Time Limits for iMovie clips

I have a movie in iMovie 10.0.4 on my iMac that is 30 minutes long and has 30 individual clips. Normally in iMovie you push the "SHARE" button and then transfer the movie to "iTunes" then I can drop the movie into Toast and import it to a DVD. I have been able to do this process with shorter clips less the 3 minutes long but cannot do it with the video this long. I cannot envision having ten separate clips. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Bob

Thanks for trying to help me.
I need the whole video to have no clip breaks
Even if iMovie breaks the clips into separate media clips, they play seamlessly. But obviously you want one huge media clip for some reason, right??
If it would play seamlessly, I could live with the breaks. But when I view it, the seams are quite noticeable. My iMovie is the 5.0.2 version, which doesn't have the option to limit scene lengths. This morning I tried using my son's MacBook, which is newer and has the 6.0.2 version and does have the option. I tried it with different combinations of options selected, particularly with the "limit scene length" set to 59 min., but same thing: stops importing at 19:56:06. To import more, I have to re-click import. It doesn't even continue importing with breaks. It totally stops and waits for me to restart the import for the next 19 min.+ section. This is for National Board Teacher Certification, and they are very strict about no edits.
That time strongly suggests that you have not properly formatted your drive! (20 minutes of DV data is about 4 GB which is the upper clip size limit of some PC formats). Format the drive as Mac OS Extended!
OK...now I feel dumb. I have no idea what you're talking about. Does my drive not come formatted automatically? Was I supposed to do that? The drive I am downloading to is an external hard drive connected via firewire to the computer, and the camera is piggy-backed into the hard drive. It's a Lacie 240G. How do I properly format it?

  • Possible to insert a countdown timer into an iMovie clip?

I'm making an exercise video, and I want to insert an occasional small clip with a countdown timer.  Ideally, it would be some beautiful nature footage (like waterfalls or wildlife), with a countdown timer in the corner.
Does anydbody know how to insert a countdown timer into an iMovie clip?
For that matter, does anybody know where I could find/purchase 2 minutes of nature footage?

Sure you can. What you need to do is add the initial image to the topic then create an image map. This allows you to define shapes that when the user's mouse hovers over it indicates that there is a hyperlinkto another topic. Just right click on the image, select Insert Image Map and go from there.

  • Time limits for time capsule access

I want to set time limits for individual devices on my Time Capsule network. How do I set this up??

You will need a hardware address for each wireless device that you want to be able to control. If you do not have the device listed, it will have "default" access to the wireless network, which means that it will have unlimited access at all times.
If you are having difficulty finding a hardware address for a given device, turn off all the wireless devices that will connect to the network except your Mac. You know the hardware address of your Mac already, correct?
Turn on one other wireless device and look for the info about that device. Then turn on the next device to get info about that device. You may not see a device name and instead see something like 10.0.1.x for the device name. Click on the 10.0.1.x display to reveal more information about the device, including the hardware address.
You can set up rules for each device on either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme and the settings will automatically be transferred to the "other" device, so you only have to enter the rules on one device.
Open Airport Utility again and click on the Time Capsule if that is your "main" base station or router. Otherwise click on the AirPort Extreme if that is the main base station.
    Click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the window
Look toward the bottom of the next window and make sure that there is a check mark next to Enable Access Control. Later, you will need to make sure that the other router you have is also enabled.
    Click on Timed Access Control
Here you will see the "default' rule for the network of Unlimited Access. This means that any device that has not been assigned a specific rule will be able to connect to the network at any time. Leave this rule alone.
Click on the + (plus) button at the bottom of the Wireless Clients box
Type in a device name next to Description.....example.....iPad
Type in the hardware address of the device next to MAC Address
You probably want to have the rule in effect Everyday, so leave that box the same. If you click on the box, you will see that you are able to have the rule in effect with a number of other options.
Click on the All Day box and change that to Between
Double click on each time display to edit the start time and end time for the device each day. For example, the device might be able to connect Everyday, Between 9 AM and 10 PM. It is possible to have multiple rules for the same device by clicking the + button in this area to add another time slot.
    Click Save
Click Timed Access Control again and repeat the process for the next device, etc until entries for all wireless devices that you want to control are complete
Click Update to save all of the settings and the Time Capsule will restart in 30 seconds.
Be sure to enter a check mark on the other router that you have to Enable Timed Access and Update to save the setting.  This will transfer the stored settings from the Time Capsule to the AirPort Extreme or vice versa.
    Good luck.

  • How do I set access time limits for my kids devices?

I had a Time capsule installed.
How do I set time limits on my kids devices or can I?

You can set individual daily time limits for any wireless devices that connect to the network using the Timed Access feature in AirPort Utility.
First look carefully on the back or bottom of each of your kids' devices for label that has a MAC Address. This is an ID number that will have a form of  xx : xx: xx : xx : xx : xx.  The "x" can be either a letter or number.
Write down each MAC Address carefully, noting which device is which.
Post back when you have done this. Do not post these ID numbers....just let us know that you have them in hand.
We will also need to know what operating system that you are using on the computer that is used to configure the Time Capsule.
If you have a Mac, and are not sure what operating system it is using.....click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Mac's screen, then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

  • How do i set time limits for my children on an ipad and ipod

    how I set parental restrictions

That's not a feature of the iPod or iPad. Or the iPhone for that matter. The most effective way is to take it away from them when they're not supposed to be using it.
If you don't want to do that, investigate the capabilities of your router to set time limits for specific devices.

  • How do I set time limits for my iphone?

You know how there are parental controls on the macs in the settings. In there you can set up time limits of how long you can use the computer for but I can't find it on the iphone where you can set time limits for use. I looked at the restrictions sections but I don't see anything on setting time limit. How could I set time limits for use on my phone? I go on my phone too much and I really have to set restrictions to limit my time on it.

There are apps you can download i believe to do this.

  • I just bought a docking station for my iPad so I could plug into a mixing board and record a live show.  I was disappointed at the time limitation for the recordings.  What is the maximum amount you can record a song into GB for the iPad?

I purchased a docking station for my iPad so that I could record a live recording of my band directly from a mixing board this weekend using GarageBand.  Unfortunately, I was unaware of the song length limitations of the iPad version of this program.  Basically, was unable to capture more than 15 minutes of the gig.  I've read other conversations on this forum and can't really determine the maximum amount of time this application can record.  Can anyone tell me how long GarageBand for ipad can record at one single time and how to adjust the settings to achieve this?  Also, is anyone aware of any other apps than could be used to record a longer please share.  Thanks.
    CP

I received an email reply from George, the Founder and CEO of Studiomini, he indicated to me that their app does not have any time limitations in regards to recording like GB does, you are only limited by the amount of free space on your iPad.  Fo what it's worth, I think the Alesis IO Dock is an amazing piece of equipment.  I would highly recommend purchasing the IO Dock and plugging your mixing board into the dock to capture your rehearsal.  Hopefully the feedback I received from Studiomini is accurate and I can capture my entire rehearsal at one time.  I hope this feedback helps.  One last note, apparently their will be a update soon to view Studiomni in the landscape view on the iPad instead of just the portrait view.

  • Time limits for upgrades?

I was just wondering if there are time limits/expirations for phone upgrades?  I'm eligible for an upgrade on the 27th but want to wait maybe for a whole another year.

Same thing happened to me!  I was previously eligible for an upgrade 9/13.  Now it's stating I'm not eligible until 1/14.  Seriously?  I had read somewhere that they were extending the contracts to 24 months for those that have an expiration date after January 2014 but I was eligible in Sept!  Shouldn't those that already had contracts in force be grandfathered anyway?  We did sign contracts. God forbid WE change something in the contract.  I didn't receive anything personally saying they were going to do this.  Seems they're going in the wrong direction as far as contracts are concerned.  Others are doing away with contracts. Very upset!

