Time from 100% battery indicator downward?

I charge my ipad 3 overnight to give it a full 7-8 hour charge, using the wall charger and cable that the device came with. I then try to gauge how much time from when the battery indicator drops to 99%, then 98%, etc., calculating the intervals.
I do this as a means of extrapolating for all 100 percentage units how much battery time in total the unit would last until the battery is completely exhausted, and I've been coming up with roughly 8.5 hours for watching videos on the ipad (not streamed) at between 90-100% brightness setting, and about 10 hours for surfing the web using cellular or wifi service. The cellular seems to drain a bit faster.
Has anyone one else also tested their battery - I'm curious to compare units.

Changing power settings from the battery indicator

i was wandering how to get the setting where you can change the battery settings (better energy savings, normal, better performance, custom) from the battery indicator at the top in the menu bar.
i could do this before where i would click on the battery indicator, under the drop down menu, i could click on any one of then options. but now those options are not there. i can only change the settings by going into system preferences.

Estimated Time for 100% Battery?

I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch (2011 model) for three months now and I'm just wondering, what is the "normal" estimated time for 100% charged battery on this model of MBP (provided that the wifi is on and screen brightness is at 50%)? Mine is saying 6 hours and 10 minutes. Is that normal?

Thanks, I'll give it a go! Btw, can you please tell me what is your full charge capacity? (Maybe that has something to do with my reduced battery life?) Mine is saying 6633mAh.
p.s. you can find this by clicking on apple icon (top left corner) > about this mac > more info > power (on the left pane) - it should then show details of full charge capacity on the right

¿Problems with battery indicator?

Hi guys of apple community I have a problem and I would like to give me tips to solve the problem
The problem is that the battery indicator on my ipod touch 4G has a strange behavior while charging indicator shows the battery charged (but the battery is not fully charged) and there are times when the battery indicator indicates the battery is still loading (but I know that the battery is fully charged) This is not a problem that really affects me because the battery works fine I am concerned to know why these problems happen if something serious I have no guarantee to bring the ipod touch to repair
Could you tell me if this is normal or if it is really a bad thing? I tried several power adapters and multiple computers but the problem is not resolved
I have firmware 4.3.5 with no jailbreak

IPod Touch Goes from 100% Charge to 20% within minutes

My iPod Touch is a little over two years old. It is now going from 100% battery charge to 20% within minutes of usage. However, when I plug it in to charge, the battery shows that it almost fully charged. Yet when I unplug it, it will immediately say the battery is at 20% again. Is the battery at it's end, or is this a different kind of issue causing the problem?

First try to reset your iPod and if that does not work, try restoring it to a backup and finally to factory settings. If that does not solve the problem, your battery is probably a goner. Two years is short, but not unusual; my battery failed after a little less than two years. Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one for $79 (USA) or you could do a Google search on "replace iPod battery" for a local or on line repair place that will replace the battery for less. You can even find a replacement battery (same search) and install it yourself if you're up to it.

Battery indicator of a wireless mouse stays at 100%

Hi. After updating to 10.6.7 I noticed that the battery indicator of my wireless mouse is 100%, while I am sure it is not,as it was 62% yesterday.
Any fix to display the correct value?

OK, I tried your suggestions and also booting from safe mode in the following order:
1. Booted from safe mode and noticed - no change
2. Reset PRAM per your instructions - no change
3. Reset SMC per Apple's instructions - no change
Problem still follows 10.6.6 (works) drive Vs. 10.6.7 drive (always showing 100%).
I believe my initial troubleshooting logic correct in that with no changes to the Mac HW/FW and just changing the OS that the error is related to the 10.6.7 OS. But I did follow your advice since as you said "might be a little time wasted".
btw: no issues with basic bluetooth connectivity and your suggestions may prove valuable to those who experience basic connectivity issues.

MBP June 09: Battery Level Drops from 100% to 99% while plugged in !

Hi,
I have noticed that the battery level (indicated in the menu bar) drops from 100% (after recharge) slowly to 99%, then 98% while the machine stays plugged in! I did not let it go further so I don't know if it would further discharge.
I re-calibrated the battery and this is still the case.
Does anybody know if this is normal ? I read on the web that this is due to Apple's battery charging algorithm ...

