Time Machine giving Error Code -8004

My machine has been doing weird things for the past few days. (Locking up for no visible reason, losing the bookmarks created, and freezing just to mention a few) I tried to restore using my Time Machine but get Error Code -8004.
Do I have a virus? If so, where in the heck did it come from. I don't go to any bad websites. Machine has been working weird since I started playing Spider Solataire, on the AARP website.

There are no viruses that run on OSX. None. Zip. Zero.
There is some "malware," such as Trojans, for Macs, though. But (unlike viruses that can get onto your system without your knowledge), you must approve their installation (via your Admin password) and/or operation (via the "This application was downloaded from the internet ..." prompt).
Appropriately enough, some of these Trojans are included in pirated versions of Apple software, such as iWork!
(If you're running Windoze on your Mac, that's the same as running it on a PC, so it needs all the same anti-everything stuff you'd use on a PC.)

Time Machine giving error OSStatus 13

I have an Apple Mac Mini server running Mac OS X Lion Server and I got a new Time Capsule to do the backup.
I have set it up and everything's working fine except when i chose the Time Capsule as the back disk from Time Machine on the server, it gives me an error saying "Time Machine can't access the backup disk "Time Capsule". The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error 13.)"
Then i tried it from my Macbook Pro and it works like a charm. So what am i doing wrong on the server? Can anyone please help me resolve this issue.

Time Machine gives "error code -43" after leopard install

Hi folks,
This leopard install has been a mess. I have a one year old macbook on which I've done nothing unusual, and I ran the leopard install. Now I try to use leopard and I find that the one feature I bought it for, Time Machine, does not work. I clickon the icon either on the dock or in the application folder and I get "error code -43". I cannot launch Time Machine. Can anyone help? It is very frustrating to have to consider spending extra money for mac tech support when I haven't done anything out of the ordinary, I'm just installing their product on a recent laptop.
In addition, this leopard hogs 11 GB of hard drive space and has slowed my computer by at least 50%. Boy do I regret this upgrade, but I don't see any way to go back.

Constant errors from Time Machine with error code 36 and 8062

Hi chaps,
I have trawled the internet and spent a huge amount of time on this problem and can't seem to fix it.
This is the first backup on to a brand new external USB hard disk, formatted correctly.
It starts the backup fine and then stops and a random point normally before 5GB with the same error every time but on different files.
First it was failing on garageband so I excluded that, then it failed on a strange pdf that I can't find in User Templates which I excluded with no joy.
I've turned off spotlight for the external disk and tried several different formats, again with no success.
It first errors with 36 and then after 8062
Can any suggest what is going on please?

Are you certain? That's the most common cause of initial backups failing on a new disk (since most new disks come set up for Windoze), and has exactly your symptoms. Time machine giving error 60

I've been getting this: Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "My Macbook Pro" The backup disk image "/Volume/Data/MyMacbookPro.sparsebundle" could not be created (error 60) Anyone know how to correct this? I've deleted the disk in the Time Campsule and works fine when it does my MacPro ... but not for my MacbookPro.

I'm having the same problem. I had the problem back in December and it turned out that I was having a hard drive issue that the Apple Genius was able to fix with Disk Utilities. All was working fine until I went out of town for a couple weeks. When I came back I started getting the same message again. I just tried all the suggestions in mende1's reply and I still get two errors each time Time Machine tries to backup.
1. The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.
2. The Time Macine couldn't complete the backup. The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/MamasMBP.sparsebundle” could not be created (error 60).
So, I'm wondering if you ever figured out how to fix your's as it appears we have the same problem. My desktop is backing up just fine to same Time Capsule.

Click the Apple menu at the left end of your menubar. Select "About this Mac." You will get a window like this:
Your Mac OS version is indicates in the image by the upper red arrow. While you are there, please tell us what information you find for "Processor," where the lower red arrow is pointing.

How do I overcome / resolve an error code 8004 ?

I have purchased a film 'Stepmom' and when trying to down load I keep getting the message down load error code 8004. Does anyone know what this is and how I can fix it ?

Since Leopard is now out of production there will be no future updates so there is no point in filing an error report.

