Time for a VZW executive to step up and explain!

I received my Droid X on 7/16 and was excited after returning my Incredible for call quality issues. But since then I have found serious problems and have arranged to return the defective handset and am waiting for a replacement. I keep up with the forums and myself experienced crazy 3G - 1x - no bars - all bars fluctuation, and **100%** of my calls were dropped, ie after 1-2 rings or less, the screen spontaneously reverted to previous/home screen. Talked to tech services 3x at length; took it to a corp. store in King of Prussia, PA -- they had no idea. MANY people are complaining -- why in the world doesn't Verizon respond?? I've been a VZ customer for many years -- unbelievable that this would be going on with no response! I wish that I had chosen the iPhone, and still might abandon this. My fear is that the replacement DX will have problems too -- this is very common! Let's have a response, please!

you guys are right in the sense that they should have set aside x% for replacements (for the htc inc too!!). poor planning and customer service on their part. but as far as going to the iphone because your dropping calls? well that's just silly. if you know what an iphone is then you know the first issue you will be dealing with is dropped calls. apple is going to drop $175 MILLION to give everyone the rubber bumpers to attempt to fix the antenna issue and keep their customers happy. the htc inc and the droid x will have some lemons (as will every line of devices) and a few will even replace one only to get another bad one. but these problems don't compare to the nightmare that apple and at&t has on their hands right now with the ip4. i just won't ever understand the underestimating of demand. vzn knew that the inc and the x would be HUGE. i have to figure it has something to do with creating demand by supplying in shortage?? or something? why they wouldn't have a million of these units ready to go is beyond me??? we wouldn't even see or hear about all of the issues if you could just walk into a store and replace the bunk ones.
You are right on creating demand, via a shortage. If you look back, after a release of a phone, how soon does the price drop? Usually a month. (When Alltel came out with the Hero recently the price dropped within a week) Inc's been out nearly 3 months and if buying from Verizon the price is still the same.
Now add the lack of screen available issue for the Inc and the screen issue with the X, it will create a backlog they did not expect. If these two things had not occurred, you would not see a two week wait.
But to defend them.....a bit......There is not one company who wants a lot of product sitting in the warehouses. Or cars sitting in their lot. (Look at the PalmPre. They must have oodles of them. They are basically being given away WITH free MiFi of 5GB) THAT costs money. So they ATTEMPT to plan based on a perfect world, planning for some variables. When testing is done it is with such a small group. That is why many will not buy a new phone or gadget first day out and wait a few weeks. They rather not deal with what many on the site are presently dealing with.
I have been lucky. My phone has been rock solid from the rollout date, even with a very marginal signal at my house. -98. I have not seen the pink screen, or garbled voice or any issues.
One thing to consider, as kpex alluded to, for every complaint here, there are probably 10,000-30,000 others who are very satisfied. These forums tend to draw in, naturally, the negative issues with the phones.

I want to set up appointment times for an overseas trip on my iPhone 4S before I go, and have them appear as I put them in (for the local time) when visiting other countries.  I also want to be able to adjust times and set up new appointments when I am overseas for the local time.  Can I do this using the Time Zone Support or any other way?
Basically I want to do what I can do with a piece of paper - write down the time for when I will be there, and have it viewable when I am there, but also be able to put down new times while there.

    Hi.
Regarding your question about reverting back- yes, I think you can. If you make a backup of your current configuration in Server Admin (by dragging the configuration file to your desktop- cool, no?) then you can load that one back in should your configuration not work. If you have the manual from Apple it should describe this process.
Network speed post-op? I don't think you will need to worry. Even using home directories stored on our OS X Server there is no network slowdown (that you can notice or that impacts the wider LAN in any case). It shouldn't slow down access to files, applications (which still come from the local drive anyway) or individual internet connections (even with filtering).
In our experience some of these things have actually got faster- but a lot of that is user perception. Same goes for people who will know you have configured the server and that they are now accessing files through your network from the server, and who really think it is slower. File coming from your local hard drive will always be quicker- but network access isn't that bad that it will make you barf and run in the opposite direction.
Something to look at: connection speed between clients and switching technology in your office. In other words, what kinds of switches are you using, what line speed have you got (100MB/s?) and is the connection from your server to the switch gigabit? Make sure it is.
    Enjoy

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

    Hi Ronald ...
Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems.

