Time setting in pdf file presentation

Can I set different times for different pages of my pdf file when using the whole screen presentation in Adobe Reader? Thanks a lot!

You can change the 'auto-flip' delay on each page in Acrobat, but not in Reader. You do it by right-clicking each page in the left sidebar and choosing "Page transitions".

    I'm pretty sure that needs to be done in the creation of the PDF in Acrobat. Best to ask in that forum

  • How to set default .PDF file extension for Form Downloads

    I am trying to find a way of setting the PDF file extension when I download forms.
    I author the forms under a Plus subscription and am then downloading the forms under a basic subscription Collaborator account (diffrent person)
    If I don't include .pdf as the file type when downloading a form with a unique name as the Collaborator, it downloads without a file extension.
    Remembering to continually add the pdf file extension is a pain so I'm hoping there is away of setting this as a defaulet for my 'collaborator' account ?

    Firstly, apologies for multiple posts, I received messages saying my comment hadn't posted and also checked my history before re-submitting.
    Okay, the process is
    1. Log in as the Author account and I can rename the file without having to set the extension
    2. Log in as the Collaboartor account - same PC, browser etc and it doesn't save with a default file extension; HOWEVER, I have done this whilst also being logged in on a diffrent browser as the Author
    3 I have just tried logging out as Author and only being in as the collaborator and the form downloaded with a default PDF.
    4. I had someone else log in as the collaborator from thei PC and browser whilst I was still signed inunder my author account and again they were unable to save as PDF by default
    This has me wondering if there is anything at play when you've got multiple Users?

  • Changing the setting from PDF file to a  JPEG file.

    Is there a way I can change the scan setting on my printer. It is a HP Deskjet F4480. I want to change the setting from PDF file to a JPEG file. I want to scan them so I can see them on my screen saver.

    This has nothing to do with Acrobat. See the documentation for the scanner software that came with your scanner.

  • Setting a pdf file as my personal homescreen

    Is it possible to set a pdf file as my personal homescreen for the Curve 8300 series? If yes, how?

    Hi Rich,
    Some additional info might be helpful. When you downloaded the file, did it open in your browser, or in Acrobat or Reader, or did you save directly to disk? Do I understand correctly that you are trying to to print the downloaded file to PDF - if so why when it is already a PDF? What instructions don't work? It kinda sounds like you downloaded a corrupt file, but hard to be sure. Have you tried downloading and opening other PDFs to see if this is a repeatable error? Could you post a link to the troublesome file you downloaded?
    Hopefully this will not end up driving you crazy but if it does at least you will be crazy in Manhattan Beach!

  • Load time in a PDF file

    I've got a 6 tab dashboard that I export to a PDF file.  Some users have found load times of around 1 minute but I usually find it to load in about 20-25 seconds.  I tried breaking up each tab into it's own dashboard file and exporting to a PDF and each file takes about 4-6 seconds to load.  Is the load time for the 6 tab file additive (i,e. 4 seconds X 6 tabs = 24 seconds)?  Is there any way to allow the 6 tab file to load faster?  Also, is there a way to force the first tab to fully load first while the other tabs load in the background?

    How are you configuring this "6 tab" dashboard in Xcelsius?  Are you using an image component, external slideshow, or tab set component?  Are you configuring these nested child SWF files with dynamic visibility?  The way this is set up will dictate how much processing the Parent SWF file will need to do upon initialization.
    Ideally, you just want one Child SWF file loaded/visible at a time, which lessens the processing on the Flash Player.

  • Have to click multiple times to open PDF files with Reader XI

    Having issues opening pdf files in Adobe Reader XI.  Many times I have to double click 3 or 4 times before the document will display on my screen.  This is even more of an issue when trying to open a pdf in a browser, and will often cause IE to crash.  Every time I try to open a pdf file there is a process that is started, so I end up with a stack of AcroRd32.exe processes running with nothing to show for it.  I tried re-installing Reader, removing Acrobat 8 Standard, etc with no success.  OS is Windows 7, SP1.  Any help out there?

    You can't have both Acrobat 8 and Reader XI installed at the same time. They're not compatible with one another. Acrobat XI and Reader XI is fine, though.
    Also, Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 7...

  • Ouick Time problems with pdf files

    Help!! I can't view web pages that contain pdf files in the pdf format; the QT logo appears and I just get a picture of the first page of the pdf. If a download option is available, I can usually get it to download, but if the link takes me to a page where the pfd resides I just get that first-page display. I have tried to keep Acrobat Reader open while accessing the content, but it doesn't help. This happens with Firefox, Safari & Opera.
    I need to download some forms to print & fill out, so any help to solve this problem soon would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all,
    Bee

    I don't how things got changed, but I have resolved this issue on my computer. After Googling and searching in other forums, etc., here's what I did. I had Reader open. Closed it and relaunched. When it opened I got a message that Adobe Reader was not configured as an "internet helper" and asked if I wanted to repair this. I said yes. Then...since I ticked and unticked various other preferences trying to resolve this, I had to go back to Safari prefs and make sure that Open Safe Files was turned on. I think I quit Safari and restarted. Then it worked!!! Clicked the PDF link and it downloaded as a PDF into my downloads folder. All is back to normal.

