Time or speed ramping

Unless I'm missing something there seems to be no facility in Audition CS6 to ramp the speed of audio either up or down, say for instance to match a video where things speed up by increments. Am I wrong?

CS6 doesn't have any form of speed ramping as far as I know.
The next version (Audition CC) has the Pitch Bender feature back--really useful in sound design terms but I'm not sure that's exactly what you want.

  • FCP clip time remapping / speed ramping question re realtime after changes?

    Hello All,
My first post here! I tried searches for this topic but didn't find....
I wasted hours today messing with the keyframe editor to try and ramp parts of a single clip... first time using this feature and couldn't follow the manual! way too difficult to grasp without fluency in 'techygeekconfusic' lingo. Anyway, I don't think the topic was covered from what I read in my version of the manual.
So I went straight for the keyframe editor graphic display under the clip in timeframe and put in a few points with the pen tool (using time graph blue line) and seemed to be going great until I realised that the segments in the single clip (ten minutes long) that I was adjusting were affecting what came after - ie slowing down the remainder of the clip. And that was all I could get from my manual that this happened without any explanation about stopping it happen by letting the outpoint of the clip readjust automatically for the changes made to that part of clip so that altered clip would be shorter in timeline...
I then tried again from the start but noting the minus time on pentool arrow when I slid each keyframe point back and subtracting it from the duration in motion tab and that seemed to work for a while...
but God bless my little brain! what I really wanted to happen - for the blasted thing to readjust itself automatically after I had adjusted a segment of the clip so that the remaining non-adjusted part would play in realtime with a new shorter outpoint in the sequence timeline - just couldn't be realised in my little brain or in the 'user friendly' control panels of FCP.
I tried to get hold of the 'bezier' point at the end of clip and drag forward at the same rate as each change but could'nt get hold of it! I tried to put two points with pen tool at same time but couldn't isolate them from one another to create four points for adjustment without having still frames between.. blah blah.. I tried to get snapping to the pen tool points for further control but couldn't... duh!
Please! how do you do it! obviously I have limited intelligence but I need to do this now. I want to adjust the 10 minute clip (DVCproHD 720p24N format - not that this should matter as my sequence settings are same) adjust the clip at maybe 10 different places so that it ramps in speed to cover up some boring areas and then back to normal speed after the changes - not back to some slo mo **! speed.
I tried cutting with the razor tool to isolate and that didn't work either and other analogue brain type stuff ok I know you are laughing at me now but please help?!! I'm pretty new to this stuff, give me the old reliable Steenbeck and a few real bins and strips of film hanging on clothes pegs and I'll be ok...
Help will be most gratefully appreciated!!!!!!!!

Andy did a very good job explaining the underlying problem with the time remap tool.
The key thing to remember is the first and last frame are fixed in time. If you speed up the clip, time after that keyframe will have to slow down to compensate. Imagine the clip is a rubber band that has been cut so that it is a long string-like form. Now imagine anchoring each end of it with a push pin to a board. If you grab a point on the band and pull it toward one of the pins, the part of the band on the side you are pulling away from the anchor will stretch (run slower) and the side you are pulling toward will bunch up (run faster). But, when all is done, the start and end will still be at the fixed points.
The way I've worked through this is to make a general guesstimate of how long the clip will be once all the ramping is complete. For example, I want the clip to start at normal (100%) speed and ramp up to 300% and back down to 100%. I might start with a clip having a constant speed of 200% and then change it to variable and play with it. The key concept is if you can get the overall LENGTH to where it should be, the rest works out fine.
I have repeatedly asked in the FEEDBACK/New Features page that they add a toggle to the speed/time remap tools. This toggle should allow you decide whether the playback TIME for the clip should be fixed or flexible.
For example, if you were working with a 4 second clip and wish to slow it down by 50% -
If 'Maintain Time' is toggled ON, when you decrease the speed of clip by 50% - the clip will still play for 4 sec (but will show only half the total frames).
If the toggle is OFF, the 4 sec clip will now play for 8 sec and will display all the frames.
Where this concept becomes really powerful is when it's applied to time remap. If you have 'Maintain time' toggled OFF, as you adjust speed, the end point of the clip will float in time. If you increase the speed, the overall time of the clip will shrink. If you slow it down, the end point moves out in time.
We need to keep asking ...

  • Copy and Paste Variable Speed Ramp Curves?

Is there any way to copy and paste variable speed ramp curves from one shot to another.
I've got a rough cut with lots of speed ramps, and now I have to conform renders that came back from Color (pre-prepped with out ramps) to the offline with the same frame ramps.
I can't seem to do it any other way than by eye match, which is less than great.

Right click a clip in the Timeline that has the settings you want to transfer. Choose Copy.
Right click a clip in the Timeline that you want to transfer the settings to. Choose *Paste Attributes > Speed.*

  • After importing video to iMovie it plays back at two time sthe speed. Can any one help? How

I am improrting movies from my digital camera, as i have done 50 times in the past. Now they play back in iMovie HD at two times the speed. What's up with that? Has anyone else had this problem and if so can it be solved?