  • Monitor time for statement to execute

I have a procedure that issues an ALTER INDEX ... REBUILD statement. How can I determine the total time it takes for this statement to complete? I'm trying to compare the time it takes to rebuild an index with logging and without logging.
    Thanks.

    Hi steve,
when tuning SQL statements, you may wish to determine the steps that the optimizer will take to execute your query. To view the query path, your database should have PLAN_TABLE (check to see if this table already exists in your DB) else you must first create a table in your schema name PLAN_TABLE. The script used to create this table is called utlxplan.sql, and is usually stored in the /rdbms/admin subdirectory of the Oracle Software home directory.
After you have created the PLAN_TABLE table in your schema, you can use the explain plan command, which will generate the records in your PLAN_TABLE, tagged with statement_ID value you specify for the query you wish to have explained:
    Example:
    explain plan
    set statement_ID = 'MYTEST'
    for
    select * from EMP
    where EMP_NAME like 'M%';
In above case you will see two entries in the PLAN_TABLE table and the difference of the timestamp column b/w the first record and second record gives you the time taken to execute the above query.

  • My country lacks of information about businesses and streets, to mention some.  I want to provide my time for free to help populate this information and make Apple Maps useful in Costa Rica.

I love using Siri and your maps.  But in Costa Rica, your maps lack of businesses data, and Siri is unable to provide any information about them, since this information is missing.  I want to offer my time and work for free to help to populate this information in Costa Rica, starting by capital city San José.  Google is much more advanced in the subjet, and I don´t see fair how complete this information is for United States and not the rest of the customers (not to make critic, just pinpointing a fact).
Who do I contact in order to make this offer?
Thank you so much in advance.
    Frank

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. These are user-to-user support forums, so in almost all cases the only people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
As to volunteering to help, you can report issues via the Report A Problem under the main menu in Maps:
Apple does not otherwise recruit users to assist with data correction, in part because they get the data from other companies. It's possible that there is no such compendium source of data for Costa Rica, at least one that Apple has yet been able to strike an agreement with.

  • Long Time for execution of select query

    Hi,
    I have a select query
    select * from Table where Time1 and time 2;
The table has a large no. of colums than rows. So the query taking a lot of time to execute.
Is there any way we can reduce the time taken by the query.
    Thanks

select * from Table where Time1 and time 2;I doubt this query run for long time. More or less 1 millsecond, the time for Oracle to check the query syntax and return errors.

  • SAP tool to estimate time for web dynpro development project

    Hi,
Is there any standard SAP tool available to estimate time for web Dynpro development project?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Deepti

    Hi Deepti
An implementation of Webdynpro based UI could be estimated by a 'standard' technique like any other U:
    1. Try to count the number of views/screens/popups in your application. The estimation time will be proportional to the quantity.
    2. Try to count the number of external interfaces would be used in the application. For example, quantity of necessary BAPI invocations (RFC), quantity of Web-service invocations or EJB calls. Also quantity of native JDBC queries if any.
Test = Nviews x Hview + Nint x Hint, where Hview & Hint time in hours for average implementing of one UI view and time for adding of average service invocation.

  • I'm being charged three times for the same service and I can not use it

Hello, A few months ago I tried to buy Adobe Creative Cloud when putting the data on the card told me that there was a mistake, then I tried other cards ... in short, I'm being charged three times for the same product twice a card and once in another obviously no "mistakes", the problem is that I can not use the product. I want to give low in all three accounts and also be compensated for the time they have charged me three times. Please, I need to solve this urgent problem.

  • Getting last login dates and times for graphical/xwindows logins?

    Hi,
How do I get the last login date and times for users who just use the GUI (and don't launch terminals)?
So far such logins don't seem to show up when I do "last -f /var/adm/utmpx" or for wtmpx.
What should I be using on solaris to get the last login dates and times for all users, whether they log in on the text console, graphical console, or remotely via ssh etc?

  • Time for me to upgrade to imac?

I currently have a G4 quicksilver tower mac running at 933mhz and running 10.3.9. It is 6 years old and has been a trusty mac.
I'm thinking it is time to upgrade to a 24 inch imac since I want an ipod touch and the latest software. The touch requires the latest OS and usb 2.0.
I do imovies, lots of photos and music.
Is it time for me to visit the apple store and drop some money??