Time Machine Backup error - The backup disk image "/Volumes/Data/Extreme.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).

I am getting a Time Machine backup error "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Extreme.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1)."
Then a Finder window pops up with the backup directory in it. When I open it I see all the backups that were completed successfully and then the one there is simply always shows the data and .inProgress. I thought that maybe if I could delete the one that is perpetually in progress it would start a new one and run fine, but I won't let me delete it.

Reboot the TC.. or go to the 5.6 utility.. and disconnect all users.. to force it to reconnect.

time machine keep giving error 2, i have reformatted drive already, run safe disk boot on internal drive,
i have also gone through suggested steps on pondini.org, deleted time capsule prefs

Betty - actually, no. Rebooting alone didn't resolve the problem. Time Machine still wouldn't resume backups.
Once the directory was rebuilt via Disk Utility, it is up and running again, at least for a while.

Time Machine Backup Error. Time machine could not delete the backup disk image .sparsebundle

Time Machine is giving an error message. Time Machine couldnt complete the backup. I am using the Seagate GoFlex Home. Error message states Time Machine could not delete the backup disk image "/volumes/Go Flex Home Backup/iMAc.sparsebundle". Does anybody have any ideas?

I have deleted all files in the Time Machine backup via Windows, Finder, and GoFlex UI.
I think this is your problem.. you need to follow the exact setup from seagate to get TM running again.. please read the manual... I do not have one but I do have another brand of NAS and setting up TM involves a fairly complex set of instructions.. because it is not a native Apple device.. your computer does not recognise it as TM capable.. you need to use the work around the manual will explain.

Query Saving takes long time and giving error

Hi Gurus,
I am creating one query that have lot of calculations (CKF & RKF).
When I am trying to save this query it is taking long time and it is giving error like RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE, Query Designer must be restarted, further work not possible.

Solution
Assign authorization for roles
To assign authorizations for a role, execute the following steps:
1. Start Transaction Role maintenance (PFCG)
2. Select a role
3. Choose the "Change" switch
4. Choose tab title "Authorizations"
5. Choose the "Change authorization data" switch
6. Choose "+ Manually" switch
7. Enter "S_USER_AGR" as "Authorization object"
8. Expand "Basis: Administration"/"Authorization: Role check""
9. From "Activity" select "Create or generate" and others like "Display" or "Change"
10. Under "Role Name", enter all roles that are supposed to be shown or changed. Enter "*" for all roles.

Assign authorization for transactions
If a user is granted the authorization for changing a role, he/she should also be granted the authorization for all transactions contained in the role. Add these transaction codes to authorization object S_USER_TCD.
1. Start the role maintenance transaction (PFCG).
2. Select a role.
3. Click on "Change".
4. Choose the "Authorizations" tab.
5. Click on "Change authorization data".
6. Click on "+ manually".
7. Specify "S_USER_TCD" as "Authorization object".
8. Expand "Basis - Administration"/"Authorizations: Transactions in Roles".

Prevent user assignment
Having the authorization for changing roles, the user is not only able to change the menu but also to assign users. If you want to prevent the latter, the user must loose the authorization for Transactions User Maintenance (SU01) and Role maintenance (PFCG).

Time Machine reports error, Disk Utility says disk is OK!

Hi,
Time Machine has stopped backing up giving an error message as follows:
"The backup was not performed because an error occured while copying files to the backup disk.
The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I'm not sure how temporary it means, nor how much later - but this has been happening for the last few days and I have switched off and on, rebooted, closed all apps, changed usb port, changed usb cable, etc. to try and get it working again. Still get the same error.
When I run the backup disk through Disk Utility it says the disk is fine - "The volume Time Machine appears to be OK."
Anyone had this or similar before? Is there a known cause that I can fix to get the backups working again. Don't really want to lose the time machine history by formatting and starting again.

Fixed - looked at the error log in the console, found error messages re files it was not able to back up, excluded that folder from Time Machine. Now works OK.

If your phone is frozen showing the Apple logo, you need to try to force it into recovery mode to restore it as discussed here:http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808. If you're getting error 21, try disabling or troubleshooting your security software (anti-virus, etc.). This is Apple's discussion on error 21 (copied from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error21):
