, 1 DTP with filter Grade A, another DTP with grade B, so on.
and executive all 4 dtp sequentially and activate master data after every DTP run.
    Hope it will workout.

  • Using Time dependent Infoobjects in Reports

    Hi
I have Standard Cost as time dependent attribute for 0Mat_Plant. How do I use this Standard cost values of different times ?
for Eg : How can I get this report in BEx
Material         Standard cost (2006) Standard Cost(2007)
    M100                10                               12
    M200                15                               13
Note: Actual scenario is different where I have to use standard cost of different years in formulas
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
what is Standard cost? A key figure? Where is it stored?
Please take a look to infosets. There you can do some time dependet reporting.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
But why you dont create a navigational attribute by using Standard cost? Than you can create a structure with two elements - one for 2006 and one for 2007 where you can restrict the attribute by calendar year (if available)!
But i dont know how your data model look like.

  • Time-Depended hierarchy and BEx-Queries

    Hi Gurus, Masters,
I have ONE time-depended hierarchy for 4 periods (times):
    1, 2, 3, 4
I have 4 columns in Query with 4 periods:
    1 col for 1 period,
    2 col for 2 period,
    3 col for 3 period,
    4 col for 4 period.
I have 1 row with this hierarchy.
How can i share this hierarchy in my columns by validity:
for 1 col -> this hierarchy for 1 period,
for 2 col -> this hierarchy for 2 period,
for 3 col -> this hierarchy for 3 period,
for 4 col -> this hierarchy for 4 period?
Any answer will be very appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Is this possible?
    P.S.
    I have 2 solutions found.

    Hi Shashi,
    One of the ways:
Create a variable type customer exit - in properties of the IO - in the 'select hierarchy' window there is a 'Variables' checkbox for key date.
Calculate the last date of the entered period/year in the exit.

  • Data not uploading in Time dependent Master data Infoobject

    Hello All,
I have a master data infoobject for HR entity and have to load data from PSA to that info object.
The HR entity infoobject already have sone data like below:
    HR Entity
    Version
    Date from
    Date To
    x
    A
    01.07.2013
    31.12.9999
    x
    A
    19.04.2013
    30.06.2013
    x
    A
    01.09.2012
    18.04.2013
    x
    A
    01.01.2012
    31.08.2012
    x
    A
    01.01.1000
    31.12.2011
Now the data in PSA is as follows:
    HR Entity
    Start Date
    End Date
    X
    01.01.2012
    18.12.2013
Once I loaded this data to the infoobject, i can not see this value which is the latest value of this HR entity.
Can somebody please explain how the data gets loaded in the time dependent master data infoobject and why this entry is not getting loaded in the info object.
    Regards
    RK

    Hi,
did you activate master data after your load?
You can check also version 'M' records and see if your record is there.
    The load went green?
The problem is, that your entry overlaps all exisitng time intervals, which can't be deleted or merged as there may be dependent transactional data. You have first to delete the transactional data for this entity.
Then you can delete the time-dependent data and reoload it from your PSA.
BW will build then correct time intervals.
The easiest is to change the time interval in PSA, see example below:
At the moment the time interval is not accepted. But you can add time intervalls before 31.12.2011 and after 01.07.2013, Then system will create remaiing time intervals, e.g. your new record is:
    HR Entity
    Start Date
    End Date
    X
    01.08.2013
    18.12.2013
    Result will be:
    HR Entity
    Version
    Date from
    Date To
    x
    A
    19.12.2013
    31.12.9999
    x
    A
    01.08.2013
    18.12.2013
    x
    A
    01.07.2013
    31.07.2013

  • Extraction into Time dependent info object

    Dear all,
In r/3 the field is time independent and want to extract the data into time dependent infoobject in bw.
what is the procedure to do it.
    Regards,
    BPNR.

    Hi BPNR,
    You have two options:
    1. Make the info-object time independent and pull the data from R/3.
    2. Hard code the Date to and Date from fields in the infopackage to extreme values say 01/01/1900 to 31/12/9999 and extract the data from R/3.
    Hope this helps.

  • Consolidations Planning using BCS PCtr 'Entire Hierarchy time dependant'

    Hi All,
We are doing CONS planning using BCS Profit Center and this infoobject has the 'Entire Hierarchy time dependant' property and we have two hierarchies one for 2010 and one for 2011.
If  '0PLANDAT' variable used for the 'Key Date' in the Input Ready Query prooerties, would it take care of bringing up the hierarchy appropriately depending the Plan Year (Fiscal Year) or the period chosen for the planning.
Is there some place I can find the documentation and the logic for the '0PLANDAT' SAP Exit variable?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Shashi

    Hi,
a key date in BW is the date that will be used to read time dependent objects as master data attributes or time dependent hierarchy nodes. These time dependend objects all have valid_from, valid_to fields, when the key date is in the interval the corresponding record will be taken. Observe, that a key date has no link to a time characteristic here.
The idea of 0PLANDAT is to have a variable the can be used in the customizing of time dependent objects in the planning model as characteristic relationships and in a query. The 0PLANDAT settings can be found in the planning specfic settings for an InfoCube in the planning modeler; to use 0PLANDAT in the query ensures that the same key date is used in the planning model and in the query.