I hate doing the "wait for the new stuff" game.
    Me too.
What will they do? Change the colors? Faster speeds?
There are three rather significant changes I'm hoping to see in the
very near future. No tellin' when, but it can't be long because the
rest of the world is already there:
\- an optical drive with BlueRay (and maybe HD DVD) capability
\- an eSATA interface or two for high speed external disk drives
\- an external video input with sufficient bandwidth for 1080p
... I/O bandwidth is your friend,

  • Looking for best approach to implement all ERP and CRM Analytics

There is a scope to implement all the ERP Analytics (HR, Finance, SCM, Procurement & Spend, Project) and CRM Analytics (Sales, service, Marketing, Contact Center, Price, Loyalty ). Just want to know the best approach for impelmentation of both ERP and CRM analytics
1- Work with two separate containers with separate execution plan for ERP and CRM
2- Work with one container with one execution plan for both ERP and CRM
3- Work with one container with separate execution plans for both ERP and CRM
Also, Please let me know if there any standard document to achieve both the implementations simultaneously.
    Thanks!

Answer, as always, is "it depends". Here is a list of things to consider w the 3 approaches you mentioned:
1- Work with two separate containers with separate execution plan for ERP and CRM
This is a good approach if you plan on a different frequency of ETL loads for each container or different timings. As long as the targets are the same and you run INCREMENTAL loads from both containers, then the refresh dates will be updated. This is usually a good idea if your ERP and CRM users have different timing and load requirements and do not want to "interfere" w each other. You will also have DATASOURCE NUM ID uniquely defined for each system so the data will be segregated. By default, each source system will have its own container
2- Work with one container with one execution plan for both ERP and CRM
This is good if you are ok w the same exact load time for both. Its a simple approach and all tables will be loaded at the same time to avoid any confusion.
3- Work with one container with separate execution plans for both ERP and CRM
Not sure what the advantage of this option versus keeping them in separate containers (like Option 1).
I would also review the secion in the DAC guide for "MultiSource Execution Plans"
    if helpful, pls mark correct

  • Can I reduce the execution time for a step in a TestStand ?

    Hi,
I calculated the a single step execution time for TestStand Ver 2.0. It comes to around 20 milliseconds/step. Can I reduce this excution time ?
Are there any settings available for configuring execution time parameters except result logging and exception handlings to reduce the execution time ?

It's difficult to tell how you what time you are reporting for your step. Clearly we don't have control of the time it takes your code to execute. However, we are constantly working on reducing the overhead of calling the code. In addition, you don't mention the type of step you are calling. One way to have a common reference is to use the example \Examples\Benchmarks\Benchmarks.seq. Below have have posted the results of running this sequence with both tracing and result collection enabled and then disabled. I have a 700 MHz, 128 MB RAM, Dell PIII laptop. In this example there is no code within the code modules. You notice that calling a DLL has the least overhead with a minimum of 7.459 ms with tracing and results enabled and 0.092 ms with tracing and results disabled. Although not included below, if I enable results be disable tracing I get a minimum time of 0.201 ms, a 100x improvement on your time.
    With Results and Tracing enabled.
7.578 milliseconds per step for CVI Standard Prototype - Object File
7.579 milliseconds per step for CVI Standard Prototype - DLL
7.459 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype
8.589 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit
9.563 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit with Precondition
10.015 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit with Precondition and 4 Parameters
7.868 milliseconds per step for ActiveX Automation
8.892 milliseconds per step for LabVIEW Standard Prototype
    With tracing and results disabled.
0.180 milliseconds per step for CVI Standard Prototype - Object File
0.182 milliseconds per step for CVI Standard Prototype - DLL
0.092 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype
0.178 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit
0.277 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit with Precondition
0.400 milliseconds per step for DLL Flexible Prototype Numeric Limit with Precondition and 4 Parameters
0.270 milliseconds per step for ActiveX Automation
1.235 milliseconds per step for LabVIEW Standard Prototype

  • Steps to reducing time for loading of data

    Hi
Could any one tell me how to reduce the time for loading of records into a particular cube or Ods. For ex: iam loading some 1 lac records. It was taking for me some 5 hrs. I want to reduce the time to 3hrs or 4hrs.What are the very first steps to be considered to make fast.
    Regards
    Ajay

    Hi Ajay,
    Check the following.
1> Any routine you have in transfer rule and update rule should not fire database select more then one time in the same code.
2> Load Master data before transaction data.
3> Reduce the data pack size in infopackage.
4> Delete old PSA because you may space issue while data loading .
5> If you are loading in ODS then remove Bex check in ODS maintenance screen if you are not doing report on that ODS.
    hope this will help you.
