Time is running too fast

Hi there
I've got an iphone 2g, FW 3.1.3 and a very strange issue:
The clock is running too fast. After one day the time on my phone is 1 hour ahead ( 1hour/each day). When i connect and sync, the time on my phone jumps back to the normal time, the time on my macbook.
I did a total reset (came from version 3.0), but with no luck.
Ive got no option "Set time automatically" in my Firmware version.
I hope somebody has any idea what's going wrong.
Thank you for reading anyway.
regards
Pedro

Thanx, that helped!!!
Turned out that one of my homes' NLS_LANG had norwegian_norway and the others had american_america. As soon as I changed the norwegian to american, Forms started and I let go a huge sigh of relief :-))
Thanx again!

  • Why would my video clips be running too fast when played on the monitor panel?

I posted my problem earlier today, but re-reading it maybe I didn't explain myself well enough.
My main question is: "why would my video clips be running too fast when played on the monitor panel ?".  This is occuring after I have selected my media from the Tasks Panel and placed them in correct order in the Timeline/Sceneline.  I knew something was wrong when I could see that the clips were not indicating their right length when viewed in the (expanded) timeline.  They were compressed into just a few seconds, whereas the clips should have been at least 5 minutes.  I ran the clips in the monitor and sure enough they ran too fast, with a lot of jerking movements.
The 3 video clips I am trying to make into a HD PAL video were taken with my Nokia N8 mobile video camera. These are in mp4 format. Can this present a problem ?  Note that when I play these individual HD clips on my computer in (Windows Media Player) they run fine.
After I placed the clips in my Project Panel (or before in the Organize Workspace), I have perforned no change or manipulation of the clips.  They are in their original state.
Just too confirm that the clips did seem to be compressed, I burnt a DVD, the resultant video ran in a matter of seconds.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is what the problem was.
Although the video camera on my Nokia N8, mobile was capturing at 25fps,
for some reason once transfered over to PrE9 (via file transfer), the clip was interpreted as 500fps.  Once in Interpret Footage I was able to change the fps to 25.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Why are my podcasts running too fast

my podcasts and audio books run too fast so the speech is too quick to listen to, my music seems ok - anyone experienced this problem or got suggestions for me?

Slightly below the scrubber bar the is a box with either 1/2X. 1X or 2X.  Those are the playback speeds.  Tap on the box to change/cycle through the speeds.

  • Recorded video is not natural and runs too fast.

    Hi,
I am facing one of the very strange problem with my cameras and I am not sure whether some unintentional setting is causing that.
When I record the video and try to play it the video does not look natural and runs too fast like 5 min video finishes in 3:20 minutes.
Any ideas what may cause this as until now it was working fine?
    Thanks and regards,
    Sanjay.

  • Fans running too fast on MBP Core II Duo

    Hi there,
I'm starting a new post 'cause the older one was getting unfruitful. Let me wrap up quickly. I've got both a MBP Core Duo and a MBP Core II Duo. I had notice that the fans on my MBP Core II Duo were very noisy compared to the MBP Core Duo. So I ran smcFanControl (NO I HAVEN'T CHANGED THE SETTINGS AND NO smcFanControl ISN'T BAD FOR YOUR COMPUTER), I just used it for MONITORING PURPOSES. Ok.
I've capture both results in movies so you can see the differences. I've used a cloned system and compiled some code to give the cpu some meat. Here are some behaviors I've noticed:
    http://web.mac.com/michaf/iWeb/MacBook%20Pro%20Fans/MacBook%20Pro%20Fans.html
(Just run both movies at the same time)
    1) The MBP Core II Duo runs at a minimum of 2000 rpm vs 1000 for the MBP Core Duo
    2) The MBO Core II Duo shoots very quickly and hangs it's fans much higher.
    3) After a while the MBP Core II Duo has a temp of around 68 with fans running at 4500! The Core Duo instead at a similar temp is down to 2300!
I'm recording with my machines and it's barely usable with the fans.
Has anyone noticed the same thing or is it my machine?
    Micha

The movies in your link don't appear to be working so can't comment on those.
Your post confirms what I suspect is true about C2D temps compared to CD temps, which is that the C2D is fundamentally no cooler (possibly hotter) than the CD, but Apple have doubled the fan speed in the C2D to make the C2D run cooler.
Seems to me that Apple bent over backwards to make the CD quiet, and this resulted in them running too hot, and with the C2D they have swung the other way.
I am using Fan Control 1.1 on my CD to steer a middle course. I have left it with 1000 rpm min but set it to start ramping the fan speed earlier and more steeply as temp rises. So most of the time it is quiet, and high temps which can be reached with the Apple settings are avoided.
Doesn't help your C2D problem much except to suggest that you use Fan Control 1.1 to devise settings to suit your purposes. I suggest you have Hardware Monitor on continuously (hidden) so that you see what has happened to the temp over typical working sessions using different settings in Fan Control. When you have found what works you don't need to keep Hardware Monitor active.
C2D can't need 2000 rpm the whole time!

