Time is running out on my MBP battery- 25 minutes.....What's going on?

I don't know if it's something I did or I have had some gray cells die today but I took my MBP somewhere this morning using the battery. Plenty of charge left when I got home. I plugged in the laptop in it's spot and plugged in the charger. But it's not charging! It shows I only have 25 minutes remaining and when I pull down the menu, the words, Power Source: Power Adapter are grayed out. So what am I doing wrong? Is there something wrong with my 2 month old MBP? I tried unplugging it from the surge protector and plugging directly into the wall but no luck. The little light is amber. Any ideas?
Desperately seeking battery help, Judy

Apparently I have been unobservant AND my blonde roots are showing because in talking to Apple support today (yes, they are open on Sat.!), the number in the menu bar is counting UP, not counting down as I thought......... Oh, well, what else can I say but thanks for listening. I will go now and hide somewhere....... Have a nice day, me
PS- still seems like the words up in the menu (indicating what is the source for power), they should be
black not grayed out.......

  • Time is running out for BT Vision

Time is running out before I move my money to another provider.
Four times this week I set my box to record whilst at work only to find a blank screen when I came home.
Still no text service, even though it's been "Coming soon" for longer than I care to remember.
Telling me "Your not the only one, lots of people are having the same problem." Does not cut it.
If it's not fixed by November I'm off, and I will say goodbye to this terrible service.
I will also go to trading standards and every media source I can think off to publicise the shocking and uncaring nature of B.T.
Well done B.T. You've driven away another loyal customer.

I agree it is a disaster. However the cause is down to Freeview changes all this month and an unforeseen glitch in the software. That's the reason not a vald excuse.
A fix is being tested at the moment and assuming it pans out ok will be rolled out to everyone.
    Cold comfort perhaps.

  • I can't drag and drop iTunes music files into Roxio Jam 6 anymore and, now I have to import music one song at a time by using the " " or "-" buttons on the bottom. What is going on? G5 Dual 2 Ghz and OS 10.4.11

Hi. I have not used Roxio Jam for quite a long time and I just wanted to make a few CDs. Jam used to work easily and well. I have a problem. I can't drag and drop iTunes music files anymore and, now I have to import music one song at a time by using the "+" or "-" buttons on the bottom. What is going on? I trashed the preferences file and restarted Jam to no avail. I also have selected that Jam should open files with iTunes in the Jam preferences. I have a G5 DP 2Ghz PPC  machine with OS 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2.1 and Quicktime's version is 7.6.4. I have 2 GB of RAM and the machine has dual 1.25 Ghz. processors plus a 500 GB HD. Can anybody give me any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,

Uninstalling AirParrot as well as the two offending AirParrotDriver.kext and APExtFramebuffer.kext files in System>Library>Extensions was the fix. All problems disappeared.

  • EE says time has run out for my data but I still have 500mb PAYG top-up ?

Hi. I received 10 gb data when I bought my phone 3 months ago.  EE says the time for this data has run out which is correct- however I still have 500mb of the monthly PAYG topup remaining (this is shown on the data, call, text remaining allowance screen. However away fromWifi I cannot access the internet..  It says I have no data - 'Time Run Out'. Any help appreciated

Hi Leanne, I tried contacting Customer Services via phone but just ended up going round in circles with the various options and not being able to speak to a person and basically getting nowhere.  So I went into the local EE shop and a very helpful and patient young lady listened to my story and phoned Customer Services who put her onto the Tech area - then back and forth between the two for over an hour till eventually they reset my account and credited me with a new PAYG monthly pack.  Now I can use the data allowance to access the internet as normal.  The only thing that I believe needs to be checked is that on my next purchase of PAYG I was due to get a 250mb Boost so I need to check I receive this as the text msgs I received from EE stated I was on my first PAYG purchase. Thanks Brendan

  • Time machine running out of space quickly-Why?

