Time management doubts and orientation
Hi experts!
I'm trying to customize the Time Management module in SAP. At the moment we only have running the Personnel Administration and Payroll modules.
We would like customized the time management modules with this requirements:
-Employees will have Planned Working Time. This working Time will be theroical.
-Every day employee goes to work and for every thay each employ will have a record with the real time entrance and real time output.
-We want compare the theorical time with the real time and in some cases maybe the delayed time should be descounted of the amount in payroll, only in some cases if manager thinks so. Otherwise not should be discounted.
Therefor we have some doubts:
-After customizing the time management module how we should set the infotype 0007-Planned Working Time?
-In some place I have read something about positive and negative time recording. I think we should use the negative time recording, do you think it's correct?
-What we should change on the payroll schema if we want discount the delayed or not allowed absences?
-We need customized the time evaluation schema or it is not necessary because we will use negative time recording?
Do you know where I can find more documentation to help me?

Time evaluation with planned times (0): Employees with this status are not selected for time evaluation. They cannot therefore be processed in time evaluation. The employeeu2019s time wage types are determined in Payroll time data processing.
Time Management Status for processing time data in Time Evaluation and passing on time wage types formed there to Payroll
Time evaluation of actual times (1) and Time Evaluation PDC (2): Employees with these statuses have all their actual times, that is, all attendance and absence data, recorded*. It makes no difference whether attendance times are recorded at time recording terminals or in the Attendances infotype (2002).
Time evaluation with planned times (9): These employees have only the deviations from their work schedule recorded for them. The employeesu2019 planned working times from their personal work schedule are used as the basis for time evaluation.
Time Management Status for processing time data in Time Evaluation without passing on time wage types formed there to Payroll
Time evaluation without integration with Payroll (7): You use this status to run time evaluation to handle special time accounts u2013 to accrue absence quotas, for example. It makes no difference whether all of the employeesu2019 actual times are recorded or only the deviations from the work schedule.
The system stores the results of this time evaluation run in cluster B2, which enables you to run reports on the data, for example. The results are not passed on to Payroll. The time data processing part of Payroll treats the employees as if they had the time management status No time evaluation (0).

Using SPAM/SAINT for the first time (Many doubts and questions)

I've made the search and found a lot of info.
Some kernel updates (I386 on my case), and my first question is: "How do I update this? Is it safe to be the first thing to be done?" Is it only copy to the Run directory (usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run)?
Also a component BC-FES-IGS has some updates, but I don't know what is this and how to update. (it says: Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel igsexe_16-10003071.sar)
All the rest (SAPK* files), seems to be normal patches that is possible to use spam to update them. Correct?
How to use SPAM/SAINT? What is used in one time, and on others? Do they do the same?

As SolMan is a dual stack machine, you can use JSPM to update the kernel. Another way is to extract the Kernel SAR files into the exe\run directory. It is a best practice to update the kernel before the support packages. Take a backup of the existing exe directories before you update the kernel and also pay good attention while downloading the kernel. you need to take care while choosing the correct version of the kernel (either 32 bit or 64 bit and ITANIUM or XEON). If you choose the wrong kernel, then ur SAP system will not come up.

Yes!!! You may have to update the latest SPAM/SAINT (SAPKD700*) before updating the SP's.
How to use SPAM/SAINT? What is used in one time, and on others? Do they do the same?
Support Packs can be updated using SPAM and the add-on upgrades has to be done using SAINT.

Time management status "0"and "7"

Kindly can you let me if we can use Time management status "7" when there is no TE instead of "0"?
My client is using "7" as Time management status and they don't have TE.

The Time Management Status plays an importnat and effets as to how u want the time Process in ur company.
Time Management Staus 0 : No time Evaluation which means no PT60 or RPTIME00 all u have to do is run The Quotas with the report RPTQTA00 if any.
And Time Management 7 is Time Evaluation without Payroll integration.But u said that u dont have Time Evaluation then why 7? It should be 0 but the other possibilty to have Time Management Status 7 is you can use RPTIME00 with schema TQTA for generation of time quota and that is without time evaluation.
So its better to have TMSTA 7 as u can use RPTQTA00 and RPTIME00 with TQTA both for generation of time quota.

TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

We are going to customize the Time Management (PT) and the Organizational structure (OM) modules in SAP version ECC 6. At the moment we have installed an configured a lot of SAP modules: Personal Administration (PA), Payroll (PY), besides other modules not related directly with HR like PM, MM, IS-U, etc.
We need::
- To be able to define the organizational structure of the company with every work unit, inside every work unit locate the employees with their functions and positions, etc.
- To know the number of employees that are avalaible for a service requirement (PM module)
- To manage with SAP all the absences when the employees don't go to work.
We have had training of some official courses but I think that they are not enough to achieve the goal, I think we need some kind of guide.
Do you know if exists any consult SAP note or other kind of document where it's explained the steps or the good practices for the customization of these SAP modules (OM, PT).

Query on Time Management Status
Dear Team,
Scenario:
We have some employees wherein the time evaluation will be evaluated for the status of 9 in Planned Working Time Infotype. After a period of time, these employees will be sent for education and no leaves are entitled. In this case, the time management status will be changed to 0. No time evaluation.
The accrued leaves will still be available for the employee while going to this education for example 20 days.
We have customized a rule, which will carry forward the last year balance to the current year balance on every 1st of the year.
In the above case, if an employee completes his education and returns back in the middle of the year other than the 1st day of the year, in this case, the carry forward of leave is not taking place.
My assumptions:
I would like to know an operation which would query the Previous Day Time Management Status and Current Day Time Management Status. If I can able to do this, if it is YES, the last old previous balance to be carried forward....
Please let me know if any other alternative method.

If you are planning on controlling thru a rule in schema, you can approach this way. Whenever an EE returns from education, change IT0007 time mgmt status to 9 along with additional time indicator say 'ED'. You can query the additional time indicator status in a rule thru the operation 'OUTWPATIND'. Hope this helps your requirement.

How to built rules in Time management so tht one absence type cannot be followed by another absence type for example Medical leave cannot be followed by Piad Leave but can be followed by Casual leave. ?I am also working on time managment module and my scenario is CL should not be combined with any other type of leave (PL, SL). Positive time or Negative Time. with or without time evaluation. How many PSA whether all have same type of work schedules, quotas and time management aspects.
Holiday Calendar: Query on Holiday characteristics like, floating holiday, distance to Easter, Movable holiday, Etc.
Holiday class:
Day type: whether particular holiday is paid, unpaid.
Breaks: Variable breaks, fixed breaks, dynamic breaks or overtime breaks.
Daily work schedule: start and end time, core timing.
Period work schedule: rotating shift - how many weeks, daily work schedule for 2nd week. , normal shift
Quota: How many Quotas, Base entitlements, how it has to get deducted?
when it has to get accrued. is there any condition for getting accrued.
How they want to generate the Quota manually or through report.
Please let us know incase you require any further clarification.

Q) If in a enterprise diversified daily work shedule are there, i.e if aemployee is working 4hrs a day & other is working 6 hrs per day, & other is working 1 day a week and the client does not want these many of work shedules.
What advise you give to the client

If your client is persistent of not wanting too many work schedules, Flexible Work Schedule will resolve your issue.
- assign a Flexible workschedule(planned working time is 24 hrs 0:00-24:00) for all these kind of employees.
- I hope you know the effects of Flexible workschedules- Then you need to desing your schema as positive time eval
If your client does not like this idea, as others suggested no essay way ...

Time management status 0 means - Employee's actual times are not recorded, and his/her time data is not accounted using the time evalulation program. here the time wgetypes are formed by payroll.
Time management status 9 means - Employees for whom only exceptions to the work schedule are recorded. In this case, the employees' actual times are not recorded, but they do participate in time evaluation.ie (.Evaluation of planned times.)

Time management can be divided into 3 steps
1.Time Recording
2.Time Evaluation
3. Planning
Time Evaluation :
The recorded time data is grouped and converted to wage types which can be used by payroll for compensation.SAP provides a time evaluation program RPTIME00 for this purpose.
Standard schemas TM00 and TM04 are used for evaluation of time data got from positive and negative time recording approaches.
time evaluation program RPTIME00 also calculates accrual and entitlement for employees.

Time machine sharepoint and managed preferences
I have added a share point as a time machine backup destination, and it shows up with Bonjour users. But I am setting up some machines with managed preferences, and I add the time machine volume in the time machine managed preferences pane, and supply the whole network path (afp://server.com/TimeMachine).
The settings are added to the managed machine, but it can't mount the backup destination. Gives me error "The backup disk is not available".
This error doesn't show when the disk is manually chosen in Time Machine preferences on non-managed computers.
Any ideas?it sounds like you are using an OS X server. I suggest you post in the Snow leopard server forum