Rainer: Your MBP's charging system is designed so that once the battery has been fully charged, charging stops until the battery level falls below 93%. Then charging resumes. All batteries gradually lose charge as time goes by, without any power being drawn from them by usage. A typical notebook battery loses 0.5% to 1% of its charge per day, even when the machine is completely shut down or when the battery isn't in it (as might be the case for a spare battery). A MBP in normal sleep will lose 1-2% of its battery charge per hour, as some power is used to preserve the contents of RAM in that state. In Safe Sleep, the MBP is essentially shut down and no battery power is used at all, so the loss of charge is limited to the base 0.5%-1% per day.
Under extremely heavy loads (high CPU/GPU usage with maximum screen brightness combined with bus-powered portable drive operation, for example), your MBP may need to draw some power from the battery even while AC power is being supplied. Prolonged use under such conditions could, in theory, completely drain the battery, in which case the CPU clock speed would be automatically reduced to limit power demand to what the AC adapter alone can supply. But the likelihood that you'll ever need to work your machine hard enough for long enough to reach that point is very small.

About all that can be suggested is to use the feedback form and talk to Apple. They have communicated with some users, trying to get more info to find out just what the battery drain is so they can fix it. Unfortunately with the myriad of operating systems, apps and individual tweaks, there could be several combinations of settings that are draining the battery.
My personal suspicion is that it has something to do with iCloud and the wifi syncing. (My ipad, before I changed the setting, was reaching out to find a sync on a regular basis. And it may still be doing so, however I set my iTunes to not automatically open to keep my device from trying to sync several times in an evening...not to mention the constant aggravation of iTunes opening regularly)
That said, I could be wrong and it could be an app that users have in common, or several apps.

I had taken BlackBerry Z 10 this may 2014 and was quite happy owning it..but off late the battery indicator seems to be misleading..first my BlackBerry started switch off by 20% then after trying various methods posted on this forum. I got the same.recalibrated..however off late my BlackBerry battery seems to be draining from 100% to 0% whenever I receive a call but the mobile works at 0% for.more than 4 -5 hours..it also gets hot..
I have 2 -3 apps installed from android platform and have 4 emails configured. I have tried all.methods posted.ln various groups and nothing worked..
Pl suggest if there is any permanent solution

I think I have this proplem , and it's a pain in the nick ... I just bought my laptop 3 weeks ago , from the first time using my laptop , the battery gauge was jumping from 100% to 95% and after 2 weeks it's jumping from 100% to 94% , any solution for this , if there is a proplem in the battery maybe I can return it and they well give another on because it's under warranty .. so what do you think I can do .... also I just did a calibration to my battery but nothing happend still the same proplem ...!!

I would run a battery check first to see if it give a status (Replace) for the battery or under warranty Failure Id for the battery. Steps are below to run the battery check....1. Click START and select HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT...2. On the HP Support Assistant window, select Troubleshoot, and then select POWER,THERMAL, and MECHANICAL....AND LAUNCH BATTERY CHECK... If you get a failure code..PLEASE CONTACT HP FOR A REPLACEMENT.. I hope this information is helpful.....

So now 12 days later and another replacement I'm still having issues and apple still isn't helping. My phone has started shutting off unexpectedly again today. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here?

YOu don't have to have your receipt. Apple should have a record of how long you've had the device. If you bought it in april 2012, then your 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects is almost up. You should find your local apple store, make an appointment and take it in.

Have you done the following 4Rs basic troubleshooting steps?
Restart:
1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

I have iPad model number MC706B/A and battery gets very hot quickly and also discharges from 100% to 0 in under an hour with onyl one app going. Brightness res turned right down also to stop over use on battery.

I am getting increasingly frustrated at the battery grossly overheating ( as in cannot hold it on legs as gets too hot) also that I have to keep it on constant charge a other wise it discharges from 100% to zero in well under and hour. Is this a battery or design fault of this particular model. Its not even a year old but I also know whilst they brought it out in March 2012 they discontinued in October 2012...
Can anyone assist as Apple lcearly want nothing to do with a now defunct model and I am thinking that perhaps with the backing of the Trading Standards Authority and the Office of Fair Trading, Apple might just want to sit up and listen as up until now they have not. They simply suggest that I should trade up!!!