  • PDF files used to open with a "save" option, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my system (running Windows 7). Now, that icon is gone and I can't save. Is there another way to configure the plug-in or is Firefox preventing this or what? THANK YOU.

    this is a new problem. Running Windows 7, latest update of Firefox 3.6.13. Under "Applications", I'm set to "open Adobe Acrobat inside Firefox" (which is what I have always done, then if I wanted to, I saved the PDF file elsewhere). should I/ can I open the PDFs outside Firefox, with my Adobe 9 Pro program?

    ■ Use '''Tools -> Options -> Applications ->''' <br> then look under content for Adobe Acrobat forms etc;
    <br> note a choice of options is usually available
    * see [[Options window - Applications panel]]
    Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
    Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

  • On my MacBookPro the program iTunes comes up and my iPad sync's up and I get the message that a PDF file is not found

    A lot of times I create PDF files for my electronic designs and present them to my customers. A files under "Book" has been deleted from my computer, but still shows up as a book listed.  When I use my iBook on my iPad, the book is not there which is great, but the book (or PDF file) is still listed. When sync occurs each time the iPad sync's up a dialogue box is created stating two songs are not there and the BOOK is not found. So I highlight the book with the check box next to it and how do I remove the contents of the library for "BOOKS"?

  • Is there any way to limit the number of times that a PDF can be opened?

    I run a small publishing company and we want to provide exam copies of our books to professors.  At present our exam copies have the words EXAM COPY as a water mark on every page and we've also made the files so that they can't be printed or easily copied.  However, we'd like to also restrict these PDFs so that they can only be opened 5 times.  I've read about FileOpen but that approach seems a bit more complex than needed.  Is there any other way to restrict the number of times that a PDF file can be opened once it is downloaded?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    DRM soltions like FileOpen are your best bet for PDFs. Others include Adobe's LiveCycle Rights Managment, LockLizard, Armjisoft PDF Security OwnerGuard, etc.
    They all work and are priced differently, but there's really nothing for what you want to do that is both simpler and secure.

  • PDF File Size Problem

    Hi,
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Elements 7.0 in my computer to convert files like .txt and .doc to .pdf files. But currently I'm facing a problem with the converted .pdf file size. For example, my .doc file is 5MB and after I convert to a .pdf file, it becomes 10MB. The file size basically multiplies itself by 2.
    I've tried converting .txt and .doc files and it gives me the same problem. I've tried reinstalling, tried all kinds of settings, and recreating user profile but it doesn't help. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much.

    Sorry. The problem is caused when I want to password protect a .pdf using elements. So I used Adobe Reader to open the .pdf file then I'll print using Adobe Printer so that I can password protect it and output file size is actually 10 times the normal .pdf file.
    Please help!!

  • How do I call browser Save As dialog box before downloading pdf files?

    How do I call browser Save As dialog box before downloading pdf files?
    Here's my favorite scenario:
    1. User clicks button
    2. Save As dialog displays
    3. User chooses location
    4. A set of PDF files download to that location OR a single zip file downloads
    Background:
    I want to ensure the user sees that files are being downloaded. I'm delivering content to users who may not be Web savvy.
    Concern:
    1. User has no clue how to find downloaded files or that files have even downloaded.
    2. I'd like to deliver the set as zip files. Not sure if self-opening zip files still exist.
    FYI:
    I'm using jQuery UI buttons. Not sure if that factors into response.

    Just for clarity, I'm not forcing a download. The user will click a button.
    Click a button or click a link, either way you're technically executing a script to force a download.
    I'm assuming that's the php file resident on the server.
    Yes but that's only part of it.  Once the contact form executes, another script is called up which opens the browser's download dialogue.
    Is there a php script for simply calling the Open/Save dialog box?
    Yes.
    <?php
    /* This short script forces a file download.
       For simplicity, it's intended to be used for a single file.
       You can use multiple copies of this file (with unique names)
       with different variable values to use it with multiple files.
       Use of this script has a side-effect of hiding the location of the
       file on your server.
    // full server path to file to be downloaded (including filename)
    $Path2File = "path/to-file-on-server.zip";
    // the filename
    $theFileName = "name-of-file.zip";
    //the work gets done here
    header ("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
    header ("Content-Type: application/octet-stream");
    header ("Content-Length: " . filesize($Path2File));
    header ("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=$theFileName");
    readfile($Path2File);
    ?>
    Name this file zip2download.php.

  • Create PDF file which will write to mdb

    HI there.
    I have a requirement to add some code to a set of PDF files which will be read by members of my team as part of their induction.   Each pdf has a form at the end which captures their name and a tickbox to state that they have read the document.  When a submit button as part of the form is clicked I would like to write these basic details to an access mdb database so that we can keep a check of who is compliant with the induction process.
    Is it possible to use Livecycle designer to create a document which will do this when opened in Adobe Reader?  I don't need the code to do this - just need to know if it is possible.  If not are there any other ways I could save the information on the form silently without the user needing to do anything other than submit the information?
    I've read somewhere that for certain things to work you need to activate some kind of reader extensions - is that the case for this solution?
    Thanks in advance for your advice.
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    Yes, if the user has the free Adobe Reader, then database access will require the form to be Reader Enabled in LC/ADEP Reader Extensions.
    While you can Reader Enable a form in Acrobat (with restrictions), connecting to a database is not permitted.
    See here for a summary: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall
