Time Sensitive-P&S camcorder w/card 4 overseas?

Hi,
hope I'm in the right forum for this as I don't HAVE to edit in iMovie 09 for this project, but...
Someone I know is going to Africa with the Peace Corps for a couple of years within a week or so.
I would like to give them (so price is a factor a simple point & shoot camcorder for them to be able to send back video. Therefore, I thought the best solution would be one that recorded to a card so we could mail back and forth the cards and she wouldn't have to worry about running out of room on a hard drive either. I was thinking something like a Flip, but they're hard drive only.
She'll be getting into a town (mail & internet access) every 6 weeks or so, but I'm not sure what the electricity situation (if any) is available in the village where she'll be staying. So, how to power the camcorder is another issue, also. Anyone know of any kind of battery/solar power adapters for this kind of thing? Eg, I got a battery adapter to power my iPod on a long trip last year.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I just came up with this idea of her taping her experiences and sending them to me for editing & posting online this morning.
She's an older lady, so not a lot of fancy, manual controls are needed - high def would be good, but not necessary.

Well, in case anyone was interested...
I opted for the Aiptek HD GVS (pocket) camcorder on sale for $179 including an additional free 8GB SDHC card, shipping included.
I played with it for night before giving it to my friend and it seemed pretty good. I had enough fun with it during that short time that I somewhat regret giving it away, even for just the Summer, and wish I had it with me right now.
Didn't get to try it with iMovie 09 at all, however, AND I didn't see it on the approved camcorder list. It does record to .mov files, though, so I have high hopes.

Hi - I'm capturing HD video off miniDV into PProCS4 and I see these "lines" in the picture every time there's motion (panning, quick zoom) in the shot. However, the picture looks perfect on the little camera screen.

Hi,
Customer was using z-program for interest calculation and the problem was in that program. Our programmer did some fixing but I do actually know what. There is some place in configuration (you can search it) where you can assign CRED type to the interes indicators.

In order to get your messages to show up on your other phone, you would need to have a backup of the phone with the messages, and then restore the new phone from that backup.
According to article iTunes: About iOS backups found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 iTunes will backup your Messages.
iTunes will back up the following information
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
This will help you backup and restore your device:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

Inserting & Deleting in Trees?? Time sensitive issue

We have a tree that is populated with information linked to a client. When the user clicks on a node, it populates a block to the right with that data. Then the user can manipulate that data on the block to the right. If the users inserts a new record in the block on the right, in the key-crerec trigger for that block, I am also inserted a node into the tree with "[] New Item" as the Label and "0" as the value. My question is how do I delete this node if the user decides not to save. For example, they insert a new record, fill in all the data and then click on another node in the tree (to see it's data). The form pops the message "Do you want to save your changes?" (this message is coming from FORMS not me. If the user says "No". The record is not saved but the node still appears in the tree. Where do I put the code to delete the node?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a time sensitive issue.

Just a guess (never did that before) - servlets are server-side code. As you already suspected, it's looking for that c:\... file on the server, not on the client. Shouldn't you instead get the upload (input) stream from the request?

Importing time frame from DV camcorder

My wife needed to import some video for a presentation and it needed to have the original time signal shown on it. We were going to edit (titles etc) on iMovie HD but I could not find a way of making the time signal from the camcorder come up on screen. In the end we had to abandon the whole thing and use a VCR!! Just imagine!
Any ideas how I could get the time signal to show up if we need to do it again?

How do I prevent iPhoto from starting every time I connect to a camera card?

Every time I put in a camera card iPhoto starts. Is there a way to prevent this short of deleting iPhoto from the applications?

In the iphoto Preferences disable "connecting Camera opens" - set it to "No application".
If that does not suffice, do the same in Image Capture:
In Image Capture - with your camera card inserted- click the disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the window to reveal the menu to set the preferences for the device:
Then set the option to "Connectiong this ... opens" to "No application"

First time AMEX application - Approved for 2 cards!!

Also, I'm looking into buying a slightly used car and my debt to credit ratio would be under 30% by next August in addition to the next credit cards I intend to get and raise CLs on in the meantime. this may be outside the scope of this thread, but I intend on purchasing its small property and fixing it up then getting it reappraised for at least $10,000 for a next investment.

