Time Machine error while trying to restore Mail.app
Ok, I'm not really sure how to explain the mess I'm in, but I'm going to do my best.
I accidentally deleted two very important Mail accounts. Before I realized that to restore them all I had to do was restore the library files, I attempted to restore the entire Mail.app.
When I did this, I chose to replace it with the backup from last night. Example: I had the Finder open, Mail.app selected, and went to the time machine and went back to last night. It asked me if I wanted to keep the original, keep both, or replace and I chose to replace. It asked for my password (I'm the ONLY user on this computer), I entered it, and then it told me I do not have permission to restore it.
Now, I cannot even open Mail.app. So... I can't even open it to bring it to the foreground to attempt to restore it that way.
How do I restore Mail.app in this case? I have the missing library files restored already... now... what do I do about the program?
FWIW, I'm on 10.5.4... not sure why I haven't upgraded yet.
Ok. I managed to get Mail.app restored... as in, I can open it and I can see the accounts that I didn't accidentally delete.
I restored the files in the Library and I can see the account there... now... how do I get them to show up in Mail.app?

Time Machine error while creating backup folder
Several times today I have gotten a popup message. "Time Machine error while creating backup folder". I click OK, and then the message appears again after a hour or so. I am using a WD My Book external drive as my backup media. I looked at the drive in Finder and the older (yesterday and beyond) backup folders are there.

I backed up my iMac with a "WD My Passport" using the Time Machine option and tried to restore my iMac but it only saved my applications none of my documents, photos nothing else! What happened?
There should be two sparse bundles on the TC, one for each Mac. If you click the TC in a Finder sidebar, you should see something like this (in Column View):
If you see the sparse bundle for the iMac there, but not on the window where you do a full system restore (after starting from your Recovery HD or OSX Install disc), they may be corrupted (especially if your iMac was failing at the time of the last backup).
Try repairing those backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
Then try the full restore again, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14. Note that if you suspect problems on the most recent backup, you might want to select an earlier one. -
Error when trying to restore mail-folder
Hi.
I've done a complete re-installation af Snow Leopard.
When trying to restore the mail folder via Time Machine i'm told: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for "mail'" I seems to me that i have both privileges to read and write in the folder.
I have no problems restoring my pictures and the likes?
Can you please help me?

Time Machine crashes when trying to view Mail
Using Time Machine to backup. I can see on my backup drive that it is producing the incremental backups.
In Finder, when I click on TM to view previous times/days, it works fine. I am able to view files and folders that were previously there. I am able to recover old files.
In Mail, when I click TM, it tells me to "Click Restore to retrieve" whatever mailbox I have selected, and then TM crashes within seconds. Mail stays open, as it is not effected.scottnl wrote:

That's not the best way to recover files, as you may have permissions or other problems with them. Use the TM "Star Wars" display (once you get it fixed).
In Mail, when I click TM, it tells me to "Click Restore to retrieve" whatever mailbox I have selected, and then TM crashes within seconds. Mail stays open, as it is not effected.
Does that also happen when you go into TM from a Finder window, or iPhoto?
Do you see not only the +Today (Now)+ window, but a "cascade" of windows behind it, and a TimeLine on the right? Is there a starry background, and is it moving?
If all those are "yes," then TM is having trouble reading your backups. Do a +*Repair Disk+* (not permissions) on the drive, via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
If any of those are "no," this can be caused by any of a number of things. Try these fixes:
If you're using a Finder replacement (such as Pathfinder), be sure the Finder is running.
If you're using Spaces, turn it off temporarily.
If you have a second monitor, or anything plugged-in to a video-out port, disconnect it temporarily.
De-select your TM drive via TM Preferences > Change Disk (select "none"), then re-select the correct one.
Do a "complete reset" of TM, as in item #A4.
Do a +*Repair Disk+* on your TM drive.
Try or create another user (System Preferences > Accounts). If it works ok from that user, delete the file:
+*<home folder of the user where it doesn't work>/Library/Preferences/com.Apple.Finder.plist+* -

I talked to TOshiba tech support and after going through this for a while. The tech ended up saying that the MBR is messed up and that I needed to buy a new hard drive. I can still access it via command prompt and SYstem Recovery. I booted up to DOS prompt with a WIN98 CD and did FDisk and format. Still got error. Tried startup repair. Received an "does not have a valid system partition" error.
I booted up to Ultimate Boot CD. Fixed partition problem. Now getting BOOTMGR missing. It has been too long since I worked computer support and do not know what to do to get this fixed. I find it hard to believe that I need new hard drive if I can do all of this with it. Please help.
Thank you.hi. Here's the answer to your problem i think. when you are copying the zzimages files to the temp folder you have to copy the zzimage files from ALL the restore disks, or you'll get that error message. and you can use the bootrec tool to fix the boot record. here's a link that tells how to do that. good luck. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Unknown error while trying to restore through iTunes
I was switching between channels when the unit became sluggish in responding to the remote. The screen went black and the USB to iTunes icon popped up on the screen. After some time and a google search I read what I had to do… using Itunes to restore the unit. Why this happened is a mystery. However the problem I am having is this... after several attempts to download from iTunes I get the following error message after about 60 MB downloading : "There was a porblem downloading the software for Apple TV "Apple TV". An unnown error occured ( -50).
Yes my network is working fine ( I am writing this message ) The apple TV is hooked up to my Air using the mini USB cord. And I tried the download with the unit plugged into AC power and unplugged from AC power. What else is there to do? Thanks!• Check that you have correctly followed the instructions for your model of Apple TV.
• If not already, try using a powered USB port.
• Repeat the process but this time try connecting the cable while iTunes is closed.
• Repeat the process with another cable.
• Try restoring the Apple TV on another computer in another location. -

Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.1 (built Apr 28 2004)
libimta.so 6.1 (built 13:10:36, Apr 28 2004)
Question is: when I try to send a mail to the user as
[email protected], it gives an error.
I am trying to send a mail from another of my linux machines as
telnet mahandi.startcom.com 25
at
rcpt to: [email protected], it throws the error:
550 5.1.2 unknown host or domain: [email protected]
What could be the possible reason for this.
thanks ,
Sandeep.I think I should first tell you what we want to do:-
For each message that comes in:-
1) we want it to be sent to our program
2) from our program we want to call our application that will go through the message, and on the basis of certain rules built into the application, will decide whether the message needs to be re-enqueued or discarded.
For the above I need to certain configurations.
I think I can use the intermediate_channel.c program that comes with the SDK in the /example/mtasdk directory, and from that program can call the application.
Please suggest on the above.
Coming to my present configurations.
No, I had not added the xloop_test channel to the job_controller.cnf file.
However, I had added the channel to the job_controller.site file as:-
[CHANNEL=xloop_test]
master_command=/opt/SUNWmsgsr/examples/mtasdk/intermediate_channel
(where intermediate_channel is the compiled version of the intermediate_channel.c pogram that comes with the SDK examples.)
Now, I have done something else:-
First, in the imta.cnf file, I have removed the
above 2 lines from the part I : rewrite rules, keeping the part 2 same and I added the following line:
$* $U%$D@x-looptest-daemon$Nxloop_test
I have added the following 2 lines to the job_controller.cnf file.
[CHANNEL=xloop_test]
slave_command=/opt/SUNWmsgsr/examples/mtasdk/intermediate_channel
With this configuration, my message is going to my yahoo account, and the mail.log_current file is showing the enqueue and deque, however, my intermediate_channel program is not being invoked.
This is where I am getting confused now.

Error while trying to restore - "Resource was not found"
I just got a replacement for my old 60GB color Ipod.
I plug it in to restore to make it compatible for windows, and this is what I get:
"THERE WAS A PROBLEM DOWNLOADING THE iPOD SOFTWARE FOR THE iPOD. THE REQUESTED RESOURCE WAS NOT FOUND".
That's the error message that comes on when I try to restore.
I am using the brand new iTunes. Thanks for the reply.
I did try and changed it several times but that didn't work. After about 4 hours of trying and disconnecting and removing deamon tools like someon suggested, i got it to be read, only to tell me that it is corrupt and that it needs to be restored.
After many tries again, i managed to restore it and start from scratch. It is currently working fine as I am loading it up with music. But if I disconnect it, that's it. No way to add any more new music, which completely *****.
I dont even know what I can do by now, and I dont see what could be the problem. -
Qosmio F45-AV413 refurbished Showing DMI.exe error while trying to restore
Here is the problem:
I formatted the original disc to install Vista in a different language with my own Vista disc.
After that, I couldn not make some drivers to work properly, so I decided to do a system restore.
I didnt have the discs so i asked Toshiba for some DVDs. They send them to me and after inserting the discs and choosing Toshiba restore utility from the menu it appears a window saying DMI.exe error and some codes and "memory could not be read" error.
After I press OK, it appears another window showing this error "03-eeee-0000"
After I press OK again. The disc is ejected and the computer shut down itself.
I updated the bios to the last version 1.9 and i changed the ram sticks with other ones that work ok, but the problem persists.
Searching in Google I read that it maybe something with the DMI from Toshiba, and it is fixed with a DMI update utility, but I did not find one for this laptop. Also I read something about the original MBR that is missed and Toshiba needs it for restoring. I do not think that is correct because I can install whatever OS I want with my laptop and I should restore the original OS when I want.
So please, I am asking for some help with this problem.
Thank you in advance.Hello
DMI.exe is part of the recovery process that is checking the hardware to make certain that you are not trying to load your OS to a different machine,
There is specific Toshiba information inside the Hard Disk so DMI could restore your preactivated version of vista.
you can install fresh windows vista and use the drivers in this page :

3014 error while trying to restore iphone after upgrading to OS7
I've spent my entire evening trying to recover my iphone 4S. I installed all the latest patches to MS Windows XP earlier in the evening, and then ran the update for iTunes. It failed part way through with the 3014 error.
I shut down my firewall to ensure that wasn't the problem.
Turned off my anti-virus software to ensure that wasn't getting in the way.
I uninstalled iTunes, and reInstalled.
I still getting the same error.
I now have a useless iphone with no OS on it unless someone can help me get past this error. I am so frustrated by this it isn't funny. any assistance would be appreciated.Hello there, Carina_iff.