  • Uncompressed 8-bit running too fast

    Hi all,
I've just been given a project in which , for some reason, the footage has been captured using two settings on two different versions of Final Cut.
The DV-Pal captured footage is fine, but there is also uncompressed 8-bit footage and this plays back too fast. It appears to be a 24fps/25fps problem - when I set it to play back at 24 it's fine.
Is there an easy way to either convert it or set it to play back at the slower speed combined with the other footage at normal speed?
    Thanks,
    Tom

You can scroll in the browers to find the frame rate of this footage.
PAL needs to be slowed down by 4%. You may want to convert PAL to NTSC in Compressor or look into the Nattress plugins to see if he has an easier solution.

  • Videos run too fast with latest Flash player

I am trying to learn a 3D program and some of them use Flash Player to run.  But when I run the video, they run so fast that I can't keep up with them.  There is no audio with the video tutorial as it is just a video.  Any suggenstion as to how I can slow the videos down so I can keep up with the tutorial?  Any and all help will be appreciated.

If they're FLV files, I'd recommend VLC media player. IT has "speed controls" in the interface that Flash Player doesn't. They range anywhere fom half speed to 1/32 to frame by frame if necessary.

  • Please help: OEL clock running too fast

    Hi,
I have tried everything I could find on the internet,
I have downloaded the latest OEL 64bit, installed it on a server (Asus m/b + AMD Phenom™ X4 Quad-Core cpu).
The clock runs 3 times faster than it should, how do I fix this?
Tried all the "noapic" etc options on older RHEL discussions in the grub.conf, but nothing works.
    PLEASE someone help!
We are trying to do a OEL + 11g setup.

As a sidenote, please reconsider the previously proposed NTP solution.
Even with systems without clock problems, there will always be a difference in clock speed between computer systems and also with the other systems surrounding them.
Almost any computer system is using remote services, or provides services, or even has a setup where multiple systems are used to provide a single task (for example: the task of having a standby database using dataguard). If diagnosis of events on multiple systems, or diagnose of the sequence of events or tasks is needed, the clocks needs to be in sync. Otherwise diagnosis will be hard or impossible, or simply done wrong.
NTP is the solution for that by carefully examine the local clock speed, and compare it to the networked time sources, and adjusting the clock accordingly.
This is the reason most datacentres have timeservers internally with which computer systems can sync, so the clock is in sync on all systems. These timeservers are internal, thus need no internet access for the time clients. It is advised to use a 3rd party time source for the timeservers (like using timesources on the internet, or have a special card which sync with some atomic clock) But please mind you can do without.

  • While loop running too fast

I have a while loop that is writing globals into shift registers. When the loop finishes i write these shift registers to a 2d Global array. Everything works great, my problem is that i am writing about 14000 readings/sec into the shift registers with a wait of 0 in wait until next multiple. File is way too big. If i change wait to 1, i get 500 readings/sec, too small. I need a way to slow this loop down, or put a delay in that is less than 1ms. Any help is Greatly Appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mike

Pincpanter has some good ideas and is probably what you will need to do.
Keep in mind that tuning this way is very system dependant.  Changes in processor, processor speed, memory access speed, OS processes running, etc. will all affect the amount of time that LabVIEW takes and therfore takes a lot of tuning for each system.
I just wish I had an even better answer, but I don't.

  • Fan runs too fast after SMC update

About a week ago I updated the SMC of my Macbook 7.1 (mid 2010).
I even leaved it sometime  (days or weeks) on the list of software updates without installing, as it said I should not touch until it was done and it was to fix some compatibility with hardware that I don't have. So I did it at a time I would not do anything.
Since then, the fan began to work at full speed almost permanently, sometimes it slows down to normal operation (really normal, increase rotation when the device heats up, slow down to 2k rpm when it is cold).
I have formated the HD twice, because I tought that had done something wrong, but the problem persisted, so I used the hardware diagnostics and found two error numbers, one for the fast run:
    4SNS/1/40000001:TN1D - - 110.00
And another for the extensive test:
    4SNS/1/40000001:TN1D - - 1.000
I searched these numbers but the results are not good nor precise, peaple said it's related to thermal detector or the logic board permanently damaged.
My current SMC version (after the update) is 1.60f6
I don't know the old version of SMC.
I installed iStat PRO widget, from where I can see that all thermometers are operating normally (these must be the source of the control of the fan) and the fan running at 6,200 rpm.
I even tried to install Fan Control system pref component, but it can only increase the commanded speed of the fan at any time, never decrease.
I also tried to reset SMC as said in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 , sugested in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1306035
Is there a way to roll back to the old SMC version?
Or to install some program to overwrite the wrong control?
    Thank you.

you need to bring it to an Apple store or AASP to have it properly diagnosed.  Only Apple certified technicians have access to what those diagnostic codes mean.