    Gregor

  • User exit for time dependent attribute

    Hello,
In My InfoObject some of the attributes are time dependent and some are not.
I’m trying to enhance the time dependant attribute and can’t find the fields ‘date to’ and ‘date from’ in the transfer structure of the start routine. I also couldn’t find the time dependent fields – only the fields in the /BI0/P table appears….
Where can I find the fields of the /BI0/Q table (=Time-Ind fields) ?
    Please help,
    David

    Hi,
well normally you see the time independant data in the /bix/p- table and the time dependant data in the /bix/q- table. If you want to see both use the /bix/m- view.
    kind regards

  • 0ORGUNIt time dependent hierarchy not showing all valid nodes in BO , but in BW its correctly shown

    Hi All,
We have 0ORGUNIT hierarchy shown in one of the Webi reports. 0ORGUNIT is time dependent hierarchy.
In BW report we can see below nodes for hierarchy
    Hierarchy                     Valid From         Valid To
    Z05 Root Company        01.07.2013        31.12.9999 - Parent node
        Z05 Branch 2                 01.10.2013        31.12.9999 - Child Node
        Z05 Division                   09.12.2013        31.12.9999 - Child Node
In BO webi we can see only two nodes
    Z05 Root Company        01.07.2013        31.12.9999 - Parent node
           Z05 Division                   09.12.2013        31.12.9999 - Child Node
Any idea why in BO webi the other node is not shown ? This is happening only for time dependent hierarchy and only in BO not in BW.
    Thanks,
    Shraddha

    Hi Shraddha ,
Check at webi query panel level any restrictions applied to hierarchy levels.
Check at BEx query level, select 0ORGUNIT ,hierarchy -Expand to level .
    Here specify Max level.
lastly, check any filters/restrictions applied on data.If yes, remove restrictions.

  • Concept of Time-Dependency in BW

    Hello Masters,
What is the Concept of Time-Dependency in BW?
    What are
              1.     Time-Dependent Attributes
              2.     Time-Dependent Hierarchies
              3.     Time-Dependent Aggregates
And when why and when do we need/use them?
Please quote an example in your explanation.
I am bound to give points
    Thanks and Best wishes,
    I-BI

    Time dependent attribute:
Have a look into the below records:
Cost center    Valid to         Valid from   Business Area  compay code  profitcenter
    100AE79          04/30/2005    01/01/1000     A           100                 9056
    100AE79          12/31/9999    05/01/2005     A           100                 2000
From the above 2 records, profit center values are different for the same cost center for different periods. If you run a BEx report and if it runs for the current period, profit center displayed is 2000. If the same query runs for prior period say 05/12/2003 then the profit center displayed is 9056 for the same 2 cost centers.
The above concept is same for the other 2 cases as well.
    Hope this helps..

  • Time dependent hierarchy structure in SEM-BPS

I want to use a time dependent hierarchy structure in sem BPS to make combination chek and proposal in a layout.
I have manage a relation of type hierarchy (based on this hierarchy) in the characteristic relationship tab page of my planning area.
I open my layout to make entries in the future (next fiscal year) but the system doesn't propose me the datas valide for the next fiscal year in my hierarchy but the datas validate today.
There is a key date in the master data tab page of the planning area but it seems to have only effects on attributes with validity dates but not with hierarchy with time dependent hierarchy structure.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
The key data that you enter in the planning area is only for time dependent characteristics and attributes. For the hierarchies in the characteristic relationships the current data is used.
If you still want to use a time dependent hierarchy for modeling the characteristic relationships you could use a characteristic relationship type exit. In the exit you can read the hierarchy with the proper date.

  • Loading Time Dependent attributes

Ok, Im trying to figure out the best way to import time-dependent TO and FROM fields from a legacy system.  Obviously, the legacy system does not have these fields so I would like to generate them myself the best way possible.  The situation is that master data gets uploaded every day, and only 1 field in that master data is time-dependent (a marker field, 0 or 1, true or false).
What dates should I generate whenever updating the TO and FROM field of that time-dependent field?  Would the TO field always contain 12.31.9999 and if so, what happens if the same key data row gets updated the following day, would I have to make a script to update that previous TO field so that it contains the new data row's date, and the FROM field of the new data row? Then, of course place 12.31.9999 in the new row's TO field?
Is this the correct method, if so, that's alot of work to do for the transfer rules.  Doesn't SAP generate these TO and FROM fields as that time-dependent field is updated with a new value?
Since this is not coming from SAP R/3, it gets kind of complicated.

Hi,  You are on the right track.  All you should have to do is populate the from date with the current date and the to date with 12.31.9999.   The system will take care of the rest.  If after time you end up with many time dependant entries that have the same characteristic values you can resoganize the master data and again the system will rearrange the date ranges for you.
Good Luck and please assign points if you feel this helps you out...
    Thanks,
    Ken Murray
