Time on wake

what is 'time on wake' in the iPod nano 6th generation

Means when you wake the ipod, it will display the clock face. Useful if you wear it as a watch.

  • Takes a long time to wake up ??

hi all, i have just got a new MacBookPro (mid 2012) i previously had an early 2011 for over two years until it broke down !.
my new MBP takes a long time to wake up, it seems to have crashed when i first open the lid, but no, it isnt crashed, it takes about a minute or more to wake up properly, my previous MBP woke up immediately under exactly the same circumstances, they both have Mountain Lion etc. so i cannot for the life of me understand why they should be so different ?.

If the suggestions mentioned in KB Article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 Apple Portables: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) suggest you do the following:
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.  Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.

  • Macbook Pro takes long time to wake from sleep

Hi, I have recently purchased the latest Macbook Pro (Mid-2012, not the Retina display version), and I've noticed if the Macbook is left switched on, with the lid down and not plugged into the mains, it will take a long time to wake from sleep. I've looked for similar posts, and everyone describes it as a long delay, but for me the screen is greyed out (but transparent) and a process bar appears, which fills up and then the display loads properly, but it takes a further 30-50 seconds to activate things like the mouse and wifi etc (it feels like it has completely frozen).
Has anyone experienced this and is it normal? I looked up standby mode, but am led to believe this is only with the retina display models, so am a bit worried.

    Hi Thumbnut,
This article may help explain what is going on:

    I hope this helps!

  • After sleeping my macbook pro 15.4" mid 2012 model for overnight and pass 24 hours time, on wake -- the dock background is white for a few seconds and then it turns back to normal color. . .

After sleeping MacBook Pro 15.4" mid 2012 model (running Mac OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite) for overnight and pass 24 hours time, upon wake from sleep-- the dock background is white for a few seconds and then it turns back to the normal color.
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Is my GPU defective?
    My specs:
MacBook Pro 15.4" Mid 2012 model, Ivy Bridge Quad core i7 2.3Ghz CPU w/ hyperthreading,
    16GB RAM, Nvidia 650M 512MB VRAM/Intel 4000 HD 1GB VRAM, 500GB HD
    Running Mac OSX 10.10.2 Yosemite.
    Thanks to all in advanced.

It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes and i tried zapping the PRAM and it still happens!

  • IPod 6th gen time on wake - not working?

Hello, I am trying to use the "time on wake" function of the nano, but it does not go to the clock but rather to "Now Playing" when I wake it from sleep.
Under Settings, General, Date & Time, I have enabled "Time on Wake"
If I then get out of Settings and put the nano into sleep, when I push the wake button it comes back up to the "Now Playing"
Am I doing something wrong - this seems pretty straight foward.
    Thanks.

This feature is somewhat buggy and as seen by many posts of this same type the clock has a tendency to default to now playing with the music or podcast you last listened to in pause mode.
This has become a very annoying bug that even after setting the Time on wake feature does not fix it.
I have found an equally annoying work around that I hope Apple will fix in the very near future.
Once the "Time on wake" feature stops working due to listening to your favorite podcast or song you must connect up your nano to your computer and sync it with iTunes then it works until you listen to another song or podcast. My nano is brand spanking new 12/28/2011 and came with this bug....I guess Apple didn't count on the watch feature becoming so popular ? ?
My software version is 1.2 using iTunes 10.5.2.11
Let me preface this by saying this is how a nano on Windows responds, if you are using your nano on a mac you may have an entirely different experience where the nano just works the way it should or some other variation of this problem.

  • Time to wake up..

Verizon is out here to make money.. They don't care about customer service or any other of the propaganda they spread.. Money, Money, and more money.. It is time to wake up and smell the coffee..

