Time remap multiple keyframe between markers

Hello to all!
First of all, just want to apologize for my basic English. I will try to explain as clearly as I can.
I have a complex animation layer, which is precompose in another comp which I want to run this animation with markers. If the animation is comprised of two key frames is no problem. You can control the animation of a number of ways, such as using valueAtTime() or linear() ease() function.But when more than two keyframes need to allocate between the two markers is not so easy problem to solve. I tried to change a little Dan Ebberts'(by the way, thanks to him for all!) expression, but still did not work.
n = 0;
m = thisComp.marker;
if (m.numKeys > 0){
  n = m.nearestKey(time).index;
  if (m.key(n).time > time) n--;
if (n==1){
mStart = m.key(n).time
mDelta = ((m.key(n+1).time - mStart)/numKeys)
for(i = 1; i <= numKeys-1; i++){
  kVal1 = valueAtTime(key(i).time)
  kVal2 = valueAtTime(key(i+1).time)
  linear(time, mStart+(mDelta*i), mStart+(mDelta*(i+1)), kVal1, kVal2);
}else{0

Hi Mylenium!
The reason due to which I am forced to use an expression that I do not the final product, and that sort of designer to create operational schedules for local TV. I'm trying to achieve this level of automation in which not even a dedicated AfterEffect person can easily assemble ready to release a product.

  • Time remap not keyframing in Premiere Pro CC

    I'm trying to keyframe Time Remapping in Premiere Pro CC 7.0.1, following the Adobe TV Tutorial (which uses a version of CS6/CC previous to the July 2013 update) and am unable to add keyframes directly to the timeline or adjust speed keyframes in the Effects tab. Am I missing a newer technique?  I'm on a Mac Pro, OSX 10.8.3. with Nvidia Quadro 4000.  Thanks

  • AE CS5 Time Remapping Keyframes missing

    Does anyone know why the keyframes are not automatically inserted at the in and out points of a clip after selecting layer,time, time remapping?

    Keyframes aren't inserted at the In and Out points of the layer; they're inserted at the beginning and end of the layer.
    Is that not what you're seeing?

  • Undesired time remapping

    This one has me stumped. I'm thinking it's related to render files, but can't quite figure it out.
    Had a piece that contained several clips that were speed-reduced to 40%. Not strictly time-remapped with keyframes and all, just speed reduced.
    Piece was great, rendered all, compressed, delivered. All was well.
    Then, to open up some space on the hard disk for the next project, I made a couple of poorly-thought-out stabs at removing unused clips with media manager and/or find:unused. These didn't really go anywhere, and I don't believe I actually ended up removing any clips. Some were briefly offlined, then reconnected, but none were actually removed.
    What did happen was FCP gave me some funky time-remapping in clips that were never time-remapped to begin with.
    Any ideas how this might happen? When I play the master sequence down in FCP, everything looks great, but when I double-click on some of the clips in the sequence and view them in the viewer, they're all screwed up; time remapped, jittery, just weird, and not at all like they appear in the sequence.
    When I export the current master sequence to compressor, it doesn't come out looking like it does when I play it in the canvas...it comes out with the individual clip weirdness that I see when I view the clips individually in the viewer.
    So I'm wondering if when I play the sequence I'm looking at the render files, but when I open the clips I'm looking at...something else?
    And to add to the weirdness, when I open my backup project file, I get exactly the same weirdness.
    Ideas?

    are the original QT capture files normal or have they been affected?
    i know when i have done time remapping (just reducing speed) and then have dumped the original files only to recapture them later that if I dont recapture them on the exact hard drives listed during reconnecting the media, that fcp screws everything up.
    7 second clips contain minutes and minutes of footage.....that or a 7 sec. clip will be a still shot that I never used.
    I have found media manager to never work properly so i just dont use it anymore.....
    if you have time try and recapture all the original footage on the original hdrives and see if that helps.....
    thats the best i can do....so i hope it helps.....

  • Keyframe spacing tweak in Time remap possible?

    I do a lot of time remap keyframe tweaking in AE, so i tend to zoom in all the way into the timeline.
    Is there a way to reduce the spacing in between the frames? Then i'll be able to display more frames onscreen. Thanks!