  • Scripts run too fast? Inconsistent Results

In Automator I wrote a simple workflow combining Applescript and Automator. I saved it as an application and it appears to work every time.
In a new Automator workflow, I then tried looping the application 5 times. This yields inconsistent results though. It seems to loop, but steps are often missed in the workflow. Furthermore, which steps are missed is not consistent.
The workflow includes importing sound files etc. which takes a bit of time, so I tried adding some delays here and there. I also tried quitting other app's to ensure it can run at a full speed. No luck though.
Surely there is a more efficient and robust solution than guessing where to put delays and how long they should be?
    Any ideas?
    Thank you soooo much!

My solution. STOP USING AUTOMATOR! Especially any mouse click tracking with the record button.
Applescript is so much more versatile and reliable. I spent about 10 hours learning it from scratch to make this simple script, and I still suck at it, but it's been really worth it for me. It's really pretty simple.

  • Shockwave runs too fast!

    Hello,
Years ago at Ben & Jerry's I built a Shockwave game to support Phish Food ice cream. Computers run so much faster now that the game is unplayable. Is there a way to slow down the plug-in so the game responds more like it did in 1995?
You can see the game here: http://dryfoos.com/phish.html
Note that as soon as you try to move the Ice Cream Man, the collision sound plays. this means that the chocolate fish sprites have collided with the character - but they have come across the screen so fast that you do not even see them. Also, the sound loop plays one or twice and stops - I suspect that is related to the clock speed as well.
    Thank you!
    -Rik Dryfoos

    Hi,
If you have the original .DIR file that was used to make the Shockwave, then you are in business. If not, then not so easy.

  • Code runs too fast once when deployed

My code is a simple "forward until closer than X centimeters" then turn until... The turn occurs fine when I run the code attached by USB. Once I deploy it, the left wheel stops and goes very quickly, as if the whole loop is running once a second or so. Computer is windows XP.
    code is attached...

Move Forward Time new2.vi ‏17 KB

    Hi M,
Were you able to determine why the Wait_Num.vi wasn't waiting for the requisite number of seconds before the motors stopped in your previous post?
If you changed the last Wait for Away.vi such that it waited until the sensor read farther than 15, do you get a better result? I'm not sure how stable the distance sensors' measurements are, but at 10 from an obstacle, the loop would iterate rapidly and the left motor would pulse as the robot receives measurements; 9.9, 10.1, 9.9, 10.1 …
    I hope this helps,

  • Time Machine - Running Too Often?

I have a Time Capsule and am backing up 4 Macs to it.  3 of the Macs seem to be operating perfectly, but on my MacBook Air, I am seemingly running Time Machine backups nearly continuously.  I faced this problem about a month ago and reformatted the Time Capsule to start fresh.  I also verified all disks.
For instance, I noticed a backup running tonight, and it finished at 7:18pm.  I immediately went into System Preferences and then the Time Machine Preferences pane and noticed that the Last Backup was listed properly as 7:18pm, and the next backup was listed as being scheduled for ~8:40pm.
At ~7:45pm, I noticed that the Time Machine icon in my status bar was spinning, and another backup was taking place.  I entered the Time Machine Preferences pane again and it indicated that 87.7MB was being backed up.  Then, immediately after that 87.7MB another backup was processed, this time for 79.2MB.  Overall, the process lasted approximately 40 minutes.
Once it ended, I checked the Preference pane again, and it indicated that Last Backup was 8:10pm, next 8:40pm.  At 8:40pm it ran again, and at this point it is a bit after 9pm and still running.  I basically have not touched the computer, altered files, etc.
The only thing I can think of is that I have Sophos anti virus running on this particular computer (it is work-related and I have to).
Any thoughts?  Thank you in advance.
    John

Thanks to both of you for the responses.  I do belive I have Sophos set to "read only" as the setting is "Whan a threat is found: Log Only" as oppsoed to "Clean Up".  I don't see any other settings for read only.  As for virtual machines, no, I am not running any Windows VMs.
I have turned Sophos on-access scannining off.  I have also excluded Sophos folders from the TM backup and excluded the TM and ./MobileBackups/ from the Sophos system.  But I am still experiencing the problem.
As mentioned, the other Macs using Time Machine to the same Time Capsule work perfectly.  Their backups are run in a matter of a couple of minutes, whereas my work MacBook Air takes 30-45 minutes, then runs again shortly thereafter.  Nearly continuously!
Based on everything I've read, I am pretty confident that Sophos is the culprit, but I cannot remove it because of company requirement.  Very frustrating.

  • Fans running too fast-6K rpm

I noticed the fans running fast a couple days ago. There does not seem to be a reason of this—temps are low (I think): nothing is reading higher than 46°.
What might be causing this? What should I do about it? Is there a danger aside from burning out the fans?

There are a couple of other things to try:
Open Activity Monitor and see if you have an out of control process. Select "All Processes" at the top and CPU in the bottom bar. Look for something hogging the CPU. Sometimes a printer process will hang up and do this, but it could be almost anything.
Run the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test. It may be that a thermal sensor has failed or become unplugged, and if so, the fans are set to run all out by default.
Burning out the fans is the first danger. Burning out your computer because the fans aren't cooling it is the next danger.
    Good luck!