  • Best online backup for iMovie clips?

    Hi,
I shoot a lot of video and make movies using iMovie. I import clips from a video camera using Sandisk memory cards into iMovie.
My question is, I am looking for the best online data storage that would allow me to upload the video clips on the memory card to an online service. Then, in the future if needed, retrieve the clips of my choice and bring them either directly into iMove, or put them back onto the memory card which can be used to import the clips into iMovie.
Any recommendations? Preferably unlimited storage, and would allow me to group clips into differnt folders, ie dates or project names.
    Thanks!

I am using CrashPlan for this.
CrashPlan lets you seed your cloud backup with a 1TB disk drive that they send you, so that you only have to send online new files, or files that will not fit within 1TB.
I currently have about 2 TB backed up to the cloud. I have all my DV, all my h.264, and all my VHS and Hi8 backed up to the cloud. For my AVCHD, I only backup the archive copy from the camera, and the completed movie, because the Apple Intermediate Codec versions of the Events are too large to backup to the cloud on a timely basis. So the Archive copy is fine, and it is the first generation copy anyway. I also backup my documents folder, my iTunes library, and my iPhoto and Aperture libraries to the cloud.
I have a fast internet connection with 50 Mbs download and 10 Mbs upload.
Note: This is only for backup. I keep a local copy too.
If you make camera archives with iMovie, you can import from those. You do not have to move stuff back to the card. See this section of iMovie Help. http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov39f84817

  • Is there a time limit for importing clips?

It seems like any clip that I have thats over 4 minutes causes it to fail. I checked my System settings and the limitation is not selected.
In addition is there some kind of event log where I can find out why something has failed?

What drive is this material being recorded to? How is it formatted?

  • Time limits for nodes

I have a few users that are only allowed 3 hours for access to the Internet. It's not my rule, management wants to limit contractors to access the Internet for 3 hours a day.
I see where I can do a time rang ACL, like between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday.
I would like to do a 3 hour amount of traffic per a 24 hour period. So, they may access the Internet from 730am to 830am, and then from 3pm to 5pm on the same day. The time maybe different each day.
    Any suggestions?

  • Call time limiting for VOIP calls

    Hi,
i want to limit voip calls to a specific period of time. Is there a way to handle this issue (with or without gatekeepers)? I'm using IOS gatekeepers and gateways with FXS,FXO and BRI.

had same issues with disconnection with FXO for all my sites.
had a post with the resolution. mine was also loop start. asked service provider to put lines into a trunk (minimal cost). the reason for this is that we can enable disconnect to be handled from service proivder instead of the FXO itself. that fixed issue (BTW issue was that even though call ended, fxo disconnected after may two hours, and some didnt at all).
i also had a few routers that still gave a long diconnect time although i cocnverted, i had to enable the supervisory disconnection options as well as TIMING SUP-DISCONNECT parameter (Please note not available in all IOS versions). i set my disonnect to be 300 matching up to my provider. Now, all my sites are working great.
as for ground start, ive tried it once and that really did work great(for a time.) i did have issues later on where i couldnt make any calls outside etc etc. reverted to my initial loop-start workaround and that worked fine.
i am giving suggestions to try since i was in a serious dilema for a few months, trying to fix this. for me i know its frustrating so i hope it may help.

  • Php and time limits for users logging in

Hi I am needing to adjust the available times a user is
allowed access to files. I have heard of cron jobs but I was
wondering if in Dreamweaver if you set a variable as a date e.g.
    INSERT INTO employers ( paid_date ) VALUES (NOW());
and "SELECT paid_date FROM employers WHERE 'accesslevel' <
    ADDDATE(NOW(), INTERVAL 1DAY);"
I am trying to get my head around the best way. I was
thinking to insert the NOW() to get the current date but confused
myself how to incorporate this into their access level.
Hope someone has some ideas, it would save a lot of time to
    update the access level automatically.