    I'm not sure what you're asking here. You can see more frames in the timeline by simply clicking on the left most icon at the bottom left of the time line zoom controller. A single click will show you twice the frames in your time line, The next click will show you five times the number of frames, the next will show you 10.  If you want to see more frame numbers displayed at the top of the timeline, then the answer is no. The frame numbering will go from every frame to every other frame, to every five frames.
    1   2   3   4
    to
    2  4  6  8
    to
    5  10  15  20
    and so on.
    If you want to have more frames in a second  then you can re-set the frame rate of your composition all the way up to 99 frames per second. This will not change the length of a movie in seconds in your timeline, but you'll be able to set keyframes to a higher degree of accuracy in time. In other words, if the video in the timeline is 10 seconds long when your comp is 24 fps it will still be 10 seconds long when the comp is 99 fps but you'll be able to set a keyframe at 1 second and another keyframe at 1.0101010 seconds instead of one at 1 second and the next one at 1..04166 seconds. Just make sure to change the frame rate back to your desired playback frame rate before you render.

  • How to apply Time Remap to multiple clips simultaneously

    Quite often after trimming many different clips for a wedding video I will then want the majority of them slowed down to a 50% speed. I know how to apply the Time Remap Speed % change in the Motion Tab, but have yet to figure out how to make the change to multiple clips simultaneously.
    Thanks for your help!

    You can apply a speed change from one clip to multiple clips by copying the first one, then pasting attributes (option + V, then select speed from the list) onto as many clips as you have selected.
    Just be aware that this will ripple your timeline by extending all of your clips. FCP keeps the original out point of the source clip, not the out point of each cut on the T/L.

  • Edit rotation - then time remapping - keyframes for rotation don't sync

    I have some footage that requires quite a bit of rotational correction which worked fine. I then need to slow some of it down. I used time remapping. This resulted in the correct slow motion but the key frames for the rotation editing did not "stretch" with original footage. So the rotation editing now occurs in the wrong places.
    Am I using the wrong sequence for editing? Or is there away to make the keyframes adjust accordingly when the footage is remapped.
    Thanks

    Nest the rotation then apply remaping...or vice versa  .

  • Premiere CS6 - keyframed scaling is not working with RED footage when Time Remapping is used

    Hello,
    My system is: Win7, Premiere CS6 (6.0.5), 12GB RAM, etc...
    My project settings:  I'm using 1080p RED timeline.
    Steps:
    Using 4K RED footage with "Scale to frame size" disabled after placing the clip on timeline.
    Under effects time remapping is set to 50%.
    Motion->Scale is keyframed from 50% to 100% to achieve zoom in effect while preserving image quality.
    Clip stays at 50% Scale ignoring the keyframes.
    Problem is present during preview and in the exported file. I tried with CUDA enabled and disabled and problem persists.
    If I turn off Time Remapping, then the clip responds to scaling keyframes.
    Is there any workouround or can this bug be fixed?
    Thanks!

    Thanks.
    This seems to work but I had to apply TR to the nested sequence and scaling to the original clip.
    Otherwise scaling operations are messed up.
    This situation reminds me of after effects and effects processing order.

  • Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously?

    Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously? I'd like to uniformly speed up and slow down two different clips that are playing in a picture-in-picture setup. I’m hoping there’s a more elegant way to sync them up than just editing their Time Remapping functions individually (I already tried using an Adjustment Layer. It didn’t work).

    you can try nesting the two clips together, then control the time remapping of the nest.

  • Keyframe irregularities with time remapping

    Just thought I'd post a screen grab of keyframe issues I've been seeing in case anyone at Adobe is paying attention. I can't recreate these bugs as they seem to only happen once in awhile. In this screen grab my selected clip is  00017.MTS and it's effect conrols are open in the source side monitor. At the point of the playhead the opacity is set to 0% but it is not fully transparent, it's opacity seems to be more like 50%.
    My system:
    Adobe CC Premier Pro
    Macbook Pro mid 2012
    2.7 GHz Intel core i7
    Nividia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB
    OS X 10.8.5

    The workaround is to do your time remapping keyframes and then nest it into a new sequence. Then apply the opacity keyframes to the new sequence.

  • Is it possible to set video keyframe "line" from Opacity to Time Remapping as default?