I don't know if it's a fix, but when them clips(fast one's), are in the project, click on it's blue gear(inspector),> Clip Adjustment> Speed= should be 100%. If it helps until fixed, try and slow it down to normal. Just a tempory fix, unless you find the problem on that way.

  • Motion or Twixtor for Speed ramping & Retiming?

Can anyone tell me if Apple Motion can create "the same" speed ramping & retiming effects that Twixtor does?
    Yeah, I'm new!
    Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it has optical-flow retiming - it can analyze footage based on motion vectors. But it works pretty straightforward, Twixtor has a lot more options to control the effect, like using massk to track specific motion. So basically the technology is the same, but options are very limited.

  • Time issue (speeds up)

    Hello,
I have a problem with my new BB z10. When my z10 is not connected to internet and cannot correct time automatically, the time measurement doesn't work properly. It speeds up more that a minute for every hour.
For example, if I disconnect my phone from internet at the morning, after 8 hours, the z10 clock shows 14 minutes more that the actual time is. After I connect z10 to internet, the time will correct automatically. I did factory reset, but it didn't help.
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Jan

I also have a JBL On Time, and use my iPod touch with it. You are correct that it will start playing the first song listed in the song view. What I did to bypass this is to create a blank song that is less than a second long, and naming it AA (so it appears at the top of the list). Then turn on shuffle mode.
I understand that you can't choose a playlist for this, but the pros of the JBL On Time greatly outweigh the cons IMO.
    Best of luck!

  • Speed Ramping

I want a clip to progressively slow down as the clip ends, I also want it to start slowing down from a point at which i can choose, Anyways I can do this?  Basically Im a new user to Adobe Premiere Pro as it is much better than Sony Vegas and I'm just having some speed issues, like in the question I just want a clip to begin slowing down near the end of its length although I dont know how to do that. Time Remapping slows down the entire clip and i have used Time Remapping to slow down the clip but i want the clip to get progressively slower towards the end starting from a specific point, any help?

  • Time Capsule Speed!

I recently bought a Time Capsule from Apple and it does not seem to be causing me anything but problems. I backed it up with the Time Capsule plugged into my computer and my internet modem and it took 36 hours for approximately 70 gb of stuff. I continued to have many more problems regarding the Time Capsule being slow and AppleCare finally realized that it was my hard drive that was the issue. Today I got a new hard drive from Apple and the speed of my Time Capsule is slower than ever. It says that it is going to take 70 hours to transfer 8 gb of music back onto my mac. Is this normal?? Because if so, this definitely was not worth 300 dollars. Could somebody please help me resolve this slow transfer speed! I don't want to spend a whole week trying to get my things back onto my laptop. Thanks!!

you must be doing the back up wirelessly. The robustness of the network is all important in the wireless scenario.

  • Courtesy Callback & Reporting Impacts on Wait Time/Average Speed of Answer

    Hello,
With CVP Courtesy callback, if a caller selects to be called back and then hangs up, will that period of time be also considered in the Skill Group's wait times and average speed of answer?  Or is wait time only considered when the caller is physically waiting on the phone?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
The caller is still considered "queued" for the duration. The CVP app that does the callback is run as a non-interruptable script, and keeps the ICM call active until the decision is made to call back the caller. ICM does not see this as any different from a regular queued call.

  • Real time fan speed and temperature of the Thunderbolt Display

Is there software program that allows you to know the real time speed of the itnernal fan of the Thunderbolt display. Also I would like to monitor the internal temp of the TBD.  I have Istat which allows me to do both but only for my MBPro not my montior.
    Thanks.

Have you ever cleaned you machine? Since it's an iSight (which is actually 3rd generation, Ambient Light is the 2nd, Rev A the 1st), you can't open it but you can vacuum the air vents, which might help.

  • Will a time capsule speed up my wireless connection??

The router I have came from my broadband supplier (EE). When I connect my laptop (to router with cable) I can get speeds of between 10/14 mbps but when I unplug and connect wirelessly I'm lucky to reach 4 Mbps on a good day! Usually operates around 2/3mbps
The pc we have connects at a rate on average of between 3 and 5 Mbps.
My iPhone 5 which I have set to connect wirelessly when I'm in range of my router (to save my data allowance) takes ages to load pages and often gives the message unable to connect.
My son has an Xbox an htc tablet and iPod and quite often the connection drops whilst playing Xbox live and also has times where he cannot connect with his iPod or tablet.
I have only one telephone socket in the upstairs bedroom. So have only one place to connect the router. In the next bedroom we have the pc and downstairs we have the laptop and Xbox. The iPod and iPhone and tablet are used in various rooms in the house.
Would using a capsule distribute a better wireless signal???
EE are adamant that the problem is not with the router. That the wireless signal in their router works fine and that everything should work fine too but it doesn't!!
I do eventually want to upgrade everything to apple products, (Pc to Mac, laptop to MacBook, tablet to iPad) which is why I'm looking at the capsule but in the meantime I need to sustain a good wireless connection with the current items.
    Any advice please???????