Some background info: I started out with Equifiax score of 423 in 2011 when I signed up for credit monitoring and have hammered away at all debts since then. $900 left in student loans total to this today. This morning my Experian Fico score updated to 657 with a credit ulitization of 31% after I paid down my balances. Equifax was 578 and TransUnion was 684, although AMEX doesn't pull from these. I paid off all collections with pay for delete except with AFNI which I'm currently disputing. Also, there is a judgement with Capital One also setlled. Both negative accounts are over three years old. I started with a bank credit card $500 CL, bank $1000 installment loan and 2 secured cards in June 2014, both $500CL. I closed the secured cards and upgrageded to 2 CapOne cards (Journey and Quicksilver One) later that December. I've made steady on time payments on all accounts since the secured cards. Two months ago, my CL doubled to $1000 on both CapOne cards automatically. Today: I applied online for the Amex Blue Cash (not preferred. I wanted free anuual cards) and was instantly approved. I created an account online and noticed there was only a $1000 credit limit. I decided to apply for a 2nd since it couldn't hurt much. I decided on the EveryDay card. I was prompted to call Customer service. Phone conversationRep "I see there was a duplicate application"Me "I applied for a second card. I usually apply for two cards at a time. However, I pay all my credit cards on time. I've done it for the past three years and don't intend to ever stop. Old External to New MBP cable question (Time sensitive)

I have a new MBP (purchased late january 2011). New external drives all connected properly and working. However, I need to access some old files for tax purposes (and that is why this is a time sensitive question.) These files were kept on a 60GB, small, portable drive: SmartDisk FireLite Model #FWFL60-N. This drive connected to my old MBP with a 4-pin firewire cable (wire has IEEE 1394 printed on it.) Obviously that cable is outdated for my new MBP. Question: Is there some type of wire (or conversion adaptor) I can purchase that will allow me to connect this old drive to the new computer? I never thought I'd need those old files -- but tax season has me scrambling for help or advice. Thanks!

P2 card 24pa import AUDIO ISSUES...time sensitive/losing my mind

Hello. I'm shooting 1080i 24pa on an HPX170. Editing in FCPX 10.0.8
Playback is fine in my camera.
Playback is fine on the Import Media window.
Playback AFTER import is disastrous.
I'm removing pulldown, to achieve true 1080p...but the audio is out of sync and completely cuts off about 75% of the way through EACH clip. It's this way on the timeline, in the event browser, even (outside of FCPX) in Finder and QuickTime.
I have googled and googled and googled some more. I've lost a days worth of editing and need to figure out how to fix this before I pull all of my hair out.
I'm using OSX 10.8.3
MacBook Pro
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
8gb 1333 MHz DDR3

Session time out when trying to redeem card!?

hi, I have tried to redeem my card 5 times now, and itunes keeps saying "session time out your sessions has timed out please try this operation from beginning" I am dualbooting windows xp and windows 7, I have used both OS's and still the same thing. when I try to redeem it on my ipod touch it tells me I have the wrong code. I do not have a mac availble im on vecation and only brought the PC laptop.
if it matters im using the itunes canadian store.

This worked for me:
Establish in her router a WEP 128 bit data encryption password. (Post back if you need help on this). Apparently macs have slightly different Airport drivers and work better with WEP 128 bit than with WPA although this doesn't explain why my friend's MB had your mum-in-law's problem but could connect to my WPA protected network - go figure! Anyway, try a different password encryption and see if that works.
As for not sending mail, check with your Mail Server what the SMTP setting should be.

Time Machine not working after ethernet card failed

A couple of weeks back my iMac Core Duo's ethernet failed. As a logic board replacement for a 3.5 year old iMac would be expensive I instead bought an Apple USB Ethernet adapter (which works great). However, now Time Machine will not work, it says it cannot find the built in network interface. It does not matter whether I connect the external drive directly via firewire or over the network to my Mac Mini (which will backup with either connection).
Here is the console error:

It's a long shot, but try a "Full Reset" of Time Machine, per item #B3 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
TM uses your Mac's Ethernet Address, which is embedded in the hardware of, guess what, your logic board, to identify your computer. This is how it keeps the backups for each Mac separate, so you can back-up more than one Mac to the same place without conflicts.
To find this address, use the System Profiler app (click the Apple icon at the left of your Menubar, then +About this Mac,+ then +More Info.+
Select Network in the sidebar, then Ethernet then find a line like this: +*MAC Address: 0a:1b:2c:3d:4e:5f+* That code, omitting the colons, is what TM puts in a hidden file on your TM volume to identify it as your Mac's backups.
Since your internal Ethernet card failed, you may not see that at all. If not, neither, apparently, can Time Machine. Other than getting a new logic board, I don't think there's a workaround.