    I almost never use opacity effect, but i use Time Remapping very often. Is it possible to set Time Remapping as default effect handler for clips?
    Another idea is when you select a clip and want to change it's position or scale you have to expand a "Motion" submenu in Effects panel. Is it possible to have motion expanded by default?

    No to both.

  • Auto Time Remapping around synch points

    I have an extended video shot of a performance and an audio recording from another performance which is obviously inconsistent in synch points. Is there some way I can keyframe corresponding points on both video line and audio line where my picture and sound are in synch, then have Premiere simply snap to those points? After this I could tweak the duration in between.
    Premiere's Time Remapping as I grasp it is so cumbersome that I usually end up just chopping my shot into segments, synching where I need to, then expanding the in between segments using Speed/Duration. There's got to be a more intuitive way to match synch than the clinical style of Premiere's Time Remapping as I understand it so far.

    I am waiting for a quiet moment to take on the 3 and 4 point editing but my gut feeling is that it is not the solution I seek, though I am open to the possibility that it may work for me.  There's an important aspect to what I need that this techigue does not appear to address.  That is that my extended shot calls for multiple synch points points (it is two different performances that call for lip synch).  The objective I'm looking for 'finds' all matching synch points thast I have designated. After that, it should allow fine-tuning at new keyframable points throughout the duration to adjust imtermediate speedup/slowdown.
    I look forward to seeing how the 3/4 Point works out, Jeff!

  • New development with time remap tool

    It turns out my time remap tool works just fine in other projects just not this one. I do have alot of still shots with some motion graphics which is starting to extend my render times extensively. My question is, how do I solve this rendering time problem? Is there a way manage rendered footage better? Compress it? I'm new to this motion graphics and would appreciate any help.
    thanx
    John

    John,
    Keyframing smooth moves takes a little bit of practice and a BIG Canvas window to really see what you're doing. You'll be using the Canvas window and the Motion tab of the Viewer window a lot for this.
    Once you have the Canvas window up-sized (but still keep it at "Fit to Window" or smaller), set it to Image+Wireframe mode. When you click on or highlight a clip in the Timeline, you should see the Wireframe for that clip in the Canvas window (as long as the playhead remains over that clip). But first, double click a clip in the Timeline to load it into the Viewer window then open the Motion tab.
    Depending on what you want to do, you can approach most keyframed motion tasks two ways; move the Wireframe in the Canvas window, or enter values in the Viewer window. I usually do a bit of both.
    When you set a keyframe that shows up as a green dot (Scale, Rotation, Crop, Opacity, etc), you can right-click on that keyframe and select "Smooth" from the contextual menu. You'll see the purple bezier handles added to the keyframe. You can leave them as they are, or you can move those handles to manipulate the desired action. But for items like the Center control (black dot keyframe), you don't have this option in the Viewer window. Say you want to move the center point over the duration of the clip. Set the beginning and ending keyframe - or just set the beginning keyframe then move the playhead to the end point and manually drag the Wireframe in the Canvas window to the new location and FCP will automatically add a new keyframe. You should now see the path of the clip shown in the Canvas window displayed as dotted line. Right-click on the end or beginning keyframe and select "Ease In/Ease Out" from the contextual menu. Now you should see the same purple bezier handles added. Again, you can use the handles to smooth out movement, or slow down or accelerate a clip (by extending or shortening the length of the handle). If you have a multiple keyframed motion path, you can make wonderfully smooth curves with the bezier handles.
    For more info, look up Bezier in the user's manual, or better yet, go to Amazon.com and buy Kevin Monahan's book; "Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro."

  • FCP clip time remapping / speed ramping question re realtime after changes?