I set up a client with a new iMac in Dec2012. This was a migration from an older iMac and the initial load was 650GB via TM Restore. He has a lot of pictures and documents but also chose to have me "back everything up." This was a 10.8 start
Went to the SW for 3 months. His prime activity was taking pictures, adding to iphoto library.
Now 4 months later his 1TB external drive (LaCie/TB) is nearing capacity and things will start being deleted soon. Now at 10.8.3
I cannot believe how 300GB of data were added in this time period. I am wondering if there was some temporary file that is burried in one of these backups.
How do I explore other than review each backup and do a get info to see which backup "spiked" the drive.
    Thanks for any suggestions

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    tmutil compare | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
Files that you’ve excluded from backup, or that are excluded automatically, are ignored.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
    Added:
    Removed:
    Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.

  • Time Machine running out of space but doesn't delete old backups

    First some context:
I am running Parallels Desktop on a 2011 iMac. The VM is on a partition that is excluded from Time Machine.
I have a second partition where I copy the VM every night using CCC. (This avoids TM backing up a large VM every hour).
TM says initial backup is 220 GB. I have a 1TB USB drive attached. So normally, this works fine.
This morning 100GB were copied to my Parallels Desktop partition. So TM should copy something in excess of 100GB during backup.
Currently, only 15GB are free on my backup volume. But TM doesn't try to delete old backups. It doesn't seem to recognize the size of the backup. Instead when it starts, it predicts about 1GB to backup. Then during backup the amount grows (note that no new data is changed during backup!) and it finally hits the wall at 15GB because the disk is full.
Any idea why TM doesn't figure out the real backup size?
Here's the log from TM Buddy:

  • Problem with 4 sparsebundles to a time capsule - running out of room

hi, if anyone could help me? I am near critical in filling up the time capsule and time machine is not deleting older files within the sparsebundles.
I have 4 macs backing up to a 1Tb time capsule via time machine. I have only 4.4 G left.
Theoretically, the time machines for each individual machines should have started deleting once I hit a critical mark. But, it has simply continued filling and I am worried it is going to crash.
I realized this happend a few months ago when I was keeping docs AND sparsebundles on the timecapsule. but when I called applecare, they guarenteed it was because of the data files and once I had only sparse bundles on the time capsule, there would be no problem.
Well, the problem has reoccured, and I am no longer covered by apple care.
    My questions are:
    1. I was told once that you could export your sparsebundles directly to a USB drive? Can someone tell me how (from within time capsule). Otherwise, copying requires it go through one of my computers (which I assume would then be done wirelessly and be slooooooow). I can't take it in to the apple store until I have the data backed up.
    2. Am I doing anything wrong? Is there a setting (ie watermark) that I am simply missing?
Any help would be greately appreciated.

No, there's no "critical mark" if you mean a certain percentage or amount of space remaining. Time Machine will begin deleting old backups when it doesn't have enough room for new ones.
If any of your Macs are running Leopard, however, and have the +Warn when old backups are deleted+ box checked in Time Machine Preferences > Options, the backups will fail with a "Backup disk full" message. See #C4 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

  • Time Capsule running out of disk space

If anyone ran out of disk space on their time Capsule, did the system delete the oldest backups as advertised?  My 1TB is about full.

Please check out this excellent Pondini Time Machine article to see if it will help answer your question. Basically, Time Machine will delete the oldest backups "as advertised," but there are times when this doesn't always appear to work that way.

Go to the top left of your screen.
    Click on the Apple icon.
    Choose "about this mac".
    A small window will open.
It will tell you the version of the operating system you are running.
More details if you click "more info" within the small window.

  • Time Machine Running out of Space

Previously Time Machine keept my backups for months. 2 Days ago I got the message that the disk was full. I erased it and started anew. Today I get the message again and have only a few backups.
My main disk, the one I'm backing up is 561 gigs and the Time Machine disk is 1 TB. What has caused the change in behavior?