The companies you listed are selling tangible items. Clothing, jewelry, household goods.and cell phones.
Verizon is selling a service. A connection to the network. Can you make a phone call? Can you browse the web?
You see verizon purchases cell phones and devices to have you connect to the network. If you lose connection you call Verizon if the device stops working blame the maker of the device and verizon helps you under manufacturer warranty to get it replaced. That in my opinion should be placed squarely on the makers of the devices and not verizon.
These phone updates which people here keep blaming on verizon actually come from the makers of the devices. Yet each update puts more blame on the service provider. Apple updates their own devices and not verizon but read all the posts of my iPhone does not work after iOS 7 update. Why blame Verizon? They did not send out the update.
Yeah you also hear about with the droids all the bloatware and apps verizon puts on which may make the device unstable. Well again have the maker of the devices totally responsible for these updates. Problem solved.
As long as your connectivity is stable and your 3/4 G is available you are getting the service you paid for.
    Good Luck

  • Every time i wake my mac i get This computer's local hostname "D-360.local" is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to "D-444.local".

error message that my local host name is in use and the system generates a new one every time I wake my mac the error mssg reads This computer’s local hostname “D-360.local” is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to “D-444.local”.

There are several possible causes for this behavior.
    1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local". Resolve the name conflict by renaming one or more of them in the Sharing preference pane.
    2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
    3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
    4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
    5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.

  • Why does iChat launch every time I wake my computer?

Very annoying. Since upgrading to Lion, every time I wake my monitors, iChat starts up. It is not in login items and I can't find anything in the preferences that suggest it should behave this way. It feels like naggy shareware, but even that would have been something I intentionally installed. I've removed all of my accounts from iChat and still it wants to start up every time I wake the computer.
I thought I had the problem licked:
    http://bertrandaaron.wordpress.com/2011/12/05/stubborn-ichat-after-upgrading-to- os-x-lion/
But after my next reboot the iChat wizard wanted me to set up a new account. NO, THANKS. I just want it to stop launching in the first place. When I want to use iChat, I'll launch it manually.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
My first thought would have been Login Items in your User Account (System Preferences > Accounts > your Account > Login Items).
    Next option
Open iChat if it is not open.
You should be able to open the iChat Menu > Preferences
    Go to the Accounts section.
Highlight the Bonjour account and see that it is NOT enable in the right hand pane  (If the account is Ticked (in the list) it is Active )
    Next place.
Lion does have this ability to remember if a window is Open on Shut down and will reopen it.
Check the System Preferences > General Section for the setting that does this under the number of Applications, Documents, and Servers that you can set to be remembered.
There is also a similar Setting in the Shut Down Message.
I would try turning both of these Off and cycling through a Shut Down and reboot sequence.
That should stop it launching on Computer Start up or Wake but it will not solve what is causing it.
Most likely it is a name that can be used in Mail or Face Time as well as iChat such as an Apple ID from MobileMe.
Also Check your Entry in the Address Book (My card = Head and SHoulders iCon) and make sure it does not list an name iChat can use.

  • Mac Pro restart every time it wakes from sleep

I wonder if anyone has this problem, it is not a big one but annoying. Every time I wake my Mac Pro from sleep it restarts, why is that and can it be fixed? Or there is something wrong with this model?
    Model info:
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
    Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz

It is big if the hard drive directory is corrupt in the process.
It was common when 2008 first came out, there is/was a firmware update to address this - and a long thread from March era 2008.
Underpowered UPS can also cause this behavior.

  • Does Time Machine wake my computer up every hour?!

    I am finding mixed answers...
Does time machine wake up the computer to do the hourly backup?
It seems to do this, as it made eight backups last nite.
if so, what's the sense? any way to prevent this?

    Hello all:
I rarely make statements without qualifying them. However, TM does not wake a sleeping computer. If a computer is waking up, something is causing that to happen besides TM.
    Barry
Edit: I believe that dwb has a good thought. Go to system preferences>energy saver>sleep and see what you have indicated the system should do.

  • SOMETIMES POWER BOTTON TAKES TIME TO WAKE UP PHONE

SOMETIMES THE PHONE TAKES TO MUCH TIME TO WAKE UP WITH THE POWER BOTTON WHEN I LOCK MY SCREEN I HAVE UPDATED TO ANDROID 4.4 AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

You could try performing a system repair using Pc Companion as this will often fix issues however this will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Should that fail then you need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Need to re-add Bluetooth keyboard every time after wake up?

Every time I wake my MacBook Pro up from sleep, my Bluetooth keyboard does not work; I have to re-add it via the Bluetooth preference pane to be able to use it again. This started happening a few days ago—I've had my keyboard for about a year. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance!

I trashed the file and then after a few days had the same problems. Also, my keyboard's battery level appears to be fine. I only started having this problem over the last few weeks; I've had my Bluetooth keyboard for about a year.