    Hello All,
    My first post here! I tried searches for this topic but didn't find....
    I wasted hours today messing with the keyframe editor to try and ramp parts of a single clip... first time using this feature and couldn't follow the manual! way too difficult to grasp without fluency in 'techygeekconfusic' lingo. Anyway, I don't think the topic was covered from what I read in my version of the manual.
    So I went straight for the keyframe editor graphic display under the clip in timeframe and put in a few points with the pen tool (using time graph blue line) and seemed to be going great until I realised that the segments in the single clip (ten minutes long) that I was adjusting were affecting what came after - ie slowing down the remainder of the clip. And that was all I could get from my manual that this happened without any explanation about stopping it happen by letting the outpoint of the clip readjust automatically for the changes made to that part of clip so that altered clip would be shorter in timeline...
    I then tried again from the start but noting the minus time on pentool arrow when I slid each keyframe point back and subtracting it from the duration in motion tab and that seemed to work for a while...
    but God bless my little brain! what I really wanted to happen - for the blasted thing to readjust itself automatically after I had adjusted a segment of the clip so that the remaining non-adjusted part would play in realtime with a new shorter outpoint in the sequence timeline - just couldn't be realised in my little brain or in the 'user friendly' control panels of FCP.
    I tried to get hold of the 'bezier' point at the end of clip and drag forward at the same rate as each change but could'nt get hold of it! I tried to put two points with pen tool at same time but couldn't isolate them from one another to create four points for adjustment without having still frames between.. blah blah.. I tried to get snapping to the pen tool points for further control but couldn't... duh!
    Please! how do you do it! obviously I have limited intelligence but I need to do this now. I want to adjust the 10 minute clip (DVCproHD 720p24N format - not that this should matter as my sequence settings are same) adjust the clip at maybe 10 different places so that it ramps in speed to cover up some boring areas and then back to normal speed after the changes - not back to some slo mo **! speed.
    I tried cutting with the razor tool to isolate and that didn't work either and other analogue brain type stuff ok I know you are laughing at me now but please help?!! I'm pretty new to this stuff, give me the old reliable Steenbeck and a few real bins and strips of film hanging on clothes pegs and I'll be ok...
    Help will be most gratefully appreciated!!!!!!!!

    Andy did a very good job explaining the underlying problem with the time remap tool.
    The key thing to remember is the first and last frame are fixed in time. If you speed up the clip, time after that keyframe will have to slow down to compensate. Imagine the clip is a rubber band that has been cut so that it is a long string-like form. Now imagine anchoring each end of it with a push pin to a board. If you grab a point on the band and pull it toward one of the pins, the part of the band on the side you are pulling away from the anchor will stretch (run slower) and the side you are pulling toward will bunch up (run faster). But, when all is done, the start and end will still be at the fixed points.
    The way I've worked through this is to make a general guesstimate of how long the clip will be once all the ramping is complete. For example, I want the clip to start at normal (100%) speed and ramp up to 300% and back down to 100%. I might start with a clip having a constant speed of 200% and then change it to variable and play with it. The key concept is if you can get the overall LENGTH to where it should be, the rest works out fine.
    I have repeatedly asked in the FEEDBACK/New Features page that they add a toggle to the speed/time remap tools. This toggle should allow you decide whether the playback TIME for the clip should be fixed or flexible.
    For example, if you were working with a 4 second clip and wish to slow it down by 50% -
    If 'Maintain Time' is toggled ON, when you decrease the speed of clip by 50% - the clip will still play for 4 sec (but will show only half the total frames).
    If the toggle is OFF, the 4 sec clip will now play for 8 sec and will display all the frames.
    Where this concept becomes really powerful is when it's applied to time remap. If you have 'Maintain time' toggled OFF, as you adjust speed, the end point of the clip will float in time. If you increase the speed, the overall time of the clip will shrink. If you slow it down, the end point moves out in time.
    We need to keep asking ...

  • Time Remapping - Need help

    I've been playing with this for a while and I just can't figure it out.  In the AE Help it shows keyframes being moved up and down with nice straight lines maintained between them, but when I do it I get bezier handles that produce crazy curves which I can't resolve.  Tried doing it in the Layer window and can't figure out what I'm doing.  I may just not understand this as a concept.
    I have a 6 second animation that I need to incorporate into a composition.  The actual animation stops at 4 seconds, holding on the last frame for 2 seconds.  I want to alter the timing so the animation completes at 2 seconds and then holds the frame for 8 seconds.  In other words, I want the first 4 seconds compressed into two seconds, then the last 2 seconds stretched to 8 seconds, for a total of 10.  It sounds easy, but I can't seem to get my head around it!  Can anyone give me some insight into time remapping that will let me do this?

    I don't really see you problem. In order to change the timing, you change the keyframe value, not its tangents. so you change the keyframe's value from 6 to 2, nothing more. The curves merely express the rate of change inbetween keyframes. To reset to linear interpolation, simply select the keys and hit teh respective icon at the bottom of the graph editor.