That Pondini resource is incredibly cool, but I am apparently not tech saavy enough to follow it all.   I continue to get a many warnings that Time Machine could not complete the back-up (because the back-up is too large for the back-up disk, and the Time Capsule appears full.) This after several years of working flawlessly and thinking it automatically made room for more recent back-ups by just deleting older ones.
Do either of you have a recommendation for a novice?  I have already unselected the "warn me" in preferences, but it hasn't helped.    I did download the "buddy widget" that Pontini recommended and some of the pertinent things seem to say : "No expired back-ups exist---deleting oldest back-ups to make room.   Back-up failed with error: Not enough available disk space on the target volume."
I don't know that I have done anything different other than a larger external HD was plugged in for awhile (and I never did exclude that manually.)
Should I just erase Time Machine and try to start over?  TIA.

  • HT1657 I have rented 2 movies on apple tv. Both of them stop frequently by freezing on the screen for extended periods. My time is running out. I've yet to watch a film right through as a movie experience. Is this something that often happends? Is it fixa

I have rented two movies on appleTV. Neither play all the way through. Both stop frequently and freeze for extended periods. It has been more than 10 hours since I downloaded them. What should I do to watch a movie all the way through? My tv is a year old.

    Hello there billytea,
From what you are describing here, it seems as though we may need to look into the network configuration. Here is an article named Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting playback performance that I feel has great information about troubleshooting these types of streaming issues and recommendations to optimize it. You can find the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3623. First a bit about the minimum requirements for streaming HD and SD content:
    Broadband Internet connection
For the best viewing experience when renting or purchasing iTunes content on Apple TV, you need a broadband Internet connection. A sustained 8 Mbit/s or faster Internet connection is recommended for viewing 1080p high-definition movies and TV shows, 6 Mbit/s or faster is recommended for viewing 720p content, and 2.5 Mbit/s or faster for standard-definition content. Internet connection speeds may vary depending on your ISP and other factors.
If you are not sure what your Internet speed is, you can ask your ISP, or use an online bandwidth test from a computer that is located on the same network as your Apple TV.
If your internet meets these requirements I recommend following the troubleshooting in the article.
If streaming performance issues occur even with a high-speed broadband Internet connection, consider these suggestions:
    Check your home network
Along with a broadband Internet connection, your Apple TV also relies on a high-speed local network to play media content quickly and reliably.Wireless connectionWired (Ethernet) connection
To connect Apple TV to your network wirelessly, Apple TV requires a wireless router or Base Station that is 802.11 a, g, or n compatible for streaming video.
Your Apple TV should also be within a reasonable range of your base station or router, and in an environment with minimal wireless interference. To verify the strength of your wireless connection on your Apple TV, from the main menu, go to Settings > General > About
If you continue to experience slow playback performance when viewing movies and TV shows, connect your Apple TV to your local network via a wired (Ethernet) connection. If streaming performance improves noticeably, then you should consider updating or troubleshooting your Wi-Fi base station or router.
If you are connecting your Apple TV to your network via Ethernet, you should use a 10/100BASE-T or faster Ethernet network.
If you continue to experience slow playback performance while connected to your local network via a wired (Ethernet) connection, consider contacting your Internet service provider (ISP) to increase the speed of your connection. You can also reduce the video resolution of the iTunes Store content as is described in the next section.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Time is running out

From the technotes for the current crop of RC beta drivers:?"This beta driver expires on January 8, 2007. When this happens, users should install the latest Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista driver available."?Let's hope we see some updated drivers in the next 0 days or so!

In your second class, look at where you're defining your StudentDB method. That's not a valid place to to define a method, and that's what the error message is saying. If you look at the lines above that line, you'll see why. I'm wondering if your source file got corrupted -- maybe you accidentally deleted some lines?
As for the other messages, they were explained in the other thread you asked about this. The compiler doesn't know what you mean by the class "Student". Have you even defined that class? If so, is it on your classpath? etc.
Dude, you can't program in a panic. At least not in your first semester.
