Time recording in ESS

Hi,
We set the lower and upper limit to 4 weeks for the timesheet scrolling but in the portal, the "record working time" iview you can scroll beyond the 4 weeks that we set in the timesheet profile.
Any ideas? Is there another parameter that needs to be maintained?

Chris - We are on ECC 6.0 and EP7. In ECC, the the tolerance level set on CATS profile works fine. It's only in the portal that it's letting you scroll indefinitely.
Suresh - I am also glad that I am not the only one with this issue. If you hear back from them with solution please let me know. I'll do the same. Thanks.

I'd like to to time recording via ESS and would like to know which permissions/rights a user needs in the portal and the above all of them in the backend system.
Is it neccessary that the User in the backend system is a user of user type Dialog or could this also be an user with another user type?

Please make sure that the User has ESS authorisation
he needs to have the authorisation like recording times, Normal cats authorisation, please check help.sap.com for which infotypes to be necessary Like 316 etc

Time Recording in ESS is tied to CATS?

Hi, I am new to ESS//MSS. I am HCM consultant, like to know more on ESS side. I heard Time Recoding is linked to CATS data entry profiles. Is this only way we can enable time recording using ESS? In other words all the web-dynpro's provided in ess package is tied to CATS? If company is using ESS that means they are using CATS in back end?

Sorry to reiterate, I was asking in ESS, is iviews are tied to CATS? in other words if company is implementing ESS, do they need to first setup CATS? Some thing is confusing CATS is used for data transfer and for having approval workflow.
From the process point, Data can be loaded from Time Recording systems into individual info types (IT2001, 2002..) OR can be pushed to CATS and then transferred into info types. My question, Is Time recoding using ESS portal is tied to CATS or can be pushed to individual info types with out CATS? vanilla instance (out of the box)

Time Recording in ESS - Error of networks name

Hi,
I've installed the ESS business package for portal in version 600.
When I activate the Record Time web dynpro application and try to review the working time I get an error:
- Error of networks name
- Erroneous records exist. Navigation is not possible.
I can record time in CAT2 trans in the winGUI with no problem.
When I want to delete entries in the Web Dynpro GUI that I recorded in winGUI - no problem too.
Can anybody help?

Time Constraints on ESS - Record Working Time and Leave Request

Hi All,
I have configured Time Constraints and their reaction in V_T554Y.
When I record the appropriate combination of Attendances and Absences in back-end, I can see the reactions as specified... However, when I try to do the same in ESS - Recording Working Time and Leave Request, I do not see that Time Constraints taking effect on the front end.
Here is what I have done:
I have two attendance - P001 and P002. P001 is configured to be recorded on Leave Request where as P002 is configured to be recorded via Record Working Time (CATS) link.
I record the attendance P001 in Leave Request and also post that into infotypes. After this, I try to record P002 in the Record Working Time Screen and I still get errors (Errors are from: HRTIM00REC E/207 and LR E/335)
If I try to replicate the same in the back-end in IT20002, then there is no issues.
Can anyone help and let me know how we can implement the same Time constraints reactions on the front-end and the back-end.

Note that Time constraints are not valid for Leave request and Working time ie in ESS
it only comes via PA30
in CATS too, we dont follow much HR related collisions checks these are taken into consideration during CAT6
and in leave request via Rptarqpost
so its not gonna work, Its intended and correct! go for a user exit cats0003 or check cac1 profile customisation

Changing the default tab in Record Working Time iview of ESS

Dear experts,
How can we change the Default tab from WEEKLY to DAYLY in Record Working Time iview of ESS .

We have been told by SAP this is not possible to do.
There may be some changes to this in Ehp 5, but I am not sure.

Time record approval with ESS/MSS

Hello,
I am new to MSS and I am facing some problems. I would like to get the time approval process started.
The projects are set up with cProjects and then transfered to PS. The WBS-items are taken for the time recording. Now I would like to approve this time recordings.
Unfortunately I don't have an idea what has to be configured to use the uwl:
- I think that I need to customize CATS to use the workflow (but which one)
- and then to configure the UWL in order to get the items...
Is this true?
Navigation through the portal and calling "team" in the MSS-menu an uncaught exception occurs saying that I have to configure infotyp 0008 for the employee I am using. Why do I need to set up the infotyp 0008 in order to see my team?
Calling the application for approval direct leads to the MSS overview.
Could somone bring some light in my darknes and tell me what I have to configure so that the project manager / line manager can see the recorded time that needs to be approved?

Error while approving time sheet in ESS using workflow

Hi Experts,
We have created a data entry profile for ESS time recording and in that we have used the standard task id TS20000460 for SAP workflow with auto determination of recipient. Whenever employee enters the time and save it the workflow is trigring and its going for manager's approval. But however when manager trys to approve it's throwing below error.

Critical error while trying to call the time record app

Hello,
I just finished to configure ESS and would like to start the time recording.
Unfortunately I can only call the working time in the upper menu and the overview is shown. Pressing now the link to the time recording an critical error with an exception occurs:
A critical error has occured. Processing of the service had to be terminated. Unsaved data has been lost. Please contact your system administrator.
The current statement requires a character-type data object., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
Could someone give me an hint where to start looking for the problem?

To transfer time events from external time recording system to sap r/3

hi all,
I have a task to make an interface program between external time recording and sap r/3, and then to transfer the time events from that external system to sap system with the help of an rfc, i have got some information like the data first has to be transferred to the table CC1TEV and then from this table the data will be uploaded to 2011 infotype with the help of a standard program, but i am unable to find a solution for making the interface program and the RFC or BAPI which will transfer the records from external system.
if anybody has any information on this plz help me out to solve this problem.

It seems that I've solved this issue. To get it work:
1. Select checkbox Time Recording and Travel Expenses via CATS for project type. Path: SPRO —> SAP Customizing Implementation Guide —> SAP Portfolio and Project Management —> Project Management —> Structure => Define Project Types
2. Run/schedule a synchronization with the report DPR_CATS_CPR_TRANSF (Transfer of CATS Itemizations to Project Management Application).

Hiding custom column in Weekly view of the Time Entry in ESS

We have added a custom field to time entry (CAT2). This field is displaying in both (weekly and daily) view of the time entry screen in ESS. Our requirement is too display the field only in daily view.
Is there a way to hide the custom column in the weekly view of the time sheet in ESS?

well it would require modification to the iview , it wont be a easy quickfix cause you lauch the iview it is built using CAC2 field customisation
you can explore Personalisation for the daily view hope it can work!

The user is getting a critical error(com.sap.pcuigp.xssfpm.java.FPMRuntimeException) when trying to access his time statements from ESS portal. The user recently moved to a different country and trying to access statement there. Are there any country specific paramaters that are needed to be changed or set when a employee is reallocated?

We are also facing similar kind of issue.
When i select type of leave as annual it is giving an error message as
" Parameter missing in call of method BUILD_ACTOR_SELECT_CLAUSE in class CA_PT_REQ_ACTOR "
But when i select some other leave type and click review it is working fine, again if i click on previous step and change the leave type to annual it is working fine without giving any error message.

Dropdown Custom Field in CATS Time Sheet in ESS

I have added a custom field in CAT2 transaction with drop down values from the custom table. When I log on to ESS I was not able to see the dropdown in timesheet for that field. I am able to configure the field to have a search help dialog box.
Let me know how can I configure the field to show dropdown values in time sheet in ESS? Appreciate your replies.