Haven't heard of 'inssider' . Will give that a try.
I also have a Motorola baby video monitor in the room. Don't know if that can cause probs.
although I was told that other equipment (i.e. baby monitors) use G technology and wouldn't interfere with an N router)
This is not correct.. G and N both use 2.4ghz with the same band and same channels.
And unless the baby monitor is plugged into a computer it is not using wifi at all.. it is simply using the free band 2.4ghz.
Turn it off during the day and see if it makes a difference.
Unfortunately a program that analyses wifi cannot see things like cordless phone or baby monitors because they use different technology to wifi but still cause interference.
Wireless QoS, WMM (WiFi Multi media)
Supports up-to 300 Mbps data transfer
    Is this a dual router???
No it is single band.. 2.4ghz.
Dual band wireless uses 5ghz as well as 2.4ghz.
Since there is so much stuff using 2.4ghz these days people are moving the 5ghz but the range is much poorer so you need rather special high power units.. which are expensive.
Also the wireless card at the other end has to be compliant to 5ghz.. most laptops for instance are.. but a lot of desktop cards or devices still need 2.4ghz.
Didn't want to purchase one if its likely to not make a difference. Would be an expensive trial and error!!
Purchase from a store that allows return.
As I said .. wireless is not science.. it is not going to give predictable results.. ethernet yes.. if you pay to get it wired it will work exactly to spec.. it is science.. wireless is voodoo.. it is affected by too many factors to give predictable results. So you have no choice but to trial and error.. sorry!!

  • How can I time the speed at which a page loads?

    Hi,
I've tested my internet connection speed with a download test from CNET, but I was wondering if there was a stopwatch, that would record the time it took to open a page. Anybody heard of such a thing?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi
    View Menu>Status Bar, select it.
You'll see the page load on the left, time load on the right.

Opps - now I'm too fast!
With Firefox open, enter http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/installation.html in the URL window. This will install this add-on to the browser providing the time load indicator.

  • Time Machine Speed ?

Apologies for starting yet another Time Machine/Time Capsule thread/post.
I am wondering if there is any way of increasing the speed of Time Machine, using Time Capsule.
When I enter Time Machine it seems ok, kinda takes a mo to getting everything into gear, but when I select a date, or use the arrows it kinda locks up and then takes ages to navigate etc... I'm not sure if it's a connection problem, or just the software - wondered if anyone else had the same problem and fixed it ?

I have previously re-installed the Time Capsule, Erased the contents, using Airport Utility then done a Factory Reset (Holding down the reset button) I then got everything going as before, initial back up, Internet settings etc. so that I was at the stage of the Time Capsule being fresh in terms of usage.
I then connected via Ethernet, but not using the WAN port, because my internet connection is in there.
    - I then entered Time Machine... but I still get this disappointing lag once I enter Time Machine, I can sometimes hear the hard drive in the TC writing/or performing (basically making a noise) So I presume it's going to work, as in, gets itself into gear but it seems to be a lazy TC - I have to wait a considerable amount of time, (if not forever) between backup points (when in Time Machine)
I thought I would ask for any advice, on using the TC both as a hard drive and internet router, and also if I am using the WAN incorrectly or anything else anyone may know to advise.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Long ping times, slowish speed

    Hoping can get help here
I am fairly close to the exchange ~800m
Used to be with BE Broadband got about 23Mbs, changed to Annex M 20Mbs 2Mbs up,
Came to BT after O2/BE bought out by Sky,
Get about 13.5Mbs, even though Hub shows 17.5Mbs
second is ping time, over past month ping has jumped from ~33ms to 297ms-450ms, packet loss is off the scale.
I managed to convince Bt to give me another router, because read that might be issue, but issue has stayed.

  • Peak Times Infinaty speeds less then IDSN

Yes this is yet ANOTHER post about  the horrific uslessness of the bt fiber team and infinaty team and support in genral.
i hav ebeen having issues since the start of the year really. i have proff dating back almost that far and bt have done nothing to solve the issue  like every one else it seems on the forum they as you to run the  further diags and send the results problem is they HAVE NOT EVER WORKED Further more the times im having problems is  handaly after all the call senders are freaking closed and none one is able to help. some of the results from over this LONG  standing issue.
i might wanna add every time i have talked to a support worker  at bt  and bt wholesale and bt  fiber team i have  folloed everythign they have asked of me including the usless waste of tie powercycling my equitment 15,000 times .
one opperator even insisted  i did it and i was to unplug my phone while on the line to him at this point i refused to deal with him further becuse he clearly had no grasp oh realiaty and could not understand i was on phone talkign to him so unpluging it would just terminate my  support  call that i had  sat in a line for  20 mins, on another  occation some one transfermed me to another team that had gone home and had me sit on a line for 45 mins with no  hope of the line ever being picked up, i confermed this when i called back on another telephone and told them i had been waiting  for this other team for 45 mins and what the hell is going on.
at this point i would rather go back to talk talk boardband it was a slower connection on paper but it worked.

fFrst may i state this is a MUCH nicer and useful way of asking a question thank you.
I am on bt infiniaty 1 unlimited my phone line had a a new line feeded to house becuse 3 of my pairs were busted  out of the 5 layed  so the line is clean. no buzz etc but i also have fiber to the premises so i litrally dont use the copper out side now.
